Susan Lee Meyers

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — Susan Lee Russell Meyers, 55, of Bridgeport, Conn., died May, 27, 2001, in her home.

Mrs. Meyers was born in Bridgeport to Wesley and Helen Frederickson Russell.

She was a longtime resident of Schenevus, N.Y., before moving back to Bridgeport in 1997.

She worked in the insurance industry for many years, and was more recently employed in the service department at Keating Ford in Stratford, Conn.

Survivors include her daughter, Lacy, and her husband, Eric Miller, of Selma, Ore.; her brother, William, and his wife, Patricia Russell, of Stratford, Conn.; two grandchildren, Eric Miller and Cassandra Miller; her maternal aunt, Marion Siksay of Fairfield, Conn.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, June 2, at 10 a.m. in the lower church at St. Patrick's Church, North Avenue, Bridgeport, Conn., followed by the rosary. Interment will be private.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Daughters of Charity of the Most Precious Blood, 1490 North Ave, Bridgeport, Conn. 06604, care of Sr. Theresa Tremblay.

Arrangements are by the Cyril F. Mullins Trumbull Funeral Home, 399  White Plains Rd., Trumbull, Conn.

Dorothy Campbell

COOPERSTOWN — A memorial service for Dorothy Bostwick Campbell, who died Feb. 16, 2001, will be held at Christ Church in Cooperstown at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 2, 2001. Burial will follow at Lakewood Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Tillapaugh Funeral Service, Cooperstown and Milford.

Eric T. Darling

MIDDLEFIELD — Committal and burial services for Eric T. Darling, who died Feb. 15, 2001, will be on Friday, June 1, 2001, at 11 a.m. in the Middlefield Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Tillapaugh Funeral Service, Cooperstown and Milford.

Mary V. Kerzich

YUMA, Ariz. — Committal services for Mary V. Kerzich, R.N., 94, who passed away March 7, 2001, will be held on Friday, June 1, 2001, at 10 a.m. in the St. Mary's Cemetery, Index. Burial will follow.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ottman Funeral Home, Cherry Valley.

George Stillman

GILBERTSVILLE — George Laurence Stillman, 46, formerly of Gilbertsville, passed away Wednesday, May 23, 2001, surrounded by his family at the Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center, Phoenix, Ariz.

He was born April 9, 1955, at The Hospital, Sidney, the son of Louis G. and Sheila (Leal) Stillman of Gilbertsville.

George graduated from the Gilbertsville Central School and SUNY Morrisville.

He was married to Kathleen E. Gorton on April 6, 1985, in Laurens.

George and Kathy moved to Phoenix, Ariz., in 1994, where he worked as a security guard.

George was an avid hunter and fisherman who enjoyed the outdoors. He especially enjoyed playing Santa Claus at Christmas for his niece and nephew and the other children of the Phoenix area. His greatest thrill was motorcycling from Morris to Phoenix.

He is survived by his loving wife, Kathy; his mother, Sheila, of Oneonta; three sisters, Marion Gero and her husband, Bob, of Nineveh, Carol Geer and her husband, Kenneth, of Gilberts-ville and Muriel Stillman of Harpursville; a brother-in-law, Harold Eastwood, of Eaton; his father- and mother-in-law, Burt and Lena Gorton; four brothers-in-law, Edward and his wife, Jan Gorton, of Sanford, N.C., David Gorton of Plymouth, Raymond and his wife, Lynne, of Garrattsville, and Martin and his wife, Ruth Gorton, of South Hadley, Mass.; and two sisters -in-law, Martha and her husband, Philip Holmes, of Glendale, Ariz., and Susan Gorton of Phoenix, Ariz.; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and his special friend, his dog, Zeus.

He was predeceased by his father, Louis, and a sister, Antonia (Tony) Eastwood.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2001, at 2 p.m. at the Holy Cross R.C. Church in Morris, with the Rev. John Burns officiating. A reception for family and friends will be held after the service at the home of Burt and Lena Gorton, 7 Water St., Morris.

A memorial service was conducted in Arizona at the Best Funeral Services, West Valley Chapel, Peoria, on Saturday, May 26, 2001.

Those who wish may donate to the Gilbertsville Emergency Squad in George's memory.

Local arrangements are by the Johnston Funeral Home, Morris.

David Percy

SEBRING, Fla. — David Graham Percy, 61, of Sebring, Fla., passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2001.

He was born April 17, 1940, in Rochester, N.Y., to Willard Cone and Marion (nee Allison) Percy.

He grew up in Kenmore, N.Y., and has been a resident of Sebring, Fla., since February 2000, coming from Walton, N.Y.

He was retired from Kraft Foods as an accountant manager after 28 years and then worked part-time as a proofreader for the Walton Reporter.

He was a member of the Christ Episcopal Church in Walton, St. Agnes Episcopal Church in Sebring, Fla., and the Delaware County Republican Committee and was on the Walton Zoning Board of Appeals, the Ogden Free Library Board and served in the 174th US Air National Guard in Syracuse, N.Y., during the 1960s.

Survivors include his wife, Karen Percy, of Sebring, Fla.; daughter, Meredith Anne Booz, of Landsdale, Pa., sons, James David Percy of Jacksonville, Fla., Brett William Percy of Oneonta, N.Y., and Petty Officer 2nd Class Jonathan Graham Percy of Greenfield Center, N.Y.; one grandchild; and brother, John W. Percy, of Kenmore, N.Y.

Memorial services were held Saturday, May 12, 2001, at 2 p.m. at St. Agnes Episcopal Church in Sebring, Fla., with the Rev. James Kurtz officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to Christ Episcopal Church or the Ogden Free Library in Walton.

Funeral arrangements were by Stephenson-Nelson Funeral Home, Sebring, Fla.

Norman L. Cady

NEW BERLIN — Norman L. Cady, 87, of New Berlin, died Tuesday, May 29, 2001, at A.O. Fox Hospital in Oneonta.

He was born Feb. 20, 1914, in Burlington, the son of William C. and Mary (Eaton) Cady.

He married Doris H. DeRosia on Oct. 31, 1942, in Oneonta.

Norman retired from the Kraft Plant in South Edmeston.

He was a member of the Second Baptist Church in Edmeston.

Norman is survived by his wife, Doris; his two children and their spouses, Lorraine and Ralph Washburn of Bridgewater, and Kevin and Martha Cady of Summit Lake; six grandchildren, Brian Washburn, Brian Cady, Robert Cady, Amy Roys, Melinda Belden and Nicole Hayes; five great-grandchildren, Thomas Washburn, Ashley Roys, Joshua Roys, Matthew Belden and Jacob Belden; his brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Margaret Cady; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his son Brian T. Cady on Jan. 15, 1968.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2001, at 11 a.m. at the Houk-Johnston-Terry Funeral Home, Edmeston, with the Rev. John Young officiating. Calling hours are Friday, June 1, 2001, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Interment will be at Edmeston Union Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Norman's memory to the ACCCY; envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Arrangements are by Houk-Johnston-Terry Funeral Home, Edmeston.

Paul Matusik

MOHAWK — Mr. Paul Matu-sik, 85, of 2432 State Route 28, Mohawk, town of German Flatts, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 29, 2001, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica.

He was born on March 15, 1916, in Myjava, Czechoslovakia, the son of the late John and Anna Matusik.

He was educated in schools in his native country and moved to the United States in 1947.

Paul joined in marriage with Susie Duga on May 26, 1936.

He was last employed with Remington Arms in Ilion, and was a member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Little Falls.

He is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth Mizerak Fidrich, and her husband, John, of San Mateo,  Calif.; four grandchildren, Susie Ann Mizerak, Karen Elizabeth Mizerak-Mohun and her husband, Richard, Paul D. Matusik of Illinois, and James Matusik of Herkimer; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a son, Paul D. Matusik, along with several brothers and a sister.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 2, 2001, at 10 a.m. at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Gansevoort Street, Little Falls, with the Rev. Roger Beiswenger officiating. A procession will follow to the Holy Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Little Falls, where interment will take place.

Calling hours at the Enea Funeral Home, 24 West Monroe St., Little Falls, will be held on Friday, June 1, 2001, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Arrangements are by the Enea Funeral Home, Little Falls.

Margaret Tait

GRAND GORGE — Margaret Tait, 75, of Grand Gorge, died May 29, 2001, at A.O. Fox Hospital, Oneonta.

She was born March 30, 1926, in Equinox, Pa., the daughter of Howard T. Rose and Dorothy M. Swendson.

She was the owner and operator of the Tait Colonial Motel, Grand Gorge, for 25 years.

She was a lifelong area resident.

She graduated from Roxbury Central School in 1944.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Grand Gorge.

She is survived by four sons, Richard Tait, Grand Gorge, Robert Tait, of Prattsville, Dennis Tait, of Dallas,  Texas, and David Tait, of Tempe, Ariz.; five grandchildren; two brothers, Howard Rose of Hensonville, and Charles Rose of Stamford; two sisters, Linda Brannen of Grand Gorge and Georgia Boula of Reidsville, Ga.; 12 nieces and eight nephews.

She was predeceased by two brothers, Thomas Rose and Marvin Rose; two sisters, Emily Rose and Daisy Ingram; and by her stepmother, Daisy Rose.

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 1, 2001, at 11 a.m. at the Jay Gould Memorial Reformed Church, Roxbury, with the Rev. Richard Dykstra officiating.

Burial will be in the Roxbury Cemetery, Roxbury.

Calling hours will be Thursday, May 31, 2001, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Miller Funeral Home, Roxbury.

Funeral arrangements are by Miller Funeral Home, Roxbury.

Jack M. Laiosa

SEBRING, Fla. — Jack M. Laiosa, 75, of Sebring, Fla., died Tuesday, May 29, 2001, at his residence.

He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., moving to Sebring, in 1980, from Staten Island, N.Y.

Mr. Laiosa owned and operated Jack's Meat Market on Staten Island for 30 years. In Sebring, he and his wife operated Guys & Dolls Jeans in downtown Sebring.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Army, a member of Sebring Lions Club in Spring Lake and a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife, Agnes; three sons, John of Sebring, Mario of Ashtabula, Ohio, and Michael of Valrico, Fla.; a daughter, Ann Gaffney, of Sebring; a sister, Josephine Gramegna, of Brooklyn, N.Y; and two grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, June 2, 2001, at 1:30 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Stamford, N.Y., with the Rev. Anthony Ligato celebrant. Calling hours will be on Friday, June 1, 2001, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the MacArthur Funeral Home, Hobart, N.Y. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Stamford.

Arrangements are with the MacArthur Funeral Home, Hobart.

George Lyle Gallup

CLERMONT, Fla. — Mr. George Lyle Gallup, 80, of Clermont, Fla., died Saturday, May 26, 2001, from natural causes.

Mr. Gallup was born in Middlefield, N.Y. He moved to Florida in 1958.

Mr. Gallup was a self-employed mechanic. He was a member of Sports Car Club of America from 1979-2001, Living Legends of Racing, Elks Lodge, and Moose Lodge. He was a lifelong auto mechanic and loved it.

His hobbies were racing stock cars in the 1940s and 1950s in New York and racing sports cars in the 1980s and 1990s in the South. He was a bowler, fisherman, a dancer or at least enjoyed doing these things in his spare time. He was a world-class dad.

He was in the United States Army during World War II.

He is survived by sons William F. Gallup of Fernandina Beach, Fla., and Richard G. Gallup of Clermont, Fla.; a daughter, Nancy E. Hendrickson of Clermont, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Sanford J. Barnes

MIDDLEFIELD CENTER — Committal services and burial for Sanford J. ("Sandy") Barnes, 75, who died March 31, 2001, will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, June 4, 2001, in St. Mary's Cemetery, with the Rev. John P. Rosson, pastor of St. Mary's Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, officiating. Military honors will be accorded by Clark F. Simmons American Legion Post No. 579.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Connell, Dow & Deysenroth Funeral Home in Cooperstown.

Clarence Wilsey Sr.

JEFFERSON — A committal service for Clarence Wilsey Sr., 80, who died March 9, 2001, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 2, 2001, at the Summit Cemetery, with the Rev. Alan Miller officiating and full military honors presented by the Worcester American Legion Post 1584.

Arrangements are by the E.J. Skinner Co., 115 Main St., Worcester.

Beatrice Rock

WORCESTER — A committal service for Beatrice Rock, 88, who died Feb. 9, 2001, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 2, 2001, at the Maple Grove Cemetery, Worcester, with the Rev. Judith Thistle, pastor of the Worcester Second Baptist Church, officiating and the Worcester Grange No. 1274 participating.

Arrangements are by the E.J. Skinner Co., 115 Main St., Worcester.

Charlotte Beismann

CHERRY VALLEY — A committal service for Charlotte (Funke) Beismann, will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 3, 2001, at the Cherry Valley Cemetery. She died March 24, 2001, in Dayton, Ohio.
