William C. Kimmey
MOUNT VISION — Mr. William Charles Kimmey, 83, of Mount Vision, died Sunday afternoon, Jan. 5, 2003, at the Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown.
William was born on Dec. 1, 1919, in Lawyersville, N.Y., a son of Harvey and Jennie (Young) Kimmey. He married Kathrine Miller on Oct. 30, 1943, at home in Mount Vision.
Raised in the Cobleskill area, William graduated from Cobleskill Central School and then went on to graduate from Cobleskill Agricultural and Technical School. A dairy farmer for more than 45 years, he was a member of the Dairylea Milk Cooperative, the Cooperative Extension, was a leader in 4-H activities and was a 60-year member of the Otego Valley Grange.
A devoted Christian, William played the organ for the True Church of Christ on Sharon Hill for many years.
He was a beloved husband and an adoring father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was also a wonderful friend and neighbor and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
William is survived by his wife of 59 years, Kathrine, of Mount Vision; one daughter, Carol Dustin, and her husband, Allen, of Averill Park; one son, Robert D. Kimmey, and his wife, Becky, of Walden; one brother-in-law, Herbert Miller and his wife, Marjorie, of Mesa, Ariz.; one sister-in-law, Gladys Harrison, of Windsor; six grandchildren, David Kimmey and his wife, Dina, of Walden, Bill Kimmey and his wife, Wendy, of Jersey City, N.J., Jason Kimmey and his wife, Michelle, of Ellenville, Daniel Kimmey and his wife, Dee, of Walden, Joseph Kimmey of Walden and Heather Kimmey of Pine Bush; six great-grandchildren; two nephews, Duane Harrison of Windsor and Lynn Harrison of Arlington, Texas; and two nieces, Sally Miller of Buffalo and Margie Dennin of Selkirk.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 9, 2003, at the Connell, Dow & Deysenroth Funeral Home in Cooperstown, with Pastor Christopher Ellis of the Bible Baptist Church in Mount Vision officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in the spring of this year in the Mount Vision Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday evening, Jan. 8, 2003, from 7 to 9 p.m. when William's family will be in attendance.

Rose Edick
RICHFIELD SPRINGS — Rose Edick, 79, of 104 North Washington St., Herkimer, formerly of Canadarago Street, Richfield Springs, passed away on Tuesday morning, Jan. 7, 2003, in Little Falls Hospital.
She was born on Aug. 30, 1923, in Richfield Springs, daughter of the late Antonio and Elizabeth Famulare Vertucci. A lifelong Richfield Springs resident, she was a graduate of Richfield Springs High School.
On April 13, 1957, she married Kenneth A. Edick in Saint Joseph's Church, Richfield Springs. A loving union of 25 years. Mr. Edick died on May 3, 1982.
Mrs. Edick took much pride in her home and family. She had a strong belief in God and lived a devoted Catholic life. She was a member of Saint Joseph's Church, Richfield Springs, where she belonged to the Catholic Women's Club and the Altar Rosary Society.
She will be deeply missed by many, especially her family.
Surviving are one son, Kenneth A. Edick Jr., of Utah; two brothers, Frederick Vertucci of Naples, Fla., and James Vertucci of Stone Ridge; four sisters, Grace Avery of New Hartford, Margaret Lasher of Northville, N.C., Theresa Oakes and Anna Edick, both of Richfield Springs; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides her parents and husband, Kenneth, two brothers, Anthony and Joseph Vertucci, and two sisters, Mary Brown and Elizabeth Lyons, preceded her in death.
Funeral from J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James St., Richfield Springs, will be held on Friday at 10:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, Richfield Springs, with the Rev. Terrance Healey officiating.
Mrs. Edick will be laid to rest in St. Joseph's Cemetery later this spring.
The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends on Thursday from 4 until 7 p.m.
Memorial donations may be made to the Vertucci Scholarship Fund or to the Alzheimer's Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Josephine Dunham (Josie) Fuller
NORTH BLENHEIM — Mrs. Josephine Dunham (Josie) Fuller, 73, of Route 30, North Blenheim, died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2003, at the Inn of Community Hospice of St. Peter's Hospital, Albany, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Josie was born in Hobart on Dec. 13, 1929, a daughter of Harry and Carolina Muzquiz Dunham.
She was the widow of Barnett R. Fuller, who died on Jan. 13, 1994.
She retired in 1997 from the Social Security Administration where she had worked in both the Schenectady and Albany offices as a claims examiner. Josie also worked at the Watervliet Arsenal in Watervliet.
Josie was a communicant of St. Catherine's Church, Middleburgh, a member and past matron of the Rising Star Onistagrawa Chapter No. 295, member of the Blenheim Bridge Historical Society, the Breakabeen Grange No. 767, and the Blenheim Hose Co. Auxiliary.
She was the Town of Blenheim Historian for over 20 years and curator of the Blenheim Bridge School House No. 3 Museum. She enjoyed researching genealogies, was an avid reader, loved to travel and was the world's biggest fan of the Blenheim Covered Wooden Bridge.
Josie is survived by a daughter and husband, Rebecca and Barry M. Gray of Delmar; two sons, Joseph H. Fuller Sr., of North Blenheim, and Kevin R. Fuller of Middleburgh; two sisters, Amparo (Pardy) Coons of Middleburgh, and Esther and husband, William Caulkins, of Albany; seven grandchildren, Joseph H. Fuller Jr., James K. Fuller, Kevin J. and wife, Stephanie, Fuller, all of Middleburgh, Zachary, Shane and Rachael (Honey Bunch) Gray, all of Delmar. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, including her beloved grandniece, Vanessa Lynn Mangan.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 10, 2003, at the Palmer & Shaylor, Inc. Funeral Home, 134 River St., Middleburgh, where a funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2003, with Father Thomas Holmes of St. Catherine's Church officiating. A spring burial will be made in Riverview Cemetery, North Blenheim.
The Rising Star Onistagrawa Chapter No. 295 will hold a service at the funeral home on Friday at 8 p.m.

Beth Anne Poley
DELHI — Beth Anne Poley, 50, of Delhi passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2003, after a truly courageous battle with cancer.
Beth was born in Delhi on Feb. 25, 1952, the daughter of Clifford and Jean (Perry) Liddle.
She graduated from Delaware Academy in 1970, won the title of Miss Sesquicentennial in 1971, and was married to George Freer in 1973. She was secretary/treasurer of the Clark Companies where she had been employed since 1978. Beth later married James C. Poley at their beautiful lake home in late 1997.
Beth was a true lover of sports, the outdoors and was especially fond of her three canine companions, Jessie, Meg and Sandi. She truly loved her home and spent much of her free time tending to the large lawn, trees and shrubs. Even while dealing with the worst of her illness, she was known to sneak out to mow the lawn or pick rocks.
Beth had a true zest for life and will be sorely missed by her many friends and by her co-workers at the Clark Companies.
Besides her husband Jim, Beth is survived by her son, Brock Freer of Delhi; her brother, Leland Liddle and his wife, Roxanne, of Delhi; and her brother, Rod Liddle and wife, Jean, of Kentucky. She is also survived by her brothers-in-law, Thomas Poley, Steven Poley and Daniel Poley; a sister-in-law, Janice Poley-Jeannotte, and aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2003, at the DeLancey United Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Bert More officiating. There will be no calling hours.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Catskill Area Hospice or the Humane Society of Central Delaware County.

Charlotte P. Cash
DELHI — Charlotte P. Cash passed peacefully Jan. 3, 2003, at Countryside Care Center in Delhi. She was 82.
She was born July 18, 1920, to Earl and Bertha Pierce (now deceased), in Pines Brook.
Charlotte married Milton Cash on April 15, 1939. They were farmers who owned and operated a farm in Oxbow. Milton died June 7, 1967.
She is survived by one son, Anthony, wife, Debbie, grandson, Alexander of Willmette, Ill.; sisters, Clara Dart, Lillian Lorenz and Audry Cohon of Monticello; brother, Leo Pierce; sister-in-law, Carol Pierce; and brother-in-law, William Cash of Delhi.
She was predeceased by one brother, Carroll Pierce, and brother-in-law, Arthur Cash.
Charlotte worked for Scott Machine Development Corporation in Walton for a short time.
She loved her crafts, birds, animals, trees and traveling.
Funeral services by Lyon Bros.-Way, Inc., corner of North and Delaware streets, Walton, will be held in the spring.
J. Andrew Gracey
TODDSVILLE — J. Andrew ("Andy") Gracey, 82, of Toddsville, went to be with his Lord on Tuesday evening, Jan. 7, 2003, at his home.
Andy was born on April 1, 1920, in the town of Meredith in Delaware County, a son of James and Irene Mae (Kyrk) Gracey.
He married Virginia Mae Potter on Aug. 10, 1957, in the First Baptist Church of Cooperstown.
Raised in Delaware County, Andy received his education in a one-room schoolhouse near Delhi. He then attended Delhi Agricultural and Technical School for two years and for the next 17 years was employed on the dairy farm of Robert and Iva Adair in Delhi.
Following his marriage, Andy was employed for the next 24 years as a route salesman for Richfield Wholesalers, a tire re-capping business in Richfield Springs. After this career, he was employed in the housekeeping department at the Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown and for 11 years drove school buses for the Cooperstown Central School. One of his proudest accomplishments was that of being the school bus safety drill instructor for the school.
Throughout the years, Andy wore many hats and had many jobs in this area. Included in these were his jobs as custodian for the Fly Creek United Methodist Church, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hartwick Seminary, Church & Scott Pharmacy in Cooperstown, and Cooperstown Glass, as well as maintaining several area properties. He was also known as the official seat monitor at Stewarts on Chestnut Street in Cooperstown.
An avid bowler, he was involved with the men's leagues at the Clark Sports Center in Cooperstown, continuing to bowl into his eighties.
Andy loved people and helping others, and especially enjoyed the fellowship of the members of his church family at the Fly Creek United Methodist Church.
A caring husband and father, Andy is survived by his wife of 45 years, Virginia, of Toddsville; three sons, Richard Gracey and his wife, Gerrie, and their two sons, Jack and Ryan, Douglas Gracey, and Kenneth Gracey and his wife, Lisa, and their two daughters, Brandy and Maura, all of Oneonta; one daughter, Patricia Gracey of Fort Plain; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Jim, and two sisters, Elizabeth and Emily.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2003, at the Cooperstown United Methodist Church, located on the corner of Glen Avenue and Chestnut Street, with Pastor Thomas E. Pullyblank, of the Fly Creek United Methodist Church, officiating, and the Rev. Eileen Cornwell, pastor of the Elm Park United Methodist Church, assisting.
Burial will be at a later date in Lakewood Cemetery in Cooperstown.

Wayne E. Darrah
UTICA — Wayne E. Darrah, 62, of Utica passed away Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2003, at his home.
He was born June 21, 1940, the son of Ross and Marjorie (Vaughn) Darrah.
After graduation from Oneonta High School, he served in the U.S. Air Force. A graduate of Delhi College, he worked for MetropolitanLife in Utica for 10 years as an investigator for Oneida County Department of Social Services.
He was a life member of the VFW, the American Legion and also the NRA.
He is survived by his mother, Marjorie Darrah Hubler, of Oneonta; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Douglas and Kathleen Darrah of Norwich, Larry and DJ Hubler of Fairport. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Seth Darrah, Chad Darrah, Karin Meyer, Stacy Darrah, Randy Hubler and Chip Hubler; and nine great-nieces and nephews. He leaves many friends in Utica, especially Tony and Henry, and his friends at the Courtview and the Department of Social Services.
He was predeceased by his father, Ross Darrah, and his stepfather, Grip Hubler.
Funeral and committal services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2003, at 11 a.m. in the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oneonta, with the Rev. Eileen Cornwell, pastor of the Elm Park United Methodist Church, officiating.
Burial will be in the spring in the Oneonta Plains Cemetery.
Calling hours will be offered on Saturday from 10 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m.

Olga Swota
RICHFIELD SPRINGS — Olga Swota, 89, of Richfield Springs passed away on Tuesday morning, Jan. 7, 2003, in her home.
She was born on June 18, 1913, in Watervliet, daughter of the late Simon and Valeria Michasiow.
She attended Watervliet High School and graduated from Albany Comptometer School.
On Jan. 28, 1933, she married Stephen Swota in St. Peters and Paul's Church, Watervliet. In 1972, she retired from Bassett Hospital and for the next 20 years, she was a volunteer at the hospital.
Survivors include her husband of 70 years, Stephen; two daughters and their husbands, Shirley and Ralph (Buck) Wilkerson of Cody, Wyo., and Joyce (Cookie) and Robert DeMasi of Rochester; three grandchildren, Stephen and his wife, Teri Wilkerson of Cody, Wyo., Valerie Sue and her husband, Louis Keating, of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Woody Wilkerson of Scottsdale, Ariz.; one great-granddaughter, Sarah Marie Keating; one great-grandson, Roger Nolan Keating; two brothers, David McKay of Whispering Pines, N.C., and Myron and Sheila Michasiow of Carmel, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, four brothers, Francis, Joseph, Emil and Arthur Michasiow preceded her in death.
A funeral will be held on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James St., Richfield Springs.
A Mass of Christian Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Church, Richfield Springs, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Terrance Healy officiating.

Marguerite Burchhardt
HOMER — Marguerite Burchhardt, 84, died Jan. 5, 2003, in Cortland.
She was born April 25, 1918, to Fred and Susan Holbrook Russell and lived her childhood years in the rural hamlet of the Otsdawa in Otego.
She married Otto Burchhardt in 1942; they were residents of Otego, Oneonta and Unadilla until the mid-1990s when they moved to Homer and resided at the Elizabeth Brewster House on Main Street. They celebrated nearly 56 years of marriage at his death in 1998.
Marguerite's gift to us was a vibrant giving spirit that could brighten one's day.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Diana Burchhardt of Tully; daughter and son-in-law, Sylvia and Albert Butler of Fallbrook, Calif.; grandsons, James Burchhardt, Thomas Burchhardt, Kelly Butler, Blaine Butler, Christopher Butler and Jason Butler; a great-granddaughter, Madison Rose Butler; and her sister, Christine Sampson of Maple Grove.
She was predeceased by her husband, Otto Burchhardt, and sister, Doris Robinson.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 11, 2003, at 1 p.m. at the Bookhout Funeral Home, Oneonta. Calling hours will precede from 11 a.m. until service time.
Burial will be in Otsdawa Cemetery in the spring.

Gertrude S. Lyman
ONEONTA — Gertrude S. Lyman, 96, of Oneonta passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2003, at the A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital Nursing Home.
She was born June 17, 1906, in Oneonta, the daughter of John and Margaret (Barr) Smith.
She married Conrad "Bud" Lyman in 1933. Mr. Lyman predeceased her in 1957.
Gertrude was a member of St. Mary's Church, Oneonta. She was a bookkeeper for many years having worked for several firms both in Oneonta and in Florida.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sheryl and Amand E. Heck of Oneonta; her grandchildren, Connie Haney of Hartwick, and Maj. Amand F. "Fritz" Heck of Kathleen, Ga.; five great-grandchildren, Sawyer and Carson Haney, Katelyn, Tyler, and Hunter Heck; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a brother and a sister, Robert Smith and Maguerite Gallup.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, Jan. 10, 2003, at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, Oneonta, with the Rev. Paul Roman, pastor officiating.
Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Emmons in the spring.
Friends may call on Thursday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, 14 Grand St., Oneonta, at which time the family will be in attendance.
