Frank Smith Jr.
SIDNEY — Frank Smith Jr., 62, of Sidney, passed away Friday, Nov. 24, 2000, at the New York State Veterans Home, Oxford.
He was born April 22, 1938, to the late Frank and Margaret Arrons Smith in Unadilla.
Frank served his country in the United States Army from 1956-1959.
He was employed by the Amphenol Corp., Sidney, for 23 years.
Frank was a dedicated member of the Loyal Order of the Moose #277, Sidney, having served as trustee twice.
He is survived by his mother, Margaret Whitney of Florida; three sons, Frank Smith III of El Paso, Texas, Scott and Hisea Smith of Okinawa, Japan, and Daniel and Shana Smith of Anchorage, Alaska; two daughters, Heidi Smith of Mount Upton and Hayley Smith of Mount Upton; 12 grandchildren; and several other relatives.
Frank is predeceased by his wife, Bernice Deckers.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Dec. 1, 2000, at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney, at 11 a.m. Friends may call Thursday, Nov. 30, 2000; the family will be in attendance from 7 to 9 p.m. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Bainbridge.
Arrangements are under the direction of C.H. Landers Inc., Sidney.
William F. Picinich
WALTON — Dr. William F. Picinich, 72, of Walton, died unexpectedly at home on Monday, Nov. 27, 2000.
Dr. Picinich was born June 11, 1928, in Astoria, Queens, the son of Domonick and Virginia Maturano Picinich.
He married Nancy Chiusano on Feb. 22, 1953, in Brooklyn.
He graduated from the New York Chiropractic Institute and practiced in his profession in East Meadow, Long Island, until 1974. He then moved to Walton and continued his practice until recently.
"Doc" was a member of St. John the Baptist R.C. Church in Walton. He was also a member of the American Chiropractic Association, board member of New York Chiropractic Association, former board member of Delaware Valley Hospital, Walton Veterans Club and a 25-plus year member of the Walton Lions Club.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy of Walton; two sons, William J. of Walton and David A. of Oneonta; and five grandchildren, Nathan, Ciara, Zachary, Alec and Abigail.
A Mass of the Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2000, at 1 p.m. at St. John the Baptist R.C. Church, Walton, with the Rev. Eugene F. Willis, pastor, as the celebrant. Burial will be at a later date.
Friends may call at the Clark & Winter Funeral Home, Walton, at their convenience on Tuesday where the family will be in attendance from 6 to 8 p.m.
Memorials made in the name of Dr. William F. Picinich to St. Judes Children's Hospital, Maryland, or to the American Heart Association, would be appreciated.
John P. Green
DELHI — John P. Green, 64, of Hamden, died Sunday, Nov. 26, 2000, at O'Connor Hospital, Delhi.
He was born March 25, 1936, in Franklin, the son of Willington and Edith (Walley) Green.
He was first married to Kathy LaCotta, who survives and resides in Bainbridge. He later married Lula Stevens, and she predeceased him in May 1998.
Mr. Green was a machine operator at Scintilla in Sidney.
He is survived by a son, Danny LaCotta; a daughter, Therese LaCotta; two stepchildren, Barbara DeVires of North Carolina, and Linda Ramsey of Afton; three sisters, Betty Smith of Hamden, Martha Jones of Delhi and Mary Palmatier of Philips; several stepgrandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a son, Michael Tuttle.
Graveside services will be at the convenience of the family at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Sidney.
Arrangements are with the MacArthur Funeral Home, Delhi.
Boris Panko
PORT ORANGE, Fla. — Boris Panko, 80, died in Port Orange, Fla., on Nov. 9, 2000.
He was born in Oneonta, N.Y., to Agnes and Logan Panko and resided in the Capital Region for 40 years before moving to Florida in 1987.
Mr. Panko worked at Pratt Whitney in California during World War II, then as a turbine inspector at General Electric in Schenectady and later at Watervliet Arsenal.
In retirement, he became a real estate broker.
He attended college at Siena, Union, Russell Sage, Hartwick and the State University College at Oswego in his lifelong pursuit of knowledge.
He was a 32nd-degree Mason Shriner and an avid golfer.
Mr. Panko is survived by his wife of 32 years, Inge; stepsons, Peter Schnitzer of Colonie, Carl Schnitzer of Rotterdam Junction and Klaus Schnitzer of Montclair, N.J.; sisters, Olga Squaires and Tina Tisenchek, both of Oneonta; seven grandchildren; five nieces and nephews; and 11 grandnieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother, Alex, of Cape Cod, Mass.
Those wishing to do so may make donations to the Shrine Burn Center, in care of Shrine Headquarters, 2000 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, Fla. 33607.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
Anna B. Nagel
HUDSON — Anna B. Nagel of Oneonta, died, Nov. 6, 2000, at Community Hospice at Columbia Memorial Hospital, Hudson.
She was born in Sussen, Germany, on Feb. 24, 1907, and educated there.
Mrs. Nagel was a homemaker.
Anna was a very loving mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed.
She is survived by a daughter, Rosemarie Elliott of Ghent; a son, Walter O. Nagel of Oneonta; and two grandchildren, Leah and Krista.
Her husband, Werner Nagel, and seven sisters and brothers died previously.
Services and burial were private.
Memorials may be made in Mrs. Nagel's memory to Alzheimer's Association or Catskill Area Hospice in Oneonta.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Leila Dziadik
RICHFIELD SPRINGS — Leila Ruth (Land) Dziadik, 71, of Brouner Manor, Richfield Springs, passed away Sunday, Nov. 26, 2000, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital, Utica.
She was born Feb. 27, 1929, in the town of Warren, the daughter of Spencer and Ada (House) Land.
On April 18, 1946, she married Joseph Dziadik in the First Congregational Church, Springfield, Mass. He predeceased her on Dec. 19, 1989.
Mrs. Dziadik attended Mokawk, Herkimer and Leonardsville schools and worked in several shops in the area.
She was a member of the Old Presbyterian Church, Richfield Springs, where she was a Sunday school teacher and a chairman of the Deaconess.
Survivors include three sons, Joseph and his wife, Gael Dziadik, of Phoenix, Thomas and his wife, Peggy Dziadik, of Richfield Springs and Terry and his wife, Amy Dziadik, of Beaver Falls, Pa.; two daughters, Christina and her husband, Richard Bond, of Richfield Springs and JoAnne and her husband, Michael Leonis, of Herkimer; 11 grandchildren; three great-granddaughters; a great-grandson; a brother, Edward C. Land of Belchertown, Mass.; a sister-in-law, Anne Smagalski and her family of Richfield Springs; a brother-in-law, Ted Dziadik and his family of Jordanville; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her parents; sister, Helen; brothers, Cecil and William Land; a brother-in-law, John Dziadik; a granddaughter; and a niece and nephew.
A memorial service will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 30, 2000, at the Church of Christ Uniting, Richfield Springs, with the Rev. William Harkins officiating. Burial will take place in the spring in Jordanville Cemetery, Jordanville.
At her request, there will be no calling hours.

Florence D. Youngs
NORWICH — Florence Dain Youngs, 89, a lifelong resident of the Norwich and Amblerville areas, passed away early Monday morning, Nov. 27, 2000, in the Valley View Manor Nursing Home.
Born in Norwich, Florence grew up in this area and attended Norwich High School. She earned an licensed practical nursing degree, then worked as a nurse in the local schools and was also employed for 15 years as an LPN by Chenango Memorial Hospital.
Florence was known to be a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She enjoyed her family and the things they did. She was especially fond of her garden and flowers and was an excellent cook. Florence also enjoyed fishing and camping over the years.
After her retirement, Florence and her husband, Ed, liked to spend their winters in Florida.
Born April 8, 1911, Florence was the daughter of Lewis and Angie (Figary) Follett.
On March 30, 1930, she married Charles E. Dain, who passed away June 17, 1952. On Oct. 20, 1961, she married Edward Youngs, who passed away in 1993.
Florence is survived by her children and their spouses, Betty and Arthur Robbins of West Oneonta, Wanda Kollgaard of Laurens and Lewis and Sandra Dain of Oxford; and by five sisters, Ola Scripture, Reba Cummings, Nora Edwards and her husband, Clifford, and Alva Smith, all of Norwich, and Norma and Jack L'Hommedieu of Altamont. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; her sisters-in-law, Dorothy Follett and Belle Willis; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her husbands, Charles Dain and Edward Youngs, Florence was predeceased by her daughter, Linda, in 1943, and by her brother, Roy Follett.
Funeral services for Florence will be held on Friday at 1 p.m. from the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home, with the Rev. Philip Thorick, pastor of the United Methodist Church of Oxford, officiating.
Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery of White Store. Friends may call at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home on Friday from noon until the time of the service.

Mary A. Amatuccio
ONEONTA — Mary A. Amatuccio, 94, of Oneonta, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2000, at the A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital Nursing Home.
She was born July 23, 1906, in New York City, the daughter of Joseph and Nora (DiMasi) Civita.
She married Frank Amatuccio Sr. on Feb. 4, 1929, at St. Mary's Church in Oneonta. He predeceased her on Nov. 26, 1989.
She was a member of St. Mary's Church.
Mary was a homemaker and a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She especially enjoyed baking and crocheting.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Frank and Ann Amatuccio of Otego, Joseph and Dorothy Amatuccio Sr. of Otego and Norine and Ernest Feola of Oneonta; 19 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by a sister, Frances Russell of Oneonta; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Vito R. and Kenneth C. Civita.
A Mass of Christian burial will be offered on Thursday, Nov. 30, 2000, at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, Oneonta, with the Rev. Paul Roman, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Emmons.
Friends may call Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, Oneonta, at which time the family will be in attendance.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Mary's School Building Fund.

Lloyd C. Barnes
DELAND, Fla. — Lloyd C. Barnes, 71, of DeLand, Fla., died Nov. 13, 2000, in the James A. Haley Veterans Hospital in Tampa, Fla.
He was born Nov. 26, 1928. Lloyd was a retired Florida teacher and bought and sold real estate in Florida.
He served in the Army during the Korean War.
Surviving family includes two brothers, William and his wife, Shirley Barnes, of Treadwell, N.Y., and Burton Barnes of Swart Hollow Road, North Franklin, N.Y.; two sisters, Eva Monroe and Mildred and Robert S. Smith, all of Oneonta, N.Y.; and many nieces and nephews.
Lloyd will be buried in the Franklin, N.Y., Cemetery.
The Lankford Funeral Home in DeLand, Fla., was in charge of arrangements.
James Cadwell Sr.
BUENA, N.J. — James Roland Cadwell Sr., 61, of Buena, N.J., died Monday, Nov. 27, 2000, at Millville Hospital, Millville, N.J.
He was born Oct. 4, 1939, in New Berlin, N.Y., the son of Howard and Sally (Price) Cadwell.
James married Rosalie Dye, who survives.
Funeral arrangements are pending at the Houk-Johnston-Terry Funeral Home, Edmeston, N.Y.
Frank LoCastro
STAMFORD — Frank LoCastro, 94, of 7 N. Delaware St., Stamford, died Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2000, at Robinson Terrace, Stamford.
He was born Aug. 1, 1906, in New York City, the son of Joseph and Maria (Cangialosi) LoCastro.
Frank was married to Frances Vaccaro on June 23, 1951, in Brooklyn.
Frank moved to Stamford in May 1960. He owned and operated the Stamford Health Bar until 1972 and the Stamford Family Shoe Store from 1973 until 1978. Until his retirement in 1988, he was employed at Audiosears Corp., Stamford.
Frank was a member of the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church and a past member of both the Stamford Chamber of Commerce and the Stamford Kiwanis Club.
He is survived by his wife, Francis LoCastro of Stamford; a daughter and son-in-law, Joanne and Ron Bump of Stamford; sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph and Arlene LoCastro of Garden City, Anthony and Josephine LoCastro of Manhasset and John LoCastro of Stamford; grandchildren and spouses, Maria and Dayton Dongal, Robert and Kathy LoCastro, Vincent and Insinga LoCastro, Anthony and Michelle LoCastro, Lisa and Robert Bickert, Jennine LoCastro, Stephanie and Randy Hulbert and Stacie Bump and her fiancee, Jeffrey Halsdorfer; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Frank was predeceased by five siblings and a daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Tony Insinga.
A funeral Mass will be offered at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 1, 2000, at the Sacred Heart Church, Stamford, with the Rev. Joseph Cebula, pastor, presiding. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Stamford.
Friends may call at their convenience at the Hall Funeral Home Thursday afternoon and evening. The family will be in attendance on Thursday between 7 and 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Expressions of sympathy may be made in Frank's memory to the Catskill Area Hospice, 542 Main St., Oneonta, N.Y. 13820.

James Cadwell Sr.
BUENA, N.J. — James Roland Cadwell Sr., 61, of Buena, N.J., died Monday, Nov. 27, 2000, at Millville Hospital, Millville, N.J.
He was born Oct. 4, 1939, in New Berlin, N.Y., the son of Howard and Sally (Price) Cadwell.
James married Rosalie Dye on Jan. 24, 1959, at home in North Edmeston.
James was a truck driver for more than 35 years.
He had been interested in horses, the Unadilla Valley Railroad Association and the great outdoors.
James is survived by his wife, Rosalie; his children and their spouses, James Roland Cadwell Jr. of Buena, N.J., Laura and Ron Nalker of Winterhaven, Fla., Theresa and James Walsh of Trenton, N.J., Joanne and Brian Imperatore of Mays Landing, N.J., Melinda and Joseph Picchi of Egg Harbor Township, N.J.; his mother, Sally P. Cadwell; his two sisters, Betty Klingler of Edmeston and Sally and her husband, Charles Welch, of Vernon Center; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
James was predeceased by his father, Howard Cadwell, in May 1986.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Dec. 1, 2000, at 2 p.m. at the Second Baptist Church in Edmeston, with the Rev. Gary Folz, the Rev. John Buskey and the Rev. Lauren Maxson officiating. Calling hours are from noon to 2 p.m. before the service on Friday.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in James' memory to the American Cancer Society.
