Patsy T. Eberhardt
LANCASTER — Patsy T. Eberhardt, 61, a retired teacher at Bryant & Stratton Institute, died Thursday, Sept. 7, 2000, in her Lancaster home after a lengthy illness.
Born Patsy Tidgwell in Oneonta, she earned a bachelor's degree in business from Albany State College and a master's degree from Canisius College.
She worked as a teacher at the Bryant & Stratton Buffalo Campus from 1961 until she retired in 1992.
She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and sang with the Sweet Adelines. She was past president and recording secretary for Kenmore Chapter.
She is survived by her husband, Donald G., whom she married in 1963.
Services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday in Zurbrick-Amigone Funeral Home, 5615 Broadway, Lancaster. Burial will be in Lancaster Rural Cemetery.
Wilfred L. Lyon
MIDDLEFIELD — The Rev. Wilfred L. Lyon, (Pastor Bill), 86, of Middlefield, died Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2000, at his residence.
He was born Feb. 9, 1914, in Bainbridge, the son of Alton and Mina (Chauncey) Lyon.
He was married to Martha A. (Yukl) Lyon on Feb. 24, 1946. She died in 1978.
He most recently resided in Middlefield, and before that had resided and served as pastor at the United Methodist Church of Morris from 1952 to 1978, before than in Sidney Center from 1947 to 1952, and before that in Hartwick.
He was a member of the Morris Rotary Club and was a Paul Harris Fellow of the Rotary Club.
In 1947, he helped co-founded and lead the Christian Friendship Caravan Movement, providing an invasion of friendship to all of Europe for youth and adults.
From 1978 to present he served as a much-loved volunteer at The Meadows, Chase Memorial Nursing Home, Oneonta Nursing Home and the Robynwood Adult Home. Through all of his adult life he was a well-known public speaker for church groups, Rotary Clubs, youth groups, banquets, graduation ceremonies and Grange.
He served his fellow man during World War II. During 1943 to 1944 he was a relief worker with Dust Bowl Refugees in California and 1945 a relief worker with United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation Administration in the Sinai Desert helping Yugoslav Refugees and in 1946 as a relief worker in UNRRA in Naples, Italy, helping families displaced to caves by war.
Pastor Bill is survived by a son and his wife, Thomas A. and Jean Lyon of Cooperstown; a daughter and her husband, Marcia and Arthur Waterman of Metairie, La.; grandchildren, Thomas W. and his wife, Janine Lyon, of Roseboom, Sarah Lyon and Will Brigham of Angel Fire, N.M., and Sara Waterman and Anna Waterman of Metairie, La.; and three great-grandchildren, Ketura and Elijah Lyon and Slade Brigham.
He was predeceased by his only sibling, Thelma Palmer; and a granddaughter, Kelly Ruth Lyon.
Memorial services will be held Sunday, Sept. 24, 2000, at 2 p.m. in the United Methodist Church in Morris.
There will be no calling hours and interment will be private.
There will be a fellowship time immediately following the memorial service.
The family requests no flowers, but those who wish may make a contribution in Pastor Bill's memory to the Catskill Area Hospice and Palliative Care Inc., 542 Main St., Oneonta, N.Y. 13820 or the Middlefield First Responders, 225 Rezen Rd., Middlefield, N.Y. 13450.

Howard Williams
NEW LISBON — Howard G. Williams, 87, of New Lisbon, died Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2000, at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital, Oneonta.
He was born July 11, 1913, in Kent, the son of John H. and Bonnie Belle (Whitlock) Williams.
He was married to Mabel Booth in Carmel some 68 years ago.
He had been a resident of New Lisbon for the past 25 years and had formerly lived in Stormville and Peeksville.
Before his retirement he had been the park superintendent at the FDR State Park in Peeksville.
He served his country during World War II in the United States Army serving in France and earning the European Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and the WWII Victory Medal.
He was a member of the V.F.W. of Oneonta.
Howard is survived by his wife, Mabel K. Williams; a son, John H. Williams of Cold Spring; a sister, Hazel Williams Lopez of Spring Hill, Fla.; three brothers, Joseph Williams of New Milford, Conn., James Williams of Bedford and Neal Williams of New Lisbon; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Monday, Sept. 25, 2000, at 2 p.m. at the Johnston Funeral Home in Morris, with the Rev. J. Mark Norlund, pastor of the Morris Baptist Church, officiating.
There will be no calling hours and the family requests no flowers due to health reasons.
Burial will be in the Hillington Cemetery in Morris.

Ethel W. Barker
SYRACUSE — Ethel W. Barker, 88, of Windham Drive, Syracuse, died Sept. 20, 2000, at St. Luke's Hospital, Utica.
She was born in Davenport Center. She graduated from Oneonta High School in 1930.
She was a member of St. Stephen Lutheran Church, Syracuse, and a member of its senior fellowship.
She was predeceased by her husband, Harold Barker in 1984.
She is survived by her daughter, June Davidson of Syracuse; two sons, Richard Barker of Buchanan, Ga., and Martin Barker of Forest Park, Ga.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 9 a.m. Monday at St. Stephen Lutheran Church, 873 Dewitt St., Syracuse. Burial will be 3 p.m. Monday at Davenport Cemetery, Davenport.
Calling hours are 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Carter Funeral Home, 1604 Grant Blvd., Syracuse.

Anna M. Dent
DELHI — Anna M. Dent, 81, of Delhi, died Thursday, Sept. 21, 2000, at Delaware County Countryside Care in Delhi.
She was born July 12, 1919, in Arena, the daughter of Melchior and Margaret (Banks) Hitt.
She was a lifelong area resident.
Survived by two sisters, Lottie Chapin of Oneonta and Vivian Colteryahn of Wooster, Ohio; two stepbrothers, Lester Stewart and Raymond Stewart of Bovina; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will take place on Saturday, Sept. 23, 2000, at 2 p.m. at the MacArthur Funeral Home, Delhi, with the Rev. Edward McNulty officiating. Calling hours will precede the service from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Andes Cemetery, Andes.
Arrangements are with the MacArthur Funeral Home, Delhi.
Irene S. Gerowe
ONEONTA — Irene S. Gerowe, 79, of Oneonta, died Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2000, at Fox Nursing Home after a lengthy illness.
She was born March 10, 1921, in Davenport Center, the daughter of Frederick and Liddy (Banner) Sloan.
She married Chantry Gerowe on Sept. 7, 1939, in Oneonta.
Mrs. Gerowe was a housewife and a former employee of Bresee's Oneonta Department Store and the Oneonta Nursing Home.
She was a lifelong area resident.
Mrs. Gerowe is survived by her husband at home; two sons and their wives, David and Marilyn Gerowe and Frederick and Jodie Gerowe, all of Oneonta; one daughter, Mrs. David (JoEtta) Cannistra of Chenango Forks; seven grandchildren; a brother, Ernest Sloan of Gilbertsville; and several nephews, nieces and cousins.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 22, 2000, at the Lewis-Hurley Funeral Home, 51 Dietz St., Oneonta, with the Rev. Judy Thistle, Fox Hospital chaplain, officiating. Burial will be in the Plains Cemetery, Oneonta.
The family will be receiving friends two hours before the funeral time at the funeral home.

Gerald L. Foutch
HUDSON — Gerald L. Foutch, 72, of Bells Pond, formerly a longtime resident of Chatham, died Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2000, at Columbia Memorial Hospital.
Born on June 26, 1928, in Oneonta, he was the son of the late Oscar and Neva (Pickard) Foutch.
Mr. Foutch served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
He was a life member of the Ghent Post 5933 Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He worked as a truck driver for Agway in Kinderhook, Chatham and Selkirk, retiring after 30 years of service.
Surviving are four sons, Terry of Chatham, Gary of Wells, Randy of Chatham and Thomas of Claverack; four brothers, Andrew Colvin of Bloomville, William Higgins of Oneonta and Harold Foutch and Oscar Foutch Jr., both of North Carolina; and his sister, Joan Marie Henry of Candor. Also surviving are three aunts, Marcia Pearsall of Schenevus, Cora Hilsinger of Worcester and Maud Foutch of Fly Creek; and several grandchildren.
His brother, Robert Foutch, formerly of Oneonta, died previously.
Private funeral arrangements are with Bates & Anderson Funeral Home, 110 Green St., Hudson.
Burial will be in Oneonta Plains Cemetery.
Sally Erway
JEFFERSON — Sally Erway died Thursday, Sept. 21, 2000, at home after a lengthy illness, with her family in attendance.
She was born June 19, 1948, in Cobleskill and was a lifelong resident of Jefferson.
Sally was the beloved wife of Creditt Jr. and the devoted mother of Tammy Pochily; mother-in-law of Peter Pochily; and grandmother of Jessica Pochily, all of Jefferson. She was a loving sister of Gary Bellinger of Jefferson and devoted daughter of Mary Bellinger and the late Warren of Jefferson.
She and her husband operated a dairy farm in Jefferson and are co-owners of E&P Corner Stop in Jefferson. She could always be found with a smile for all of her customers at the E&P Stop.
She had a great love for animals and gardening.
Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today at the William A. Tari Funeral Home, 40 Main St. (corner of Liberty), Stamford.
Services will be held Saturday, 11 a.m. at the funeral home with interment to follow immediately.

Sally Erway
JEFFERSON — Sally Erway died Thursday, Sept. 21, 2000, at home after a lengthy illness, with her family in attendance.

Joseph 'Joe' Grill
GOODYEAR LAKE — Mr. Joseph "Joe" Grill, 92, of Goodyear Lake, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2000, at his beloved lakefront home.
He was born in Nuremberg, Germany, on Feb. 11, 1908, to Johann and Marie Grill.
He emigrated to the United States in 1930.
A structural engineer by training in Germany, he survived the Great Depression by working numerous jobs in New York City.
In 1934, he married Dorothea Best, who survives him. They had lived at their lake home since 1947.
In 1950, he found employment at the Scintilla Plant, and he retired from the Electrical Components Division of the Bendix Corp., Sidney, in 1973, as an "A" tool and die maker. An artisan in working with metal, he fabricated many artifacts for his family, including small .22-caliber handguns.
He had a passion for the game of chess, and he was a charter member, president and club champion of the Oneonta Chess Club in the 1970s. He was also an avid bowler and golfer and enjoyed flowers and his vegetable garden.
Years ago, he was affiliated with the Boy Scouts of America as a Cubmaster.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Walter J. Grill of DeLancey and Joseph E. Grill of Keystone Heights, Fla.; his grandchildren, John Grill, Christopher Grill, Mary Cotrell, Pamela Metlicke, Brenda Waters, Jenny Grill and Kristina Grill; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Else Fiedler of Germany; and a niece, Ulla Schneider of Wendelstein, Germany.
He was a devoted husband and father and a good friend to many. He will be sorely missed by all.
There will be no calling hours.
Interment will be in Milford Center Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Catskill Area Hospice, Bassett Renal Dialysis Unit, or the Milford Emergency Squad in memory of Joseph "Joe" Grill.
