Henry V. Geoghan
FLEISCHMANNS — Henry V. Geoghan, 84, of Brush Ridge Road, Fleischmanns, died Monday, Jan. 11, 1999, at the Benedictine Hospital, Kingston.

He was born July 16, 1914, in New York City, the son of Joseph Geoghan and Mary Casey.

He married Marie Corrigan on Aug. 10, 1940, in Brooklyn.

He was a retired teacher and had worked in the New York City School system, retiring in 1979.

He was a summer resident sine 1976, moving to Fleischmanns permanently after retiring.

He was a member of the Sacred Heart Parish, Margaretville, where he taught confirmation classes for 15 years. He was a past member of the Fleischmanns Rotary Club.

He graduated from St. Johns University and received a law degree from New York Law School in 1954. He also received a master's degree in reading from City College of New York.

He was a volunteer worker for Margaretville Memorial Hospital and Skene Library in Fleischmanns. He was a literacy volunteer and was dedicated to helping people read.

Henry is survived by his wife, Marie Geoghan of Fleischmanns; three daughters, Muriel, Maryann and Brigid; five sons, Henry Jr., Thomas, Dennis, Kevin and Sean; 14 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; two nieces and one nephew.

A Memorial Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 16, 1999, at the Sacred Heart Church, Margaretville, with the Very Rev. Robert H. Purcell, officiating.

There will be no calling hours.

Arrangements are by Hynes Funeral Home, Margaretville.

Susan M. Manning
CORNWALL — Susan M. Manning, a retired supervisor for the United States Military PX at West Point, and a receptionist for Dr. Medina died Monday, Jan. 11, 1999, at her residence. She was 55.

The daughter of Charles W. and Anne Lawless Ott, she was born Dec. 17, 1943, in Middle Village, Queens, and was the widow of the late Robert G. Manning.

Survivors include her parents of West Babylon; two daughters, Debra Fanning and her husband, Kevin, of New Windsor and Suzanne M. Belladone and her husband, James A., of Highland Falls; a son, Robert G. Manning Jr. of Fort Montgomery; three grandchildren, Steven J. Smedman Jr., James A. Belladone Jr. and Nicole C. Belladone; three brothers, James Ott, Charles Ott and Gerald Ott, all of West Babylon; two sisters, Joanne Weir of Cooperstown and Kathleen Nocella of Smithtown; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are Wednesday, Jan. 13, 1999, from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday, Jan. 14, 1999, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the James F. Lulves Funeral Home Inc., 9 Ave. A., Cornwall-on-Hudson.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Friday, at 10 a.m. at St. Thomas of Canterbury Church, Hudson Street, Cornwall-on-Hudson, with the Rev. John P. McDonagh officiating. Burial will be private.

Funeral arrangements are by the James F. Lulves Funeral Home Inc., Cornwall-on-Hudson.

S. Walter Sperry
EDGEWATER, Fla. — S. Walter Sperry, 77, of 118 Bigelow St., Edgewater, Fla., died Dec. 29, 1998, at the Bert Fish Medical Center, New Smyrna Beach.

He was born Jan. 1, 1921, in Davenport, the son of Carl G. Sperry and Aimee (Bourn) Sperry. He moved from Oneonta to Florida in 1994.

During World War II, he served with the Army in Europe and the Philippines.

Mr. Sperry graduated from Worcester Central School, the State University College of Technology at Delhi, and Cornell University.

For 21 years, he taught Agriculture and Industrial Arts at Richmondville Central School and Middleburgh BOCES. After retiring, he was a teller at the Richmondville Bank for 10 years.

Mr. Sperry was a member of the Elm Park Methodist Church in Oneonta, Summit Grange, American Legion in New Smyrna Beach and Cobleskill, and Elks Lodge, where he was past exalted ruler.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Phyllis (Waid) Sperry; two sons, Wade of Gulfport, Fla., and Walter Carl of Binghamton; a sister, Helen McMullen of Davenport; and five grandchildren.

A memorial service was held at the Baldwin-Hughey Funeral Home in New Smyrna Beach, Fla.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

George Freeman Jr.
SOUTH KORTRIGHT — Mr. George E. Freeman Jr., 72, of South Kortright, died Tuesday morning, Jan. 12, 1999, at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital, Oneonta.

He was born May 19, 1926, in Jamaica, the son of George E. and Ethel (Wicks) Freeman Sr.

He married Virginia K. Alben on March 24, 1945, in Franklin Square, Long Island. Mrs. Freeman died Aug. 6, 1994.

George was raised in the town of Franklin Square, Long Island. He graduated from Sewanaka High School in 1943. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1943. He served in the European theater, in the invasion of Southern France. He served duty on assault boats. He was discharged in December 1945.

George retired from Suffolk County Carpenters Local No. 1222 in 1987. He had worked in Long Island in housing having built banks and restaurants. He continued making things from wood such as cabinets and doors. George and his wife moved to South Kortright in 1987, from Hauppauge, Long Island.

He was an active member in Trinity Lutheran Church, Stamford.

George is survived by three daughters and a son-in-law, Diana DiMiceli, Lynn F. Freeman and Carol and Eric Von Benecke; one granddaughter, Christina DiMiceli; one grandson, Matthew Benecke; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Mae Kessler, Dorothy and Ed Paice and Clara Anderson, all of Florida; and two brothers, William and Anthony Freeman of Florida.

Funeral and committal services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 16, 1999, at 11 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Stamford, with the Rev. Robert M. Duchow, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, Stamford, officiating.

Mr. Freeman will be cremated at the Hillington Crematory, Morris.

The family will be in attendance at the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oneonta on Thursday, Jan. 14, 1999, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. for those who wish may call.

It has been requested that in lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to either the Hobart Emergency Squad, Hobart, N.Y. 13788 or the Meridale Emergency Squad, Meridale, N.Y. 13806 in loving memory of George E. Freeman Jr.

Funeral arrangements are by Bookhout Funeral Homes, Oneonta and Otego.

George C. Campbell
RICHMONDVILLE — George C. Campbell, 93, of Main Street, Richmondville, died Wednesday, Jan. 13, 1999, at Bassett Hospital of Schoharie County at Cobleskill.

Mr. Campbell was born at Cobleskill, on July 29, 1905, the son of Myron and Ophelia Warner Campbell.

He attended Cobleskill High School. On April 9, 1935, at Oneonta, he was married to Margaret Lape. Mrs. Campbell died May 30, 1997.

In the 1930's, Mr. Campbell owned and operated Campbell's Radio and Electrical Service in Cobleskill and Richmondville.

During World War II, he was employed at Schenectady General Electric Building and Installing Radar Installations. In the 1940's, he was a school crossing guard and policeman in Richmondville and was also town of Richmondville constable, retiring in the 1960's. Later he was employed as a guard at Cushing Stone, Schoharie.

He was a founding member of the Schoharie County Association of Fire Police; a member of the Richmondville Exempt Firemen and a past treasurer of the Richmondville Fish and Game Club.

Mr. Campbell is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Harry (Dawne) Ingraham of Warnerville, Mrs. Donald (Carolyn) Sules of Meridale and Mrs. Charles (Jeanette) Cornwell of Central Bridge; eight grandchildren, Wendy Brumaghin of Cobleskill, Brenda Foland, Dale and Matthew Ingraham, all of Warnerville, Donald and Michael Sulas of Meridale, and Christopher and Daniel Cornwell of Central Bridge; five great-grandchildren, Heather, Kenneth, Thomas and Tyler Foland and Megan Brumaghin.

Services will be conducted Saturday, Jan. 16, 1999, at 2 p.m. at the Robert A. Guffin Funeral Home, 1 Chapel St., Cobleskill, with the Rev. Gary Edmister, pastor of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Richmondville, officiating.

Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home Friday, from 7 to 9 p.m.

Memorials to the church will be appreciated.

Interment will be in the spring in Cobleskill Rural Cemetery.

James J. Price
OTEGO — Mr. James J. Price, 99, of Otego, died Tuesday evening, Jan. 12, 1999, at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital, Oneonta.

He was born Nov. 29, 1899, in Kilquade County Wicklow, Ireland, the son of William and Marianne (Connally) Price.

Jim married the former Anne Pauline Pisony on Sept. 15, 1926, in Syracuse. She died Nov. 13, 1989.

Jim has resided with his son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Frederick J. and Estelle B. Price in Otego, for the past nine years. Prior to that he had lived in Syracuse and the state of New Jersey.

He had been a corporate coordinator for service for New York Telephone in New York City before his retirement in 1960. Prior to his marriage Jim was a member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in British Columbia and Manitoba. He was a veteran of the British Horse Artillery during World War I and a member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Oneonta.

Jim is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Frederick J. and Estelle B. Price of Otego; and two daughters and a son-in-law, Kathleen T. Stretton of Seattle, Wash., and Patricia A. and James Kavanagh of North Syracuse. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Anne, two sisters, Kathleen and Margaret, and two brothers, Wilfred and Fred.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 16, 1999, at St. Rose Roman Catholic Church, North Syracuse. Entombment will be in the Chapel of Resurrection Mausoleum, St. Mary's Cemetery, Dewitt.

There will be no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be given to the Alzheimer's Association, Northeastern New York Chapter, Leatherstocking Branch, P.O. Box 1364, Oneonta, N.Y. 13820 in memory of James J. Price.

Local funeral arrangements are by the Bookhout Funeral Homes, Oneonta and Otego.

Walter McCann Sr.
SIDNEY — Walter V. McCann Sr., 69, of Sidney, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 13, 1999, at Skilled Nursing Facility, The Hospital, Sidney.

He was born April 24, 1929, to Bernard and Anna Mae O'Keefe McCann in Brooklyn.

Walter served his country in the United States Navy.

He married Marie Gavin on Feb. 11, 1951, at Our Lady of Good Council, Brooklyn.

Walter was employed by American Can Co., in Brooklyn for 20 years.

He was an avid New York Met fan.

Walter is survived by his wife, Marie McCann of Sidney; three sons and daughters-in-law, Walter V. "Skip" and Patricia McCann of Sidney, Stephen and Rosalie McCann of Oneonta and B.J. and Susan McCann of Sidney; one daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Douglas Brower of Afton; eight grandchildren, Sean and Scott McCann, Jamie and Karlee McCann, Jason and Zachary McCann, and Alison and Sarah McCann; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Thomas and Maryann McCann of Florida and Robert and Julia McCann of Florida; one sister, Theresa Beach of Lake Carmel; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Bernard and Joseph.

Friends may call Friday, Jan. 15, 1999, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney.

A prayer service will be held at 8:30 p.m. Friday, with the Rev. Fr. Gordon Polenz, officiating. Burial will be in the spring.

Memorial contributions may be made to Catskill Area Hospice.

Arrangements are under the direction of C.H. Landers, Inc., 21 Main St., Sidney.

William D. Clinton
OCALA, Fla. — William D. Clinton, 61, a retired superintendent of Tennessee Gas, died Tuesday, Jan. 12, 1999, at the Ocala Regional Medical Center, Ocala, Fla.

He was born on Sept. 26, 1937, in Cooperstown, to Kennington and Bessie Clinton.

Bill is survived by his wife of 38 years, Joyce Edwards Clinton of Ocala, Fla.; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Jeffery and Dawn Clinton of Cheyenne, Wyo., and James "Chip" Clinton of Buffalo; one daughter and son-in-law, Jacqueline and Brad Smith of Ocala, Fla.; seven very special grandchildren, Josh and Katie Smith of Ocala, Fla., Jessica and Nicky Clinton of Cheyenne, Wyo., and Glenn, Holly and Jack Murray of Buffalo; two brothers and three sisters-in-law, Douglas and Ann Clinton of Ocala, Fla. and Cooperstown, Donald Clinton of Arivaca, Ariz., Dorothy Clinton of Hartwick and Connie Clinton of Cooperstown; one uncle, Raymond Clinton of Cincinnatus, Pa.; plus many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by one brother, Robert A. Clinton of Hartwick.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Arthritis Foundation.

Cremation was handled by Roberts Funeral Home, Ocala, Fla.

Silverio Albano
GRAND GORGE — Silverio (Sam) Albano, 83, of Grand Gorge, died Wednesday, Jan. 13, 1999, in A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital, Oneonta.

He was born Aug. 26, 1915, in Italy, the son of Frank and Anna Albano.

He married Rose Scotti on Feb. 2, 1941, in New York City. She died July 31, 1989.

He served in the Army during World War II. He operated a dairy farm since, January 1960, in Grand Gorge, after moving from the Bronx.

Silverio is survived by two sons, Frank Albano of Stamford and Joseph Albano of Grand Gorge; five grandchildren; and one brother, Salvatore Albano of Italy.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 16, 1999, at 1 p.m. at the Miller Funeral Home, Roxbury, with the Very Rev. Robert H. Purcell officiating.

Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Stamford, in the spring.

Calling hours are Friday, Jan. 15, 1999, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Miller Funeral Home, Roxbury.

Contributions may be made in memory of Sam Albano to the Grand Gorge Fire Department or Grand Gorge Ambulance Fund.

Funeral arrangements are by the Miller Funeral Home, Roxbury.
