Mary Miner
Salem, N.Y. - Mary F. Miner, 76, of Salem, passed away peacefully on Friday morning, Sept. 5, 2008 at Wesley Health Care Center in Saratoga Springs with her husband by her side.
Mary was born on May 29, 1932 in Cambridge, the daughter of Ella Welch Waite of the Hoosick Falls Health Center and the late Irwin Waite.
Mary graduated in 1950 from Salem Washington Academy and enjoyed traveling with her husband, Donald, to Hawaii, Wales, Florida, the Virgin Islands, California, Maine and especially enjoyed going to the Bahamas, where they vacationed for 25 years. Mary loved making ceramics, cooking and especially enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Jack Wheeldon Sr.
GREENWICH - Jack D. Wheeldon Sr. of Greenwich passed away on Sept. 4, 2008.
A Masonic and Elks service for the public will be held to honor Mr. Wheeldon at 7 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 8, 2008 at the Ashlar Masonic Lodge, 2543 Route 40 (just north of the rotary), Greenwich.
A reception will follow immediately after, at the B.P.O. Elks Lodge, 2223 Route 40, Greenwich. Friends may call from 6 p.m., prior to the service, at the Masonic Lodge.
Linda L. (Bardin) Brown
FORT EDWARD - Linda L. (Bardin) Brown, 64, of Fort Edward, passed away peacefully, on Friday, Sept. 5, 2008, at the Glens Falls Hospital, after her third battle with cancer.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St., Hudson Falls.
Rachel Sherman
Lake Luzerne - Rachel Sherman, 84, of East River Drive, died Thursday, Sept. 4, 2008, at Glens Falls Hospital, following a short illness.
Born on Oct. 10, 1923 in Corinth, she married John Sherman in Gloversville. The couple resided in Lake Luzerne for many years. He died in 1967.
Mrs. Sherman enjoyed gardening, needlepoint and embroidery, and was especially devoted to her family.
Margaret Sheloski
Fort Edward - Margaret "Bummer" Sheloski, 43, of county Route 46 went into the arms of her Lord with her loving family surrounding her on Thursday, Sept. 4, 2008, at the Albany Medical Center. She fought with all her strength and courage until she left with the angels.
Born on Nov. 15, 1964 in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of Joe and Marion (Vincent) Sheloski.
Margaret was a transportation manager for Path/Phoenix Truck Lines in Greenwich for the past six years.
Larry R. Griffith
GLENS FALLS - Larry R. Griffith, 61, of Peck Avenue, Glens Falls, passed away Friday morning, Sept. 5, 2008, at Glens Falls Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Calling hours will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2008, at the Maynard D. Baker Funeral Home, 11 Lafayette St., Queensbury.
Thomas Piesik
SPRING HILL, Fla. - Thomas "Tom" G. Piesik, 61, of Spring Hill, Fla., passed away on Thursday, Sept. 4, 2008 at Spring Hill Regional Hospital.
He was born in Milwaukee, Wis. and came here 11 years ago from Glens Falls, N.Y.
He was a member of the U.S. Army Reserves.
Robert Joseph McCabe Jr.
CAMBRIDGE - Robert Joseph McCabe Jr., 88, attended by his family at home, Robert "Bud" McCabe passed peacefully into the arms of the Lord Monday, Sept. 1 , 2008.
The son of the late Robert and Elizabeth (Clayton) McCabe, Bud was born on May 30, 1921, in Paterson, N.J., where he lived most of his life.
He enlisted in the United States Army in 1944, and was stationed in Newfoundland, Canada, where he met his wife, Thelma (Lilly). They were married Sept. 27, 1946, after his honorable discharge and were happily married for more than 50 years until Thelma's death in 1997.
Delbert J. Clark
Belcher, N.Y. - Delbert J. Clark, 76, of Belcher, passed away Friday evening, Sept. 5, 2008, at Glens Falls Hospital with his wife at his side. Mr. Clark was born Sept. 27, 1931 in Belcher, the son of the late Albert and Euphie (Bain) Clark. He graduated in 1949 from Salem Washington Academy and was employed for 33 years with the Washington County Highway Department as a machine operator, retiring in 1987. Mr. Clark enjoyed hunting, trapping and working around his home.
He is survived by his wife, Anne Ponda Clark, whom he married Oct. 16, 1957; two daughters, Valerie Clark of South Glens Falls and Deanne Clark of Jupiter, Fla.; a brother, John Clark of Argyle and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by a daughter, Jennifer S. Clark in 1973 and a son, Kevin Jay Clark in 1980, as well as his brother and sisters, Ella Provost, Gladys McNeil, Gordon Clark, Jean Morse and Elizabeth Golden.
Linda L. (Bardin) Brown
FORT EDWARD - Linda L. (Bardin) Brown, 64, of Fort Edward, passed away peacefully, on Friday, Sept. 5, 2008, at the Glens Falls Hospital, after her third battle with cancer.
Born on March 15, 1944, in Fort Miller, she was the daughter of the late Roger and Margaret (Weatherwax) Bardin.
For many years, she was employed as a home health aide in this area.
Elbridge P. Webster
Woodstock, Vt. - Elbridge P. Webster, 90, went home to be with the Lord Thursday morning Sept. 4, 2008, at the Mertens House in Woodstock, Vt.
Mr. Webster was born on Sept. 21, 1917, in Pomfret, Vt., the son of Volney Ira and Mildred (Perry) Webster.
Mr. Webster attended grades one through eight at the one-room schoolhouse in Pomfret and graduated from Woodstock High School in 1936. He learned the trade of carpentry through working for C. T. Maxham for two years, but returned to farming until he was drafted into service in 1941. Mr. Webster served proudly in the U.S. Army during World War II in Tunisia, Sicily, Normandy, northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and throughout central Europe. When he returned home in 1949 he married Helen Celia Bartley on June 19. Mr. and Mrs. Webster took over the family farm in Pomfret as a dairy farm and ran it until 1965. After retiring from farming Mr. Webster worked for a number of builders in the area including C. T. Maxham, Max Boynton, Heinrich Salvelberg, Melvin Young, Trumbell-Nelson, and A. W. Frizzell & Sons. In 1997, Mr. Webster sold the family farm in Pomfret and lived at the Homestead for many years before moving to the Mertens House.

Warrensburg - James "Jimmie" B. Hamblin, 77, of Schroon River Road, Warrensburg, passed away peacefully, on Friday Sept. 5, 2008, at Glens Falls Hospital following a brief illness surrounded by his loving family members.

SOUTH GLENS FALLS - Boris Korobovsky, 85, peacefully passed away Saturday morning, Sept. 6, 2008, after a long illness at The Pines of Glens Falls, with his loving wife by his side.
Boris was born on July 26, 1923, in Pechore, Estonia, to Leonty and Maria (Piller) Korobovsky.
He grew up in a White Russian community, as his father, loyal to the crown, fled the Bolshevik revolution.

Born in Hogtown, West Fort Ann, on May 27, 1931, he was the son of Burton and Eva (Granger) Hamblin.
Jimmie was stricken with polio as an infant, but always managed to be self-reliant.

TICONDEROGA - Robert A. "Bob" Clark, 57, of Ticonderoga, passed away Saturday, Sept. 6, 2008 at the Glens Falls Hospital.
Born in Ticonderoga, July 16, 1951, he is the son of Sherry and Flossie (Dockum) Clark of Ticonderoga.
Mr. Clark was a lifetime resident of Ticonderoga and a graduate of Ticonderoga High School.

SOUTH HARTFORD - Edward R. Beebe, 85, of state Route 40, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 6, 2008, at the Glens Falls Hospital.
Born on June 9, 1923, in Putnam, he was the son of the late Roswell M. and Mary (Conley) Beebe.
Ed graduated from Fort Ann Central School. On June 9, 1945, he married Eleanor Abare at St. Mary's Church in Glens Falls.

QUEENSBURY - Clara B. Anderson, 90, a longtime Corinth Road resident, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 7, 2008, at The Pines, in Glens Falls, after a short illness.

Mary G. Collins
GLENS FALLS - Mary G. Collins, age 102, formerly of Glens Falls, died on Monday, Sept. 8, 2008, at Fort Hudson Nursing Home where she was a resident of B-Wing.
She was born on March 24, 1906, in Williamstown, N.Y. she was the daughter of Edward and Helena (Healy) Gorman. Mary was a beloved, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, teacher, and woman of great faith.
Mrs. Collins was a fifth-grade teacher in the Glens Falls School District. She showed interest in using television in the classroom. Her fifth-grade class was used a study group to determine the feasibility of that technique. She also was among the teachers to introduce her students to "news circle" with the idea of using newspapers and magazines for teaching tools thus enhancing their listening, thinking, reading, reflecting and discussing abilities, giving them increased knowledge of world affairs.
Linda M. Squires
GREENWICH - Linda M. Squires, 55, of Greenwich, passed away peacefully on Monday, Sept. 8, 2008, in her home following a long, courageous battle with cancer, with her daughter Toni Marie by her side.
Linda was born in Glens Falls on Sept. 17, 1952, the daughter of Edward and Foresta Montgomery.
She was a graduate of Argle Central School, and a longtime employee of the Greenwich Kmart store.
Cassie Raye Jackson
GLENS FALLS - Cassie Raye Jackson, 87, passed away Thursday, Sept. 4, 2008, at the Glens Falls Hospital.
Born Sept. 13, 1920, in Luverne, Ala., she was the daughter of Albert and Cora Jackson.
Cassie relocated to Glens Falls in 1957, and was lovingly known as the matriarch of her community because of her remarkable and colorful life. Her life's work was helping others. She was an encouragement and motivator to all who knew her; not only for her family, but anyone that needed her.
