Rosena Baker
HOLGATE - Rosena A. Baker, 92, Holgate, died Thursday night at Holgate Center.
She was born Oct. 22, 1907, in Henry County's Pleasant Township, the daughter of Konrad and Regina (Speith) Zachrich. In 1927, she married Emery Baker, who died in 1984. She was a homemaker, a member of St. John Lutheran Church and its ladies' aid and Holgate American Legion Post 340 auxiliary.
Surviving are three daughters Mrs. Herman (Vera) Fackler of Defiance, Mrs. Norman (Velma) Rohrs of Holgate and Mrs. Elmer (Rosalyn) Junge, Napoleon; and 15 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were two brothers, Albert and Harmon Zachrich; five sisters, Gertrude Zachrich, Clara Welz, Laurena Baker, Matilda Demland and Beatrice Steingass; and a great-grandchild.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the church with Rev. Theodore Rellstab officiating. Burial will be in St. Stephen's Lutheran Church Cemetery, South Ridge, Highland Township, Defiance County. Visitation is an hour prior to services today at the church. Handling arrangements was Snyder Funeral Home, Holgate.
Preferred memorials are to Holgate Center activities and staff fund, the church or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Helen Wheeler
LIMA - Helen L. Wheeler, 79, Lima, died at 2:45 a.m. Friday in her daughter's home.
She was born March 6, 1921, in Lima, the daughter of Alva and Martha (Perrin) Clapper. In 1940, she married Lester Wheeler, who died in 1998. She was a sales associate for 15 years at K-Mart, Westgate, retiring in 1985. She attended Allentown United Methodist Church.
Surviving are three sons, Virgil of Henderson, Ky., William of Lima and Thomas, Columbus; two daughters, Beverly Duryea and Janice Lake, both of Defiance; two brothers, Charles and Derald Clapper, both of Lima; two sisters, Thelma Clapper of Lima and Opal Jeffery, Palmetto, Fla.; and 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were a sister, Gladys Lewis; and a great-great-grandchild.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Chiles and Sons-Laman Shawnee Chapel, with Rev. Rita Brown officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today.
Preferred memorials are to Area Visiting Nurses or Hospice the Caring Way of Defiance.

John Sneider
PAULDING - John D. Sneider, 68, Paulding, died at 4:15 a.m. Friday in Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne.
He was born June 30, 1931, in Toledo, the son of Roman and Margaret (Borer) Sneider. In 1965, he married Linda Smith, who survives. He worked for 29 years at SK Hand Tool, Defiance, retiring in 1995. He attended Bible Baptist Church, Grover Hill, and was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.
Also surviving are two daughters, Virginia Sneider and Margaret Alvarado, both of Paulding; a sister, Norma Majewski, Lansing, Mich.; and two grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Den Herder Funeral Home, Paulding, with Rev. Pat Holt officiating. Burial will be in Cooper Cemetery, Paulding, with
military graveside rites accorded by Paulding VFW Post 587. Visitation is from 4-9 p.m. Monday and from 8 a.m. until time of services Tuesday.

Mary Beck
RIDGEVILLE CORNERS - Mary E. Beck, 77, Ridgeville Corners, died Thursday in her home.
She was born Dec. 5, 1922, in Putnam County, the daughter of George and Mary (Werner) Ensman. In 1941, she married Joseph Beck, who died in 1988. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, Defiance.
Surviving are two sons, Joseph Jr. of Ridgeville Corners and Richard, Defiance; two daughters, Mrs. Gary (Mary) Leibrock of Jonesboro, Ark., and Mrs. Ronnie (Cecelia) Zimmerman, Marysville, Wash.; a sister, Bernadine Light, Colonial Heights, Va.; and 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were a brother, Eugene Ensman; and two sisters, Marcella Ensman and Geneveive Mangas.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church with Rev. David Tscherne officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation is from 7-9 p.m. today and from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at Snyder-Wesche Funeral Home, Napoleon, with a wake service at 8 p.m. Monday.
Preferred memorials are to Ridgeville Township Fire Department or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Lillian Stoll
ST. MARY'S - Word was received of the Sept. 27 death of Lillian Stoll, 95, who died at 5:42 p.m. in Otterbein Saint Mary's Retirement Community.
She was born June 14, 1905, in Defiance, the daughter of George and Nora (Speiser) Stoll. A graduate of Defiance College, Defiance, and Saint Vincent School of Nursing, Toledo, she began her career at Fremont Hospital, served as assistant administrator of Port Clinton Hospital and as administrator at Wyandot Hospital, Upper Sandusky, and Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, where she worked for 20 years and worked with the American Red Cross to organize the Gray Ladies. After retirement, she worked for insurance companies. She was a member of Wayne Street United Methodist Church and its Ruth Esther Circle, St. Mary's Senior Center and Business and Professional Women, a charter member of the Soroptimist clubs in Fremont and St. Mary's, an honorary member of the Ohio Hospital Association and received the Woman of the Year award from Beta Signa Phi.
Services were held Sept. 29 in Miller Funeral Home with Rev. David Woodyard officiating. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Defiance.

Butler Stephens
TIFFIN - Butler R. Stephens, 81, Tiffin, died at 10:30 a.m. Friday at his home.
He was born June 12, 1919, in Pine Knot, Ky., the son of Edward and Ollie (Garland) Stephens. In 1942, he married Betty Fulton, who died in 1993. He worked as a welder for General Electric, where he retired after 34 years. He served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Peiffer during World War II, and was a member of Tiffin VFW Post 2858, First Lutheran Church and Junior Order United American Mechanics.
Surviving are four sons, Butler Jr., Larry and Wayne, all of Tiffin, and Mark, Land O Lakes, Fla.; a daughter, Mrs. James (Christine) Rettig, Holgate; a sister, Ruby Steinhauser, Sunman, Ind.; and 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Also preceding him in death were two brothers, Daniel and T.J. Stephens; and two sisters, Florida Philpot and infant, Doris Stephens.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Turner-Engle Funeral Home, Tiffin, with Rev. Margaret Marks officiating. Burial will be in Fairmont Cemetery, with
military graveside services accorded by United Veterans' Council. Visitation is today from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. and an hour before services on Monday.
Preferred memorials are to Ohio Memorial Chapel or Junior Home Alumni.

Elmer Sweinhagen
Services for Elmer J. Sweinhagen were held Friday at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Rev. Keith Hunsinger officiating. Soloist was Kelly McMaster. Organist was Virginia Prucha. Pallbearers were Bob Diamond, Warren Spencer, Paul Warnimont, Dick Geiger, Leo Pessefall and Joe Mora. Conducting graveside
military rites was Defiance VFW Post 3360. In charge of arrangements was Mast-Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home.

Services for Maria V. Garza were held Saturday in St. John Catholic Church with Rev. George Wenzinger officiating. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery. Organist was Dave Moninger. Pallbearers were Michael Garza, James and Christopher Guerrero, Samuel Garcia and Joe and Dan Garza. In charge of arrangements was Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home.

Wilma King
Wilma G. King, 89, Defiance, died at 1:27 a.m. today in Leisure Oaks Convalescent Center.
She was born Aug. 18, 1911, in Putnam County, Ind., the daughter of Mack and Ivie (Raab) Rissler. In 1931, she married Roy King, who died in 1990. A homemaker, she was a life member of First Baptist Church and a member of Homebuilders Mezba Sunday school class.
Surviving are a son, Gale, Defiance; two daughters, Mrs. Carl (Lavonna) Kruse and Mrs. Leslie (Phyllis) Sanders, both of Defiance; and nine grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Also preceding her in death were a daughter, Wanda Wichmann; a brother, Robert Rissler; three sisters, Merle Miller, Crystal Sieglin and Fern Lovall; and two grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Mast-Mock-Hoffman Funeral Home with Rev. Scott Moffat officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Memory Gardens. Visitation is from 2-9 p.m. Thursday.
