Julia C. Buckley
MOHAWK — Mrs. Julia C. Buckley, 76, of 1065 State Route 5S, Mohawk, beloved wife of Donald Buckley, passed away following a long courageous battle with cancer on Wednesday morning, Oct. 11, 2000, at her home. Julia was surrounded with the love and comfort of her family at her side.
In respect of Julia's wishes, direct cremation has taken place. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday (tonight), 5-8 p.m., at the Holleran-Enea Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington St., Herkimer. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in her memory to the Sue Campagna Hospice of Herkimer County. Envelopes may be obtained from the funeral home.
A prayer service will be held Friday, Oct. 13, at 9:15 a.m. at the Holleran-Enea Funeral Home, Herkimer. At 10 a.m. from the Blessed Sacrament Church, Mohawk, a Memorial Mass will be celebrated by the Rev. James Steuer, pastor. Procession will follow to Mountain View Memorial Garden, town of Little Falls, where interment will take place alongside her first husband, Robert Murphy, who passed away in 1975.
The family extends its most sincere thanks to the entire staff of Herkimer County Hospice, especially mentioning Sr. Sharon Ann Boyd. Also of great help and concern were Dr. Musa, Dr. Bunn, Dr. James Steinman, Fr. James Steuer and Deacon Sam Salamone. Julia was blessed and aware of her wonderful neighbors, friends and family who offered attention and care when she needed it the most.
Julia was born on June 25, 1924, in Little Falls, the daughter of the late Matthew and Julia (Kvas) Gorinshek. She was educated in Little Falls schools, and lived her life in the Little Falls/Mohawk area. She was last employed with Duofold in the Mohawk/Ilion area, and at one time had worked with the National Auto Fibres. Julia retired in 1986. She was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church, and along with her husband Don was a member of the 187th Airborne New England Chapter of Rakkasans. Julia will be missed for her easy going nature, her beautiful smile, and her genuine love and concern for others. She loved pets, and was extremely fond of polka music.
She is survived by her husband, Don; her stepdaughters, Linda Sagatis along with her husband Bill of Little Falls, Amy Gabriel along with her husband Mark of Little Falls, Donna Schanne along with her husband Mark of Houston, Del., and Kelly Chadder of Houston, Del.; her stepson, Donald Buckley Jr. and his wife Terry of East Herkimer; her cherished twin sister, Mary Murphy of Mohawk; and eight grandchildren, William Sagatis Jr., Steven Sagatis, Carolyn Gabriel, Alisa Schanne, Haley Schanne, Greggory Buckley and Tyler Buckley. Julia also leaves three special nieces, Michele Papaleo and her husband James of Little Falls, Frances Scanlon of Mohawk, and Kathy Visconti of Little Falls; and nephews, John Gilbo of Little Falls, and Tony Visconti of Little Falls. Also sisters-in-law, Betty Pierce and Charles of Long Beach, Wash., Doris Buckley of Little Falls, and Richard Buckley and his wife Ambassador Prudence Bushnell Buckley of Guatemala; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Julia was preceded in death by three brothers, Matthew Gorinshek, William Gorinshek and Louis Gorinshek; her mother-in-law, Dorothy Buckley; brothers-in-law, Francis Murphy and Joseph Buckley; her niece, Roberta Gilbo; and nephews, William Murphy and William Scanlon.
Joseph Randazzo Sr.
LITTLE FALLS — Joseph Randazzo Sr., 79, of 10 Church St., Little Falls, passed away unexpectedly at his residence on Monday, Oct. 9, 2000.
He was born on January 21, 1921, in Utica, the son of the late Joseph and Rachael (Catrini) Randazzo. He was educated in Utica schools.
He was first united in marriage to the former Dora Prestiagiacomo. He was later united in marriage to the former Mildred Gillen. She predeceased him on Oct. 22, 1988.
Mr. Randazzo was a veteran of World War II, serving with the United States Army. Entering the service with his two brothers, Roger and Jake, on November 28, 1942. He served the 389th Field Artillery Battalion in the Rhineland as a cook and baker. He was honorably discharged as a technician fifth-grade on Oct. 4, 1945, at Ft. Bragg, NC.
He was of the Catholic faith. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 31, Little Falls.
Mr. Randazzo began his baking career as a young boy in Utica at the age of 12 or 13. He worked for several bakeries in the Utica area before coming to Little Falls where he started the White Rose Bakery. After selling the business he became the baker and store manager of the former Dan-Dee Doughnuts Shop in Little Falls, retiring in June of 1990.
He is survived by five sons, Joseph Randazzo Jr. and his wife, Heather, of Little Falls, with whom he resided, Richard Randazzo and his wife, Susan, of Ilion, Steve Randazzo and his wife, Jane, of North Augusta, SC, Donald Randazzo and his wife, Joanne, of Huntersville, NC, and David Randazzo and his wife, Diane, of Alder Creek; five daughters, Linda Marino and her husband, Robert, of St. Johnsville, Rosalie McCurry and her husband, Carl, of Marcy, Rachael Ann Dealing and her husband, Delbert, of Utica, Yvonne Perry and her husband, Robert, of Waterville, and Lucinda Wright and her husband, David, of East Long Meadow, Mass.; two sisters, Josephine Martocchia of Utica and Teresa Jones of Herkimer; three brothers in-law, Richard Gillen of Danube, Sid Gillen of Arlington, Tx. and Fred Gillen of Sloansville; two sisters in-law, Bernadine Lawrence of Little Falls and Elizabeth Stewart of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., 22 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Roger and Jake Randazzo.
Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2000, at 2 p.m. at St. Anges Cemetery Chapel, Mohawk Street, Utica, with the Reverend Anthony LaFache, pastor of St. Anthony's Church, Utica, officiating. Interment will take place in the family plot in St. Agnes Cemetery.
Arrangements are by the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann St., Little Falls, there are no calling hours.

Catherine LeGrand
ILION — Catherine LeGrand, 78, of the John Guy Prindle Apartments, Ilion, and formerly of 653 E. Monroe St., Little Falls, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2000, at her home.
She was born June 18, 1922, in Little Falls, the daughter of the late Peter and Katherine (Hocschied) Lemche. Catherine was a graduate of St. Mary's Academy, and also attended college in New York City. A resident of the Little Falls area for most of her life, Catherine moved to Ilion two years ago.
Her marriage to Roger C. LeGrand Sr. took place on Jan. 4, 1947, at St. Mary's Church in Little Falls. The couple shared a blessed union of marriage for 37 years until the passing of Mr. LeGrand on Feb. 2, 1984.
For 24 years, until her retirement in 1979, Catherine was employed at the Burrow's Paper Mill, Little Falls, in the finishing room.
Mrs. LeGrand was a member of the Holy Family Parish.
In her leisure, Catherine enjoyed embroidery where she spent many hours mastering the art.
Survivors include three sons, John LeGrand and wife Mary of Daytona Beach, Fla., Roger LeGrand Jr. and wife Karen of Baldwinsville, and David LeGrand of Rome; a daughter, Robin Nichols and husband Walter of Little Falls; her grandchildren, Laurie Wollacott and husband Kenn, Tina Ledrid and husband Jason, Rodger LeGrand, Melissa LeGrand, Shannon Ropeter and husband Lester, and Christopher Nichols; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and a special cousin, Elizabeth Harvey of Little Falls.
She was predeceased by an infant sister in Yugoslavia.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Oct. 13, 2000, at 10:15 a.m. from the Enea Funeral Home, 24 W. Monroe St., Little Falls, and at 11 a.m. from the Holy Family Parish Church, corner of East Main and John streets, with Rev. Charles R. Celeste, pastor, celebrating a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery, town of Herkimer. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home on Thursday, Oct. 12, 2000, 5-8 p.m. All memorial contributions may be made to the Holy Family Parish Renovation Fund. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Nicoli James Arduini
ILION — Mr. and Mrs. Chad and Leslie (Mabbett) Arduini of 355 W. Main St., Ilion, mourn the loss of their precious infant son, Nicoli James, who went to be with the angels on Sunday, Oct. 8, 2000.
Their family includes Leslie's father, Daryl Mabbett of Mohawk; her mother, JoAnne Garcia and her husband Heriberto of Herkimer; Leslie's maternal grandmother, Joan McCumber of Mohawk; and her paternal grandparents, Grace and Leslie Mabbett of Cedarville; along with Chad's parents, Carol Ann and Dominick Arduini of Schuyler; and his paternal grandparents, Patricia and Leland Arduini Sr. of Florida; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend a graveside service that will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2000, at 11 a.m. at Mohawk Cemetery with the Rev. George B. Greene officiating. The Enea Family Funeral Home, Main Street, between Ilion and Frankfort (894-8000), assisted the family with arrangements.
Eleanor B. (Brock) Fogarty
LITTLE FALLS — Eleanor B. (Brock) Fogarty, 87, of Garden Street, Little Falls, passed away Friday, Oct. 6, 2000, following a brief illness.
She was born on Aug. 1, 1913, in Little Falls, the daughter of the late Dr. Arthur A. Brockett, DVM, and Bessie (Broat) Brockett in her parents home on Garden Street and has resided in Little Falls all of her life and later returned to her parents home where she still resided. She was a graduate of Little Falls High School, class of 1930.
She was united in marriage to John M. (Butsy) Fogarty on Sept. 26, 1936, at the First Presbyterian Church, Little Falls, with the Rev. J. Harold Thompson officiating. Mr. Fogarty predeceased her on March 20, 1979.
She was an over 50-year member of the First Presbyterian Church, Little Falls, as well as an over 50-year member of the Rock City Chapter No. 272, O.E.S., Little Falls. Mrs. Fogarty was employed as a sales clerk for several stores in Little Falls, including the former Smallen's Store, Viskup's Style Shop, Park Row Drug Store and at one time for the Cranberry Candle Shop, Little Falls. She also was the bookkeeper for her father for his veterinary office in Little Falls.
She is survived by two daughters, Joyce Shaver and her husband Paul of Schuylerville, and Janet Constantino of East Syracuse; five grandchildren, Michael Shaver of Fort Edward, Timothy Shaver and his wife Joelle of Milford, Mass., Karen Galcik and her husband Michael of Schuylerville, Kimberly Johnston and her husband Roger of Rochester, and Jody Clasen of East Syracuse; five great-grandchildren, Melissa Clasen, Taylor Shaver, Amanda Shaver, Mackenzie Galcik and Zachary Galcik; and several nieces and nephews and cousins, including Caroline Sidenius of Little Falls.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend memorial services to be held on Saturday, Oct. 14, 2000, from the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann St., Little Falls, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Jon A. Noble, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, Little Falls, officiating. Interment will take place in Church Street Cemetery, Little Falls. There are no calling hours.

Mary I. Rackmyer
ST. JOHNSVILLE — Mary I. Rackmyer, 77, of 40 Monroe St., St. Johnsville, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 7, 2000, at the St. Johnsville Nursing Home.
She was born May 1, 1923, in St. Johnsville, the daughter of the late Irving and Bertha (Moyer) Smith. Mary was educated in St. Johnsville and was a life long resident of the St. Johnsville area.
On Feb. 14, 1942, she married her high school sweetheart, Harvey L. Rackmyer. The couple shared a blessed union for 57 years, until the passing of Harvey on Feb. 27, 1999.
Mary was last employed at Beech-nut in Canajoharie.
Mrs. Rackmyer was a 62-year member of the Grace Congregational United Church of Christ, and also a former member of the church's 2F Club.
With family her foremost priority, Mary's happiness, love and well-being was centered around her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her loving daughter, Constance Nolly and husband Richard of Fort Plain; her loving son, Harvey A. Rackmyer of St. Johnsville; five cherished grandchildren, Paul Nolly, Troy Rackmyer, Tammy Rackmyer, Matthew Rackmyer and April Rackmyer; six cherished great-grandchildren; her sister, Leona Szelc of Watertown; several nieces and nephews; a cousin, Regina Hudson of Fort Plain; and in-laws, George Rackmyer and wife Helene of Syracuse, and Betty Dingman and husband Alton of Salt Springville.
She was predeceased by a sister, Blanche Mocher; and a sister-in-law, Belle Lyng.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2000, at 11 a.m. from the Grace Congregational United Church of Christ with Rev. Robert Dievendorf, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in West St. Johnsville Cemetery. George J.Engert
HERKIMER — Mr. George J. Engert, 59, of 105 Protection Ave., passed away Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2000. He was born in Herkimer on Aug. 23, 1941, the son of the late Daniel and Edna Snyder Engert. George was a graduate of Herkimer High School, Morrisville Community College and later graduated from Utica College of Syracuse University with the class of 1982. George was married to Constance Warkowski on Aug. 26, 1961, in the Trinity Lutheran Church, Herkimer. He was employed as a process engineer for Remington Arms, retiring in 1986 after 25 years of dedicated service. His funeral will be held Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m. from the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi and Burns Funeral Home, 329 S. Washington St., Herkimer, and 10 a.m. in Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Dale Dickerson, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Mountain View Memorial Gardens. Calling hours will be Friday from 5-9 p.m. from the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi and Burns Funeral Home.
Fred G. Hunsucker
OTEGO — Fred G. Hunsucker, 67, of Otego died Thursday, June 27, 2002, at his home.
He was born Aug. 20, 1934, in Brooklyn, the son of Fred F. and Merthol O. (Nichols) Hunsucker of St. James, Long Island, N.Y.
As a young man, Fred worked with his father drilling wells. On April 21, 1957, he married Lois Yager in St. James.
Fred served his country in the U.S. Army in Permasans, Germany. Upon his discharge, he went back to well-drilling until his father's death. He then went to work for Kings Park State Hospital as a groundskeeper and later was promoted to grounds supervisor, where he remained until his retirement in 1990. He managed and coached Little League baseball for 12 years. Upon his retirement in 1990, he moved to Otego. Fred enjoyed fishing, water skiing, camping and hunting.
He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Lois Hunsucker of Otego; two sons, Fred Hunsucker of Otego and Harry and his wife, Lisa Hunsucker, of Lake Grove, Long Island, NY; three grandchildren, Samantha and Joshua Hunsucker of Lake Grove and Breanne Hunsucker of Gilbertsville; two brothers, Raymond and his wife, Isabelle Hunsucker, of Smithtown and Richard and his wife, Betty Hunsucker, of Inverness, Fla.; one sister, Joan Purcell of Bushnell, Fla.; two brothers-in-law, Robert and his wife, Hope Yager, of Goodyear Lake and Royce Yager of Otego; many nieces and nephews.
Fred was predeceased by his parents, Fred and Merthol Hunsucker, of St. James and one brother, Robert Hunsucker of St. James.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 2, at 1 p.m. at the Bookhout Funeral Home, at 357 Main St. in Oneonta, with the Rev. Judy Thistle, chaplain at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital, officiating.
Burial will follow at the Oneonta Plains Cemetery.
The family will be present at the funeral home on Monday, July 1, from 7 to 9 p.m. for those who wish to call.
It has been requested that in lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to either Catskill Area Hospice, 542 Main St., Oneonta, NY 13820 or to the Otego Emergency Squad, River Street, Otego, NY 13825 in loving memory of Fred G. Hunsucker.

Henry W. Lyall
BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. — Henry W. Lyall, 71, of Boynton Beach, Fla., died on Wednesday afternoon, June 26, 2002.
Mr. Lyall had been a longtime resident of Boynton Beach, coming from Oneonta, N.Y. He retired as the district manager of the Social Security Administration in Oneonta.
Mr. Lyall was predeceased by his beloved son, John Lyall.
He is survived by his loving wife, Catherine Murray Lyall of Boynton Beach, Fla.; one daughter, Anne Dutcher (Norman) of Albany, N.Y.; one son, James Lyall (Victoria) of Oneonta; and by his mother, Margaret Lyall of Oneonta; five grandchildren, Maryanne Dutcher, John Dutcher, Elizabeth Dutcher, Robert Lyall and Grace Lyall; and three brothers, John Lyall (Patricia), James Lyall (Barbara) and Kevin Lyall. Many other friends and family members will miss him greatly.
A memorial Mass will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 1, at St. Mark's Catholic Church in Boynton Beach, Fla. A second memorial Mass will also be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Oneonta later.
Katherine Ritchko
ONEONTA — Katherine Ritchko, 83, of Oneonta died Friday, June 27, 2002, at Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown, following a lengthy illness.
She was born Jan. 14, 1919, in Oneonta, daughter of Peter and Mary (Suchniak) Ritchko. She never married.
She was affiliated with her family in the operation of Ritchko's Food Market, located at 58 West Broadway in Oneonta, for more than 50 years until her retirement in 1990.
Katherine was a graduate of Oneonta High School. She was a giving and loving person and was very family-oriented, especially with her brothers and nephews and nieces. She was a member of St. James Episcopal Church in Oneonta.
She is survived by a brother, Arthur, and his wife, Sue Ann Ritchko, of Glenmont; five nephews and nieces and 19 grandnephews and nieces. She was predeceased by four brothers, Harry (Pete), Fred, James and Paul Ritchko.
Funeral services will be Monday, July 1, at 1 p.m. at the Lewis-Hurley Funeral Home at 51 Dietz St. in Oneonta.
Burial will be in Plains Cemetery in Oneonta.
Friends may call at the funeral home two hours before the funeral service.
Barbara J. Jones
COOPERSTOWN — Barbara J. Jones, 61, passed away on Friday, June 28, 2002, at Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown.
She was born April 19, 1941, in Morrisville, N.Y., the daughter of Robert and Gladys Newton
Mrs. Jones was born and raised in Morrisville. She lived most of her life in Cobleskill, until five years ago when she became a resident at The Meadows in Middlefield.
She is survived by her children, Shari Jones of South New Berlin, Cory Jones of Florida and Tracy and her husband, Don Finger of Westford; and three grandchildren.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, June 30, from noon until the funeral service time at 1 p.m. at the Heller Funeral Home in Schenevus, with the Rev. Thomas J. Snyder, pastor at the Westford and Schenevus Methodist churches, officiating.
Burial will take place at the Morrisville Rural Cemetery in Morrisville.
Funeral arrangements are by the Heller Funeral Home at 25 Arch St. in Schenevus.
Andrew J. Kotz
COLUMBIA, Md. — Andrew Jonathan Kotz of Columbia, Md., 2 years and 10 months old, unexpectedly passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2002.
He was the beloved son of Peter J. and Carolyn A. (Spindler) Kotz and loving brother of Emilie Anne, Ian Joseph and Peter John.
Andrew was the cherished grandson of Dr. and Ms. Henry A. (Jean) Spindler of Columbia, Md., and Dr. and Ms. John (Kathrine) Kotz of Oneonta, N.Y., and great-grandson of Ms. Gloria N. Herrick and Ms. Shirley L. Cowlin.
Services were held on Wednesday, June 26, at St. John's Episcopal Church in Ellicott City, Md., with burial in Columbia Memorial Park.
