She graduated from The Convent School and received a master's from Catholic University. She retired in 1985 as a teacher and had taught in Albany, Syracuse, Utica and Riverside, N.J. She taught at Bishop Ludden High School for more than 20 years.Survivor: A sister, Eileen Ieda of Maryland. Services: 7 p.m. Wednesday and 8:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Anthony Motherhouse. Katherine J. Coleman Chesneski, 84, formerly of 417 Churchill Ave., Syracuse, died Monday at Loretto. Born in Solvay, she graduated from Solvay High School. She retired in 1982 as a salesperson at the former E.W. Edwards department store after 30 years. She was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church and a member of its Altar and Rosary societies, Geddes Veterans Auxiliary and Syracuse Turners Club. Her husband, Stanley, died in 1996.Survivors: A daughter, Cynthia Perry of Syracuse; a son, Stanley D. of Syracuse; two sisters, Eva Conroy of Syracuse and Mary DiMatteo of Bellevue, Wash.; a brother, William Coleman of Liverpool; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren. Services: 9:15 a.m. Thursday at Carter Funeral Home and 10 a.m. in St. Anthony's Church. Burial, St. Mary's Cemetery Mausoleum, DeWitt. Robert L. Cowen, 76, of 16 N. Church St., Cortland, died Sunday. Born in Cortland, he attended Cortland schools. He was a mason with Local Union 17 in Ithaca. He was an Army veteran of World War II. His wife, Monique, died in March.Survivors: A daughter, Connie LoParco of Cortland; a son, Gary of Austin,  Texas; a stepson, Richard Andre of New Mexico; a sister, Gert Palmieri of Connecticut; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. Alan L. Elkin, 70, of Otisco Street, Syracuse, died Friday. Born in Trout Lake, Wash., he lived in Syracuse more than 30 years. He was a mechanic at Frank Manzi Auto Shops.Survivors: Two daughters, Romona Godfried of Aberdeen, Wash., and Jeaneen Serano of Springfield, Ore.; a son, David of Madison, S.D.; nine grandchildren. Donald A. Engel, 80, of DeWitt died Sunday. Born in Syracuse, he graduated from North High School. He retired in 1983 as an executive salesman after 43 years with J&FB Garrett Paper Co. He was a member of Liederkranz, Syracuse Turners and Gruen's Club and a volunteer for the DeWitt Fire Department. He was an Army Air Forces veteran of World War II. His first wife, Honey, died in 1995.Survivors: His wife, Jacqueline Lee-Engel; a daughter, Karen Engel-Kappesser of Blue Ridge, Va.; a son, Thomas C. of Pompey; two stepsons, Brian F. Lee of Dallas and Thomas W. Lee Jr. of Central Square; a sister, Shirley Engel Schneider of Brewerton; six grandchildren. Services and burial: Private. No calling hours. She retired as a bookkeeper in 1975 after 20 years with E.W. Edwards. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Minoa. Her husband, Francis B., died in 1994.Survivors: A daughter, Gail Longtin of Tempe, Ariz.; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. Services: 12:15 p.m. today at Russell H. Corinne R. Groner

Corinne R. Dillenbeck Groner, 84, of Centerville Court, North Syracuse, died Sunday at Rosewood Heights Health Center. Born in Black River, she graduated from Black River High School. She lived in Central Square many years before moving to North Syracuse six years ago. She retired in 1993 as a bookkeeper for A.C. Lamb and Sons in Liverpool after 32 years and had also worked at Beacon Feed Mill in Mallory. She was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church and its Caring Commission. She received the Oswego County Girl Scout Council Thanks Badge in 1957 for service as Camp Near Wilderness manager and Girl Scout ambassador. She was a former member of Central Square Chapter Order of the Eastern Star. Her husband, Emmett E., died in 1955.Survivors: Three daughters, Sandy R. Hall of Liverpool, Janine L. Carr of Bridgeport and Sue A. Hudson of Cato; a son, Douglas G. of Pearl, Miss.; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren. Services: None. Burial, North Syracuse Cemetery. Gertrude "Trudy" Gennis Jacobson, of Boca Raton, Fla., died Friday. Born in Ottawa, Canada, she lived in Syracuse until moving away about 10 years ago. She retired in 1982 as an administrative assistant after 12 years in the Onondaga County Department of Social Services food stamp division. She was a former member of Ahavath Achim in Syracuse and was a member of Beth Shalom in Boca Raton. She was a member of Jewish War Veterans Onondaga Post 131 Auxiliary and was a board member of the Guilford Building Association of Century Village.Survivors: Her husband of 60 years, Joseph; two sons, Mark of Glencoe, Ill., and Fred of Atlanta; a sister, Rose Rosen of Ottawa; two grandchildren. John "Jack" Krakau, 77, of Cedarvale died Monday. Born in Syracuse, he lived there most of his life before moving to Cedarvale. He retired in 1982 from the Research and Development Department at Carrier Corp. after 37 years. He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II.Survivors: His wife of 24 years, the former Jeanette Beaudin; three daughters, Linda Krukau and Judi Strong, both of Syracuse, and Janelle Collins of Camillus; two sons, Thomas of LaFayette and John of Syracuse; a sister, Marge Kelly of Tamassee, S.C.; a stepdaughter, Shelley Cusano of North Syracuse; five stepsons, David Clarke of Norfolk, Va., Kenneth Clarke of Jordan, Mark Clarke of Syracuse, Scott Robinson of Volney and Ernie Robinson of Houston; 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
