Patricia Zaccagnino

CHERRY VALLEY — Patricia A. Zaccagnino, 37, of Cherry Valley Road, died on Saturday, Sept. 8, 2001, in Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

She was born on Dec. 28, 1963, in New Hartford, a daughter of Lyle T. Wilbert and Patricia A. Meyers Wilbert Feik. A lifelong area resident, she was educated in Richfield Springs. She was married to Leonard Zaccagnino.

She had an outgoing personality and enjoyed being with people and was always willing to help a friend. She enjoyed gardening and took pride in her flowers and rock garden display. Patti had a great appreciation for the arts, taking an extraordinary interest in poetry at a young age, she wrote for pleasure and serenity. However, her family and home were her first priority and love. She was a dear friend to many, a loving daughter and sister, a devoted wife and mother, and will live in their hearts forever.

Surviving besides her parents, Lyle T. Wilbert of Richfield Springs and Patricia A. Feik of Palm Reach Fla.; are her husband, Leonard; four children, Courtney Lyn Maine, James Lester Mott, Roberta Joyce Marie and Jordan Rose Zaccagnino, all of the home address; four brothers, John and his wife, Sheryl Maine, of Mocksville, N.C., Rick Maine of Jordanville, Jeffrey Lyle Wilbert of Hartwick and Victor Maine of Rochester; four sisters, Sherry  White of Industry, Ill., Kim Soule of Cooperstown, Susan Behr of Richfield Springs and Amy and her husband, James Gillette, of West Winfield; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will present to receive relatives and friends in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, at 40 W. James St. in Richfield Springs, on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m.

The funeral service will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Memorial donations may be made to Students Against Destructive Decisions, c/o Cherry Valley Central School. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Josephine Zambri

LITTLE FALLS — Mrs. Josephine T. (Trotto) Zambri, 84, of 30 Petrie St., Little Falls, beloved wife of the late Rosario (Sam) Zambri, passed away unexpectedly on Monday morning, Sept. 3, 2001, in Little Falls Hospital.

Josephine is survived by her beloved son and daughter-in-law, David and Patricia Zambri of Grand Gorge, N.Y.; a brother, Daniel Trotto of Little Falls; three sisters: Louise Guisto and husband Albert of Las Vegas, Elvira Ferjanec and husband Frank of Florida and Barbara Palmer and husband Kenneth of Little Falls; a cherished grandchild who was dear to her heart, Brad C. Zambri of Grand Gorge; and in-laws Rocco and Antoinette Zambri of Waterville. Also surviving are many extended family members in the area including several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by a brother, Louis Trotto, and a sister, Mary Colangelo.

Relatives and friends were invited to the Enea Funeral Home, at 24 W. Monroe St. in Little Falls, for visitation on Thursday evening Sept. 6, 2001, from 5 to 8 p.m. where the family was present.

Josephine's funeral commenced on Friday morning, Sept. 7. 2001, at 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home where prayer was offered by Sister Marilyn Hayes. Procession followed to Holy Family Parish Church, at the corner of East Main and John streets in Little Falls, where a Mass of Christian burial was celebrated by the Rev. Charles R. Celeste at 11 a.m.

Josephine was laid to rest in St. Mary's Cemetery in the town of Herkimer.

Remembrances in honor of Josephine may be made to the Little Falls Hospital Developmental Fund or the Holy Family Parish Restoration Fund. Envelopes may be obtained at the Enea Funeral Home, for those considering. An online sympathy note may be sent to the family at www.eneafuneralhomes.com.

Catherine O. Lynch

SIDNEY — Catherine O. Lynch, 74, beloved wife and loving mother, died Monday, Sept. 10, 2001, at The Hospital in Sidney.

She was born Dec. 11, 1926, daughter of the late Harry and Mary O'Hara in Syracuse.

Catherine graduated from Syracuse Central High in 1944 and received a bachelor of science degree in home economics education from Syracuse University in June 1948. She taught home economics in Mount Kisco for two years.

She married Dr. Howard E. Lynch on Dec. 28, 1949. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Sidney.

Catherine is survived by her husband, Dr. Howard E. Lynch, of Sidney; six sons and daughters-in-law Daniel and Sarah Lynch of Springboro, Ohio, Peter and Holli Lynch of Lake Placid, Patrick Lynch of Unadilla, Michael and Susan Lynch of San Mateo,  Calif., Vincent and Alice Lynch of Tacoma, Wash., and Joseph and Tracy Lynch of Saratoga Springs; 15 grandchildren; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and William Torrence of Ocean Pines, Md., Rita and Robert Berberich of Clifton Park; a brother and sister-in-law, Arthur and Jeanne O'Hara of Syracuse; and a brother-in-law, Anton G. Lynch of Upper Nyack.

A brother, Harry, and two sons, Timothy and Matthew, predeceased her.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 13, 2001, at Sacred Heart Church, on Liberty Street in Sidney. The Rev. Fr. Gordon Polenz, pastor, will officiate.

Friends may call Wednesday. The family will be in attendance from 7 to 9 p.m. at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, at 21 Main St. in Sidney.

Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Sidney.

Arrangements are under the direction of C.H. Landers Inc. in Sidney.

Margaret Whitehill

GILBERTSVILLE — Mrs. Margaret Ann Whitehill of 786 Copes Corners Road in South New Berlin passed away Saturday, Sept. 8, 2001, at Albany Medical Center.

Mrs. Whitehill was born April 13, 1950, in Oneonta, the daughter of Leon R. and Charlotte (McDonald) Lambert, Jr.

She married Henry Whitehill on May 17, 1969. They shared 32 years of marriage.

Mrs. Whitehill was a homemaker and spent most of her life in the area.

Survivors include her husband, Henry, of South New Berlin; her sons and their wives, Mark and Penny Whitehill of Portlandville, Sheldon and Traci Whitehill of Gilbertsville and Daniel and Korina Whitehill of Fort Knox, Ky.; her daughters and their husbands Julie and Eric Logan of South Kortright, Rachel and David Hamilton of Troy; her son, Leon Whitehill of Oneonta; her mother, Charlotte Augusta Lambert of Oxford; her sisters, Patricia Riggs, Diane Ireland, Elizabeth Palmer, Barbara Yaeger and Jeanette VanSteenburg; her brothers, Robert, David and Pete Lambert; 14 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Thursday, Sept. 13, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Joyce Funeral Home Inc. on Main Street in Unadilla.

The funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., following visiting hours on Thursday at the Joyce Funeral Home Inc., with the Rev. Nelson Parks officiating.

Burial will take place in Evergreen Hill Cemetery in Unadilla.

Contributions in Mrs. Whitehill's memory and to help with funeral expenses, may be made to Mr. Henry Whitehill, 786 Copes Corners Road, South New Berlin, NY 13843.

Arrangements are by the Joyce Funeral Home Inc. in Unadilla.

Noelle L. Lusins

ONEONTA — Noelle Louise Lusins, 34, of Oneonta, passed away peacefully Saturday morning, Sept. 8, 2001, at the A.O. Fox Hospital Nursing Home after a long illness.

She had been a resident of Oneonta since 1983.

She was born Oct. 18, 1966, in Albany, the daughter of Anna Marie Lusins and the late Dr. John O. Lusins.

She attended the Barnard School for Girls and graduated from Laurens Central School Special Education Class.

The Noelle Lusins scholarship is given each year to a student in the Laurens Central School who volunteers for the special education program.

Noelle resided at the Arc Otsego for five years, and her family would like to thank the Arc and her caregivers, in particular Tim Spoor, Sue Norton, Wanda Briley and Annie Fredenburgh, for their love and care for her during that period.

Noelle is survived by her mother, Anna Marie Lusins of Oneonta; a sister, Gillian Marie Lusins of New York, N.Y.; brothers: Carl Baessler Lusins, his wife, Jennifer Lucille Lusins and their son, Alexander Lusins; John O. Lusins III and Matthew Ronald Lusins.

A memorial service will be held at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2001, with the Rev. Paul Roman officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be directed to Arc Otsego, 35 Academy St., Oneonta, N.Y. 13820.

David L. Hawkins

FORT PLAIN — David Lawrence Hawkins, 45, passed away Friday, Sept. 7, 2001, at his home.

He was born Aug. 6, 1956, the son of Lester C. and Vivian A. (Ottman) Hawkins. On Oct. 27, 1979, he married Linda Lou Smith in the United Methodist Church in Ames. She survives.

He was a lifelong area resident and dairy farmer. He was a member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church, Ames.

Besides his wife, Linda Hawkins, he is survived by two sons, Lester Carl Hawkins and Samuel V. Hawkins, all of Fort Plain; his parents, Lester C. and Vivian Hawkins of Sprout Brook; a sister, Marilyn Shirey of Villa Ridge, Mo.; a brother, Philip Hawkins of Canajoharie; an aunt, Thelma Laymon of Duel; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Sept. 13, 2001, at 11 a.m. in the Cornerstone Baptist Church, Route 10, Ames, with the Rev. Alan Potter and the Rev. Rex Fullam officiating.

Burial will follow in the Ames Cemetery in Ames.

Calling hours will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 12, at the Ottman Funeral Home in Cherry Valley.

Contributions in Mr. Hawkins memory may be made to the Cornerstone Baptist Church in Ames.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ottman Funeral Home in Cherry Valley.

Edward Carnahan

CHATHAM, N.J. — Edward G. Carnahan, 59, formerly of Oneonta, died Friday, Sept. 7, 2001, in Chatham, N.J.

A native of Oneonta, Edward moved to New Jersey in 1978.

He was the beloved husband of Nancy Carnahan (nee Pizza), father of Sean Carnahan, stepfather of the late Jason Sladowki, brother of Charlotte Rossi and brother-in-law of Steven and Pam Secor and Garvey and Anita Pizza. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

A funeral liturgy will be celebrated at St. Vincent Martyr Roman Catholic Church, on Green Village Road in Madison, N.J., on Tuesday, Sept. 11, at 9:30 a.m.

Calling hours were held Sunday and Monday.

Those who wish may contribute in his memory to the American Cancer Society, Morris County Unit, NJ Division Inc., 669 Littleton Road, Parsippany, NJ, 07054-4836.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Bradley & Son Funeral Home in Chatham, N.J.

Isabelle Flanders

MOUNT UPTON — Isabelle Flanders, 82, of Mount Upton, passed away Monday, Sept. 10, 2001, at Wilson Memorial Hospital in  Johnson City.

She was born Aug. 7, 1919, daughter of the late Harland Strait and Marion Wright in Mount Vernon.

Isabelle married Richard Flanders on March 16, 1940, in Guilderland. He predeceased her on March 28, 1978.

She was employed as an inspector at E.C.D. of Bendix in Sidney, until she retired in 1983.

Isabelle was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW in Sidney.

Mr. and Mrs. Flanders entertained many local children by playing Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus for more than 28 years.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Freida Flanders of Susquehanna, Pa., and Michael and Victoria Flanders of Solvay; five daughters and sons-in-law, Sandy and Howard Townsend of Guilford, Vicky Ryan of Sidney, Suzanne and William Schreckengost of Colorado Springs,  Colo., Diane and Don Foote of Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Kathy and Tim Hudson of Mount Upton; faithful puppy, Holly Berry; 26 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held, Friday, Sept. 14, 2001, at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, at 21 Main St. in Sidney, at 11 a.m. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday. Burial will be in West St. Johnsville Cemetery in St. Johnsville on Saturday, at 10 a.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Arrangements are under the direction of C.H. Landers Inc. of Sidney.

Eva M. Harvey

ERIN — Eva M. Harvey, 86, of Erin, passed away Sept. 11, 2001, at Arnot-Ogden Memorial Hospital in Elmira.

She was born Jan. 16, 1915, in Palentown, the daughter of Joseph M. Lennon and Clara L. Barringer.

She married Joe O. Harvey. He died Oct. 24, 1983.

She was a homemaker. Before moving to Erin, Eva lived in Roxbury, Arkville and New Kingston.

She enjoyed flowers and did a lot of baking and cooking.

She is survived by two daughters, Dorothy Ruff and Eula M. Slauson; one sister, Mary Ballard of Margaretville; her companion of several years, Perry E. Perry of Erin; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, 2001, at Hynes Funeral Home in Margaretville, with the Rev. Charles Gockel officiating. Burial will be in Palentown Cemetery in Palentown.

Calling hours will be held Friday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Hynes Funeral Home.

Funeral arrangements are by the Hynes Funeral Home of Margaretville.

Beatrice E. Ingram

MARGARETVILLE — Beatrice E. (Bea) Ingram, 71, of Margaretville, passed away after a lengthy illness, Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2001, at the Hudson Memorial Hospital in Hudson, with her husband and children present.

She was born June 11, 1930, in Vega, the daughter of Arthur Williman and Hazel Myers.

She married Glen Ingram in New Kingston on Oct. 22, 1950.

She was a homemaker and assisted her husband in his business. She was a lifelong area resident.

She was a member of the Ulster & Delaware County IOOB's for the last 20 years.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 51 years, Glen Ingram of Margaretville; one son and daughter-in-law, Chuck and Christina Ingram of Margaretville; one daughter and son-in-law, Dawn and Ralph Wright of Richmond, Va.; four grandchildren, Glen, Jay and Samantha Wright of Richmond, Va., and Caranne Ingram of Margaretville; one niece, Marie Leguire of Schenectady; one nephew and his wife, Gordon and Ellie Williman of Arkville; plus numerous extended family members and friends.

She was predeceased by her father and mother and two brothers, Ernest and Kenneth Williman.

Funeral Mass will be held Friday, Sept. 14, 2001, at 10 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Church in Margaretville, with the Very Rev. Robert H. Purcell officiating. Burial will be in the Margaretville Cemetery Annex.

Calling hours will be held Thursday, Sept. 13, 2001, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Hynes Funeral Home.

Contributions may be made in memory of Beatrice Ingram to the Humane Society of Central Delaware County, Route 10, Bloomville Road, Delhi, NY.

Funeral arrangements are by the Hynes Funeral Home of Margaretville.

Sandra M. Banks

OTEGO — Sandra M. Banks, 48, of Mill Creek Estates in Otego, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2001, at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital in Oneonta, following an extended illness.

She was born Oct. 23, 1952, in Oneonta, the daughter of Almon and Eva (Barnes) Monroe.

She was married to Howard R. Banks Jr., on June 30, 1973, in Unadilla.

Sandra was a lifelong Oneonta-area resident and enjoyed her many bus trips, walking and bicycling with her husband. She loved her cats, her porcelain dolls, her many crafts, sewing and crocheting.

She was a former employee of Valley Fashion Apparel of Oneonta. She was also involved with TOPS of Norwich.

Sandra is survived by her husband, Howard R. Banks Jr. of Otego; her mother, Eva Monroe of Oneonta; her sister, Frances Monroe of Oneonta; her brothers, George Monroe of Sidney, Carl Monroe of Rome, Charles Monroe of Bainbridge and John Monroe of Otego; her mother-in-law, Edna Banks of Mount Upton; several sisters and brothers-in-law; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral and committal services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 14, 2001, at the Westcott Funeral Home in Unadilla, with the Rev. Douglas A. Horne, pastor of the Afton and Nineveh Presbyterian Churches, officiating.

Burial will be in Plains Cemetery in Oneonta.

Friends may call at the Westcott Funeral Home in Unadilla on Thursday, Sept. 13, 2001, from 7 to 9 p.m., when the family will be in attendance.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Catskill Area Hospice Inc., 542 Main St., Oneonta, NY 13820.

Funeral arrangements are by the Westcott Funeral Home of Unadilla.
