Thomas Maguire

STAMFORD — Thomas Maguire, 83, of  Jefferson Road, Stamford, died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2000, at his residence.

He was born Feb. 3, 1916, in New York City, the son of Thomas and Bridget (Smith) Maguire.

He married Gloria Newton on Jan. 3, 1942, in Manhattan. Gloria died March 27, 1998.

Tom was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He had been a resident of Stamford for the past 13 years. Tom was retired from the Goldseal Ice Cream Co. in Staten Island. Tom enjoyed living in the country and his favorite saying was "I am the son of the best man that ever lived."

The family would like to thank the Schoharie County Health Department for all its help, especially Valaree Manchester and Denise McHague.

Tom is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Eileen and William Butler of Harpersfield and Kathleen and Michael McWherter of  Jefferson; a brother, Patrick Maguire of Longwood, Fla.; and many loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Philip, James and Daniel.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 10, 2000, at the Hall Funeral Home, 142 West Main St., Stamford, with Rev. John Burns, pastor of Holy Cross Church at Morris, officiating.

There will be no calling hours.

Expressions of sympathy may be made in Tom's memory to the  Jefferson Fire Department,  Jefferson, N.Y. 12093.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Hall Funeral Home, Stamford and Grand Gorge.

Lynn C. March Jr.

OCEANSIDE,  Calif. — Beloved husband and father Lynn C. March Jr., 75, of 2610 Guinevere Dr., Oceanside,  Calif., passed away Jan. 4, 2000, in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown, Pa., Lehigh County.

He was the husband of Dorothy (Martindale) March. They have been married for 55 years. He was born in Elk Creek, the son of the late Lynn C. March Sr.

He was a machinist with Scintilla Bendix Aviation in Sidney for more than 25 years, retiring in 1967.

He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in World War II. He was a member of the North Coast United Methodist Church in Oceanside,  Calif. He was a member of Odd Fellows and the VFW Post in Oceanside.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Lynn C. March III of Oneonta and Tim March of Oceanside,  Calif.; three daughters, Cynthia J. Crider of Ellisville, Mo., Sandy Viola of Oceanside,  Calif., and Kimberly Smith of Alburtis, Pa.; a sister, Ethel Buckley of Manhattan, Mont.; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral and memorial services will be held in Otego on Jan. 9, 2000, at 3 p.m. at the Methodist Church and on Jan. 15, 2000, at the North Coast United Methodist Church in Oceanside at 2 p.m.

Frank Mazzarella

TYRONE, Pa. — Frank Edward Mazzarella, 46, of 1261  Pennsylvania Ave., Tyrone, Pa. and formerly of Sidney, passed away unexpectedly Friday, Jan. 7, 2000, in the Tyrone Hospital, Tyrone, Pa.

He was born Dec. 28, 1953, in Sidney. Frank was the son of Frank J. and Rose Cutting Mazzarella.

He is survived by three daughters, Brooke Mazzarella of Sidney, April Mazzarella of Savannah, Ga., and Amber Mazzarella of Tyrone, Pa.; his parents, Frank J. and Rose Mazzarella of Sidney; three brothers, John, Joseph and Jeffrey Mazzarella, all of Sidney; one sister, Mary Gregory of Unadilla; a granddaughter, Alyssa Mance of Sidney; a godchild, Lydia Gregory of Unadilla and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral committal services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 10, 2000, from the C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney. The Rev. David Masland, pastor of the United Methodist Church, will officiate.

Burial will be in the spring in the Prospect Hill Cemetery, Sidney.

Friends are invited to call prior to the services on Monday at the funeral chapel.

Margaret Ouimette

ONEONTA — Margaret W. Ouimette, 90, of Oneonta, died Friday, Jan. 7, 2000, at home after a long illness.

She was born Dec. 10, 1909, in Thurman, Ohio, the daughter of the Rev. Benjamin John Williams and Mary (Jones) Williams.

She was married to James W. Ouimette of Oneonta in 1940. He predeceased her May 8, 1979.

Mrs. Ouimette graduated from Oneonta Normal School and in her early years taught in West Sand Lakes and Long Island. She returned to teaching in 1953, and retired from the Oneonta school system in 1973.

She was a long-standing member of the First United Methodist Church of Oneonta, member of the Business Women's Club, and a volunteer at Fox Memorial Hospital and Nursing Home. She was also a member of the Otsego County Retired Teachers and the New York State Retired Teacher Associations.

She was known in the area for her love of bridge.

Margaret is survived by her three children, Ruth Ouimette of Chapel Hill, N.C., Elizabeth Ouimette of Rochester and Philip and Margery Ouimette of Chenango Bridge; by six grandchildren, James, Giannine and Christina Liol, Mrs. Jerry (Tracey) DeCarolis and Douglas and Barrett Ouimette; and by several nieces and nephews, including a very special niece, Kathy Lembo.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2000, at the First United Methodist Church, Oneonta, with the Rev. Joseph Fiske officiating. Friends may call at the Lewis-Hurley Funeral Home, 51 Dietz St., Oneonta, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today.

In honor of Margaret Ouimette's dedication to teaching, love of students, her patience with and encouragement of all levels of students, and her ability to recognize potential in everyone, the family is establishing a Margaret W. Ouimette Achievement Award. The award will be presented to a graduating senior at Oneonta High School.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Dollars for Scholars Program, P.O. Box 1083, Oneonta, N.Y. 13820.

Funeral arrangements are by the Lewis-Hurley Funeral Home, Oneonta.

Robert G. Baillie

CHERRY VALLEY — Mr. Robert G. Baillie, 71, formerly of Farmingdale. passed away Saturday, Jan. 8, 2000, at Bassett Hospital, Cooperstown.

He was born April 11, 1928, in Queens, the son of Norbert and Rosemary (Woll) Baillie.

On June 4, 1949, he married Dorothy Frederick in Queens. She survives.

Mr. Baillie was in the United States Navy serving during World War II in the Mediterranean.

He moved to Cherry Valley after retiring from NYNEX Communications in Manhattan, where he was a systems analysis.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Pioneers, NY Telephone Retirees Group, 35-year Knights of Columbus of Farmingdale, Long Island, past grand knight Delany Council and was a clown for the Knights of Columbus, Long Island, for many years.

Besides his wife, Dorothy Baillie of Cherry Valley; he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Karen Baillie of Brentwood, Long Island; two daughters and a son-in-law, Judith and Sam Meo and Maureen Earley, all of Brentwood, Long Island; and nine grandchildren.

A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2000, at the Blessed Sacrament Roman Catholic Church, Springfield Center, with the Rev. Santino Titta officiating. Repass will follow the Mass at Kateri Hall, Cherry Valley (next to St. Thomas Church, CV). Cremation will take place at the Leatherstocking Crematory Inc., Cherry Valley.

Calling hours will be observed on Tuesday, Jan. 11, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Ottman Funeral Home with a Knights of Columbus and prayer service at 8 p.m.

Contributions in Mr. Baillie's memory may be made to the Cherry Valley Emergency Squad, Cherry Valley.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ottman Funeral Home, Cherry Valley.

Joseph Bobnick

WORCESTER — Joseph Bobnick, 89, of Worcester, died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2000, peacefully at his home.

He was born May 1, 1910, in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of John and Helen (Petrovich) Bobnick.

He married Mary Milavec on Aug. 19, 1933, at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Worcester.

Mr. Bobnick has been an area resident since 1928.

He owned and operated a dairy farm on West Hill Road in Worcester from 1933 to 1982.

Mr. Bobnick was a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Worcester, the Eastern Milk Producers, Otsego County Cooperative Extension, the Worcester Grange, a past member of the Worcester Rotary Club, serving as president for several years, a Worcester volunteer fireman, and was on the Worcester Central School Board of Education for 25 years, serving as the president for many years.

He will be well-remembered for his love of nature, family and friends.

Mr. Bobnick is survived by his wife, Mary, of Worcester; his children, Jim and his wife, RoseMarie Bobnick, of Dryden, Larry and his wife, Toni Bobnick, of Worcester, Joan Bobnick of Wilmington, Del., and Brenda and her husband, Jim Yergey, of Owego; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Victor Bobnick of Rotterdam; two half-sisters, Helen Mattice of East Worcester and Dorothy Podpadec of Mount Upton; and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held today at the E.J. Skinner Co. Funeral Chapel in Worcester from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., with the family in attendance from 7 to 9 p.m. There will be a Vigil service at 8:30 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 11, at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Main Street, Worcester, with the Rev. Edward Golding as celebrant. Burial will follow at the St. Joseph's Cemetery in Worcester.

Contributions may be made in loving memory of Mr. Bobnick to the Worcester Emergency Squad, P.O. Box 191, Worcester, N.Y. 12197.

Funeral arrangements are by E.J. Skinner Co., 115 Main St., Worcester.

Herman G. Curry

SCHUYLER LAKE — Herman G. Curry, 74, of county Highway 22, died on Friday, Jan. 7, 2000, in his home with his loving family at his side.

He was born on Dec. 26, 1925, in Cooperstown, son of the late George and Gladys Light Curry.

A lifelong resident of Schuyler Lake, he was a graduate of Richfield Springs High School.

An honorably discharged United States Air Force veteran, he served our country during World War II. He had served in Japan with the 14th Emergency Rescue Boat Squadron.

On Sept. 18, 1948, he married Shirley Brady in Waterville.

He first had worked for UNIVAC and for 20 years was an electronics technician with Mohawk Data Sciences, retiring in 1985.

He was a former member of the Schuyler Lake Volunteer Fire Department and the Richfield Springs VFW Post. For several years he served as president of the Schulyer Lake Cemetery Board.

Herman loved the outdoors and used much of his leisure time hunting and fishing.

Surviving besides his wife of 51 years, Shirley; are two sons and their wives, Gregory and Maryann Curry of Milford and William and Diane Curry of Mount Vision; a daughter, Diane and her husband, Mark Thompson, of Cold Brook; one sister, Ida Davis of Schuyler Lake; four grandchildren, Amy and Colleen Thompson and Justin and Melissa Curry; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral service will take place on Tuesday at 11 a.m. in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James St., Richfield Springs, with the Rev. John Young officiating.

Interment will be in Schuyler Lake Cemetery later this spring. The family will receive relatives and friends Tuesday morning one hour before the funeral service, 10 to 11 a.m.

Memorial donations may be made to the Schuyler Lake First Responders or the Catskill Area Hospice. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.

Marvin Greiner Sr.

ONEONTA — Marvin Greiner Sr., 72, of Oneonta, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 1, 2000, at the home of his daughter in Herkimer.

He was born Jan. 29, 1927, in Franklin, the son of Harry and Mary (Walley) Greiner.

He married Avelyne May Becraft on May 1, 1948. She predeceased him on Dec. 16, 1999.

As a young boy, Marvin lived in Franklin.

After his marriage to Avelyne, he moved to Oneonta, where he lived up until his illness.

Marvin worked for a period of time for Wilson Roofing Co., and Ann Hamilton and Son. Before his retirement he was self-employed as a carpenter.

He was a member of Oneonta Moose Lodge #465.

A loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Marvin will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Marvin is survived by one sister, Anna Ruling of Sidney; four daughters and sons-in-law, Joan and Jim Haggerty of Herkimer, Linda and Charles Smith of Cedarville, Jacqueline Rutherford of Ilion and Peggy and Sonny Sheffler of Factoryville, Pa.; three sons and daughters-in-law, George and Melodie Greiner of Herkimer, Ernest and Cherylyn Greiner of Mount Vision and Marvin Greiner Jr. of Oneonta; 14 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A service to celebrate the life of Marvin Greiner will be held on Saturday, Jan. 15, 2000, at 2 p.m. in the Mount Vision United Methodist Church, with Pastor Yoder officiating.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Herkimer County Hospice Care, Inc., 301 N.  Washington St., Herkimer, N.Y. 13350. Envelopes will be available at the church.

Arrangements are by the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, Oneonta.

Anthony Kalinofski

WESTFORD — Anthony F. Kalinofski, 80, died Saturday, Jan. 8, 2000, at Eden Park Nursing Home in Cobleskill, where he had been a resident.

He was born Feb. 22, 1919, in Lyndhurst, N.J., the son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Kalinofski.

Mr. Kalinofski was predeceased by his wives, Pearl Wider and Frances Viola.

He was a United States Navy veteran serving from 1942 to 1945, as a ship's cook 3rd class on the USS Cleveland.

Mr. Kalinofski was formerly from Freeport and retired to Westford.

He was a lifetime auto mechanic, and was a transmission specialist, retiring from H&D Transmissions in Queens.

Mr. Kalinofski was a member of the Uniondale American Legion Post 1487.

Mr. Kalinofski is survived by a son, Barry, and wife, Beverly Tobiason, of Freeport; grandsons, Barry Jr. and wife, Roseann Tobiason, of North Bellmore, and their children, Barry III and Kristin, and Bert and wife, Kerry Tobiason, of Freeport; a daughter, Cheryl  Johnson of Islip Terrace; grandchildren: Lisa and husband, Rob Rizzo, of Islip Terrace, and their daughter, Nicole; Michael Trillo of Bay Shore; and Michele Trillo and Adam Field of Bay Shore, and their son, Vincent; stepdaughter, JoAnn Viola of Westford; grandchildren: Fred and wife, Karen Wyckoff, of Westford, and their children, Nate and Kellye Jo; Scott and wife, Edna Wyckoff, of Laurens, and their children, Arron and Rebekah; Luke and wife, Malinda Wyckoff, of Laurelville, Ohio and their children, Austin, Addison and Alden; Jeremy and wife, Psalm Wyckoff, of Westford; and Sherry and husband, William Aufmuth, of Milford, and their children, Jacob and Emily.

A graveside military service will be held at the Westford Cemetery, at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Eden Park Nursing Home, Activities Fund, 25 Parkway Drive, Cobleskill, N.Y. 12043.

Funeral arrangements are by Heller Funeral Home, 10 Arch St., Schenevus.

George Lundin Jr.

OTEGO — Mr. George A. Lundin Jr., 70, of Otego, died Saturday morning, Jan. 8, 2000, at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital, Oneonta.

He was born Nov. 24, 1929, in Hudson, the son of George A. Lundin Sr. and Clara (Ashley) Lundin.

He was married to the former Carol J. Wenk on March 4, 1951. She survives him.

George was the owner of Special Interest Auto Sales in Otego and was retired as a sales representative for New York State Electric & Gas Corp. in Oneonta.

He was a member of the Otego Presbyterian Church, Otego, the Otego Fire Department since 1969, the Reminiscers Auto Club of Oneonta, NYSEG Quarter Century Club as well as a member of the Otego Town Board from 1976-1989, and the Unatego Board of Education from 1969-1974.

George was a veteran of the United States Air Force from 1950-1954, serving in the United States and Okinawa, Japan.

Mr. Lundin is survived by his wife, Carol J. Lundin of Otego; one son and daughter-in-law, George A. Lundin III and Suzanne Lundin of Otego; one daughter and son-in-law, Carol Sue and John Gavin of Sterling, Va.; one sister, Mrs. Richard (Martha) Leggett of West Ghent; and six grandchildren, Patrick Gavin, Joseph Gavin and Daniel Gavin, all of Sterling, Va., and Timothy Lundin, Eric Lundin and Jeffrey Lundin, all of Otego. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A service to celebrate the life of George A. Lundin Jr. will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2000, at the Otego Presbyterian Church, River Street, Otego. Friends are invited to call at the church from 10 a.m. to service time, when the family will be present at the church. The Rev. Fred Albrecht of Otego will officiate.

George will be cremated at the Hillington Crematory, Morris.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be given to the Otego Fire Department or to the Otego Emergency Squad in memory of George A. Lundin Jr.

Funeral arrangements are by the Bookhout Funeral Homes, Oneonta and Otego.
