Anna Wonderly
SHERWOOD - Anna C. Wonderly, 81, Sherwood, died Tuesday afternoon in Community Hospitals of Williams County-Bryan.
She was born Feb. 4, 1919, in Berkey, the daughter of Elmer and Rose (Wischmeyer) Welsh. In 1941, she married George Mowat, who died in 1966. In 1968, she married Arthur Wonderly, who survives. She was a press operator at Fifty Corp., Bryan, and a member of St. Stephen's Catholic Church in Delaware Bend, its Altar Rosary Society and Travel Master Travel Club.
Also surviving are two sons, Lawrence Mowat of Greenwood, Ind., and Gordon Mowat, Ney; two daughters, Mrs. John (Georgie) Cannady of Bremerton, Wash., and Mrs. DeWayne (Sharon) Polter, Sherwood; three stepsons, Greg, Mark and Neil, all of Sherwood; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Rex (Cindy) Baxter of Sherwood and Vickie Elser, Ney; two sisters, Margurite Langenderfer of Berkey and Dorothy Lambert, Bryan; two brothers, John Welsh of El Cajon, Calif., and Albert Welsh, Bryan; and 10 grandchildren, 17 stepgrandchildren, five great-grandchildren and six great-stepgrandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were two sisters, Marie Trausch and Rita Wonderly.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the church with Rev. William Martin officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation is from 2-9 p.m. Friday at Rice Funeral Home, Sherwood, with a rosary service at 7:30 p.m.
Preferred memorials are to a charity of the donor's choice.

Nicolas Vargas Jr.
Services for Nicolas Vargas Jr. were held Wednesday at St. John Catholic Church with Rev. George Wenzinger officiating. The organist was Dave Moninger. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery with
military rites accorded by VFW Post 3360. Pallbearers were Bernard Sines, Bob Diamond, Warren Spencer, Paul Warnimont, John Curl and Joe Mora. Mast-Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home handled arrangements.

Mary Lou Lehmkuhle
Mary Lou Lehmkuhle, 71, Defiance, died at 7:55 a.m. Saturday in Paulding County Hospital from injuries sustained in a car crash on Ohio 111 in Paulding County.
She was born July 15, 1929, in Delphos, the daughter of Elvin and Lena (Carder) Allemeier. In 1950, she married John Lehmkuhle, who died in 1977. She was a clerk for Arp's Hardware and the former owner of Quality Cleaners in Delphos and Mary Lou's Country Kitchen, Grover Hill. She was a former member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Delphos.
Surviving are four sons, John of Ohio City, Charles of Van Wert and Daniel and Joseph, both of Delphos; a daughter, Ann Bloom, Delphos; two stepsons, John of Florida and Paul, Elida; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Don (Ladonna) Scantland, Ney; two sisters, Myrtle Seffernick of Delphos and Betty Seffernick, Jackson, Mich.; and 42 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were two brothers, Ralph and Al Allemeier; a sister, Audrey Belcher; and a grandchild and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation is from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today at Kolkmeyer-Helmkamp-Orians Funeral Home, Delphos, with a parish wake service at 8 p.m.
Preferred memorials are to a charity of the donor's choice.

Dorothy Waldman
Dorothy B. Waldman, 77, Defiance, died at 9:38 p.m. Saturday in Harborside Healthcare.
She was born Sept. 10, 1923, in Defiance County, the daughter of Wayne and Bernice (Parker) Lang. In 1939, she married Joseph Waldman, who died in 1991. She was a homemaker and a member of First Church of God.
Surviving are two sons, Joe of Cambridge and Jim, Defiance; five daughters, Mrs. Richard (Karen) Odenweller of Delphos, Mrs. John (Mary Ann) Dray of Palm Coast, Fla., and Susie Flores, Mrs. Joseph (Jane) Imber and Nancy Zipfel, all of Defiance; two brothers, Wayne Lang of Sun City, Ariz., and A. David Lang, Defiance; three sisters, Mrs. Ron (Janet) Zimmerman of Coldwater, Mich., Mrs. Richard (Joanna) Disheaux of Bryan and Mrs. Don (Kay) Kraber, Defiance; and 17 grandchildren, eight stepgrandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; 15 great-stepgrandchildren and a great-great-stepgrandchild.
Also preceding her in death were two brothers, Burnell and Harold Lang.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the church with Revs. Rick Rufenacht and Larry Kennedy officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation is from 7-9 p.m. today and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday in Mast-Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home.
Preferred memorials are to the church's building fund.

Thomas Shaffer
PIONEER - Thomas L. Shaffer, 66, Pioneer, died Sunday at his home.
He was born May 12, 1934, in West Unity, the son of Gerald and Wanda Shaffer. His first wife, Betty, died in 1978. In 1995, he married Jean Morris, who survives. He worked for Challenge Cook in Bryan, Custom Fit in Pioneer and North Central Local Schools, retiring in 1996. He was a member of Clay United Methodist Church, VFW Post 8628 in Pioneer and Moose Lodge 312 and Eagles Aerie 2246, both in Montpelier.
Also surviving are his mother, Wanda Reynolds, Stryker; two sons, Gary of Cassville, Mo., and James, West Unity; a daughter, Teresa Baus, Hillsdale, Mich.; a stepson, Robert Davis, Virginia Beach, Va.; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Michael (JoLynn) Moore, Huron; a brother, Mick, Hartsville Tenn.; two sisters, Mrs. Dick (Paula) Hancock, Lancaster, Tenn., and Mrs. Bob (Ruth) Good, Stryker; and three grandchildren and four stepgrandchildren.
Also preceding him in death were his father; a stepfather, Maurice Reynolds; and a grandchild.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Hollingshead Funeral Home, West Unity, with Rev. Lee Ortman officiating. Burial will be Floral Grove Cemetery, West Unity. Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday.

Alfred Sauber
Services for Alfred Sauber were held Saturday in St. Mary's Catholic Church with Rev. Tim Kummerer officiating. Music was provided by Don and Karen Sauber, Patty Webster, Barb Gregory, Sandy Davis and Cheri Rausch. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery. Pallbearers were Bob, Kenny, Fred, Tom and Art Sauber and John Carpenter. Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home handled arrangements.

Virginia Collard
Virginia L. Collard, 63, Defiance, died at 11 p.m. Wednesday in her residence.
She was born June 14, 1937, in Model, Tenn., the daughter of George and Mallie (Lyons) Cherry. She worked for Gladieux Food Services, GM Powertrain.
Surviving are a son, Chris Pittman, Defiance; a brother, C.W. Cherry, Cadiz, Ky.; a sister, Velma Sharping, Austin, Texas; and four grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were a son, Frank Pittman; three brothers, Clarence, Howard and G.C. Cherry; and a sister, Louise Wolfe.
Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday in Mast-Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home. Visitation will be after 1 p.m. Saturday.
Preferred memorials are to Hospice the Caring Way of Defiance County.

Kathryn Shaffer
BRYAN - Kathryn M. Shaffer, 49, Bryan, died at 8:35 a.m. Tuesday in her residence after an extended illness.
She was born Jan. 21, 1951, in Toledo, the daughter of Robert and Betty Jean (Welsh) Gillhouse. She worked at Air Way Manufacturing, Edgerton, until her retirement in 1998. She was a member of Eagles Aerie 2233 Auxiliary, Bryan.
Surviving are four sons, Ronnie and Michael, both of Paulding, Kenny of Knobnoster, Mo., and Roger; six sisters, Betty Jean Fuller of Berien Springs, Mich., Carol Dirrim, Evonne Gillhouse, Mrs. Ed (Shirley) Wilcox and Phyllis Young, all of Bryan, and Patricia Eisel, Alvordton; a brother, Charles Gillhouse, DeLeon, Fla.; a stepsister, Jean Underwood, Bryan; a special friend, Ed Leininger, Bryan; and two grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were her parents; and a brother, Donald Gillhouse.
Services will be at 6 p.m. Friday in Krill Funeral Home, Edgerton, with Rev. Richard Buchsteiner officiating. Visitation is from 3-6 p.m. Friday.
Preferred memorials are to Trinity Lutheran Church of Bryan.
