Edna Shoemaker
WEST LEIPSIC - Edna (Hon) LouEllen Shoemaker, 74, West Leipsic, died at 9:38 a.m. Saturday at her residence.
She was born Nov. 13, 1925, in West Leipsic, the daughter of William and Ada (Bennett) Warner. In 1945, she married Serge Shoemaker, who died in 1992. She was a cosmetologist, a member of the former of West Leipsic United Methodist Church and Leipsic American Legion Auxiliary and a life member of Ottawa's VFW.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. James (Sharon) Place, Leipsic; three brothers, William Warner of Leipsic and Warren and Marion Dickey Jr., both of West Leipsic; four sisters, Catharine Balbaugh of West Leipsic, Marilyn Thornburg of Bryan, Bonnie Drew of Leipsic and Dorothy Skinner, Ottawa; and two grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death was a sister, Doris Warner.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Heitmeyer Funeral Home, Leipsic, with Rev. Judy Parker officiating. Burial will be in Center Cemetery, Leipsic. Visitation is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. until time of services Tuesday.
Preferred memorials are to Putnam County Hospice.

Marie Vance
PAULDING - Marie W. Vance, 76, Paulding, died at 8:50 a.m. (Ind. time) Friday at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.
She was born Jan. 18, 1924, in Latty, the daughter of Charles and Georgia (Bennett) Knapp. In 1942, she married Dale Vance, who survives. She was a member of Friends United Methodist Church, Latty, John Paulding Historical Society and Auglaize Village Historical Society.
Also surviving are four sons, Robert, Bill, Tom and David, all of Paulding; three daughters, Mrs. Frank (Connie) Starkey of Sherwood, Mrs. Bill (Patty) Darrow of Bryan and Mrs. Bill (Janet) Lawson, Fort Wayne; and 17 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death was a brother, DeVon Knapp; three sisters, Ruth Howell, Delores Bland and Berneice Foust; a grandson and two great-granddaughters.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the church, with Rev. Wayne Karges officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery. Visitation is from 2-9 p.m. Monday at Den Herder Funeral Home, Paulding, and one hour prior to services Tuesday at the church.
Preferred memorials are to the church.

George Hartshorn Jr.
WAUSEON - George W. Hartshorn Jr., 76, Wauseon, died Wednesday morning from injuries sustained in a vehicle accident at the intersection of Ohio 66 and 34.
He was born Dec. 26, 1923, in Martinsburg, W. Va., the son of George and Dora (McKeever) Hartshorn Sr. In 1949, he married Betty Edman, who died in 1973. In 1977, he married Lavina (Merillat) Grieser, who survives. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. during World War II. Before retiring, he was a computer programer at LaChoy Food Products and Sauder Woodworking Co., both in Archbold, and also operated the Grieser Airport. He was a member of Evangelical Mennonite Church, Wauseon, VFW 7424 and American Legion Post 265.
Also surviving are two sons, Roy of Aurora, Ill., and William, Hayes, Kan.; two daughters, Sue Koerber of Defiance and Mrs. Kyle (Mary) Greene, Aurora; two sisters, Carlotta Nemeth of Genoa and Elizabeth Mock, Toledo; and three grandchildren and a great-grandson.
Services will be at 3 p.m. today at the church with Dr. David Conn officiating. Burial will be in Archbold Cemetery with
military rites conducted by VFW 7424 and American Legion Post 265. Handling arrangements is Short Funeral Home, Archbold.

Donald Wineland
Donald D. Wineland, 81, rural Defiance, died at 9:40 p.m. Sunday in Leisure Oaks Convalescent Center.
He was born April 27, 1919, in Manitow Beach, Mich., the son of Clarence and Edith (Doan) Wineland. In 1944, he married Velma Stanz, who survives. He was a farmer and a member of Ney United Methodist Church, serving as trustee for several years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II serving on the USS Langley and a former commander and life member of Ney American Legion Post 680. He was also a life member of Defiance DAV Post 36.
Also surviving are a son, Dean, Ney; a daughter, Kay Rife, Fort Dodge, Iowa; a sister, Verneitta Zigler, Montpelier; and four grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were two brothers, Elwin and Richard.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the church with Rev. Sharron Twining officiating. Burial will be in Ney Cemetery. Visitation is from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Lawson-Roessner Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Thursday at the church.
Preferred memorials are to the church or Alzheimer's Association, 2500 N. Reynolds Road, Toledo, 43615.

HAMLER - Melvin G. Kruse, 75, Hamler, died Monday morning at his home. Services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Hope Lutheran Church, Hamler, with Rev. James Budke officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation is from 7-9 p.m. today at Snyder-Wesche Funeral Home, Napoleon, and one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.

Kevin Schnitkey
ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. - Former Napoleon resident Kevin C. Schnitkey, 49, Rocky Mount, died Sunday morning at Northeast Medical Center, Concord.
He was born Oct. 6, 1951, in Napoleon, the son of William and Elizabeth (Mitchell) Schnitkey. He was a 1969 Ridgeville Corners High School graduate, a U.S. Army veteran and a salesman for Chore Time Equipment Co., Milford, Ind. He had worked at the Napoleon Power Plant and was a former member of St. John Lutheran Church, Freedom Township.
Surviving are his parents, Napoleon; a son, Shawn, Rocky Mount; a daughter, Shannon, Rocky Mount; two brothers, David and Kenneth, both of Napoleon; and a grandchild.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Walker Mortuary, Napoleon, with Rev. Peter Marcis officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Napoleon, with
military rites conducted by joint veterans posts of Napoleon. Visitation is from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday.
Preferred memorials are to a charity of the donor's choice.

Scott Patrick
EDGERTON - Scott A. Patrick, 22, Edgerton, died Saturday at St. Vincent's Mercy Medical Center, Toledo, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Sept. 30.
He was born April 3, 1978, in Hicksville, the son of Tommy and Deborah (Kurtz) Nichols. He worked at Dura, Butler, Ind.
Surviving are his parents, Bryan; four brothers, Michael Nichols and Chad Kurtz, both of Edgerton, Tom Nichols of Wellington, Colo., and Jonathon Rose, Bryan; grandparents, Virgie Nichols of Edgerton and Phyllis Kurtz, Napoleon; and a fiancé, Jamie Morlock, Edgerton.
Preceding him in death were a sister, Karen Nichols; and grandparents, Sammy Nichols and Carlton Kurtz.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Krill Funeral Home, Edgerton, with Rev. Frederick Lab officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Edgerton. Visitation is from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday.
