Lody Kukenberger
COOPERSTOWN — Lody Kukenberger, 85, of Cooperstown passed away peacefully early Wednesday morning, Oct. 9, 2002, at his home on the family farm on the River Road.
He was born on May 31, 1917, in Cooperstown, a son of Louis and Anna (Borstnar) Kukenberger.
He married Elizabeth J. Harvey on Dec. 1, 1964, in East Springfield. Mrs. Kukenberger died on Sept. 12, 1980.
Raised in Cooperstown, Lody attended the Cooperstown Central School and was then employed on the Kukenberger family farms on Beaver Meadow Road and River Road. In 1981, he officially retired from dairy farming but, until very recently, continued to help his son on the farm.
Lody was of the Roman Catholic faith. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially by the pond on the hill behind his farm.
He was also an avid collector of toy antique cars and trucks.
He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry J. and Patricia Kukenberger and Joseph L. and Carrie Kukenberger, all of Cooperstown; three grandchildren, Cali Katherin Kukenberger, Larry J. Kukenberger Jr. and Eric W. Kukenberger; four stepgrandchildren, Mike, Kyle, Donna and Keith Bronson; two brothers and one sister-in-law, William and Elizabeth Kukenberger and Frank Kukenberger, all of Cooperstown; several nieces and nephews and a special friend, Michael Bronson Sr.
He was predeceased by his sister, Mrs. Rose Bentley, and a nephew, Wayne Kukenberger.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12, 2002, at the Fly Creek Valley Cemetery, with Fr. John P. Rosson, pastor of St. Mary's "Our Lady of the Lake" Catholic Church in Cooperstown, officiating.
Friends may call at the Connell, Dow & Deysenroth Funeral Home in Cooperstown, from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday evening, Oct. 11, 2002, when Lody's family will be in attendance.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in the form of memorial gifts may be made to Catskill Area Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 542 Main St., Oneonta, NY 13820.

Anona G. Mason
UNADILLA — Anona G. Mason, 93, of Unadilla passed away Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2002, in the Nursing Care Facility of The Hospital in Sidney.
She was born on Sept. 5, 1909, in Cannonsville, the daughter of Walter and Anna (Scrum) Griswold.
She was predeceased by her husband, Claude Mason, in 1945.
She has been a Unadilla resident most of her life and was a retired employee of the former Bendix Corp. of Sidney.
Anona was a member of the Unadilla Baptist Church and a former Sunday school teacher, and member of the Unadilla Grange and the Happy Times Senior Citizens Club of Wells Bridge.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and George Ree of Jarrettsville, Md.; a sister-in-law, Lucy Carvin of Unadilla; her grandchildren, Russell and Patricia Ree, Roger Ree and Roxanne Ree; and three nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 11, 2002, at the Unadilla Baptist Church, with the Rev. Brian Cutting, pastor of the Unadilla Baptist Church, and the Rev. R. Michael Amos, pastor of the Fellowship Baptist Church, Unadilla, officiating.
Burial will be in Evergreen Hill Cemetery, Unadilla.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 10, 2002, at the Westcott Funeral Home, 123 Main St., Unadilla, when the family will be in attendance.

Earl W. Bevins
DeLANCEY — Earl William Bevins, 74, of DeLancey passed away in Wilson Hospital in Johnson City on Sept. 25, 2002, after a long illness.
Mr. Bevins was born in Gilboa, the son of the late William and Elizabeth Bevins of Gilboa.
He worked at Frazier Creamery in Delhi and lived most of his life in Walton.
Mr. Bevins attended the Assembly of God Church in Delhi.
He is survived by several nieces, including Marquerite Tuthill of Grand Gorge; along with several nephews and cousins; and his dear friend, Virginia Gardner of DeLancey.
He was predeceased by two sisters and five brothers, all of Gilboa.
Those who desire may contribute donations in his memory to the church.
There were no calling hours.
Mr. Bevins was buried in the Gilboa Cemetery in Gilboa.
Arrangements were by the Hall Funeral Home in Stamford, under the direction of William A. Tari.
Grace M. Hunt
EAST WORCESTER — Grace M. Hunt, 95, of East Worcester passed away Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2002, at Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown.
She was born May 28, 1907, in a mining camp in San Juan Cito, Honduras, Central America, the daughter of Joseph M. and Mary Magdelene (Kulthau) DeHart.
She married Raymond L. Hunt on June 28, 1930. He predeceased her on July 26, 1973.
Mrs. Hunt graduated from P.S. 57, Richmond Hill. She attended Richmond Hill High for two years and graduated from New Brunswick High in New Jersey and the Trenton State Normal, Trenton, N.J.
She was a kindergarten teacher for a few years before her marriage.
She belonged to Theta Phi Sorority; Semper Fidelis of St. Paul's Reformed Church in Milltown, N.J.; the P.E.P. Club of Milltown, N.J.; and was also a member of the East Worcester United Methodist Church; the Homemakers Group in East Worcester and the United Methodist Women's Group in East Worcester.
She was blessed with her family of two sons, Ronald Lynn and wife Nancy Hunt of East Worcester and William Joseph and wife Carrie Hunt of Quartz Hill, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Mary Elizabeth and husband Charles Kodra; a grandson, Chuckie Kodra; and a great-grandson, Michael Davis Ferris.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 11, 2002, with the family in attendance from 7 to 9 p.m. at the E.J. Skinner Co. Funeral Chapel in Worcester.
The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12, 2002, at the East Worcester United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Ken Baldwin, pastor officiating.
There will also be calling hours from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the church.
Burial will follow at the Maple View Cemetery in East Worcester.

Virginia M. Beno
BAY SHORE — Virginia M. Beno of Bay Shore, Long Island, and formerly of Otego and West Babylon, Long Island, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2002.
She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph J. Beno.
She was the devoted mother of Mary J. Borgs, John J. (Mary Ann) Beno, Eileen King and Gale Braun. She was the cherished grandmother of Jessica, Erin and Carl Beno, Adam Dreyfus, Cori Anne King and Amy and Kim Braun. She was the loving great-grandmother of Angel Dreyfus.
She is reposing at the Fredrick J. Chapey & Sons West Islip Funeral Home, 1225 Montauk Highway (1/4 mile west of Robert Moses Causeway).
Celebration of the Liturgy of Christian Burial will be Monday at 9 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, West Islip, Long Island. Interment will be in Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton, Long Island, following services.
Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4:30 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. on Saturday and from 2 to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Stanley C. Bullock
ROXBURY — Stanley C. Bullock, 63, of Roxbury passed away Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2002, at the Margaretville Memorial Hospital, Margaretville.
He was born Dec. 11, 1938, in Hermon, the son of Manie Given and Fred Bullock.
He married Lewana Matthews on April 30, 1961, in West Pierrepont.
He graduated from Edwards Central School in 1957.
He worked at Edwards National Bank, Roxbury National Bank, Golden Rule Hardware and Bundy Redi-Mix.
Stan enjoyed bluegrass music, playing the guitar and family vacations. He also enjoyed reading.
He is survived by his wife, Lewana Bullock, Roxbury; two daughters, Sherry and husband, William Finch, Roxbury and Shelley Bullock, Clifton Park; one son, Stan Bullock and fiance, Julie Pasternak, Grand Gorge; his grandchildren, Alexa Finch, Rob Van Etten, Bill Finch and Kimberly Finch; two brothers, Arland Bullock and Leland and wife, Janet Bullock; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two sisters, Arleen Bullock and Eleanor Bullock.
Committal service will be held Saturday, Oct. 19, 2002, at Edwards Cemetery, Edwards.
Contributions in memory of Stanley C. Bullock may be made to the Roxbury United Methodist Church or to the Roxbury Ambulance Squad.

Anne G. Moorby
NEWARK VALLEY — Anne (Nan) G. Moorby, 80, formerly of Oneonta, died on Thursday, Oct. 10, 2002.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 60 years, LeRoy G. Moorby; her daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Warren "Gus" Jones of Holland Patent, N.Y., and Cathy and Carl Schultz of Fenton, Mo.; her sons and daughter-in-law, David and Carmen Moorby of Black Diamond, Wash., and the Rev. William A. Moorby of Newark Valley; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Kay and C.A. "Rye" Rycraft of Liverpool, N.Y., and Marie and Don Wetmore of Rochester, N.Y.; her brother and sister-in-law, John H. and Judi Clarke of N.C.; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was predeceased by her grandson Travis Schultz.
She was born on Oct. 7, 1922, in Carbondale, Pa., a daughter of the late J. Howard and Helena (Burns) Clark Sr.
She was a graduate of Oneonta High School, Class of 1941.
She was a former member and Eucharistic minister at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Oneonta, a member of the Young at Heart Senior Citizens Group and an employee of the former Banta's Office Supply in Oneonta.
Throughout her life, she demonstrated her love with many acts of kindness. She was especially happy to make visits to nursing homes and share her delicious baked goods.
For the past three years, she has resided in Newark Valley and was a devoted member of St. John the Evangelist Church.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Patrick Church in Owego. Her son, the Rev. William A. Moorby, pastor of St. John the Evangelist, St. Patrick and St. Francis Church, will officiate.
Interment will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery.
Her family will receive their friends on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the MacPherson Funeral Home, 5 Whig St., Newark Valley. Due to bridge construction, please use the Water Street detour off Route 38 at Tappan Road.

Anna E. Brezee
ONEONTA — Anna E. Brezee, 96, of Oneonta died peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer Thursday evening, Oct. 10, 2002, at the A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital, Oneonta.
She was born Sept. 10, 1906, in Middlefield, N.Y., the daughter of Charlie and Helen Amanda (VanDeBoe) Darling.
Anna worked at the Oneonta Dress Co. as a floor supervisor for 15 years, retiring in 1972.
She was a 57-year member of the First Baptist Church, Oneonta; as well as a member of the Lang-Barea Class; a member of the Royal Rebekah Lodge, Oneonta, for 50 years where she was the past assembly state officer of New York state.
She was also a member of the Anna E. Wilber Auxiliary of the Oneonta Lodge; Past Noble Grand Association of Otsego County and past district deputy president.
She was predeceased by her granddaughter, Jean Ann Hodges; great grandson, Robert Hodges; three sisters, Norine Leonard, Ella Mae Darling and Pauline Carpenter; three brothers, Carlton Darling, Henry Darling and Elmer Darling.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Frances and Bruce Stevens of Fort Myers, Fla.; her grandchildren and their families: the children of Jean Ann Hodges, Harry Hodges and R. David Hodges and his two sons, Ryan and Robert Hodges of Georgia, Susan and Allen Gregory and their two daughters, Heather Gregory and husband-to-be, James Thomas, and Erin and her son, Christopher, of Sidney, David and Christine Clark and their two daughters, Carey Clark and Lisa and Shawn Langton and their son, David Riley Langton of Mohntown, Pa., and Johnathan and Barbara Clark and their two daughters, Stephanie and Stacie Clark of Otego; one brother, Clayton Darling of Middlefield; several nieces, nephews, cousins; and close friends.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, Oct. 14, 2002, at 11 a.m. at the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oneonta, with the Rev. William Lang, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating.
Burial will be at the Middlefield Cemetery, Middlefield, N.Y., at 2 p.m. Calling hours will be offered on Monday at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until service time, at which time the family will be in attendance.

Edna A. Oldick
RICHFIELD SPRINGS — Edna A. Oldick, 83, formerly of Bronner Manor Apartments, passed away on Wednesday evening, Oct. 9, 2002, in the home of her daughter, Diane Buell, of Route 51 in the town of Exeter.
She was born on Dec. 1, 1918, in Ilion, the daughter of the late Samuel and Lula Maulkins Helmer.
She was a lifelong area resident and was educated in Mohawk schools.
On Sept. 1, 1939, she married Harold J. Oldick in Mohawk, a loving and devoted union of 51 years until his passing on June 1, 1991.
For a short time, she worked as a nurse's aide for Clark Nursing Home in Richfield Springs.
Edna had a strong belief in God and led a devoted Episcopal life. She was a member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Springfield Center, a member of Arbutus Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, Richfield Springs, and the Richfield Springs Senior Citizens.
In her leisure time, she was an avid card player.
Surviving are three sons and their wives, Donald and Nancy Oldick of Warren, Charles and Dale Oldick of Little Falls, and Stephen and Linda Oldick of East Springfield; one daughter, Diane, and her husband, Kenneth Buell, of West Exeter; a brother-in-law, George Oldick of Albany; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a sister, Gertrude Mercer, and a brother in law, Howard Oldick.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Springfield Center, with the Rev. Persus Williams officiating.
She will then be laid to rest in the Springfield Center Cemetery.
The family will be present to receive friends and relatives on Sunday from 4 until 8 p.m. in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 W. James St., Richfield Springs.
Members of the Arbutus Chapter Order of Eastern Star are asked to gather at the funeral home on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. for ritualistic service.
Memorial donations may be made to the Arbutus Chapter Order of Eastern Star, Richfield Springs, Catskill Area Hospice or St. Mary's Episcopal Church. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
Lois W. Wadsworth
EDMESTON — Lois W. Wadsworth, 79, of Edmeston, died Friday, Oct. 11, 2002, at M.I.B. Hospital in Cooperstown with her family by her side.
She was born Oct. 16, 1922, in Paris, N.Y. the daughter of Newton and Ida Mae (Thompson) Wood. She married Herbert Wadsworth on Oct. 19, 1940, in the Paris Congregational Church.
Lois retired from New York Central Mutual Insurance Co. where she had been employed as an accountant. She had also worked at the Edmeston Burlington Health Center, Pathfinder Village and had served as the Edmeston deputy town clerk and town tax collector.
Lois, along with the Rev. John Blackman, were the founders of West Hill Terrace in Edmeston.
She was a member of the Second Baptist Church, where she served as deaconess, Sunday school superintendent, Sunday school teacher and was active in A.B.W. She had also been a former member of the Maple Valley Eastern Star #159.
She was predeceased by her husband, Herbert Wadsworth, on January 16, 1991; and her sisters Antoniette Dukes and Eleanor Dudgeon.
She is survived by her children Fred Wadsworth, Gary Wadsworth and Cheri Kline; six grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, Oct. 14, 2002, at 10 a.m. at the Second Baptist Church, Edmeston, with the Rev. Jay Noll and the Rev. Fred Wadsworth officiating.
Calling hours are Sunday, Oct. 13, 2002 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Houk-Johnson-Terry Funeral Home, Edmeston.
Interment will be at Crown Hill Cemetery.
Contributions may be made in Lois' name to either the Second Baptist Church or the Edmeston Emergency Squad.
