Dr. Daniel P. McMahon, 51, of Van Buren died Sunday from injuries suffered in an accident on his family's farm in Homer. He was born in Oxford. He graduated from Homer High School and the State University College at Cortland, and received his master's degree from the State University College at Oswego and his doctorate from the State University at Albany. He was academic dean at West Genesee Central Schools since 1998. He was previously principal of Cato-Meridian High School and taught English and Spanish at Cicero-North Syracuse High School for 18 years. He was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Baldwinsville and a member of the Syracuse Astronomical Society. His father, Richard T., died in 1994.Survivors: Two daughters, Shannon McMahon of Athens, Ga., and Jesse McMahon of Baldwinsville; a son, Brendan of Baldwinsville; his fiancee, Cynthia A. She was employed for many years in the interior drapery department of the former H.R. Wait Co. in Auburn. She was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church. Her husband, Samuel, died in 1953. Harry A. Gill, 81, formerly of 270 Black Creek Road, Oswego, died Monday at Loretto Heights Nursing Home in Oswego. Born in Fultonville, he graduated from Fultonville High School. He was an insurance agent for John Hancock Life Insurance Co. for more than 25 years. He was affiliated with Boy Scouts of America for more than 35 years and was Scoutmaster of Troop 3. He was awarded the Silver Beaver, scouting's highest honor. He was a member of Trout Unlimited.
