Ruth Ann Soules
SIDNEY — Ruth Ann Soules, 54, of Sidney, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, Oct. 19, 1999, at home.
She was born Feb. 15, 1945, in Livingston Manor to the late Elmer and Florence Fullmer McCaslin.
Ruth Ann married Clinton I. Soules on Feb. 7, 1970, in Livingston Manor.
She was employed by the Sidney School District as the head cook in the Pearl Street Elementary School cafeteria since 1983.
She was a member of the Presbyterian Church, Livingston Manor, and an avid bowler for 40 years.
Ruth Ann is survived by her husband, Clinton I. Soles of Sidney; two sons, Brian C. Soules of Sidney and Eugene E. Soules of Sidney; a sister-in-law, Lorraine Cole of Otego; a niece, Dorothy Robinson of Davenport; a nephew, Michael Cole of New York; and several cousins.
She was predeceased by a brother, Carl Fullmer.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Oct. 21, 1999, at C.H. Landers Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney, at 3 p.m. The Rev. Donald Masland, pastor of the United Methodist Church of Sidney, will officiate.
Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 20, 1999, at the funeral chapel.
Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Sidney.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Sidney Emergency Squad.
Arrangements are under the direction of C.H. Landers Inc., Sidney.
Iva C. Walker
EAST SPRINGFIELD — Mrs. Iva C. Walker, 73, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 19, 1999, at her residence.
She was born Oct. 30, 1925, in Cooperstown, the daughter of Irving and Anita (Gilcrist) Judson.
On May 10, 1947, she married Kenneth Walker in the United Methodist Church, Cherry Valley; he survives.
Mrs. Walker graduated from East Springfield School in 1944. She and Ken enjoyed country dancing around the area for 60 years. She was a homemaker and helped on the family dairy farm in Springfield.
Besides her husband, Kenneth Walker of East Springfield, she is survived by two sons, Ed Walker of East Springfield and Roger and his wife, Kim Walker, of Rochester; grandchildren, Dan and Brian Walker of Rochester, Edward Walker of Otego, and Tonya Walker of North Carolina; a great-granddaughter, Taliya Walker; two sisters, Gertrude Spraker and Virginia Armstrong of Springfield Center; an aunt and uncle, Clarence and Lucille Gilcrist of Cooperstown; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Oct. 22, 1999. at 11 a.m. at the Ottman Funeral Home, Cherry Valley, with Mr. Lyman Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Springfield Cemetery, Springfield Center.
Calling hours will take place from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 21, at the funeral home.
Contributions in Mrs. Walker's memory may be made to the Catskill Area Hospice, Oneonta.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ottman Funeral Home, Cherry Valley.
F. Raymond Cooper
JEFFERSON — F. Raymond Cooper, 83, of Middlebrook Road, Jefferson died Sunday, Oct. 17, 1999, at his residence.
He was born July 15, 1916, in Kentucky, the son of F. Raymond and Marie (Albert) Cooper.
He married Ann Brewster on June 30, 1956, in Allendale, N.J. Ann died Oct. 26, 1997.
Ray was employed by the U.S. government for many years. In May 1970, Ray moved to Jefferson from New Jersey. He was a member and past president of the former Stamford Golden Kiwanis Club. For several years, he was captain of the Jefferson Fire Police.
He was also a former captain and 22-year member of the Jefferson Fire Department. Ray attended the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Stamford.
Ray is survived by two nephews, Robert Allison of Clifton Park and Richard Allison of Monroe; a niece, Jacqueline Strunck of Landing, N.J.; and grandnieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday, Oct. 23, 1999, at the Hall Funeral Home, 142 W. Main St., Stamford, with the Rev. John Burns, pastor of the Holy Cross Church in Morris, officiating.
Friends may call on Saturday morning at the funeral home between 10 a.m. and noon, at which time the family will be in attendance.
Expressions of sympathy may be made in Raymond's memory to the Jefferson Fire Department, Jefferson, N.Y. 12093.

Mary Lysik
HOMESTEAD, Fla. — Mary Lysik, 88, died on Friday, Oct. 15, 1999, in the Homestead Manor.
She was born on July 16, 1911, in Simpson, Pa., a daughter of the late Michael and Barbara Gomel Katzer.
On Jan. 22, 1949, she married Walter Lysik in Stratford, Conn., a loving and devoted marriage of 48 years until his passing on July 30, 1997. Walter and Mary had lived in Trumble, Conn., retiring to Pembroke Pines, Fla., in 1982. For many years, they vacationed in the Richfield Springs, N.Y., area.
Surviving are one sister and her husband, Irene and Leonard Cooke of Plano, Texas; several nieces, nephews, grandnieces; and nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Oct. 22, 1999, at 11 a.m. in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 W. James St., Richfield Springs, N.Y., with the Rev. Santino Titta officiating. Interment will follow in Springfield Center Cemetery, N.Y.
Calling hours are Thursday, Oct. 21, 1999, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.

Harriet Dvoracek
MORRIS — Harriet R. Dvoracek, 70, of Morris died unexpectedly at her residence on Wednesday, Oct. 20, 1999.
She was born Feb. 2, 1929, in Rockville Center, the daughter of Harry Nacken and Augusta (Grace) Nacken.
She was married to Joseph Robert Dvoracek on June 25, 1962, in Baltimore, Md. He died on May 10, 1997.
For several years she was employed as the parts manager at Ferguson Auto Supply and then at Otsego Automotive, both of Oneonta. More recently, she had worked as a nurse's aid doing home care in the Morris and Oneonta area.
She was very active in the Lions Club of Oneonta and had also served as a volunteer at the A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital.
Harriet is survived by her children, John Dvoracek of Allentown, Pa., Jeanette Cotter and her husband, Luke, of New Berlin, Leonard Keushgarian of Mount Vision, Joseph Robert Dvoracek and his wife, Dory, of Gilbertsville; her grandchildren, Robert and Jennifer Dvoracek of Allentown, Pa., Ryan, Marissa and Nicole Cotter of New Berlin, James Dvoracek of New Berlin, Donna Zinn of Washington, D.C., Robert Hazlett of Treadwell, Penny Desalle of Virginia Beach, Va., Larry Keesler of Albany, Kris Keushgarian of Chicago, Ill.; and great-grandchildren Vincent Desalle, Kayla and Danielle Zinn. She is also survived by a sister, Dee Stafford, of Indianapolis, Ind.
She was predeceased by a son, Larry Keushgarian, and a daughter, Lynda Ames.
Funeral services will be Sunday, Oct. 24, 1999, at 2 p.m. at the Johnston Funeral Home in Morris, with the Rev. J. Mark Norlund officiating. Committal service and burial will be in the Hillington Cemetery in Morris. Calling hours will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Ruth M. Kostbar
STATEN ISLAND — Ruth M. Kostbar, 70, of Dongan Hills, a lifelong Staten Islander, a retired secretary and a homemaker, died Tuesday, Oct. 19, 1999, at home.
She was born Ruth M. Gundersen in West Brighton, Staten Island. She moved to Dongan Hills 36 years ago.
A homemaker, Mrs. Kostbar also worked for five years as a secretary with a former dredging company in Manhattan.
She graduated from Port Richmond High School.
Mrs. Kostbar was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Willowbrook.
Surviving are her husband, Robert, formerly of Oneonta; two daughters, Claire and Lynn Kostbar; her mother, Matilda Gundersen; a sister, Marjorie Armstrong; and a brother, Robert Gundersen.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to University Hospice, 256 Mason Ave., Staten Island, N.Y. 10305, would be appreciated.
The funeral will be held Friday, Oct. 22, 1999, at 11 a.m. in the Harmon Home for Funerals, West Brighton. The Rev. Paul Conner, pastor of Zion Lutheran Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Moravian Cemetery, New Dorp, Staten Island.
Leona Mitchell
MILFORD — Mrs. Leona Mitchell, 91, of Milford died Thursday, Oct. 21, 1999, at Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown.
She was born Feb. 24, 1908, in Otego, the daughter of Adelbert E. and May (Effner) Miller.
Leona married Frederick H. Mitchell on May 29, 1926, in Unadilla. He died Aug. 1, 1976.
A lifelong area resident, Leona was a member of the kitchen staff at the former Homer Folks Hospital, Oneonta, for several years before retiring. She was a member of the Oneonta Assembly of God Church.
She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Leona is survived by 11 grandchildren and their spouses, Gail and Thomas Thayer of Milford, Janet and Stan McLean of Indian Lake, Denice and Bill Vodek of Schenectady, Kelly and William Rogers of Schenevus, James and Vickie Laing III of Oneonta, Gary Laing and his fiancee, Karen Jennings, of Oneonta, John Laing of Oneonta, Dennis Laing of Oneonta, Jodie and David Eckberg of Tucson, Ariz., Kathy Crandall of Arizona, and Michael and Diane Mitchell of Schenectady. Leona also is survived by 22 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her son, Gerald H. Mitchell, and daughter, Thelma M. Laing. Leona also was predeceased by two granddaughters, Paula and Nancy Laing, and a grandson, Jamie Laing.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 25, 1999, from the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oneonta, with the Rev. John Greiner, pastor of the Oneonta Assembly of God, officiating. Burial will be in the Oneonta Plains Cemetery, Oneonta.
Friends may call at the Bookhout Funeral Home, Oneonta, on Sunday evening, Oct. 24, 1999, from 7 to 9 p.m., when the family will be present at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be given to the charity of one's choice in memory of Leona Mitchell.

Michael Frezza Jr.
MOHAWK — Michael P. Frezza Jr., stillborn son of Jean Palmer and Michael P. Frezza, died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 1999, in Crouse Irving Memorial Hospital, Syracuse.
He is survived by his parents, Jean and Michael of Mohawk; maternal grandparents, Ruth and Grant Palmer of Richfield Springs; paternal grandparents, Joyce Collea of Utica and Louis Frezza of Ilion; maternal great-grandparents, Grant Palmer Sr. of Monticello and Milton and Alice Palmer of West Winfield; paternal great-grandparents, Louis Frezza Sr. of Herkimer and Agnes Gore of Ilion; a sister, Candace Frezza, 10; a brother, Allan Palmer, 9; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral service and interment in Lakeview Cemetery will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Richard A. Hodge
BINGHAMTON — Sgt. Richard A. Hodge, 52, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Oct. 21, 1999.
He is survived by his wife, Paula Hodge; three sons and two daughters-in-law, William Finnerty of Binghamton, Lewis and Chris Finnerty of Johnson City and Rick and Carrie Hodge Jr. of Unadilla; two daughters and one son-in-law, Nicole and James McRorie of Greene and Pamela Hodge of Conklin; nine beloved grandchildren; one sister and brother-in-law, Cheryl and Steve Carson of Florida; one brother and sister-in-law, George and Jodi Unsinger of California; two brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law, Edward and Lori Baier of North Carolina and Tom Baier of Binghamton; one uncle and aunt, George and Dot James of Washington; and many beloved friends.
He was an Army Vietnam veteran and was currently a sergeant on active duty in the New York Army National Guard of Binghamton for more than 18 years. He was also a sergeant for the Bainbridge Police Department for many years.
He was a member of the Broome County Sheriff's Association and a member of the VFW.
Funeral and committal services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. from the Wm. R. Chase and Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango St., Port Dickinson, with Maj. Barry Baron, chaplain of New York Army National Guard, officiating.
Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
Melanie J. Moore
HOBART — Melanie J. Moore, 44, of Hobart, died Thursday, Oct. 21, 1999, at Fox Hospital, Oneonta.
She was born June 14, 1955, in Jefferson, the daughter of Charles and Eugenia (Smith) Moore.
She is survived by her daughter, April Moore of Hobart; father, Charles Moore of Hobart; and a brother, Russell D. Moore of California; as well as three nieces and nephews.
A lifelong area resident, Melanie worked for AudioSears in Stamford for eight years. She was a graduate of South Kortright Central School and a member of the Hobart United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will take place Wednesday, Oct. 27, 1999, at 2 p.m. at the Hobart United Methodist Church with Pastor Richard Elder officiating. There will be no calling hours. Burial will be at Locust Hill Cemetery, Hobart.
Contributions in her memory may be made to the Hobart United Methodist Church.

Murial Mulholland
ONEONTA — Murial H. Mulholland, LPN, 75, of Oneonta, died Oct. 21, 1999, at Albany Medical Center after an extended illness.
She was born Sept. 3, 1924, in the Bronx, the daughter of Henry E. and Helen V. (Cornell) Weisgerber.
She was married in 1948 in New York City to John J. Mulholland, PE, the resident engineer of the New York state Department of Transportation for Delaware County until his death June 1, 1965. They had eight children.
Mrs. Mulholland was a graduate of St. Barnabas Academy, Grace Institute and the State University of New York at Delhi. She worked as an executive secretary to the president of the Remington Rand Corporation in New York City and later as a licensed practical nurse at O'Connor Hospital in Delhi; the Winter Park Towers in Winter Park, Fla. and the Little Sisters of the Poor in Latham. She was a lifelong member of the Rosary Society of the Roman Catholic Church.
Surviving are her brothers, Henry E. Weisgerber of Margaretville and Arthur E. Weisgerber of Calabash, N.C., and her children, Ellen Mulholland Huggins of Clifton Park, John J. Mulholland III of New York, Kevin F. Mulholland of Oneonta, Maureen A. Meyerhoff of Boone, N.C., Eileen J. Tiffany of Cary, N.C., Denis G. Mulholland of LaFayette, Brendan J. Mulholland of San Francisco, Calif. and Megeen R. Mulholland of Albany, as well as 11 grandchildren.
Calling hours will take place on Sunday, Oct. 24, from 4-9 p.m. at the MacArthur Funeral Home, 131 Main St., Delhi. The funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, Oct. 25, 1999, at 11 a.m. at St. Peter's Church, Delhi with Father Joseph Manerowski and Father Edward Ryan officiating. She will be buried at Woodland Cemetery, Delhi, alongside her husband.

Bernard Wilfeard
COOPERSTOWN — Bernard Leigh Wilfeard Sr., 52, of Cooperstown died unexpectedly Thursday evening, Oct. 21, 1999, at M.I. Bassett Hospital.
He was born on March 30, 1947, in Rochester, a son of Herbert B. and Irene (Childs) Wilfeard.
He married Judy Palmer on Oct. 5, 1968, in Cooperstown.
Bernie grew up in Cooperstown, where he attended local schools. He served in the U.S. Army from 1966 until 1968. Following his discharge from the service, he was employed by McEwan's Hardware in Cooperstown and from 1968 until 1971 by the Otsego County Infirmary. From 1971 until 1980 he was employed by Remington Arms in Ilion and from 1980 until 1990 he was employed at The Meadows. From 1990 until the time of his death, he was on the maintenance staff at the Otsego County office buildings.
Bernie enjoyed the outdoors, especially camping, fishing and muzzle loading. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Judy; his son, Bernard L. Wilfeard Jr.; his daughter, Renee I. Wilfeard; his mother, Irene Wilfeard; two grandchildren, Katelynn Fairchild and Tyler Wilfeard, both of Cooperstown; two brothers, Bradley K. Wilfeard and his wife, Kathleen, and David M. Wilfeard and his wife, Elizabeth, also of Cooperstown; three sisters, Nedena Swift and her husband, Ronald, of Worcester, Holly Pearsall and her husband, Edward, of Newport, and Peggy Basile and her husband, Alan, of Cooperstown; an aunt, Alma Wilfeard of Rochester; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Brenda Kane of Cooperstown and Jackie Stalter of Cherry Valley; and a brother-in-law, Buddy Palmer of New Berlin.
He was predeceased by his son, Brian Keith Wilfeard, who died at birth on Nov. 10, 1970; and his father, Herbert B. Wilfeard, who died in 1983.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 25, 1999, at the Connell, Dow and Deysenroth Funeral Home with the Rev. Douglas S. Burleigh, chaplain of Bassett Healthcare, officiating.
Burial will follow in Fly Creek Valley Cemetery with full military honors accorded by Sgt. Walter P. Eggleston, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 7128, and Clark F. Simmons, American Legion Post No. 579.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday evening, Oct. 24, 1999, from 7-9 p.m., when Bernie's family will be in attendance.

Lee S. Hull
DEPOSIT — Lee S. Hull, 89, of Deposit died Saturday, Oct. 23, 1999, at Lourdes Hospital in Binghamton.
He was born May 29, 1910, in Oneonta, the son of Frank C. Hull and Jenny Starr Hull.
He had been a resident of Deposit since 1945. He was predeceased by his wife, Alberta, in 1997.
Lee is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Frederick Lee and Julie Hull of Haslett, Mich.; three daughters and sons-in-law, Laura J. and Wilbur Decker of Deposit, Carol Ann and Ralph Wood of Binghamton, and Janet Faye and Dr. Richard Tenser of Hershey, Pa.; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He retired from NYSEG after 46 years and remained very active in the Deposit community.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. today at the McClure First United Methodist Church, McClure, with the Rev. John Goodwin, pastor of the church, officiating. A luncheon will follow the service in the church social room.
Friends wishing may make memorial donations to the Deposit Emergency Squad, the McClure First United Methodist Church or to the Deposit Rotary Club for its scholarship fund.
