Kathryn A. Hall
OTEGO — Kathryn A. Hall, 81, formerly of Treadwell, died Monday, Dec. 28, 1998, at her residence in Otego.
She was born on Jan. 16, 1917, in Delhi, the daughter of Alex and Ursula (Clark) Anderson. She married Charles T. Hall on March 27, 1937, in Meredith Square. He died on Sept. 6, 1993.
Kate was a lifelong resident of Treadwell and was a member of the Treadwell United Methodist Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Ursula and Dan Wickham of Otego; her son, Roger A. Hall, and Cora Mueller of Delhi; grandchildren, Wayne Hall, Dawn Hall and her fiance, Chris James, Anita and James Devlin, Stephanie Cox, Roger Hall, Keith Wickham, Scott and Lisa Wickham, and Brenda and Michelle Waterman; and her four great-grandchildren, Devon and Geoffrey Cox, Katelyn Wickham and Kelsey Wickham. She is also survived by her cousins.
Kate was predeceased by her brother, Robert Anderson.
A service to celebrate the life of Kathryn A. Hall will be held on Thursday, Dec. 31, 1998, at noon, at the Kenneth L. Bennett Funeral Home, Franklin, with the Rev. Cannon Mark Cole, pastor of the St. James Episcopal Church, officiating. Burial will be in the spring in the Woodland Cemetery, Delhi.
There will be no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Catskill Area Hospice and Palliative Care Inc., the Treadwell Emergency Squad or the Treadwell United Methodist Church.
Arrangements are by the Kenneth L. Bennett Funeral Home, Franklin.
Charles John Moss
BAINBRIDGE — Charles J. Moss of 31 Juliand St., Bainbridge, went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, Dec. 29, 1998, at Wilson Memorial Hospital, Johnson City.
Mr. Moss was born on Nov. 24, 1919, in Hamden, the son of William T. and Mary (Bell) Moss. He married Phyllis Boyd in the Otego Baptist Church on May 11, 1947. They shared 51 years of marriage together.
Mr. Moss was a lifelong resident of the area and served in the United States Army during World War II.
He was retired from Smith-Corona in Cortland, where he worked many years. He was a member of the Sidney Assembly of God Church and the Bainbridge Senior Citizens.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis of Bainbridge; his daughters, Nancy Moss of Cortland, Judy Morrill of North Syracuse and Cathy Shaffer of Ashburnham, Mass.; his son, Charles Russell Moss of Cortland; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his brother, Robert Moss of Walton; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his sister, Eleanor Warner, and his brother, Edward Moss.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Jan. 1, 1999, at the Sidney Assembly of God Church on Plankenhorn Road. Burial will be in the spring at the Greenlawn Cemetery in Bainbridge.
The family will receive friends at The Joyce Funeral Home on Thursday, Dec. 31, 1998, from 4 to 7 p.m.
Those who wish may make contributions in memory of Mr. Moss to the Sidney Assembly of God Church, Box 594, Sidney, N.Y. 13838.

James A. Sweet
OXFORD — James A. Sweet Sr., 81, a resident of the New York State Veterans' Home, Oxford, and formerly of Ocala, Fla., died Tuesday, Dec. 29, 1998, at the Veterans' Home.
He was born on June 2, 1917, in Cooperstown, the son of Amos and Eva (Williams) Sweet.
He served in the United States Army during World War II. He was an electrician for New York state at Upstate Distribution in Schenectady. He was a pianist and also played the organ and guitar. He was an avid reader and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles.
He is survived by three daughters, Donna Baniewicz of Liverpool, Barbara Diotte of Fort Plain and Kathy Parslow of Milford; three sons, James Sweet Jr. of Santa Barbara, Calif., David Sweet of Owego and Mark Johnson of Ocala, Fla.; his brother, Herbert Sweet at the NYS Veterans' Home; his sisters, Virginia Hicks of Milford and Evelyn Shaw of Palm Harbor, Fla.; and his former wives, Louise Dewan of West Oneonta and Ann Mulhall of Ocala, Fla. Several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive.
He was predeceased by his brother Frank Sweet.
A memorial service will be held in the spring.

Marian Wlodarczyk
UNADILLA — Marian C. Wlodarczyk, 40, of Unadilla, died unexpectedly, Monday, Dec. 28, 1998.
He was born July 20, 1958, in Kielce, Poland, the son of Marian and Wladastawa Wlodarczyk.
He was married to Valerie A. Malhenzie, Sept. 19, 1987, in West Oneonta.
He has been an 8-year resident of Unadilla and was an employee of EMLO Corp. of Paterson, N.J.
He was a member of St. Mary's Church of Oneonta.
He is survived by his wife, Valerie A. Wlodarczyk of Unadilla; his daughters, Katherine, Jennifer, Christina, and Jacqueline Wlodarczyk of Unadilla; his mother, Wladastawa, of Poland; a sister, Lydia Bukoda of Poland; and a nephew, a niece and cousins.
A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary's Church in Oneonta. Burial will be later in Evergreen Hill Cemetery, Unadilla.
There will be no calling hours.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Church, Oneonta.
Funeral arrangements are by the Westcott Funeral Home, Unadilla.
Robert V. Olmstead
BINGHAMTON — Robert Vincent Olmstead died on Thursday, Dec. 3, 1998, at his home in Binghamton after a short illness.
He was born on July 2, 1937, in Cooperstown, the son of Walter E. and Mildred (Butler) Olmstead.
He graduated from Cooperstown Central School in 1955.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, JoAnn; three sons, Robert Jr., Mark and his wife, Laura, and Timothy; and a daughter, Rebecca. Two sisters also survive him, Wanda Olmstead Richards and her husband, William, and Joan Olmstead Larsen, both of Cooperstown; and a brother, LH "Dick" Olmstead and his wife, Beverly, of Chenango Bridge.
He leaves many loving nieces and nephews and several cousins.
He was predeceased by a sister, Jean, in 1991, and a brother, Walter, in 1992.
He was entombed in Vestal Hills Memorial Park on Dec. 7, 1998.
Bob will be sadly missed by his family and many friends.
Andrew Kuppens
DELHI — Andrew Kuppens, 89, of RD 1, Box 674, Route 10, Delhi, died Monday, Dec. 28, 1998, at the Delaware County Countryside Care Center of natural causes.
He was born Jan. 17, 1909, in Germany, the son of the late Katherine Ruprecht and Jacob Kuppens.
He was a retired self-employed farmer in Bennett Hollow in Franklin with his brother, Herman.
He is survived by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother, Herman, on Dec. 22, 1996, and two sisters, Frieda Meyer and Mary Kehr.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 31, 1998, at St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, Delhi, with the Rev. Joseph Manerowski, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Walton Cemetery, Walton.
Memorial contributions may be made to Parkinson's Disease.

Donald H. Collins
SOUTH KORTRIGHT — Mr. Donald H. Collins, 72, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 30, 1998, at his home.
He was born Nov. 2, 1926, in Barnerville, the son of Foster L. and Myra B. (Nethaway) Collins.
On June 25, 1950, he married Marian F. Alpaugh, who survives, in the United Methodist Church, Cherry Valley.
Mr. Collins was a sergeant in the U.S. Army serving from 1949-1955. He was a graduate of the Cobleskill Class of 1944.
He worked with the agricultural and dairy service most of his life. He was employed at the Glensfoot Dairy, Cherry Valley, for 26 years and most recently employed at Don's Dairy Supply, South Kortright.
Mr. Collins is survived by his wife, Marian A. Collins of South Kortright; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Wade D. Collins of Fort Worth, Texas, and Paul A. and Merrilee Collins of Fort Plain; a brother and sister-in-law, Arthur N. and Stephanie Collins of Lenox, Mass.; two grandchildren, Peggy K. Collins and Max J. Collins, both of Fort Plain.
He was predeceased by two sisters, Alma Drumm in 1993 and Janet MacPherson in 1998.
Cremation took place at the Leatherstocking Crematory Inc.
There will be a memorial service held on Saturday, Jan. 2, 1999, at 11 a.m. in the First Presbyterian Church, South Kortright with Mr. Lyman Johnson, officiating. Burial will take place in the Cherry Valley Cemetery at a later date.
Contributions in Mr. Collins' memory may be made to the Catskill Area Hospice.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ottman Funeral Home, Cherry Valley.
Ralph L. Edwards
BURLINGTON GREEN — Ralph L. Edwards, 83, of Burlington Green, died Wednesday, Dec. 30, 1998, at his home with his family at his side.
He was born Nov. 1, 1915, in New Berlin, the son of Wilbur and Lenora C. (Stockwell) Edwards.
He married India Rose DeWolfe on Sept. 24, 1939, in Columbus Quarters Church.
Ralph owned and operated his dairy farm on Highway 80 with his wife, India, until his retirement. He was a meticulous farmer with a perfect milk record. He was later employed by Scintilla and retired from there after 16 years. Ralph was a member of the First Baptist Church of Burlington Green and was also quite famous for his molasses cookies. He will be remembered as a kind and humble man with a big heart and for being the bestest grandpa.
He is survived by his wife, India; his children, David H. Edwards of Florida, Donna S. Fisher of Kansas, and Diane L. Johns of Albany; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and his brother and sister-in-law Leslie and Gladys Edwards of Cooperstown.
He was predeceased by his sister, Marion Rowe, and one grandchild.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, Jan. 1, 1998, at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Burlington Green with the Rev. John C. Young, officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ralph's memory to the American Cancer Society.
Arrangements are by the Houk-Johnston-Terry Funeral Home, Edmeston.
Madalyn D. McGill
SIDNEY CENTER — Madalyn D. McGill, 86, of Sidney Center, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 29, 1998, at The Hospital, Sidney.
She was born Jan. 19, 1912, to the late Oswill and Myra Coyne Chapman in Debruce.
Madalyn married John Joseph McGill. He predeceased her March 26, 1984.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and W.B. Ryon of Tabernacle, N.J., and Jane and Anthony Balunas of Sidney Center; two grandchildren, James Roach of Big Horn, Wyo., and Meghan Ryon of Tabernacle, N.J.; and two great-grandchildren, Baxter and Sean Roach of Big Horn, Wyo.
She was predeceased by a sister, JoAnn.
There will be no calling hours.
Funeral services will be held Dec. 31, 1998, at 4 p.m. from the C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney, with the Rev. Thomas E.C. Margrave, of St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Bainbridge, officiating.
Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Unadilla, in the spring.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Delaware Valley Humane Society, Sidney.
Arrangements are under the direction of C.H. Landers Inc., 21 Main St. Sidney.
