Ressemann Gibson
WALTON — Ressemann Thurman "Big Hoot" Gibson, 91, formerly of 18 Platt St., Walton, died Wednesday morning, Feb. 2, 2000, at his residence in Masonville, where he was residing after an extended illness.
He was born on May 26, 1908, in the town of Hamden to Walter Merritt and Bertha Elderkin Gibson.
He was a graduate of Walton High School, and Coyne Electrical School, Chicago, was a veteran of military service during World War II, and was employed for a short time by Charles Evans in Williamsburg, Va. He had been a self-employed carpenter in Walton most of his life, maintaining high standards of workmanship and creative talent.
He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Harley (Valesca) Wilson of Ft. Wayne, Ind., Mrs. D. Jesse (Charleen) McLachlan of King Ferry, and Mrs. Donald (Yvette) Cranston of Syracuse; an ex-wife, Mary Day Stoecker in Washington state; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by three wives, Olive Keyes, Dorothy Beers and Gracia Havens; as well as an infant daughter, Arlene Fay; a brother, Walter; and grandson, Victor McLachlan.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Feb. 4, 2000, at 1 p.m. at Lyon Bros.-Way, Inc. Funeral Home, corner of North and Delaware streets, Walton.
Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Delhi, in the spring.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, Feb. 4, 2000, from noon until 1 p.m. prior to the service.

Paul Rabeler
DELHI — Paul Rabeler, 82, of Delhi, died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2000, at St. Peter's Hospital, Albany.
He was born Oct. 16, 1917, in Leigh, Neb., the son of Henry and Eunice (Holm) Rabeler.
His wife, Tillie (Menke) Rabeler, of Delhi, whom he married on Aug. 27, 1950, in Delhi, survives Mr. Rabeler. Two sons, Paul H. Rabeler of Clifton Park and Steven W. Rabeler of Mt. Laurel, N.J.; two granddaughters; two brothers, Gordon Rabeler of New City and Roland Rabeler of Delhi; and two sisters, Hilda Griessel of Altamont and Dolores Palmer of Queensbury; as well as several nieces and nephews also survive.
He was a veteran of the United States Army serving as a staff tech sergeant during World War II, enjoying membership in the Delhi VFW Memorial Post #10550 and also a member of Donald W. Gleason Post #190 in Delhi.
Prior to moving to Delhi in 1983, Mr. Rabeler was a dairy farmer in Bovina.
He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Delhi.
Funeral services will take place on Saturday, Feb. 5, 2000, at 2 p.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Delhi, with the Rev. John Priest officiating.
There will be no calling hours.
Burial will take place in the spring at Woodland Cemetery, Delhi.
Contributions in his memory may be made to the Delhi Emergency Squad or the Immanuel Lutheran Church, Delhi.
Arrangements are with the MacArthur Funeral Home, 131 Main St., Delhi.
Jane Sitts
STAMFORD — Lillian Jane Sitts, 78, formerly of Hobart Road, Stamford, and currently of Adams Center, where she had been living with her son, Robert, died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2000, at Samaritan Hospital in Watertown.
She was born May 4, 1921, in East Smithfield, Pa., the daughter of Nicholas and Stella (Scouten) Stafford.
She married Charles H. "Sparrow" Sitts on Aug. 5, 1950, in Stamford. Sparrow died Jan. 12, 1989.
Jane graduated from Athens High School in Athens, Pa. She received her nursing degree from Robert Packard Hospital in Sayre, Pa. Jane was a registered nurse and from 1948 until 1968, she owned and operated the Stamford Nursing Home. She then worked at the Skilled Nursing Facility of the Stamford Community Hospital and then retired as head nursing supervisor at A.O Fox Memorial Hospital in Oneonta.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Patricia Sitts of Adams Center; a granddaughter, Katherine Sitts of Adams Center; a stepson, Gary Sitts of Portolo Valley, Calif.; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 5, 2000, at the Hall Funeral Home, 142 W. Main St., Stamford, with the Rev. Stephen Herring, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church in Stamford, officiating. Burial will be held in the Stamford Cemetery at a later date.
Friends may call at the funeral home at their convenience after 3 p.m. on Friday. The family will be in attendance between 7 and 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Expressions of sympathy may be made in Jane's memory to the R.A. Robinson Emergency Squad, Main Street, Stamford, N.Y. 12167.

Karl E. Tauzel
WORCESTER — Karl E. Tauzel, 90, of Worcester, died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2000, at the Oneonta Nursing Home.
He was born Dec. 28, 1909, in Windber, Pa., the son of John P. and Agnes (Zakraysek) Tauzel
He married Rowena Snyder.
Mr. Tauzel served in the United States Army from 1942-1946. He served in the Pacific Theater of Operations, where he attained the rank of major.
He was a lifelong Worcester resident.
Mr. Tauzel worked for the New York State Department of Public Works as a civil engineer.
He graduated from the Worcester Central School in 1928.
He was a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, the Worcester American Legion Post 1584 for more than 50 years, a 25-year member of ROA and a former member and grand knight of the Knights of Columbus. He was a member of two coin clubs in Cobleskill and Oneonta for several years.
Mr. Tauzel is survived by his wife, Rowena E. Tauzel of Worcester; a daughter, Karlene, and her husband, John Stokes, of Daly City, Calif.; several nieces and nephews, including John and James Tauzel of Worcester; and a sister-in-law, Esther Tauzel of Scotia.
He was predeceased by his parents; two brothers, John and William Tauzel; and three sisters, Mary Walsh, Agnes Tauzel and Martha Oliver.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 5, 2000, at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Main Street, Worcester, with the Rev. Edward Golding as the celebrant.
Burial will be at the St. Joseph's Cemetery in Worcester at a later date with military honors.
There will be no calling hours.

Patrick Liston
OTEGO — Mr. Patrick Anthony Joseph Liston, 61, of Otego, died Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2000, at The Hospital in Sidney.
He was born March 29, 1938, in the Bronx, the son of John and Helen (O'Malley) Liston.
Patrick was a retired mechanic. During his retirement he enjoyed breeding German shepherds. He was a very loving and dear man who you could always count on to be there. He will be greatly missed.
Patrick is survived by his daughter, Kelli Noren of St. Paul, Minn.; three grandchildren, Jordan, Thomas and Patrick, also of St. Paul, Minn.; two sisters and two brothers; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, Feb. 4, 2000, at 1 p.m. at the Bookhout Funeral Home, 30 River St., Otego, with the Rev. Paul A. Roman, pastor of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, officiating.
The family will be present at the funeral home from noon until service time on Friday.
It has been requested that in lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Heart Association, Heart Gifts Processing Center, P.O. Box 3049, Syracuse, N.Y. 13220-3049 in loving memory of Patrick Anthony Joseph Liston.

Rose L. Podesta
OTEGO — Rose L. Podesta, 78, of Otego, died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2000, at the A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital, Oneonta.
She was born March 29, 1921, in Union City, N.J., the daughter of Frank and Carolyn (Grandinetti) Tomaino.
Rose was a nurse at the Seaview Nursing Home in Staten Island, before moving to the Otsdawa, in Otego, where she and her close companion, Helmut "Joe" Schultz, owned and operated the Blueberry Farm Stand.
Rose is survived by her close companion, Helmut "Joe" Schulz of Otsdawa, Otego.
At Rose's request their will be no funeral services.
Rose will be cremated at the Hillington Crematory, Morris.

Constance Saccaro
STAMFORD — Constance Saccaro, 91, of Grand Gorge Road, Stamford, passed away on Monday morning, Jan. 31, 2000, at her residence.
She was born March 24, 1908, in Fastro, Italy, the daughter of Frank and Celestina Bassani.
She married Ernest Saccaro on Sept. 5, 1931, in Paterson, N.J. He predeceased her on July 14, 1983.
She had been a resident of the Stamford area since 1931.
Constance is survived by two sons, Ernest Jr. and Donald Saccaro, both of Stamford; two daughters, Sylvia Gadbois of Wethersfield, Conn., and Connie Mangini of West Hartford, Conn.; six grandchildren, Mark Gadbois of California, Debra Gadbois of Hawaii, Steve Gadbois of Illinois, Jeff Gadbois of Connecticut, Michael Mangini Jr. of Connecticut and Tracy Mangini of Massachusetts; and two great-grandchildren, Alexander of California and Christopher "Poochie" Mangini of Connecticut.
In respect of her request, funeral services were held on Thursday, Feb. 3, 2000, for family members only.

Sam T. Rosen
ONEONTA — Sam T. Rosen, 88, of Oneonta, passed away Feb. 3, 2000, at Fox Hospital in Oneonta after a brief illness.
He was born Oct. 21, 1911, in Syracuse, the son of William and Lena (Post) Rosen.
Mr. Rosen graduated from Cortland High School and Albany School of Pharmacy in Albany, Class of 1933.
He was first married to Goldie Markson, who died May 26, 1984, and was later married to Shirley Daniels, who died Dec. 11, 1998.
In 1935, Mr. Rosen and his family founded the Otsego Iron and Metal Corp. in Oneonta, which he owned and operated until his retirement. He was a United States Army veteran, having served during World War II.
Mr. Rosen was a resident of Oneonta since 1934. He was a member and past president of Temple Beth El of Oneonta, a life member of the Oneonta Elks BPOE 1312 and a former member of the Oneonta American Legion and the Oneonta Country Club, where he was an active golfer.
He was a loving father and family member.
He is survived by one son, Barry Rosen of San Francisco, Calif.; one daughter, Susan Rosen and her husband, Joel Markowitz; one brother, Maurice Rosen of Oneonta; one sister, Ida Greenberg of Albany; one nephew and three nieces, Gary Greenberg and Francine Colombus of Albany, Jane Rosen of New York City and Shelley Chamberlin of Lexington, Mass.; as well as four grand-nephews and two grand-nieces.
He was predeceased by a brother, Jack Rosen.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 6, 2000, at Temple Beth El, Oneonta, with Rabbi Donald Neil Roberts officiating.
Burial will follow at Temple Beth El Cemetery, Utica.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Temple Beth El, 83 Chestnut St., Oneonta.
There will be no calling hours.

Leland E. Nichols
FORT PIERCE, Fla. — Leland Ernest Nichols, 79, died Feb. 4, 2000, at Hospice of the Treasure Coast, Fort Pierce, Fla.
He was born Oct. 28, 1920, in Harpersfield. He was a resident of Fort Pierce, Fla., for 13 years, coming from Harpersfield.
Prior to retirement, he was the owner of a dairy farm for 40 years in North Harpersfield. He was also superintendent of highways in North Harpersfield for six years.
Leland was a member of Jefferson Methodist Church, Jefferson. He was also a member of Col. Harper Grange for more than 50 years in Harpersfield and a charter member of North Harpersfield Hunting Club. He served on the Board of New York State Supervisors Association and on the volunteer Fire Department in Jefferson.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marion Nichols of Fort Pierce, Fla.; two daughters, Nancy Sidoti of Waterburg, Conn. and Norma Moy of Saratoga Springs; and two sons, Stewart Nichols of Ridgeville, S.C., and Ronald Nichols of Boiling Springs, Pa. He had two sisters, Marian Churchill of Stamford and Dorothy Clapper of South Kortright; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, Feb. 10, 2000, at Golden Ponds Club House at 2 p.m., officiated by Chaplain Bob Barner.

Patty A. Coursen
PITTSFIELD — Patty A. Coursen, 49, of Pittsfield and formerly of Long Island, died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2000, at M.I. Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown.
She was born Sept. 5, 1950, in Saint James, Long Island, the daughter of John and Margaret (Mays) Guarini.
She married Wayne Coursen on July 24, 1971.
Patty was employed as a membership assistant for The Farmers' Museum, and was also a member of the New York State Historical Society in Cooperstown. She had previously been co-state director for the National Teacher's Association.
Patty had a strong love of family, friends and animals; and in return she was strongly loved by many.
Patty is survived by her husband, Wayne; her son and daughter-in-law, Christopher John and Amy Coursen of Salt Lake City, Utah; her granddaughter, Morgan Reid Coursen; her brother, Stephen Guarini; her husband's parents, John and Marian Coursen of Long Island; and her sister-in-law and her husband, Leslie and Donald Curran, also of Long Island; and was a favorite aunt to Ryan and Evan.
A memorial service will be held today at 1 p.m. at the Houk-Johnston-Terry Funeral Home, Edmeston, with the Rev. Lin Quinlin officiating.

Joan P. Field
MERRIMACK, N.H. — Joan P. Field, 56, of 52 Greatstone Drive, Merrimack, N.H., died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2000, at Southern N.H. Regional Medical Center after a long illness.
She was born in Cooperstown, on June 20, 1943; a daughter of the late Bennett and Hannah (Gaughn) Potter.
She was a resident of Merrimack, N.H., for the last 24 years.
Mrs. Field was a graduate of Oneonta State Teacher's College in New York, where she earned a bachelor's degree in education and taught elementary grades in the New York school system.
She has held various clerical and sales positions throughout the greater southern New Hampshire region over the past several years.
Mrs. Field enjoyed traveling and gardening, she and her husband have taken several trips along the eastern seaboard in recent years and they also planted and extensive rock garden beside their home.
She was predeceased by a brother and sister in-law, Bennett and Mary Potter.
Members of her family include her husband, Dennis C. Field, who she married on July 4, 1965, in Cooperstown; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Thomas and Athena Field of Lyndeborough, N.H., and John Field of Merrimack, N.H.; one daughter, Shannah Field of Los Angeles, Calif.; one sister, Alice Grant of Gainesville, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the George R. Rivet Funeral Home, 425 D.W. Highway, Merrimack, N.H. Burial will be in Hartwick Cemetery, Hartwick, in the spring.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m.
