Annette Ordog
WORCESTER — Annette Ordog, 66, of Worcester died Friday, Nov. 20, 1998, at Eden Park Nursing Home in Cobleskill, after an extended illness.
She was born Jan. 2, 1932, in the Bronx, the daughter of Theodore and Minnie (Peiba) Newkirk.
She married Andrew Ordog on Sept. 27, 1953, in Palisades. Mrs. Ordog moved to Worcester in 1968.
She was an automotive bookkeeper for several downstate dealerships and also a bookkeeper for a chair factory in Haverstraw. Most recently she worked for the Cobleskill High School as the senior accounting clerk for 18 years, retiring in 1991.
She is survived by her husband, Andrew Ordog of Worcester; a daughter, Aileen Lawton of Schoharie; a son, Andrew C. Lawton of Schenectady; a grandson, Kobey Lawton; a sister, Caroline Decrescenzo of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a brother, Robert Newkirk.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 24, 1998, at the E.J. Skinner Co. Funeral Chapel, Worcester. The Rev. Alan Miller, pastor of the First Christian Church in South Valley will officiate. Burial will follow at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Worcester.
Calling hours will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral chapel.

Homer Pier
MILFORD — Mr. Homer Pier, 85, of Milford went to be with his Lord on Friday, Nov. 20, 1998, at the Meadows.
Homer was born in Middlefield on Nov. 4, 1913, a son of Vernon and Gertrude (Hanes) Pier.
After attending high school in Cooperstown, Homer married his wife of 65 years, Cecile Beaudin, on Oct. 7, 1933. They have remained in the Milford area since then.
Mr. Pier was a tree surgeon and operated and owned the Conservationist Tree Company for many years.
Homer was a member of the Milford Fire Department for many years and spent a short time on the emergency squad. He was also the village water commissioner.
Homer was one of the original Milford Macs playing for Dean Winsor. He was also an avid gardener and bowler and was a trapper for the state DEC.
Mr. Pier (the oldest of five generations) is survived by is loving wife, Cecile; two daughters and sons-in-law, Loretta and Dick Thompson of Milford and Glenda and Robert Moore of Milford; a son and daughter-in-law, Ronand and Pamela Pier of Milford; a brother-in-law and his wife, Dale and Joyce Beaudin of Lake Wales, Fla.; a sister, Ethel Shaw of Fly Creek; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by one son, Roger Pier, in 1995.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 25, 1998, at 7 p.m. at the Milford United Methodist Church in Milford with the Rev. Nancy Kozlowski pastor of the Milford United Methodist Church, officiating.
In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make contributions in Homer's name to Catskill Area Hospice and Palliative Care Inc. at 542 Main St., Oneonta, N.Y. 13820 or to the Activity Fund at the Meadows at 140 County Highway, 33 W., Cooperstown, N.Y. 13326.

Grace Eleanor Slocum
ONEONTA — Miss Grace Eleanor Slocum, of 5 Pearl Street, Oneonta, died Saturday evening, November 21, 1998, at her residence after a lengthy illness.
She was born to R Lena and Raymond Grant Slocum, October 7, 1911, on Spring Street, Oneonta, New York.
The family lived a short time in Schenectady, New York, where her brother, Howard G. Slocum, was born. They returned to Oneonta where Grace attended Chestnut Street School and the Oneonta High School. She was a member of the Second Graduating Class of Hartwick College (1938), taught commercial and business subjects in Gilbertsville Central School from 1933 to 1940, taught the same subjects in Mount Kisco, New York, and then returned to Oneonta.
She was employed as a bookkeeper at Elmore Milling Co., Oneonta, for many years and was a secretary to Henry Hulbert in his Franklin, New York, office. She obtained a position in the Purchasing Department at State University College, Oneonta, from which she retired in the early 1970s.
She was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church of the Atonement, Oneonta, the Eastern Star, the Amaranth, and SUCO Golden Alumni Club. She served as a Musician for the Eastern Star for a period of time. She enjoyed traveling, photography, cards, sports (especially baseball), books, crossword puzzles, music, and sang in the church choir.
Grace is survived by her brother, Howard G. Slocum, Oneonta, and his wife, Helen C. Slocum and a niece, Ann L. Slocum, Norwich. Other relatives include Mrs. Ralph Case, Albion, Michigan, and Mrs. Ruth Carver Fischer residing in the Philadelphia area, and many close friends.
Grace was predeceased by her mother, R Lena, who died on July 15, 1975, and her father, Raymond Grant, in 1923.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, November 24, 1998 at 2:00 p.m. at the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main Street, Oneonta. The Reverend Joseph Fiske, Retired Methodist Minister will officiate. Burial will be in the Oneonta Plains Cemetery, Oneonta. The family will be in attendance on Monday, November 23, 1998 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main Street, for those who wish may call.
It has been requested that in lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be made to either the Lutheran Church of the Atonement, 1 Center Street, Oneonta, New York, 13820 or to Catskill Area Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc. 542 Main Street, Oneonta, New York 13820, or Hartwick College, West Street, Oneonta, New York 13820 in loving memory of Grace Eleanor Slocum.

William H. Anteman
EAST WORCESTER — William H. Anteman, 88, of East Worcester, died Sunday, Nov. 22, 1998, at his residence.
He was born Nov. 20, 1910, in Cresskill, N.J., a son of Robert and Hermania (Plumeyer) Anteman.
Mr. Anteman married Helen Hill in Schenevus on June 27, 1937. He was predeceased by his loving wife of over 60 years in March 1998.
He was an East Worcester area resident since 1934. Mr. Anteman owned and operated Anteman's Garage in East Worcester for 40 years. Bill was a past chief of the East Worcester Fire Department and past commissioner of the East Worcester Fire District. He was also a past president of the Otsego County Fireman's Association and a member of the Otsego County Fireman's Advisory Board and charter member of the East Worcester Fish and Game Club.
He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Larry W. and Pennie Anteman of East Worcester; two daughters and one son-in-law, Joanne E. and Nellis Duesler of East Worcester and Betty Hill of Boynton Beach, Fla.; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one cousin, Ferenand Anteman, and his wife, Betty; and several nieces and nephews.
Bill was predeceased by three brothers, Robert, Herman and Wilbur Anteman.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 25, 1998, at the E.J. Skinner Co. Funeral Chapel, 115 Main St., Worcester, with the Rev. George I. Goodwin Sr., retired, officiating. Interment will follow at the East Worcester Cemetery in East Worcester. Calling hours will be Tuesday, Nov. 24, 1998, from 6 to 9 p.m. A remembrance service will be held at 8 p.m. by the East Worcester Fire Department at the funeral chapel.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Helen and William Anteman Memorial Scholarship Fund, care of Worcester Central School, 182 Main St., Worcester, N.Y. 12197.

Germaine E. Longin
STAMFORD — Germaine E. Longin, 92, of Stamford, died Sunday morning, Nov. 22, 1998, at the home of her son in Crompond, Westchester County, where she had been staying for the past three weeks.
She was born June 1, 1906, in Lyons, France, the daughter of Pierre and Marie (Gagnieu) Venet.
She spent her early life in France and came to New York at the time of her marriage in 1934, to Gean Z. Longin. Mr. Longin died several years ago.
A 61-year Stamford resident, in earlier years she was employed as a nurse's aide at the Stamford Nursing Home, later at Audio Sears on the assembly line and subsequently as a librarian at the Stamford Village Library, until her retirement four years ago.
During World War II, she received citations from the American Red Cross for her volunteer work and also by President Harry S. Truman for work as an airplane spotter during the war.
For several years she also wrote book reviews for the Stamford Mirror Recorder. She also traveled to England and main-land Europe, when in her late 70s, and to the Soviet Union at the age of 80.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Gilbert and Lois Longin of Crompond; two grandsons, Gregory Longin of Tarrytown and Edward Longin of Croton; a granddaughter, Pamela Vela of New Windsor; and one great-grandson, Michael.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 27, 1998, at the Hall Funeral Home, Stamford, with the Rev. Stephen Herring, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, officiating.
There are no calling hours.
The family will receive friends at a reception following the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Stamford Village Library.

Ruth L. Thornton
BURLINGTON — Ruth L. Thornton, 86, of Burlington Green, died Monday, Nov. 23, 1998, at her home with her family at her side.
She was born Dec. 11, 1911, in Union Hill, N.J., the daughter of Richard W. and Hazel Belle M. (Weber) Dietrich.
She married John Thornton in 1930, George Winnie in 1987, and Clarence Barrows in 1993. She was predeceased by all three husbands.
Ruth had been an area resident for close to 30 years and enjoyed serving the community in her own quiet way. She had been previously employed as a librarian at the Paramus Public Library, Paramus, N.J., from which she retired.
She is survived by her half sister; her sisters-in-law; several stepchildren; stepgrandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 25, 1998, at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Burlington with the Rev. John Young officiating. Calling hours are Tuesday, Nov. 24, 1998, from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Houk-Johnston-Terry Funeral Home, Edmeston.
Interment will be on Friday, Nov. 27, 1998, at the George Washington Memorial Park, in Paramus, N.J.
Ruth requested that live plants that may be taken home and planted in her memory, be used instead of traditional floral arrangements.

Carole A. Fiddia
OCALA, Fla. — Carole A. Fiddia (formerly Carole A. Barney), 56, of 1541 NE 38th St., Ocala, Fla., died Thursday, Nov. 19, 1998, in Ocala, Fla., after a lengthy illness.
She was born Aug. 19, 1942, in Walton, the daughter of Regina Yager and the late Melvin Cummings.
She married Elmer J. Fiddia on Feb. 20, 1991.
Carole was very involved in Boy Scouts as a den mother as the children were growing up and was a homemaker. In 1981, she moved to Ocala, Fla., where she worked as a part-time bookkeeper and a waitress. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, Elmer, her son and grandson, to the motocross races throughout the past three years. She was an avid NASCAR fan.
She was loved by many friends and family and will be missed dearly.
She is survived by her husband, Elmer J. Fiddia of Ocala, Fla.; her three sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Janelle Barney of Erie, Pa., Shawn Barney of Binghamton and Wade and Sue Barney of West Laurens; her mother, Regina Yager of Ocala, Fla.; a stepmother, Eve Cummings of East Meredith; and her brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Sheri Cummings of East Meredith; and six grandchildren, Justin and Brooke Barney, Amanda and Jonathan Barney, and Barbara Jean and Robert Barney.
A memorial service will be held at the American Legion in Laurens at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 29, 1998, with the Rev. Judy Thistle officiating.
Burial will be in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Fla.
There will be no calling hours.

William Young Sr.
MORRIS — William Howard Young Sr., 77, of Morris, died Tuesday, Nov. 24, 1998, at A.O. Fox Hospital in Oneonta.
He was born May 1, 1921, in Springfield, the son of William W. Young Jr. and Martha (Skinion) Young.
He married Betty Diamond on Jan. 16, 1949, in Cherry Valley.
He was a dairy farmer for all of his life and in his younger years he had also worked for the Otsego County Highway Department.
He is survived by his wife, Betty; his children, Bill Young Jr. of Utica, Dale Young of Unadilla, Kevan Young of Morris, Debbie Temmermand and her husband, Brian, of Apex, N.C., Becky Cleveland of Lincoln Park, N.J., Connie Young and friend David Reid of Franklin, and Cindy Young of Morris; his sisters, Laura Benjamin of New Berlin, Marjorie Buddle of Richfield Springs, Thelma Stocking of North Tonawanda; his brothers, Laverne Young and his wife, Lorraine, of Cherry Valley, Kenneth Young and his wife, June, of Westville, Leonard Young and his wife, Roberta, of Richfield Springs; his grandchildren include John and Steven Stepp, Sherri and Aaron Cleveland, and Kimberly, Rachael, Jeffery and Melissa Young; one great-grandson, Tanner Stephens; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be Friday, Nov. 27, 1998, at 1 p.m. at the Johnston Funeral Home in Morris with the Rev. Wilfred Lyon officiating. Calling hours will be from noon until service time at 1 p.m. on Friday.

Fiovanti Davino
DELHI — Fiovanti Arthur Davino, 94, a frequent visitor to Delhi and former longtime Brooklyn resident, died Monday afternoon, Nov. 23, 1998, at Robinson Terrace, Stamford.
He was born Nov. 3, 1904, in Providence, R.I., the son of Antonio and Rosa (Bocci) Davino, who were natives of Italy.
He later moved to Brooklyn where he married Rose E. Mastrocola. Mrs. Davino died in 1989.
A World War II United States Army veteran, Mr. Davino spent most of his life in Brooklyn, where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was employed for more than 30 years with the New York City Transit Authority, retiring as an assistant supervisor in 1965. As his health declined, he moved to Delaware County in 1991, to be near his son in Delhi, and resided at the Maplehurst Adult Home and subsequently, for 3 1/2 years, at Robinson Terrace in Stamford.
Surviving are two sons, Alan J. and his wife, Kathryn Davino, of Delhi and Arthur A. Davino of Chicago; as well as three grandchildren, Mark, Danielle and Cassandra Davino; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by six sisters and two brothers.
Friends are invited to call on Thursday, Nov. 26, at the Hall & Peet Funeral Home, Delhi, where the family will be in attendance on Friday after 12:30 p.m. and funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Stephen Herring, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, Stamford, and burial will follow in the Woodland Cemetery, Delhi.
Arrangements are entrusted to Robert A. Peet, Delhi.
