Bessie K. Trelease
DELANCEY — Bessie K. Trelease, 94, died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2000, at Skywold Manor Adult Home, Meredith.
She was born Oct. 21, 1905, the daughter of Isaac and Rosa (York) Ford.
She was married to Francis Trelease, who predeceased her.
A former resident of DeLancey, Mrs. Trelease worked as a spot welder at Scintilla, Sidney.
Surviving her are a daughter-in-law, Marjorie Trelease of Delhi; a sister, Acynthia Hicks of Titusville, Fla.; two brothers, D. Stewart Ford of Titusville, Fla., and Richard Ford and his wife, Lois, of Otego; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will take place on Friday, Jan. 7, 2000, at 11 a.m. at the MacArthur Funeral Home, Delhi, with the Rev. Bert More officiating.
There will be no calling hours.
Burial will be in the spring at Woodland Cemetery, Delhi.
Contributions in her memory may be made to the Delhi Fire Department or Emergency Squad.
Arrangements are with the MacArthur Funeral Home, Delhi.
Oscar Jerminario
MARYLAND — Oscar K. Jerminario, of Maryland, N.Y., formerly of Sloatsburg, died on Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2000, at home. He was 76.
Born in Montville, on Oct. 19, 1923, to Joseph and Julia Stalter Jerminario, he was married to Louise Satterlee.
A retired general mechanic for the Harriman State Park, Oscar served during World War II and was a member of the Sloatsburg Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Louise, at home; two daughters, Jeri Anne Jerminario Hall of Richmondville and Mary Lou Cooper of Cortland; one grandson, Matthew Cooper; and one sister, Bertha Cannon of South River, N.J.
Friends are invited to call at the Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home, 41 Eagle Valley Rd., Sloatsburg, on Sunday, Jan. 9, 2000, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Monday, Jan. 10, at 11 a.m. Interment will be in the Sloatsburg Cemetery, Sloatsburg.

Kelly L. O'Neal
SCHENECTADY — Kelly L. O'Neal, 33, died Wednesday morning, Jan. 5, 2000, at her home in Schenectady.
Kelly was born May 6, 1966, in Schenectady, the daughter of Charles Palmer and the late Virginia Roe Palmer.
Kelly is survived by her father, Charles Palmer of Schenectady; a sister, Pam Robinson of Otego; two brothers, Hans Palmer of Miami Beach, Fla., and Paul Palmer of Scotia; her maternal grandmother, Gladys Roe of Oneonta; paternal grandmother, Agnes Palmer of Meredith; several aunts and uncles; a niece, Bobbi-Joe; and two nephews, Jonathan and Matthew.
Funeral services will be held 4 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 8, 2000, at the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oneonta, with the Rev. Mel Farmer officiating. Burial will take place in the spring at Oneonta Plains Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m., Friday evening.

Laura R. Smith
DELHI — Laura R. Smith, 75, formerly of Delhi, died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2000, at Community General Hospital, Harris.
She was born May 9, 1924, the daughter of Melvin Lester and Ella Jean (Lynch) Smith.
She never married and lived in Delhi, where she kept her home.
A sister-in-law, Louise Smith of Delhi, survives Miss Smith.
Graveside services will take place in the spring at Woodland Cemetery, Delhi, with Fr. Paul Hartt officiating.
Arrangements are with the MacArthur Funeral Home, Delhi.

Merle Nolf
JONESBORO, Ga. — Merle Nolf, 92, formerly of Franklin and most recently of Jonesboro, Ga., died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2000, at the home of her daughter.
She was born in Franklin on July 10, 1907, the daughter of Arthur E. and Louise (Dart) Austin.
She married Roland C. Nolf on June 25, 1938. He predeceased her in 1960.
Merle was a 1926 graduate of the Delaware Literary Institute in Franklin. In 1929, she graduated from the Oneonta Normal School, after which she taught in Franklin and Long Island.
She also worked as a seamstress in J.C. Penney's for many years, along with playing the organ at St. Paul's Episcopal, and the United Methodist Churches in Franklin.
Merle was a lifelong member of the Franklin United Methodist Church, and the Eastern Star. She was also a Gold Star Mother, and a past member of the Rebekah's and the Grange.
Merle is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy L. and Paul Clutter of Jonesboro, Ga., and Patty A. and Bob Lee of Riverside, Calif.; two stepdaughters and a stepson, Mary Kerr and Betty Aragon, both of Phoenix, Ariz., and Harry Nolf of Franklin; grandchildren, Michele Nolf, Paul A. Clutter, Jonathan V. Clutter, Jeffrey S. Clutter, Jason Larkin and Jennifer Smith; along with several stepgrandchildren, including area residents, Bill and Ken Nolf. She is also survived by several great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a stepson, Frank Nolf; and a son, James A. Nolf.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, Jan. 10, 2000, at 1 p.m. in the Franklin United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Lyle Linder, pastor, officiating.
Burial will be later in the Ouleout Valley Cemetery, Franklin.
Friends may call on Sunday, Jan. 9, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Kenneth L. Bennett Funeral Home in Franklin.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Franklin United Methodist Church.

Jeanne A. Cortese
DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. — Jeanne A. Cortese, 74, formerly of Oneonta, N.Y., died Friday, Dec. 31, 1999, at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Terry L. and Sharon A. Cortese, Deerfield Beach, Fla.
She was born Oct. 19, 1925, in Oneonta, N.Y., the daughter of Leon and Catherine (Bowmaker) VanWoert.
She graduated from Oneonta High School.
Jeanne married Donald L. Cortese on Nov. 22, 1945.
She was employed in the Oneonta offices of the D&H Railroad, as well as the Oneonta Building & Loan Association, and for 14 years prior to her retirement, as a legal secretary by the Law Office of Frank W. Getman.
She and her husband retired and moved to Florida in 1982. After moving to Florida she was employed part time by The Prudential Insurance Company legal division.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 54 years, Donald L. Cortese, who died on Dec. 10, 1999.
Jeanne is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Terry L. and Sharon A. Cortese of Deerfield Beach, Fla.; a grandson and his wife, Daniel L. and Laura Cortese of Tamarac, Fla.; a granddaughter, Shanna Lyn Cortese of Coral Springs, Fla.; a great-grandson, Daniel Scott Cortese II of Tamarac, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Katherine Carman of Oneonta, N.Y.; a brother-in-law, Joseph Cortese of Cooperstown, N.Y.; a half-brother-in-law, Raymond Nichols of Caldwell, Idaho; a sister-in-law, Virginia Cortese of Oneonta, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a sister, Beverly Nabinger.
Remembered as "Mimi" by her family and loved ones, Jeanne dearly loved the presence of her family, grandchildren and great-grandson, Daniel. She and her husband will be held in special memories by family and dear friends for their love of the game of golf.
Cremation took place in Florida. The family will hold a private memorial service on the grounds of the Oneonta Country Club in the summer of 2000.

James R. Sherman
RUSKIN, Fla. — James Russell Sherman of Ruskin, Fla., and formerly of Stamford, N.Y., died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2000.
He was born in Sioux Falls, S.D., on March 13, 1922, to Albert and Gladys Henderson Sherman.
He was married Oct. 11, 1947, to Dorothy Bishop.
He was a graduate of Stamford Central School, an Army veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion Post of Stamford, N.Y.
He was predeceased by his sister, Viola Pardy; and brother, Alton "Bud" Sherman.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; a son, Jerry of South Kortright, N.Y.; two daughters, Bonnie Weigle of Sun City Center, Fla. and Gail Decker of Watertown, Wis.; a brother, Carl Sherman of Barneveld, N.Y.; and four grandchildren, Eric and Auron Sherman, Stacia Weber and Stephanie Decker.

Bruce D. Boardman
HOBART — Bruce D. Boardman, 48, of Hobart died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2000, at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital, Oneonta.
He was born May 11, 1951, in New York City, the son of Barry and Dolores (Douglas) Boardman. He was single.
His mother in Hobart; a cousin, Katie of Cooperstown; and Uncle Jack of Chicago, Ill.; as well as several cousins survives him.
Bruce was a computer programmer for American Direct Mail in New York City prior to moving to Hobart in 1994. He readily became involved at South Kortright Central School mentoring students while instilling in them a curiosity and enthusiasm for the computer business. A friendly, familiar face in the building he served as a consultant and provided training to the district, aiding in the upgrading of their system.
At Mr. Boardman's request there will be no calling hours or funeral.

Theodore Vodapivc
WINTER HAVEN, Fla. — Mr. Theodore Vodapivc, 86, of Winter Haven, Fla., died Jan. 3, 2000, at the Palm Garden of Winter Haven.
He was born July 15, 1913, the son of Joseph Vodapivc and Francis German.
He married Catherine Baldwin.
He was a native of Camp Shumway, Colo. He moved to Winter Haven, Fla., in 1989, from New York.
He was a store manager for Agway Inc. (Farm and Feed Store).
He was a member of the Methodist St. John's United Methodist Church.
He was a World War II Navy veteran.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #592, Eastern Star #138, Past Patron Eastern Star, VFW #2752 Schenevus, N.Y.
Mr. Vodapivc is survived by his wife, Catherine Vodapivc; and his brother, Frank Vodapivc of Glenville, N.Y.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 7, 2000, at 4 p.m. at the St. John's Methodist Church, with the Rev. Mark Whittaker officiating. He will be cremated.
There are no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Lung Association.

Ivan H. Miller
MARGARETVILLE — Ivan H. Miller, 90, of Margaretville, died Jan. 6, 2000, at Westchester Medical Center, Westchester.
He was born March 20, 1909, in Shaver Hollow, town of Andes, the son of Frank A. Miller and Mary Davis.
He was first married to Agnes Eden in 1931 in Andes. She died in 1979. He was then married to Lois Williams Brooks in 1983 in Margaretville.
He was an educator teaching in the one-room Shaver Hollow School, then at Andes Central School, where he was also principal. He was a guidance counselor at Margaretville Central School from 1959 until 1971 and worked with the New York State Department of Education.
He was a 25-year member of the Margaretville Memorial Hospital Board. He was past president of the New York State Teachers Association; a member of the United Methodist Church, Margaretville; active on the Middletown Democratic Committee; served as Andes town supervisor; served as councilman on the Middletown Town Board; was a past member of the Mark Board of Arkville and received the Keene A. Roadman Citizenship award.
He received the Senior Citizen of the Year award from Delaware County in 1998.
After attending Shaver Hollow School, he went to Downsville High School, followed by attending Union College in Schenectady. He received his master's degree from Albany State College. He was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening.
He is survived by his wife, Lois Miller of Margaretville; one son, A. Stephen Miller of Manlius; one daughter, Yvonne Sheehan of Davenport; eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two sons, Daniel Miller and Buzzer Miller.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 9, 2000, at the United Methodist Church of Margaretville. The Rev. Dr. George Carpenter will officiate.
Burial will be in Andes Rural Cemetery at a later date.
Calling hours will be Saturday, Jan. 8, 2000, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Hynes Funeral Home, Margaretville.
