Frederick Terhune
PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. — Frederick J. Terhune, 72, of Port Charlotte, Fla., died Tuesday, Sept. 21, 1999, at Baptist Hospital in Miami, Fla.
He was born April 30, 1927, in Babylon, N.Y., and moved to Charlotte County as a permanent resident this year.
He was the former owner and funeral director of F.J. Terhune Funeral Home in Bainbridge, N.Y. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
Frederick is survived by his loving wife, Betty A. Terhune of Port Charlotte, Fla.; a daughter, Donna Brooks of Salem, Conn.; a son, John F. Terhune of Port Charlotte, Fla.; a sister, Elsie Hall of Venice, Fla.; two grandsons, Barrett Brooks of Salem, Conn., and Ryan Terhune of Port Charlotte, Fla.; a stepgranddaughter, Terra Dillard of Alabama; a stepgreat-granddaughter, Blakely Dillard of Alabama; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Thursday, 7 to 9 p.m., Sept. 23, 1999, at the Roberson Funeral Home Punta Gorda Chapel. Funeral services will be held Friday, 10 a.m., Sept. 24, 1999, at the Roberson Funeral Home Punta Gorda Chapel, with the Rev. Michael H. Wilson, of St. James Episcopal Church, officiating. Interment to follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens, Port Charlotte, Fla.

Daniel E. Lewis Jr.
HARPURSVILLE — Mr. Daniel E. Lewis Jr., of Harpursville, 69, died peacefully Thursday morning, Sept. 23, 1999, at his home after a courageous battle with lung cancer.
He was born Aug. 3, 1930, in Oneonta, the son of Daniel E. and Rose C. (Virtell) Lewis Sr.
He married Janet Stark on Aug. 15, 1954, in Franklin.
Daniel served in the United States Air Force as an airman first class stationed in Guam during the Korean Conflict.
He retired from Agway after 40 years as the night shift manager in the Feed Division. After his retirement, he drove for the Harpursville Central School for 26 years.
He was a member of the Windsor Methodist Church, and the Harpursville American Legion. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.
Mr. Lewis is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Janet of Harpursville; one daughter and son-in-law, Denise and Garry Skovsende of Franklin; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Dennis and Christine Lewis of Afton, Douglas Lewis of Binghamton and Tracy Lewis and his companion, Diane Lowe, of Harpursville; one sister and brother-in-law, Pauline and the Rev. Carl Wayman of Oneonta; eight grandchildren, Jamie and Brandon Skovsende of Franklin, Mitchell, Matthew, Russell, and Joshua Lewis of Afton, Ryan Lewis and his sister, Danielle Lowe, of Harpursville; very special cousins, Pete and Alna Virtell of New Berlin and Laura Halpin of South Carolina; one nephew; as well as several other cousins; two sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Joan and Jim Klukkert of Florida and Carel and Mel LaVier of Arkansas; and one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Darel and Diane Stark of Oneonta.
Daniel was predeceased by his parents and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Wendell and Hazel Stark.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, Sept. 27, 1999, at 1 p.m. at the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oneonta. Burial will be in the Oneonta Plains Cemetery, Oneonta.
The family will be present at the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oneonta, Sunday, Sept. 26, 1999, from 7 to 9 p.m. for those who wish may call.
It has been requested that in lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy be made to either the Hospice at Lourdes Hospital, 169 Riverside Drive, Binghamton, N.Y. or to the American Cancer Society, Southern District Office, 57 Front St., Binghamton, N.Y., 13905 in loving memory of Daniel E. Lewis Jr.

Howard J. Duncan
RICHFIELD SPRINGS — Mr. Howard James Duncan, 90, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 22, 1999, at his home.
He was born Dec. 11, 1918, in Summit, the son of Edward and Sarah (VanBuren) Duncan Sr.
On Sept. 17, 1946, he married Dorothy K. Haggerty in the Presbyterian Parsonage, Cooperstown, she survives.
Mr. Duncan was educated in Milford Central School and served in the United States Army in Germany during World War II. He worked on the CC Camps and was a painter for several years. He last worked at Utica Drop Forge Tool Co. for many years until retiring in 1973.
He was a member of the Hugick, Pyrcell, Shepard American Legion Post 616 and International Association of Machinist Aerospace Workers Union 1509.
Besides his wife Dorothy R. Duncan of Richfield Springs, he is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Neil (Linda) Groetken of Lemars, Iowa, Mrs. Leslie (Ramona) Smith of Richfield Springs, Ms. Doreen Mang of Fort Plain and Mrs. Robin (Jean) Tilbe of Bridgewater; two sons, Ronald Duncan of Maryland and Dennis Duncan of Richfield Springs; 13 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; four brothers, Edward Duncan Jr. of Burlington Flats, Frank Duncan of Schuyler Lake, Raymond Duncan of Monticello and Elwin Duncan of Hartwick; two sisters, Elizabeth Sparks of Herkimer and Isabelle Barbera of Richfield Springs; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by three brothers, Fred, Herbert and Sylvan Duncan; and a sister, Louise Kenyon.
Cremation took place at the Leatherstocking Crematory Inc., Cherry Valley.
There will be a memorial service held at the Ottman Funeral Home, Cherry Valley on Monday, Sept. 27, 1999, at 11 a.m., with the Rev. John Young officiating. Burial will follow with a military service in the Lakeview Cemetery, Richfield Springs.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ottman Funeral Home, Cherry Valley.
Michael G. Tesla
EARLVILLE — Mr. Michael G. Tesla, 90 years, of South Lebanon Road, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 22, 1999, at University Hospital, Syracuse.
He was born Sept. 25, 1908, in Barnesborow, Pa., the son of Michael and Theresa Stupak Tesla, and attended local schools. He served with the United States Army during World War II in the Central Europe, Rhineland and Rome-Arno battles.
In October 1938, Mr. Tesla married the former Henrietta Kelsey, in St. Mary's Church, Oneonta. She predeceased him on July 27, 1989.
He was a self-employed dairy farmer in Sherburne and Columbus until his retirement. He was a communicant of St. Malachy's Church in Sherburne.
Mr. Telsa is survived by a daughter, Michaeleen G. Tesla of Sherburne: a sister-in-law, Louise Tesla of Florida; his grandchildren, Lisa and Bill Wyman of Earlville, John Jr. and Jennifer Zbydniewski, Jona Zbydniewski, Michael and Amy Zbydniewsli, all of Sherburne, Gina and Pete Trask of Dundee; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by his dear service buddy, Mac Farrow of Earlville.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Theresa Tesla in 1948; two brothers, Andrew and Joseph Tesla; and four sisters, Theresa Selepchak, Mary Salley, Sister Concepta and Sister Assumpta.
Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 25, 1999, from the Burgess Funeral Home, 10 S. Main St., Sherburne, followed by a 9:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial from St. Malachy's Church, Sherburne.
Burial with full military honors will be made in the Hillington Cemetery, Morris.
Friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Friday, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
A prayer service will be held at the funeral home at 8 p.m., Friday.
Harriet Hayes
CHERRY VALLEY — Ms. Harriet Hayes, 88, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 22, 1999, at The Meadows.
She was born Nov. 9, 1910, in St. Johnsville, the daughter of Adelford and Orva (Hillegas) Hayes.
Ms. Hayes worked on the family farm, Rocky Acres, from 1927-1993.
Harriet is survived by a niece-in-law, Esther Hayes of Cherry Valley; nephew-in-law, Harry Iverson; nieces, Mrs. Gerald (Orva) Wilmot of Cherry Valley, Mrs. Richard (Harriet) Hayen of Memphis, N.Y., Mrs. Eleanor Hudson of Paradise, Pa., Ms. Orva Gray of Oppenheim, Mrs. Rodney (Kathern) Montana of Oppenheim; two cousins, Mildred and Margaret Walrous of St. Johnsville; many great- and great-great-nieces and nephews; and two great-great-great-nephews.
Ms. Hayes was predeceased by two sisters, Ida Hayes and Myra Hamond; two brothers, Harold and Ivan Hayes; sister-in-law, Mary Jane Hayes; and nieces and nephews, Harold W. Hayes, William Hudson, Kenneth Hudson and Gladys Iverson.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 25, 1999, at 3 p.m. at the Ottman Funeral Home, Cherry Valley, with the Rev. Ron Fralick officiating. Burial will follow in the Cherry Valley Cemetery, Cherry Valley.
There will be one hour of calling on Saturday, from 2 p.m. until service time.
Contributions in Ms. Hayes' memory may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Rose H. Baum
STAMFORD — Rose H. Baum, 97, of 3 Holly Tree Rd., Stamford, died Thursday, Sept. 23, 1999, at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital in Oneonta.
She was born Jan. 14, 1902, in Kyserike, the daughter of Ernest and Maude (Krom) Harp.
She married A. Paul Baum on June 10, 1922, in Ossining. Paul died Oct. 19, 1977.
Rose was a member of the Franklin United Methodist Church in Franklin, and the Utsayantha Post 1379 American Auxiliary in Stamford.
Rose is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, June and Fred Dugan of Stamford and Elaine and Edward Harris of Longmont, Calif.; a grandson, Patrick J. Dugan of Stamford; a granddaughter, Suzanne E. Harris of Thornton, Colo.; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.
Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Herkimer.
The family requests no flowers. Expressions of sympathy in Rose's memory are to be made to the American Legion Auxiliary Post 1379, P.O. Box 362, Stamford, N.Y. 12167.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Hall Funeral Home, Stamford and Grand Gorge.
Frances E. Bobnick
LAURENS — Frances E. Bobnick, 78, of Laurens, died Thursday, Sept. 23, 1999, at her son's home in Richfield Springs after a lengthy illness.
Mrs. Bobnick was born Oct. 14, 1920, in East Worcester, the daughter of James and Mary (Anzeic) Milavec.
She married Stanley J. Bobnick on Nov. 28, 1937, at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Worcester. He predeceased her in 1964.
From 1943 to 1966, Mrs. Bobnick and her husband owned and ran a dairy farm in Milford. She then worked at the Upstate Home for Children in Milford as a night nurse's aid. Mrs. Bobnick retired from the Milford post office where she had worked for more than 20 years and was the post master for several years.
Mrs. Bobnick was a member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Oneonta and was a past mayor of Milford, serving two terms.
She is survived by two sons, Richard T. and his wife, Janet Bobnick, of Richfield Springs and David Bobnick of Milford; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary and her husband, Joe Bobnick, of Worcester and Ann Vaughn of East Worcester; a brother, John and his wife, Joan Milavec, of Schenectady and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by five brothers, Louis, James, Anthony, Stanley and Frank Milavec; and two sisters, Jenny Milavec and Amelia Muehl.
Per Mrs. Bobnick's request, there will be a private family viewing Tuesday, Sept. 28, from 10 a.m.-noon at the E.J. Skinner Co. Funeral Chapel in Worcester.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, Sept. 28, at noon at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Main Street, Worcester with the Rev. Paul Roman, pastor of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Oneonta, as celebrant and Rev. Edward Golding, pastor of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, as co-celebrant.
Burial will be in the St. Joseph's Cemetery, Worcester.

Heinz-Georg Moeller
ONEONTA — Heinz-Georg Hermann Moeller, 53, of Oneonta, died Thursday, Sept. 23, 1999, unexpectedly at his residence.
He was born on Sept. 26, 1945, in Leibzig, Germany, the son of Hugo and Meta (Guhlke) Moeller.
He married Liz Kramer on Oct. 9, 1971, in Marlboro.
Immigrating to this country with his family at the age of 15, Heinz graduated from the Walton Central School and the State University College of Technology at Delhi. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and received a commendation medal for meritorious service while in Vietnam.
For the past 11 years, Heinz has been associated with the CPA firm of Gruver and Scott as an accounting manager. Before that he was affiliated with Talevi and Parlato and Rogers and Patterson.
He was a member of the Oneonta American Legion Post 259 and the Oneonta Elks BPOE 1312. As a founding member of the Oneonta Jaycees, Heinz served a term as president and was instrumental in promoting the Oneonta youth soccer program. He played softball in the Oneonta City League and was voted coach of the year in 1979 by his teammates.
He is survived by his wife, Liz Moeller of Oneonta; his brothers and sisters, Adolph Moeller of Florida, Horst Moeller of Lewiston, Pa., Rainer Moeller of Alabama, Gisela Jones of Issaquah, Wash., Inge Gronau of Tacoma, Wash., along with siblings in Germany. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to call on Monday from 7-9 p.m. at the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, where at 8:30 p.m. Oneonta BPOE 1312 will conduct a Lodge of Sorrow.
A military graveside committal service, in which friends are invited to attend, will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 28, 1999 at 2 p.m. in the Glenwood Cemetery, Oneonta (Use back entrance off Cemetery Hill Road). Oneonta American Legion Post 259 will accord the military honors.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion Post 259 or BPOE 1312.

Thomas Clark Jr.
ONEONTA — Mr. Thomas William Clark Jr., 80, of Oneonta, died Friday morning, Sept. 24, 1999, in Jefferson.
He was born July 23, 1919, in Philadelphia, Pa., the son of Thomas William and Celia (Lutz) Clark Sr.
He married Doris Moorby on Sept. 11, 1949, in Oneonta. Doris died Oct. 13, 1990.
Tom graduated from Laurens Central School in 1937. He attended St. Lawrence University on a baseball scholarship. He had served in the United States Army during World War II. He was involved in many major campaigns in Europe and Africa during World War II and was a recipient of several purple hearts.
Tom worked for Elmore Milling Co. and West Nesbitt from 1939 until its close in 1997. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 259 and a longtime bowler in the Fraternal League for the VFW.
Tom was an avid golfer who enjoyed fishing, baseball and spending time with his granddaughters. Tom will be greatly missed by all.
He is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Thomas and Nora Clark of Oneonta and Douglas Clark and his two daughters, Amy and Rachel Clark, of Oneonta and their mother, Traci Clark; a sister-in-law, Audrey Kusnerak of Jefferson; two brothers, James Clark of Davenport and William Clark of Oneonta; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Tom was predeceased by two sisters, Margaret Clark and Doris "Peg" Clark.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 28, 1999, at 11 a.m. at Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oneonta. The family will be present at the Bookhout Funeral Home on Monday, Sept. 27 ,from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. for those who wish to call.

George H. Warner
WORCESTER — George H. Warner, 85, of Worcester, died Thursday, Sept. 23, 1999, at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital, Oneonta.
George was born May 24, 1914, in Jefferson, the son of Percy and Pearl (Moak) Warner.
George married Frances Butler in 1933 in Schenevus. She died Feb. 20, 1971. He then married Eleanor DeVillers in 1972 in Schenevus, she died Sept. 13, 1984.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving in World War II.
He worked as a carpenter since 1941 with area construction companies. In 1972 he owned and operated Warner Saw Service in Worcester, retiring in 1992.
George was a lifetime member of the Oneonta Local 258, past member of the C.H. Graham Hose Co., in Schenevus, past mayor of Schenevus and was a past supervisor of the town of Worcester.
He is survived by his loving companion, Leah Lobdell of Worcester; three children, Mrs. Leonard (Helen) Wheeler of Somers, Conn., Janet Snyder of Parrish, Fla., and Robert G. Warner of Sanger, Calif.; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ethel Weber of Connecticut, Mildred Saggese of Oneonta; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Nancy Munson; and a brother, Donald Warner.
Friends may call Sunday, Sept. 26, from 7-9 p.m. at E.J. Skinner Co. Funeral Chapel, 115 Main St., Worcester.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Sept. 27, at 1 p.m. at the E.J. Skinner Co. Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Joyce Allen, pastor of the Worcester and East Worcester United Methodist Church, officiating.
Burial will be in the Schenevus Cemetery.
