Donald E. Thompson, 74, of Pinellas Park, Fla., died Tuesday. Born in Marcellus, he lived in Howlett Hill 52 years before moving to Florida in 1980. He retired in 1977 as a machine operator with General Motors. He was a member of the American Legion in Florida. A son, Robert, died in 1998.Survivors: His wife, the former Elizabeth Conners; three daughters, Linda Ware and Donna Thompson, both of Florida, and Lorraine Stevens of Georgia; two sons, William of Liverpool and Daniel of Marcellus; a sister, Betty Goodsell of Red Creek; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild. Lorraine E. Tallman Wallenbeck, 43, of county Route 23, Constantia, died Tuesday from injuries suffered in an automobile accident. Born in Starkville, Miss., she lived in the Syracuse area 33 years. She graduated from North Syracuse High School and Onondaga Community College. She was a homemaker, and a leader and treasurer for Boy Scout Troop 724 in Constantia. She was a member of Vanderbuilt Snowmobile Club and St. Rose of Lima Church. Her mother, Claire Tallman, died in 2000.Survivors: Her husband of 17 years, Ronald; two sons, Bartholomew and Christopher, both of Constantia; her father, Gene Tallman Sr. of North Syracuse; four sisters, Mary Whalen of Ballston Spa and Jennifer Sohl, Elizabeth Tallman and Therese Tallman, all of North Syracuse; two brothers, John Tallman of Brewerton and Gene Tallman Jr. of Pearl River; her maternal grandmother, Monica Moose of Utica. Homer R. "Dick" Weller, 80, of East Mud Lake Road, Baldwinsville, died Tuesday. Born in Lysander, he attended Baldwinsville Academy. He retired in 1984 as a driver and mechanic for Lease-Way Trucking Co. in Syracuse and also worked for the town of Lysander Highway Dept. He was a life member of Lysander Fire Department and was a member of Little Utica United Methodist Church in Phoenix. He was an Army veteran of World War II.Survivors: Five daughters, Jane Ann Butler, Edna Lyons, Elizabeth Kellogg, Tamara Weller and Brenda Suslilk, all of Baldwinsville; four sons, Michael, Harvey, David and Brian, all of Baldwinsville; three brothers, Carl and Raymond, both of Fulton, and Cecil of Syracuse; 22 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren. She retired in 1985 as a clerk for New York State Compensation Board after 25 years. Pauline L. "Polly" Plumpton Mugglin, 59, of county Route 4, Central Square, died Tuesday. Born in Syracuse, she lived in Central Square more than 35 years. She was a graduate of Central Tech nursing program. She co-founded the Syracuse International Horse Show in 1973. She was a member of Central Square Lioness Club, the Central New York Two-Cylinder Club, past member of the Central Square Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary and a past member of Elizabeth Caldwell Chapter Order of Eastern Star.Survivors: Her husband of 37 years, Barry; two daughters, Kelley Foster of Central Square and Karen Mann of Arkansas; her parents, Fred and Mary Plumpton of LaFayette; a sister, Barbara Dean of Virginia; a brother, Fred Plumpton of Syracuse; two grandchildren. Mary K. Mallette Castaldo, 81, of 80 Morgan Manor, Oswego, died Wednesday. She was born in Alexandria, Va. She had worked at Fitzgibbons Boiler Works in Oswego during World War II. She retired in 1977 from Weston's Department Store. She played bingo Tuesday nights at the Dante Aleghieri Lodge Post 436 and won many bowling trophies. Her husband, James, died in 1986. Louis "Lou" DiPalma, 68, of Wells Avenue East, North Syracuse, died Tuesday. Born in Waterbury, Conn., he attended the Air Force Academy. He retired in 1988 after 17 years as a letter carrier with the U.S. Post Office at the North Salina station. He was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers Branch 134 and Toastmasters International. He was a former member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3146, Mattydale, and a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church, North Syracuse. He retired in 1971 as a master sergeant after 20 years with the Air Force. Survivors: His wife of 49 years, the former Cindy Gagliardi; four daughters, Cindylou Gromny of North Syracuse, Eleanor White of Central Square, Gloria Toia of Cicero and Shirley Awad of Clay; a son, Louis Jr. of Land O'Lakes, Fla.; four sisters, Mary Santillo, Susie Accousti and his twin, Louise Fasano, all of Waterbury, and Lena Calabrese of Woodbury, Conn.; nine grandchildren. Barbara C. "Bobbie" Lewis, 89, of Salt Springs Road, Fayetteville, died Oct. 3. Born in Syracuse, she attended Goodyear-Burlingame School in Syracuse, National Cathedral School in Washington, D.C., and graduated from Syracuse University School of Architecture. She was a private architect in Fayetteville for more than 62 years. She was a member of American Institute of Architects, Syracuse Century Club and was a board member of the American Red Cross. She received a Post-Standard Woman of Achievement Award in 1959. She served the American Red Cross in Europe during World War II. Survivor: A sister, Carol Dixon of Citrus Springs, Fla. Cathleen Jensen McGinty, 63, of Cicero died Tuesday in an automobile accident in Cicero. Born in Schenectady, she graduated from St. John the Baptist High School in 1956, received a bachelor's degree from College of St. Rose and a master's degree from State University of New York at Albany. She taught as a sister of St. Joseph from 1957 to 1975. She also taught at Onondaga Central School for one year and later was a substitute teacher in North Syracuse. She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Cicero, sang with the choir and was a volunteer for Anna's Pantry. She was a North Area Meals on Wheels volunteer. Survivors: Her husband of 25 years, Oisin; a daughter, Meghan E. McGinty of San Francisco; a son, P. Casey of Cicero; her mother, Katherine E.
