George Campbell

OTEGO — George A. Campbell, 75, of Otego, died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2002, at his residence.

He was born March 21, 1926, in Schenevus, the son of George L. and Louise (Stilwell) Campbell.

George made his livelihood in the construction business.

He was a U.S. Marine, of which he was very proud.

He is survived by his wife, Martha Bugbee Campbell, of Otego; a son, Dennis R. Campbell of La Plata, Md.; two daughters, Donna C. Braham of Mount Morris, Pa., and Deidra C. D'Avignon of Toronto, Canada; one brother, Robert G. Campbell of South Farmingdale, Long Island, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements are private at George's request.

If so desired, friends may call at the family home.

Funeral arrangements are by the Bookhout Funeral Home, Oneonta and Otego.

Anna Petersen

JEFFERSON — Anna Petersen, 96, of  Jefferson, formerly of Head of the Harbor, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 15, 2001.

She was the beloved wife of the late Walter.

She was the devoted mother of Robert and his wife, Barbara; cherished grandmother of James (deceased); loving great-grandmother of Erik and his wife, Elizabeth, and Alexander; and great-great-grandmother of Leah.

Anna was very civic-minded, a lady who gave countless hours of her time to her community.

She loved flowers and gardening, tending to all the flowers and plants surrounding her home, many of which she brought to  Jefferson from Long Island.

A memorial service to celebrate her life will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, at the Sacred Heart Church in Stamford, celebrated by the Rev. Anthony Ligato.

Cory J. Beisler

MILFORD — Cory J. Beisler, 19, of Milford, died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2002, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

He was born in Springfield, Va., a son of Paul and Stacey (Leven) Beisler on April 5, 1982.

Cory moved to the Milford area in 1988 and graduated from Milford Central School in 2000. While in school, he enjoyed playing basketball and soccer.

He was currently employed at Hunter Mountain as a ski lift attendant, and this past summer as a bellman at the Otesaga Hotel in Cooperstown.

Cory enjoyed music, especially Pink Floyd and Led Zepelin; was an avid basketball player; working with computers; as well as snowboarding. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and his many friends.

He is survived by his father, Paul Beisler, and his fiance, Teresa Bedford of Milford; his mother, Stacey Beisler of Stamford; a sister and brother, Jamie and Ryan Beisler of Milford; his maternal grandparents, Donna Leven of Milford and Richard Leven of Annapolis, Md.; aunts and uncles, Debbie and Gerald Topley of North Carolina, Shawnee Smith of Baltimore, Md., Bobbee Soto of Las Vegas, Nev., Diana and Kelly Brewer of Georgia, Brett and Yvonne Leven of Virginia, Ralph and Nancy Beisler of Hobart, Alan and Kathy Beisler of Stamford, David and Elizabeth Beisler of Milford; a great-aunt, Lolo Delaney of Oneonta; numerous cousins; and many, many friends.

He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Henry and Dorothy Beisler; a grandfather, Robert Franz; and a cousin, Jason Hanson.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2002, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Tillapaugh Funeral Home in Milford, when the family will be in attendance.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2002, at 1 p.m. at the Milford United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Robert Kazinski, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in the form of memorial contributions may be made to the Huntington Disease Society of America, Research Department, 158 W. 29th St., 7th Floor, New York, NY 10001.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Tillapaugh Funeral Service, Cooperstown and Milford.

Donald A. Foote

OTEGO — Donald A. Foote, 81, of Otego, died Monday, Jan. 7, 2002, at his residence.

He was born Nov. 3, 1920, in Otego, the son of Floyd A. and Susie (Harris) Foote.

He married the former Ruth Hymers on Nov. 15, 1941, in Otego, who survives him.

Don was a lifelong area resident of Otego.

He was a machinist at Bendix Corp., Sidney, for 32 years before his retirement.

He was a well-known area construction worker and worked for the Otego Evergreen Cemetery, Otego, for a number of years until recently.

He and his wife, Ruth enjoyed wintering in Zephyrhills, Fla., until ill health overcame him in recent years. Don enjoyed his work, family and traveling throughout his life.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Ruth Hymers Foote, of Otego; one son and daughter-in-law, Don and Diane Foote of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; a sister, Claudine Smith of  Pennsylvania; three grandchildren, Stephanie Foote of Long Island, Brent and Benjamin Foote, both of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; and by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Don was predeceased by his daughter, Marjorie Ann Foote, on July 29, 2001.

Funeral and committal services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, 2002, from the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oneonta, with the Rev. Craig Merritt, pastor of the Otego Baptist Church, Otego, and the Rev. Robert Wesley, retired pastor of Sidney, officiating.

Friends may call at the Bookhout Funeral Home, Oneonta, on Thursday, Jan. 10, 2002, from 10 to 11 a.m. before the funeral service when the family will be present.

Burial will be in the Otego Evergreen Cemetery in the spring.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Otego Emergency Squad, River Street, Otego, NY 13825 or the Catskill Area Hospice, 542 Main St., Oneonta, NY 13820 in memory of Donald A. Foote.

Funeral arrangements are by the Bookhout Funeral Home of Oneonta and Otego.

Harley Revett

ONEONTA — Harley Edward Revett, 90 years, of Oneonta, formerly of Wantagh, and Sebring, Fla., died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2002, at the A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital.

He was born May 25, 1911, in Raymondville, the son of William John and Nona (Pifer) Revett.

He married Letitia "Tish" Rogers on June 27, 1939, in New York City.

His 39 years in education began in Eaton and continued in Fishers Island, Ripley, Brewster and East Meadow, where he spent the final 20 years as principal at the Newbridge Road School.

In 1996, Harley and Tish moved to Oneonta from Wantagh.

Harley participated in community activities as a member of both East Meadow and Florida Kiwanis Clubs; a member of Rocket River Lodge No. 0213 in Potsdam; a member of Dunkirk Commanders No. 40 of Fredonia; Kismet Temple of New Hyde Park and he was a former president of New York State Teacher's Association.

His major loves in his life were his family, education, community services and music. He was an active member and director of church choirs and part of a barbershop quartet.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Letitia "Tish" Revett, of Oneonta; one daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Sy Lloyd of Otego; two sons and a daughter-in-law, William R. Revett of Albuquerque, N.M., and Robert R. and Moira Revette of Phoenix, Ariz.; six grandchildren, Laurie Jean Wallace, Jeffrey Lloyd, Christopher Lloyd, Jonathan Revett, Timothy Revett and David Revette; three great-grandchildren, Sara Jean Revett, Isaac Revett and Soloman Revett; and two nieces, Donna Goens and Barbara Fox.

Harley was predeceased by a daughter, Sandra Jean Revett; and a sister, Ruth R. Jones.

A funeral service will be held at Bayside Cemetery, Potsdam, at the convenience of the family.

It has been requested that memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army or to the charity of one's choice.

Funeral arrangements are by Bookhout Funeral Home, Oneonta.

Beatrice Ells Kydd

LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. — Beatrice Ells Kydd died in Lawrenceville, N.J., on the afternoon of Dec. 4, 2001, having just celebrated her 98th birthday. She had been frail but in reasonably good health until a few weeks before passing peacefully away, attended by her family.

She was born Ruth Beatrice Ells in Groveton, N.H., on Oct. 27, 1903, the fourth daughter and fifth living child of Frank P. and Lydia H. Ells. She grew up in Berlin, N.H., and graduated from Berlin High School in 1920.

She was fond of contrasting her uncertain health as a child to her long life as an adult.

She was a 1924 graduate of Mount Holyoke College and worked after graduation for the YWCA in New York and Florida.

She married David M. Kydd, M.D., in June 1929, in New Haven, Conn.

In 1934, they moved to Cooperstown, N.Y., where she was active in the local garden club, a lifetime avocation.

Following travel to military posts during World War II, the Kydds moved back to New Haven and in 1952 to Brooklyn, N.Y., where Dr. Kydd was a professor of medicine and Mrs. Kydd was active in the Brooklyn Botanic garden.

She and Dr. Kydd retired to Cooperstown in 1969, where they lived at 28 Fair St., until 1989. They spent their final years together at the Thanksgiving Home until Dr. Kydd's death in 1995. Her last years were spent in the Lawrenceville Nursing Home.

She is survived by her son, Paul H. Kydd, and daughter-in-law, Priscilla C. Kydd, of Lawrenceville; and grandsons, David M. of Trenton, N.J., and Andrew H. of Cambridge, Mass.

Angelina Wagner

SOUTH NEW BERLIN — Angelina M. Wagner of South New Berlin passed away Jan. 5, 2002, in Stamford.

She was born on Aug. 28, 1912, in East Meredith, the daughter of Nicholas and Catherine (Defore) Mondillo.

She married Kenneth Wagner on June 21, 1930. He predeceased her Aug. 27, 1977.

She spent her childhood in the Oneonta area.

She is survived by daughter, Betty J. Dalrymple of Williamston, S.C.; three grandchildren, Patricia Stewart and Jean and Deborah Dalrymple; six great-grandchildren; and sisters, Ann Oliver of Oneonta, and Rose McPherson of Florida.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2002, at 2 p.m. at the Dakin Funeral Home, New Berlin, with the Rev. Beverly Butler of the First United Methodist Church, New Berlin, officiating.

Calling hours will be held Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2002, from 1 to 2 p.m. proceeding the funeral service at the funeral home.

Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, South New Berlin.

Daniel Timer

MOUNT VISION — Daniel Timer, 86, of Mount Vision, died Tuesday morning, Jan. 8, 2002, at The Meadows in Cooperstown after an extended illness.

Daniel was born March 19, 1915, in New York City, the son of the late William and Hulda Timer.

He married Jane Ann Tompkins on May 19, 1945, in Richfield Springs. The Timers lived in Laurens, North Tonawanda and Johnstown and retired to homes in Florida and Laurens before Mrs. Timer's death in May 1995, after 50 years of marriage.

Daniel served as 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Aleutian Islands.

Retired since 1978, Mr. Timer had been employed at Robertson's Contracting, Oneonta; Lyn Coach, Oneonta; Laurens Central School; and New York State Department of Transportation in Buffalo and Johnstown.

He had been an active member of the Laurens American Legion and the Laurens Masonic Lodge.

Daniel was predeceased by two brothers, William and Edward Timer; and two sisters, Frieda Kostbar and Elsa Squires.

Daniel is survived by one brother, Albert Timer, of Laurens; two sisters, Bertha George of Garrattsville and Wanda Karlen of Augusta, Maine; his son, Ronald Timer of Fort Johnson; his daughter and son-in-law, Tanya and George Decker of Mount Vision; five grandchildren, Paul Decker, Barbara Pledger, Joshua, Jacqueline and Jeffrey Timer; eight great-grandchildren, Taylor, Tierney and McKeyli Decker, Lilyanna Pledger, Maxwell, Halle, Tyler and Dezaree Timer; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral and committal services will be held on Friday, Jan. 11, 2002, at 1 p.m. at the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oneonta, with the Rev. Stephen Bicknell, pastor of the Mount Vision Bible Baptist Church, officiating.

Burial will be in the spring at the Laurens Cemetery.

The family will be present at the funeral home on Thursday evening, Jan. 10, 2002, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. for those who wish to call.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be given to Laurens Emergency Squad, Laurens, NY 13796 or Louis Busch Hager Cancer Center, Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown, NY 13326 in memory of Mr. Daniel Timer.

Funeral arrangements are by the Bookhout Funeral Home, Oneonta.

Frances Keator

CLEVELAND, Ga. — Frances Keator, 79, died unexpectedly at her home in Cleveland, Ga., on Dec. 27, 2001.

She lived in Oneonta, N.Y., most of her life.

She was born on April 30, 1922.

She is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Pat and Joe Rifenbark of Green Cove Springs, Fla., Shirley and Tom Nightingale of Deposit, N.Y., and Linda Devereaux of Georgia; three sons and daughters-in-law, Butch and Linda Keator of Otego, N.Y., Gary and Linda Keator of Hudson, N.Y., and Timmy Keator of Gainesville, Ga.; many grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by two sons and a daughter.

She was laid to rest in Gainesville, Ga.

Ben Longo Eder

NEWPORT, Ore. — Benjamin Alan Eder was born in Coos Bay, Ore., on March 22, 1980. He died on Dec. 11, 2001, lost at sea along with three other men, Rob Thompson, Steve Langlot and Jared Hamrick, while fishing for Dungeness crab aboard the F/V Nesika.

Until 1986, Ben lived in Port Orford, Ore., after which he moved with his family to Newport, Ore.

Ben attended local schools and graduated from Newport High School in 1998, as a salutatorian.

For his freshman and sophomore years, he studied at Reed College, in Portland, Ore., taking a leave of absence during the 2000-01 school year to travel for six months in South America. Upon his return, he enrolled in September 2001 as a junior at the University of Oregon in Eugene, with a double major in biochemistry and international relations.

Ben loved to travel and did so extensively. In addition to traveling across the United States several times and to Brazil, Panama, Chile, Uruguay, Argentina and Bolivia while in South America, Ben had traveled to Israel, British Columbia, the Dominican Republic and Venezuela.

He is survived by his parents, Bob Eder and Michele Longo Eder; and his brother, Dylan Eder, all of Newport, Ore.; his grandparents, Edie Eder of Los Angeles,  Calif., and Joe and Betty Longo of Worcester, N.Y.; his aunts and uncles, Lorna and Alan Eder and Harvey Eder of Los Angeles,  Calif., and Linda and Marc Longo of Milford, N.Y.; and many cousins and innumerable friends.

Memorial services were held on Dec. 15 and Dec. 21, 2001, in Newport, Ore.

To honor his memory, the Ben Eder Memorial Scholarship at Newport High School, Newport, Ore. has been established.

Lynn VanBuren

AUBURN,  Calif. — Lynn Clinton VanBuren, 92, passed away Jan. 5, 2002, in Auburn,  Calif.

He was born on June 8, 1909, in Mount Vision, N.Y.

He was a resident of Placer County for the past 21/2 years.

He retired from Boeing International, and owned several sign painting businesses.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Josephine VanBuren, of Meadow Vista,  Calif.; children, Marcia Phillips of Glendale, Ariz., Lori L. Rech of Meadow Vista,  Calif., Josalyn D'Antonio of Bell Canyon,  Calif., Richard VanBuren of Perry, Maine, and Patricia Frum of Westlake Village,  Calif.; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Jan. 10, 2002, at 1 p.m. at Oakwood Memorial Park Chapel, Chatsworth,  Calif.

Interment will be in Oakwood Memorial Park, Chatsworth,  Calif.

Donations may be made to Sutter Auburn Hospice or Health for All.

Services are under the direction of Chapel of the Hills.

William McCallum

GUILFORD — Memorial services for William McCallum, of Guilford, who passed away Friday, Dec. 21, 2001, will be held on Saturday, Jan. 12, 2002, at 5 p.m. from the Norwich Branch of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. President Richard Wright will preside.

Arrangements are by the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home.
