Katherine Hadden
UNADILLA — Katherine "Nellie" Hadden, 83, of state Highway 7, Unadilla, passed away peacefully Thursday, Oct. 26, 2000, with her family by her side in the Willow Point Nursing Home, Vestal.
Nellie was born July 30, 1917, in Bloomville, the daughter of the late Frank and Margaret Hoag Martin.
She married Gaylord H. Hadden on March 6, 1935, in Hobart. He predeceased her Nov. 29, 1976.
She was a member of I.A.M. & A.W. Local 1529, Sidney, and the Women of the Moose #502, Sidney.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Arlene and Matt Matthews of Auburndale, Fla.; two sisters and brother-in-law, Frances and Richard Kenyon of Bloomville and Marion Morse of Syracuse; three grandsons and wives, Tim and Betsy Woodard of Unadilla, Todd and Liz Woodard of Franklin and Michael and Heather O'Brien of Davenport, Fla.; four granddaughters and families, Kimberly and Evan Dameshek of California, Kellie O'Brien of Florida, Dale Katherine Randall of Minnesota and Lorrie Ann of Illinois; 14 great-grandchildren, Robert, Matthew, Dustin, Adam and Marissa Woodward, Christian and Autumn O'Brien, Jake and Sam Dameshek, LeAnn and Brandon Meyehoff and John, Lyle and Blake Randall; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Her two sons E. Dale and Larry Hadden; four sisters, Hetty Turk, Anna Hall, Betty Dales and Marge Kearns; and eight brothers, John, Lloyd, Wendell, Guy, Charles, Frank, Tom and Robert Martin, predeceased her.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, from the United Methodist Church, Bloomville, with the Rev. Steven Y. Kim, pastor, and her nephew Richard Kenyon officiating. Burial will be held in the Prospect Hill Cemetery, Sidney. Friends are invited to call Friday at the C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney, with her family in attendance from 6 to 8 p.m.
Memorial gifts in her name are directed to the Unadilla Emergency Squad or to the Bloomville United Methodist Church.
Donald Griffith Sr.
OTEGO — Donald C. Griffith Sr., 65, of Otego, died Saturday, Oct. 28, 2000, at the A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital Emergency Room.
He was born June 6, 1935, in Hartwick, the son of Clifford S. and Bertha (Olds) Griffith.
Don was married March 19, 1960, to the former Edith Neer. She survives him.
Don was a truck driver and mechanic for the Otego Highway Department before his retirement in 1997. Before joining the Otego Highway Department, he was a farmer and had worked for Fred Enck of Otego for 13 years.
Don had lived in Otego most of his life and had also lived in Hartwick and Cooperstown at one time.
He had been a member of the American Legion in Oneonta and Otego, Otego Rod and Gun Club and a past member of the Otego Fire Department.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and for the past three years enjoyed making maple syrup.
Don is survived by his wife, Edith Neer Griffith of Otego; one son and daughter-in-law, Donald Jr. and Amy Griffith of Otego; two daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Joe Hurlburt of Otego and Frances and Jeffrey Zerbato of Colorado; one brother, Ronald James Griffith of Lacey, Wash.; and two sisters-in-law, Beatrice and Paulina Griffith, both of Hartwick; and seven grandchildren, Joseph, Nicole and Bradley Hurlburt, Caitlyn and Lindsay Griffith and Zachary and Jessica Zerbato. He is also survived by his good friend, Carl Peterson of Wells Bridge; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be at the convenience of the family.
There will be no calling hours at the funeral home.
Mr. Griffith will be cremated at the Hillington Crematory, Morris.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Otego Emergency Squad, River Street, Otego, N.Y. 13825 in memory of Donald C. Griffith Sr.

Robert J. Collins
ONEONTA — Robert J. (Rip) Collins, 79, of Wilber Park Apartments, Oneonta, died unexpectedly on Sunday, Oct. 29, 2000, at his residence.
He was born May 16, 1921, in Oneonta, the son of Jesse and Etta (Donovan) Collins.
He married Janet F. Fucci in July 1946, in Hancock. Mrs. Collins died Nov. 16, 1999.
Mr. Collins was a veteran of the United States Army having served in the Pacific Theater of Operations during World War II, until 1945.
He was a 1940 graduate of Oneonta High School and was employed at the State University College at Oneonta as supervising custodian from 1949 until his retirement in 1983.
Mr. Collins was an avid sportsman, having been involved with softball, bowling, hunting, fishing and his favorite pastime, golf.
He was a lifelong area resident and was a member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, the Oneonta Country Club, Oneonta Elks BPOE 1312, Oneonta American Legion Post 259 and the NYSCSEA.
Mr. Collins is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Martin (Maureen) Haviland of Oneonta; a son, Terry, and his wife, Sharon, of Ithaca; eight grandchildren, Kelly and Rachel Haviland of Oneonta, Kimberly and Jennifer Collins of Oneonta and Megan, Erin, Wendy and Stacia Collins of Ithaca; three great-grandchildren, Andrew, Shelly and Tyler; and several cousins.
A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, 2000, at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Oneonta. Burial will be in Plains Cemetery, Oneonta.
Friends may call at the Lewis-Hurley Funeral Home, 51 Dietz St., Oneonta, after 3 p.m. Wednesday, the family will be in attendance from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.

Dwight L. Tapley
JEFFERSON — Dwight L. Tapley, 72, of Wharton Hollow Road, Jefferson, died Monday, Oct. 30, 2000, at Bassett Hospital of Schoharie County in Cobleskill.
He was born May 10, 1928, in Blaine, Maine, the son of Lloyd A. and Elva M. (Craig) Tapley.
He married Doris Livingston on July 26, 1953, in Middletown.
Dwight was a veteran of the Korean War from 1950-1952, serving overseas in Korea. For the past 14 years, Dwight lived in Jefferson. He formerly lived in Kingston and Colorado.
He was a parts manager for IBM for 30 years.
Dwight's hobby was clock repair.
He is survived by his wife, Doris Tapley of Jefferson; a daughter, Denise Tapley of Jefferson; a son and daughter-in-law, Dwight C. and Jean Tapley of Independence, Mo.; a granddaughter, Hilary Tapley in Independence, Mo.; four sisters, Christina Bunting of North Fort Myers, Fla., Connie Runge of Poughkeepsie, Kathy Barnes of Middletown and Patricia Gottlieb of Circleville; and several nieces and nephews.
Dwight was predeceased by two brothers, Alton and Lloyd Tapley.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Thursday, Nov. 2, 2000, at the Hall Funeral Home, 142 W. Main St., Stamford, with the Rev. Charles Gockel, pastor of the Jefferson United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Jefferson.
Friends may call between 10:30 a.m. and noon on Thursday at the funeral home at which time the family will be in attendance.
Expressions of sympathy may be made in Dwight's memory to the Jefferson Emergency Squad, Jefferson.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Hall Funeral Home, Stamford and Grand Gorge.
Etta L. O'Hara
FRANKLIN — Etta L. O'Hara, 89, of Franklin, and most recently of Cazenovia, died Sunday, Oct. 29, 2000, at the Crouse Community Center in Morrisville.
She was born Nov. 23, 1910, in Walton, the daughter of Frank and Freida (Werhan) Lambrecht.
She married Clyde O'Hara in 1932. He predeceased her in 1962.
A lifelong area resident, Mrs. O'Hara was a member of the Franklin Community Bible Church and the Order of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Lois and G. Robert McAllister of Cazenovia; three grandchildren, G. Robert McAllister III of Dickinson, Texas, Dana L. McAllister of Manlius and James O'Hara McAllister of Bayonne, N.J.; a nephew, Donald Potter of Franklin.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2000, at 2 p.m. in the Kenneth L. Bennett Funeral Home, Franklin, with the Rev. Walter Schlundt, pastor of the Franklin Community Bible Church, officiating.
There will be no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Franklin Emergency Squad, or the Franklin Community Bible Church.

Madison H. Mosher
NEW WOODSTOCK — Madison H. Mosher, 78, of New Woodstock, died Oct. 27, 2000, at the Community General Hospital, Syracuse.
He was born in Grand Gorge. His last place of residence was McKinley Street, New Woodstock.
He was a self-employed logger and owner of Mosher's Grill in New Woodstock.
He was a member of the DeRuyter Masonic Lodge 692, the Malcolm Taylor Post 1572 American Legion and the VFW Post 113.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
He was predeceased by his wife, Louise Mosher. She died June 19, 2000.
Madison is survived by his sons, Howard Mosher of Sheds and Robert Mosher of Delphi Falls; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 30, 2000, at 1 p.m. at the Smith Funeral Home, DeRuyter. Burial will be held at the New Woodstock Cemetery, New Woodstock.
Calling hours were from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 29, 2000, at the funeral home.
Contributions may be made to the New Woodstock Fire Department.
Ruby Andrews
TUCUMCARI, N.M. — Ruby Andrews, age 60, was born in the town of Milford, N.Y., the daughter of Floyd and Erma Gage, and died Oct. 28, 2000, after an extended illness.
Ruby was known for beautiful flower gardens, hand crafts and many artistic touches to her homes throughout their military travels and stations, and has left many memories for the family and friends.
Ruby was preceded in death by one son and other relatives.
She was the loving wife of Victor "Andy" Andrews for 44 years, and resided in Tucumcari, N.M., and is also survived by her daughter, Carrie Andrews of Whitehall, Mont.; son, Jeff Andrews of Lubbock, Texas; four brothers and one sister of Cooperstown, N.Y.; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
