Frank A. Muller
COLUMBUS — Frank A. Muller, 61, of Columbus, died Sunday, June 6, 1999, in Cooperstown.
He was born April 16, 1938, in Rockford, Ill., son of Frank and Marybell (Hitchner) Muller.
He was the husband of the late Dorothy (Beckwith) Muller. He married Karen Bown on Feb. 16, 1991, who survives.
He spent his childhood in the East Hamilton area, and attended Hamilton School.
He was superintendent for O.W. Hubbell from 1959 to 1991. Currently he was employed by E.M.I. Guildrail L.L.C.
He was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, New Berlin. He was a member of the Labor Union Local No. 157.
Frank is survived by his children, Kathy and James Fox of Norwich, Janice and Jake Bays of Smyrna, Christopher and Jannette Roche of Columbus, Lisa and Gary Denton of West Winfield, Vicki and Jim Larry of Virginia Beach, Va., and Frank A. Jr. and Shannon Muller of Aurora, Colo.; stepchildren, Donna Risley of Florida and Otto "Buddy" Kristoferson of Nevada; 16 grandchildren; one brother; and nine sisters.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 9, 1999, at 1 p.m. at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, New Berlin, with the Rev. Charles Taylor, of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, officiating. Interment will be in the Union Cemetery, Edmeston. Calling hours will be Tuesday, June 8, 1999, from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Dakin Funeral Home, New Berlin.
Memorial donations may be made to the St. Andrew's Church for the Malory Johnson Benefit Fund.

Isabell Alice Burgess
ONEONTA — Isabell Alice Burgess, 69, of Oneonta and formerly of Springfield, Mass., died Monday, June 7, 1999, at her residence after a lengthy illness.
She was born June 20, 1929, in Chicopee, Mass., the daughter of Alexander and Bertha (Hervieux) Brault.
She was formerly married to Frederick J. LeBlance Sr., and was currently married to Ronald A. Burgess.
Mrs. Burgess was a former employee of Bendix Corp. in Sidney. She was a resident of upstate New York and Massachusetts for most of her life.
Mrs. Burgess is survived by her husband at home; two sons, Frederick J. LeBlance Jr. of South Hadley, Mass., and Garry F. LeBlance of Chicopee, Mass.; one daughter, Suzanne M. Holmes of Sarasota, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; six broth"ers, Edgar Brault of Stratford, N.H., Alexander and his wife, Linda Brault, of Waco, Texas, Norman and Nan Brault of Frankfort, Charles and Beth Brault of Phoenix, Ariz., David and Cathy Brault of Cario and Ronald and Janice Brault of Whitesboro; one sister, Janet, and her husband, William DeWitt, of Davenport.
Private funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 9, 1999, at the Lewis-Hurley Funeral Home, 51 Dietz St., Oneonta, with the Rev. Andrea Powell, Catskill Area Hospice chaplain, officiating. Burial will follow in Plains Cemetery, Oneonta.
There will be no calling hours.

Arthur L. Brown
ONEONTA — Arthur L. Brown, 91, of Oneonta, died Sunday, June 6, 1999, at the New York State Veteran's Home, Oxford.
He was born Sept. 10, 1907, in Tafton, Pa., the son of James and Martha (Warner) Brown.
He married Florence Rake on Dec. 21, 1927, in Stroudsburg, Pa. Mrs. Brown died Feb. 25, 1974.
Arthur had served in the United States Army for three years before being honorably discharged.
He worked as a machinist for the Immohr Machine Shop in New Milford, Pa.
He was a past member of the Oneonta Eagles. He enjoyed fishing and took a lot of pride in his gardening.
Arthur is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Gloria and Roger Carr of Oneonta; two sons and daughters-in-law, Arnold and Joyce Brown of Walton and Robert and Vivian Brown of Otego; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 10, 1999, at 11 a.m. at the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oneonta, with the Rev. Melvin Farmer, pastor of the River Street Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Oneonta Plains Cemetery, Oneonta.
The famiy will be present at the Bookhout Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 9, 1999, from 7 to 9 p.m. for those who wish may call.

EDMESTON — Graveside committal services for Marga Albanese, 78, of Edmeston, will be held Friday, June 11, 1999, at 2 p.m. in the Hillington Cemetery in Morris with the Rev. Dr. Donald Boardman officiating.
Herbert Sweet
Memorial services for Herbert M. Sweet, who died on June 3, 1999, will be held on Wednesday, June 16, 1999, at 11 a.m. at the New York State Veteran's Home in Oxford.
Grace Nellie Hall
UNADILLA — Grace N. Hall, 79, of R.D. No. 1, Unadilla, passed away Saturday, June 5, 1999, at the Chase Memorial Nursing Home, New Berlin.
She was born Aug. 27, 1919, in Union Grove. Mrs. Hall was the daughter of the late Edward and Nellie Collins Brannen.
On June 25, 1938, she married Clarence E. Hall in Margaretville. He predeceased her on Feb. 6, 1982.
Grace is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Mildred and Edward Ellison of Unadilla and Sandra and Ronald Merwin of Holley; a son and daughter-in-law, David C. and Marilyn Hall of Mount Upton; nine grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mrs. Hall is also survived by her special nephew, Rick Hall of Unadilla.
Grace was also predeceased by her five brothers, Horace, Watson, Frank, John and Henry Brannen.
At Mrs. Hall's request private family graveside services will be held on Wednesday, June 9, 1999, at their convenience. Burial will be in the Evergreen Hill Cemetery, Unadilla.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in her name may be directed to the Unadilla Emergency Squad, if desired.
Arrangements are under the direction of the C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney.
Marcia Prihoda
CAPE CORAL, Fla. — Marcia (Betty) Prihoda passed away on Saturday, June 5, 1999, at Coral Trace Manor Nursing Home in Cape Coral, Fla.
She was born on July 16, 1923, in Granton, N.Y., and was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, William, and also a son, William Jr.
She was a 14-year resident of Cape Coral, Fla. Betty was also a longtime resident of Rockland County, N.Y. Before moving to Cape Coral, Fla., she and her husband had retired to Oneonta, N.Y.
Betty is survived by her son, David, and his wife, Robin, of Cape Coral, Fla. She is also survived by a sister, Doris Scrambling of Binghamton, N.Y.; and brother, Jess Davis of Oneonta, N.Y.; William Jr.'s wife, Irene; and four grandchildren, Joseph, Tracey and Arthur of Maryland, N.Y., and Karl of Orlando, Fla.
As per Betty's wishes, there will be no memorial service and the family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
Oliver K. Smith
VAN HORNESVILLE — Oliver K. Smith, 80, of Wiltse Road, died on Monday evening, June 7, 1999, after a long illness, in Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown.
He was born on April 7, 1919, in Van Hornesville, son of the late Clyde R. and Hazel Kinter Smith.
A lifelong Van Hornesville resident, he graduated from Van Hornesville Central School.
On Oct. 4, 1940, he married Evelyn I. Smith in the Lutheran Church Parsonage, Fort Plain.
For the past 52 years he owned and operated the O.K. Smith & Son Dairy Farm, Van Hornesville, as well as drove school bus for 16 years for the Van Hornesville Central School district.
He was a member of the Universalist Mill Pond Church and an exempt fireman with the Van Hornesville Volunteer Fire Department. For many years he served as president and director of Van Hornesville Cooperative Milk Producers.
His leisure time was spent hunting, he was an avid bowler, and for many years secretary for the Van Hornesville Bowling League. He was also a devoted New York Yankee fan.
Oliver is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Evelyn; a daughter, Shirley, and her husband, Gary Flint, of Azle, Texas; three sons, Richard and his wife, Eleanor Smith, and William "Willie" Smith, all of Van Hornesville, and Kenneth and his wife, Kathy Smith, of Fort Worth, Texas; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two nephews and many cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 11, 1999, at 11 a.m. in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James St., Richfield Springs, with the Rev. Kenneth Dingman officiating. Interment will follow in Van Hornesville Cemetery. Calling hours on Thursday, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

Isabell Alice Burgess

Barbara Schwartz
DUNWOODY, Ga. — Ms. Barbara Deen Schwartz, 54, of Dunwoody, Ga., passed away Monday, May 24, 1999, after a brief illness.
She was born in Pittsburgh, Pa., on Feb. 3, 1945, the daughter of Lawrence Deen and Mary (Mellon) Schwartz.
Ms. Schwartz was a graduate of Rosemary Hall, Greenwich, Conn., and attended Western College in Miami, Ohio. She was formerly employed for many years at Jordan, McGrath Inc., New York, as an office administrator.
Ms. Schwartz is survived by her sisters, Virginia S. Breeden of Keedysville, Md., and Sarah S. Wey of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.; and four nephews.
Graveside funeral and committal services will be held in the Cherry Valley Cemetery, Cherry Valley, on Saturday, June 12, 1999, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Alvin Burnworth, of Grace Episcopal Church, Cherry Valley, officiating. Burial will follow.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Ms. Schwartz's memory may be made to Hospice/Atlanta, 1244 Parta Vista Dr., Atlanta, Ga. 30319.

Irene B. Mottram
HARTWICK — Burial and committal services for Irene B. Mottram, 74, of Wells Avenue in Hartwick, who died March 23, 1999, will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 12, 1999, in Hartwick Cemetery with the Rev. John R. Roos, pastor of St. Mary's Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Cooperstown, officiating. A graveside service will be conducted by the Sgt. Walter P. Eggleston Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 7128 Women's Auxiliary.

Renee Blumenkrantz
ROSLYN HARBOR — Renee Blumenkrantz of Roslyn Harbor, Long Island, died Saturday, June 5, 1999.
She was born in Belfast, Ireland. She was the wife of the late Harris Blumenkrantz.
She was a devoted mother of the late Steven Blumenkrantz and David Blumenkrantz. She was a dear grandmother of Katie and Michael.

Funeral services were held on Long Island.
Gertrude Van Hoesen
ONEONTA — Mrs. Gertrude L. Van Hoesen, 78, died Wednesday morning, June 9, 1999, at her home.
Gertrude was born Sept. 15, 1920, in Butternuts, the daughter of Robert and Mabel (Dixson) Simonds.
She married Bennett Van Hoesen on Nov. 11, 1938, in Milford.
Gertrude was a lifelong area resident except for 10 years when she lived in the Albany area. She was a member of the Main Street Baptist Church of Oneonta.
Gertrude is survived by her husband of 60 years, Bennett Van Hoesen of Oneonta; a daughter and son-in-law, Leona R. and the Rev. Floyd Baker Sr. of Lititz, Pa.; two grandchildren, Karl S. Baker of Lancaster, Pa., and Lawrence M. Baker of Lititz, Pa.; 10 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Robert H. Simonds Jr. of Oneonta, and Henry W. Simonds and Lynwood Simonds of Otego; a sister, Beverly Lambrecht of Sidney Center; many nieces and nephews; and a very dear friend, Dawn Siems of Oneonta.
She was predeceased by a sister, Ruth Evans.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, June 12, 1999, at the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oneonta, with the Rev. Floyd Baker Sr., son-in-law of Gertrude, and the Rev. Gary Bonebrake, pastor of the Main Street Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow at the Oneonta Plains Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday evening, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Expressions of sympathy may be made in Gertrude's memory to the Main Street Baptist Church of Oneonta.

Eugene F. Faoro
GRAND GORGE — Eugene F. Faoro, 53, formerly of Grand Gorge, died Tuesday, June 8, 1999, at the Conroe Regional Medical Center, Conroe, Texas.
He was born July 19, 1945, in Margaretville, the son of Virgino Faoro and Ann Lanzi.
He was employed as a civil engineer and had worked for firms in New Jersey and Texas.
He was presently living in Spring, Texas, after living in Grand Gorge for several years.
He was a former member of Grand Gorge Fire Department and was a fire commissioner for the fire district. He joined a rodeo group in Houston, Texas. He was a graduate of the Academy of Aeronautics in New York City in 1966.
Eugene is survived by three daughters, Jill Faoro of Albany, Kimberly and son-in-law, Dean Stahl, of Stamford and Andrea Faoro of Albany; his mother, Ann Faoro of Valatie; two sisters, Mrs. Leo (Maureen) Wisniewski of Niverville and Mrs. Richard (Christine) Bellinger of Harpersfield; nieces, Angela, Melissa, Renee and Rebecca; and nephews, Jason and Adam.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. at the Fairview Cemetery, Grand Gorge, on Monday, June 14, 1999, with the Very Rev. Robert H. Purcell officiating. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Grand Gorge. Calling hours will be held Monday, June 14, from 10 a.m. to noon at Miller Funeral Home, Roxbury.
Contributions in memory of Eugene Faoro may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.

Virginia E. Short
BINGHAMTON — Virginia E. Short, 57, went to be with the Lord, Monday, June 7, 1999.
She was a former member of the Little White Church, Conklin.
Virginia is survived by her husband of 15 years, Dudley B. Short of Binghamton; three children, Laura and George Dale of Binghamton, Richard and Rebecca Furman of Endicott and Danielle Hunsinger of Endicott; seven grandchildren, Jessica, Jennifer, George, Ashley, Richard, Nathan, Tyler; three brothers, Carl and Sharon Staff of Kentucky, Richard Staff and Walter and Marion Staff of Pennsylvania; four sisters, Caroline and Lawrence Furman of Conklin, Marlene Staff of Binghamton, Mary and Don Lambert of Schenevus and Linda and James Homkey of Canajoharie; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by one daughter, Kathleen; her parents, Walter and Mary Staff; and one brother, Thomas Staff.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 11, 1999, at 10 a.m. from the Wm. R. Chase and Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango St., Port Dickinson, with Pastor Dale Wilkinson officiating. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery, Taylor, Pa. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday, June 10, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

Arley A. McMullen
ZEPHYRHILLS, Fla. — Arley A. McMullen, 72, formerly of Oneonta, died Tuesday, June 8, 1999, at his home in Florida.
He was born Sept 4, 1926, the son of Claude and Nellie (Welsh) McMullen in Oneonta.
He was a 1946 graduate of Oneonta High School. He served in the United States Army for four years.
He married Jean VanDeusen in August 1952.
They resided in Oneonta all their life, until he retired from Custom Electronics in Oneonta, at which time they moved to Zephyrhills, Fla.
Arley is survived by his wife, Jean McMullen of Zephyrhills, Fla.; his mother, Nellie Hulbert of Oneonta; his sister, Arlene (McMullen) Wormuth of Greene; one daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Randy Morrison of Zephyrhills, Fla.; three sons and daughters-in-law, Steven and Maria McMullen of Oneonta, Gary and Wendy McMullen of Iowa and Jeff and Marie McMullen of Virginia; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held Thursday, June 10, 1999, in Zephyrhills, Fla., with burial following at Florida National Cemetery in St. Catherine, Fla.
Joseph Barbic
ROSEBOOM — Mr. Joseph Barbic, 84, passed away Tuesday, June 8, 1999, at The Meadows, Cooperstown.
He was born Feb. 13, 1915, in Uniontown, Pa., the son of Frank and Frances (Coby) Barbic.
Mr. Barbic worked for the Roseboom Highway Department as superintendent. He was a self-employed carpenter for many years and loved to build things.
Mr. Barbic is survived by a longtime friend, Ms. Marion Laymon of Roseboom; and a brother, J. Carl Barbic of Cobleskill.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 11, 1999, at 11 a.m. at the Ottman Funeral Home, Cherry Valley, with Mr. Lyman Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Dorloo Cemetery, Dorloo.
Calling hours will precede the service from 10 to 11 a.m.
