Theodore F. Staves
Theodore F. Staves, 72, of River Road, Tupper Lake, died Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at CVPH in Plattsburgh. Born January 25, 1936 in Old Forge, he was the son of Theodore and Mary (McDonnald) Staves. A graduate of Tupper Lake High School, Ted was an electrician with Local IBEW for 48 years. He retired in 1998. Ted was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying fishing and hunting. He was a member of the Cold Springs, Nomis and Buck Horn hunting clubs. He also was a member of the Tupper Lake Volunteer Fire Dept for over 25 years serving as Asst. Chief and was a member of Company 5 retired members. He is survived by his wife Pauline, one daughter, Debbie Lowdnes of Lake Clear, three sons, Tom and his wife Cindy of Tupper Lake, Steve of Central Square, Jeff and his life partner Brandy Smith of Brushton, 7 grandchildren 2 great-grandchildren, one stepdaughter Christy Faison and her husband Tony of Ballston Lake, 3 step grandchildren, two sisters, Judy Burgdorf and her husband Jim of Williamson, NY, Cindy Bailey and her husband Robin of Waterford, NY, one brother Jim Staves of Oswego. He was pre-deceased by a sister Ellen Sochia. Calling hours will be held on Friday, December 19 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at the Stuart-Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Tupper Lake. A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider the Tupper Lake Volunteer Fire dept.
Hoover C. Barney
Hoover C. Barney, 79, of Balsam Street, Lake Placid, NY passed away Friday, December 12, 2008 at his home. He was born in Saranac Lake, NY May 11, 1929 the son of Alfred and Mazie (Patterson) Barney. Hoover attended Lake Placid High School and went on to serve his country in the United States Army from 1948 to 1954. Hoover was a Veteran of the Korean War. He married Joyce M. Bowen September 25, 1954 in St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Saranac Lake, NY. Mr. Barney had worked in Lake Placid for the Lake Placid Village Electric Department for over 37 years retiring in 1991 as Line Foreman. Hoover was a dedicated volunteer and was an instrumental part in the formation of the Lake Placid Volunteer Ambulance Service. He served as Volunteer Ambulance Driver for over 22 years. Hoover had a great sense of humor and was always ready to tell or hear a good joke. He is survived by his wife Joyce (Bowen) Barney of Lake Placid, NY; Three daughters, Cheryl Perry and her husband Steve of Greene, ME, Debbie Catlin and her husband Mark of Schenectady, NY and Theresa Bimonte and her husband Matt of Lake Placid, NY. He is also survived by three sons, Brian Barney and his wife Julie of Lake Placid, NY, Jason Barney and his wife Amy of Lake Placid, NY and Dana Barney of Lake Placid, NY; One brother Wayne Barney and his wife Vicki of Lake Placid, NY, and one sister Bessie Marrs of Lake Placid, NY. Several nieces and nephews and cousins also survive. Three brothers, Calvin, Alfred and Jean and one sister Louise all died earlier. Calling hours will be held Friday, December 19th from 5 to 7pm at the Clark Funeral Home in Lake Placid. A Funeral Service will follow at 7pm at the funeral home. Rev. Patrick O'Reilly will officiate. Burial will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. Robert E. Boon
Robert E. Boon, age 61, of 657 State Route 3, Saranac Lake, died Thursday, December 11, 2008 at his home following a short illness.
Born in Saranac Lake, New York on April 26, 1947 he was the son of Herbert and Lina (Marzano) Boon.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving during the Vietnam Era and was awarded the Purple Heart.
"Boon" had owned, operated and worked as an independent truck driver for many years. He was an active member of the Saranac Lake Volunteer Fire Department since 1965 where he served as Past Rescue Chief: he was a member of the Plumber/Steam Fitters Union: the Veteran of Foreign Wars Association; American Legion: Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association; and the Moose Lodge. He was an avid NASCAR fan and Mustang enthusiast.
He is survived by his life partner Martha Montagnola, his mother Lina Boon of Bloomingdale, NY; three sons Patrick of Loudon, NH; David of Carry, NC and Jonathan of Seattle, WA; one daughter Monica Yeardon of Oswego, NY; one brother Michael Boon of Saranac Lake, NY; one sister Linda Sawyer of Oswego, NY, and 8 Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father Herbert Boon.
Calling hours will take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home on Sunday, December 14, 2008 from 1:00 PM -4:00 PM. A Fireman’s Prayer Service will take place at 4:00 PM on Sunday afternoon immediately followed by a Veterans Prayer Service. A funeral service will take place at 4:15 PM on Sunday at the Fortune - Keough Funeral Home, Inc, with Rev. Thomas Kornmeyer officiating. Following cremation burial will take place at St. Paul's Cemetery in Bloomingdale, NY.

George Henry Cronk
George Henry Cronk of Park Place, Lake Placid, died at Adirondack Medical Center, Saranac Lake, on the eighth day of December, 2008.
Mr. Cronk was born Janurary 2, 1943 in Baltimore Maryland as the son and only child of Kenneth S. Cronk and Laura Munson Cronk. His mother died November 14, 1983 and his father died June 24 1992. Both parents were longtime residents of the Olympic Village, enjoying all those decades here from the third to the fourteenth Winter Olympic Games, except for the displacement during World War II, accounting for their son's birth in Baltimore.
George was likely the youngest and likely the brightest graduate in the Lake Placid High School Class of 1960; he enjoyed the Methodist Youth Fellowship; he attended DeVries Technical College in Chicago to obtain a degree in electronics; and he is very well-known as a career-long United States postman and letter-carrier throughout North Elba. In late years of semi-retirement, George was a games-keeper on the Rockefeller Estate, a Snowsports School Instructor at Whiteface Mountain, a grounds-man at St. Agnes Cemetery, and a summer agent at High Falls Gorge in Wilmington Notch.
George was twice-married, and father of two children by his first wife, Donna Daniels, who still thrives. George is survived by his son George Henry Cronk, Jr., and family of Orlando, Florida: George Jr.'s wife Erika In Cronk; granddaughter, Chandra Cronk (18); and grandson, Preston Cronk (15). George's daughter, Deanna Cronk, died in an auto-traffic tragedy, at age 13, circa 1980.
George was an accomplished woodsman, hunter, Adirondack 46er, XC and alpine skier, and had recently purchased a large motorcycle, and stacked six cords of firewood for the oncoming winter. George had a passion for animal-raising and gardening: He raised laying hens and fryers at the Old Peacock Farm on Bear Cub, and he had a houseful of African Violets, amongst other things. George's only known enemy is a certain Park Drive mutt, who wanted to sink his canines into George's thigh for a second bite of the old postman. George was made in a special mid-20th century mould defined perhaps best by Jack Kerouac's ON THE ROAD and James Dean's REBEL WITHOUT A CAUSE. But George needed no literary template as his attitudes and life defined what became known as "The 1960s" before there were any 1960s. George was magnetic-he either strongly attracted or repelled. Those with the metal to be attracted were energized by the vibes of meekness and wildness that he radiated to all within his sphere. His special God-given talent was to exude a non-judgmental joy of life and humanity. He has that "quality" which Robert Pirsig identified in his ZEN AND THE ART OF MOTORCYCLE MAINTENANCE as lying neither in the objective nor the subjective but which is the essence of life, of experience.
Calling hours prior to burial are at the M.B Clark Funeral Home, Lake Placid, Friday, December 12th, from 4 to 7pm. The funeral service, with Reverend Mark Demers of The Adirondack Community Church officiating, will be at the Funeral Home immediately following the calling hours at 7pm on Friday. Charles E. Hare Jr
Charles E. Hare Jr., 87, of Cascade Rd., Lake Placid, NY passed away Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at AMC Uihlein in Lake Placid. He was born in Lake Placid, NY December 20, 1920 the son of Charles E. and Tressa (Lamoy) Hare. Mr. Hare was a Veteran of the United States Army serving in World War II and a member of the National American Legion. He had worked in Lake Placid for the Village of Lake Placid Water Dept. Retiring in 1976 as Supervisor of the water department. He is survived by his wife Irene (Senecal) Hare of Lake Placid, NY; three sons, Stephan Hare of Chaumont, NY, Allan Hare of East Greenbush, NY and Charles Hare III of Troy, NY; one brother, Donald Hare of Lake Placid, NY and three grandchildren, Jeffery Hare, Scott Hare, and Craig Hare. His brother Walter Hare and two sisters, Catherine Nason and Ada Hare died earlier. There are no calling hours. Services will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. The Clark Funeral Home in Lake Placid is in charge of arrangements.
Hubert Cortez Avery
Hubert Cortez Avery, age 90, formerly of 14 Kiwassa Rd. Saranac Lake, NY died Monday, December 08, 2008 at the AMC-Mercy Health Care Facility in Tupper Lake.
Born in Westville, New York on December 05, 1918, he was the son of Herman and Ella (Hoadley) Avery. He married Esther Tracy on October 10, 1964 in Hallstead, PA. She predeceased him in 2001.
Mr. Avery graduated from Franklin Academy in Malone on June 22, 1937. Mr. Avery is a veteran ofWWll serving in the United States Navy from 1942 to 1946. He worked at ALCOA in Massena. He worked for a few years in Rochester and Syracuse and lived for many years in Lake Placid. He was a school bus driver for the Saranac Lake Central School District for eight years until his retirement in 1978. Mr. Avery enjoyed golf and fishing. Hubert was most happy during his more than 61 years involved in the Christian Ministry.
Hubert is survived by one sister Elsa Reynolds and her husband Carl of Westville, NY, and one brother Eldred Avery and his wife Myrtle of Syracuse, NY and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, mother and four brothers, Wayne, Wesley, Ralph and Charles and one sister, Marion.
Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. A memorial service will be take place at 2:00 PM on Saturday December 13, 2008 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Saranac Lake. Burial will take place at the Coal Hill Cemetery in Westville at the convenience of the family.

Joseph William Keith
Joseph William Keith, age 83, of 8168 State Route 3, Vermontville, NY died Tuesday, December 09, 2008 at Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.
Born in Vermontville, New York on March 15, 1925, he was the son of Elmore and Mary (Dyer) Keith. He married Emma Lee Goff November 24, 1955 in St. Paul's Church Bloomingdale. She predeceased him on March 2, 2000.
Mr. Keith was a graduate of the Saranac Lake High School System; he entered Army Air Forces in 1943. While in the service he was stationed at many places including, New York, New Jersey, Florida, Colorado, and Pennsylvania. He received his Refrigeration Degree from the University of Pittsburgh; he flew planes, was a plane mechanic and flew into hurricanes. He also worked in an ammunition plant, Bombsight Mechanic, received the American Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and World War II Victory Medal. He was honorably discharged in 1946 as a Corporal. He owned and operated Music/TV/Appliance Stores in Bloomingdale and Saranac Lake. He worked for Norman's Store in Bloomingdale for many years. He later worked for the American Management Association from 1977 to 1989 until his retirement. He also worked as a Caretaker of many camps in Loon Lake, Onchiota, Franklin Falls and Wilmington. He especially loved his own family's camp in the woods in Vermontville.
He is survived by his son Bryan Keith of Vermontville, NY, his daughter LuAnne Riley & husband Tim of Harrietstown, NY, his daughter Teresa Moore and husband John of Old Town, FL, his sister Sr. Charlotte Keith of Lake Placid, NY, his granddaughter Janelle McCormick and husband Jeff of Vermontville, NY, his grandson Wade Holtz of Saranac Lake, NY, and his granddaughter Tiffiny Holtz of Saranac Lake, NY. He was preceded in death by his wife Emma Lee Goff Keith, his father Elmore Keith, his mother Mary Dyer Keith, his brother Patrick Keith, two infant sisters Catherine and Anna Keith and his son-in-law Michael Holtz.

Gilbert W. Sheffield
Gilbert W. Sheffield, 85, of Greenwood Street, Lake Placid, NY passed away December 5, 2008 at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake, NY. He was born in Black Brook, NY May 27, 1923. Gilbert was the son of Ethel (Derouchie) Sheffield and William Jewtraw. He was a graduate of Lake Placid High School, Class of 1942. He married Martha Goodman, she died in Saranac Lake, NY June 19, 2003. Mr. Sheffield had worked in the Transportation Department for the Lake Placid Central School District. He transported children to and from school, he also bussed the Lake Placid High School Athletic Teams on many trips and safely home again. He is survived by one son, Richard Sheffield of Lake Placid, NY; two grandson's, Scott Sheffield and his wife Denise of Orlando, FL and Bryon Sheffield and his wife Jennifer of Orlando, FL; one granddaughter, Erin Sheffield of Land-O'Lakes, FL. He is also survived by six great grandchildren, Catherine Sheffield, Emmaline Sheffield, Hunter Sheffield, Parker Sheffield, Connor Sheffield, and Dalton Mansfield all of Orlando, FL. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Calling hours were Monday, December 8th from 5pm to 8pm at the Clark Funeral Home in Lake Placid, NY. A Bible Vigil Prayer Service will be held Monday evening at 7:45pm at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held December 9th at 10am at the Clark Funeral Home in Lake Placid, NY. Rev. Bessie Elizabeth Flagg
Bessie Elizabeth Flagg, 90, of Riverside Drive, Lake Placid, NY passed away Sunday, December 7, 2008 at AMC Uihlein where she had been a resident since June 2001. She was born in Harkness, NY January 20, 1918 the daughter of William and Genevieve (Pelkey) Jewtraw. She was the wife of Moreland Flagg. She had worked at Troy Laundry in Saranac Lake, NY and was an active member of the Green Thumb Organization in Saranac Lake, NY. Mrs. Flagg is survived by Leo Jewtraw and family of Lake Placid, NY and Glenn Flagg and family of Tupper Lake, NY. She is also survived by a half sister, Mary Willard of Syracuse, NY. Her parents, husband, and her daughter Patricia Ethel Forshine of Brooklyn, NY died earlier. Calling hours will be held Tuesday, December 9th from 1pm to 2pm at the Reiss Memorial Chapel at Uihlein Mercy Center in Lake Placid. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 2pm. Donne C. Dillon
Donne C. Dillon, 77 of Greenwood Street, Lake Placid, NY passed away Monday, December 8, 2008 at the Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake, NY. She was born in St. Regis Falls, NY January 6, 1931 the daughter of John P. Dillon and Martha Aust. She was a graduate of Lake Placid High School and worked in Lake Placid for several years at Fagan's Motel and the Golden Arrow. She was a supporter and volunteer for Pet Care of Lake Placid, collecting Pet Care donation canisters with her mother Martha Aust for several years. She is survived by 5 cousins, Kristine Dower, Michael Smith, Brenda Smith, Lisa Smith, and Melody Carlin. Calling hours will be held Friday December 12th from 10AM to 12 Noon at the funeral home. Margarette LaMoy
Margarette LaMoy, 90, of Tupper Lake, passed away, Monday, December 8, 2008 at the home of her daughter’s Patty where she had resided since September. Born on July 13, 1918 in Norfolk, NY, she was the daughter of Pearley and Charlotte (Quigley) Leonard. She was a graduate of Tupper Lake High class of 1937. On October 12, 1939, she married Gerald Hazen with whom she had five children. He died in 1958. She was employed by Corning Glassworks in Corning, NY from 1942 until 1958. After the death of her husband, she packed up her five children and returned to Tupper Lake where she was employed at Sunmount VA Hospital and later Sunmount DDSO. She was forced to retire in 1980 after a serious injury. During her VA days, she gave birth to another child. On September 21, 1969, she married Paul LaMoy in Tupper Lake. Paul died on December 10, 2000. Margarette loved baking and gardening and at the age of 90, still grew and canned her own vegetables. She had a green thumb and could grow the most beautiful flowers all around her house and yard. She enjoyed anytime she could spend with her family and best friend “Tibby”. Margarette is survived by two brothers, Edward and Francis Leonard, both of Tupper Lake, one sister Ruth Kenny of Massachusetts, a daughter and favorite son-in-law, Dora Eccleston and her husband Earl of Addison, NY, a daughter Patricia Breault of Tupper Lake and a son Thomas Hazen and his wife Giselle of Oklahoma. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandaughter. She was pre-deceased by her husbands, Gerald and Paul, daughter Suzanne Clement, son and daughter-in-law Frank and Jen Hazen, a son Michael Hazen and a grandson Lee Eccleston. One sister Cecilia Pendland and brothers George, John and Edgar. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, December 10 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at the Stuart-Fortune-Keough Funeral home in Tupper Lake. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, December 11 at 11:00 a.m at St. Alphonsus church. Burial will be in St. Mary’s cemetery in Corning on Friday at 1pm. Philip A. Darrah
Philip A. Darrah, age 77, of 9 Marshall Street, Saranac Lake, died Friday, December 05, 2008 at the Adirondack Medical Center of Saranac Lake.
Born in Saranac Lake, New York on April 02, 1931, he was the son of John and Ila (Hall) Darrah. He married Grace "Charley" Poole on October 23, 1971 in First United Methodist Church in Saranac Lake.
Mr. Darrah lived in Syracuse, New York for 18 years where he had worked in sheet metal. He retuned to Saranac Lake in 1970 and had worked as a carpenter for various area businesses and families.
He is survived by his wife Grace "Charley" Darrah of Saranac Lake, three sons David Darrah of North Carolina, Freddie Darrah of North Carolina, and Peter Darrah of Queensbury, NY, one sister Barbara Darrah of Saranac Lake, NY, and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, two sons Russell and John Darrah, one daughter Wendy Darrah, two brothers Donald and James Darrah, and four sisters Helen Pond, Marion Darrah, Norma Stevens, and Muriel Waterstraat.
Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. A graveside service will take place on Thursday December 11, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. at Pine Ridge Cemetery in Saranac Lake, with Rev. Maggie McCarey officiating.

JOSEPH C. TROMBLEY
Joseph "Charlie" Trombley, 80, of Washington Street, Tupper Lake, died Thursday, April 3, 2003 at the Adirondack Medical Center with family care and High Peaks Hospice
Born May 25, 1922 in Tupper Lake, he was the son of Albert William and Regina Mary Corrow Trombley and was raised in the Junction on Lafayette Street.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary, four sons and their wives: Charles and Carmen Trombley of Guilderland, NY, Nelson and Laura Trombley of Clairmont, CA, Bernard and Barbara Trombley of Wilmington, NC and Michael and Melody Trombley of Tupper Lake, one daughter: Catherine and her husband Robert Fox of Yuma, AZ, two brothers: Percy and his wife Lorraine Trombley of Tupper Lake and Robert Trombley of Utica, NY, five sisters: Elizabeth Grucelski of Pittsfield, MA, Rita Pentlen of Chittanango, NY, Nita St. Onge and Theresa and her husband Jack Riley of Tupper Lake, Bernadette LaBarge of Willis, TX, and Florence Bressette of Attica, NY, 11 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his son, Glenn, in 1993 and one sister, Dora Mae Hayes and a brother, Louis Trombley.
Calling hours for Mr. Trombley will be held Friday, April 4, at the Richer Funeral Home from 4pm to 7pm.
A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday at 11am at Holy Name Church with Father Donald Kramberg officiating. Burial, with full military honors, will be held Saturday, May 3, at Holy Name Cemetery.

PALMYRA (PENNY) ANNE RANSOM WOOD
Palmyra Anne Ransom Wood of 28 Seneca Drive, Plattsburgh, NY died Friday, April 18, 2003 at Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital, Plattsburgh, NY. She was born at the family home on the Upper Franklin Falls Road, Bloomingdale, NY on October 2, 1930, the daughter of Stephen Francis and Frances Loretta (Plumley) Ransom.
She married John Edward Wood on February 16, 1954 at St. Paul's Church in Bloomingdale. Her husband died November 12, 1978.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law: Frances and Dave Beauharnois of Mountain View, California, her daughter: Linda O'Neil of Lisbon, Connecticut, her daughter: Heather Van Valkenburgh of Plattsburgh, NY and her daughter and son-in-law: Tracey and Jim Gallagher of Adams, Massachusetts, as well as five grandchildren: Jason, Danielle, Andrea, Jeffery and Breeanne, and a great-granddaughter Magenta.
She is also survived by her sisters: Ida Ransom of West Thompson, Connecticut and Susan Ransom Zadroga of Winchendon, Massachusetts, her sisters-in-law: Margaret Theresa Ransom of Saranac Lake, NY and Betty Wood Columbe of Bloomingdale, NY and numerous nieces and nephews. Her sister, Erika Ransom Duso of Elizabethtown, NY, and her brother Stephen Francis Ransom of Saranac Lake, NY, predeceased her.
Calling hours will be held Monday, April 21, from 2-4 and 7-9 at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home, 40 Church Street, Saranac Lake. A Bible Vigil Service will take place Monday at 3:45pm and a Veterans Service will take place Monday at 7:30pm at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Bloomingdale on Tuesday at 11:15am. Internment will follow at St. Paul's Cemetery in Bloomingdale.

WILLIAM HARRISON LAWRENCE
William (Bill) Harrison Lawrence, 76, formally of Lake Placid and a resident of Apalachin, NY, died at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Nicholas Ezzo on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2003.
Bill was born in Wilmington, NY on July 1, 1926, the son of William and Florence (Sanders) Lawrence.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Janice (Ridion) Lawrence, three daughters, two sons and their spouses: Cathy Ann Ezzo and her husband Nicholas of Vestal, NY, Susan Emily Curtis and her husband Chris of Estero, FL, Joan Elizabeth Meyers and her husband David of Bluff City, TN, William Hugh Lawrence and his wife Jean of Bethal, OH, and Robert James Lawrence and his wife Karen of Fort Meyers, FL. He is also survived by one brother: Gordon of Camillus, NY and two sisters: Mable of Broken Arrow, OK and Martha of Bluff City, TN. Bill had five grandchildren: Christina Hitchcock, Nichole Ezzo, Kayla Lawrence, Andrew Meyers and Tracy Griffin and one great-granddaughter: Maura Jane Griffin. Two brothers, Irving and Jasper Lawrence, and two sisters, Jennie and Phoebe, all died earlier.
Friends may call at the Clark Funeral Home in Lake Placid on Wednesday, April 23, from 2-4 and 7-9pm. There will be an American Legion Prayer Service on Wednesday at 7:30pm. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 24, at 10am at the Adirondack Community Church in Lake Placid. Reverend Mark Demers, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in the North Elba Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lourdes Hospice, c/o Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, 169 Riverside Drive, Binghamton, NY 13905.
PAUL JOSEPH REANDEAU
Paul Joseph Reandeau, 56, of 9 Lake Street, Piercefield, died Friday, April 25, 203 at Fletcher Allen, Burlington following a long illness.
Born on November 27, 1946 in Tupper Lake, he was the son of Alexander and Alice (Simons) Reandeau.
He is survived by his mother: Alice Reandeau of Tupper Lake, his wife of 35 years: Patricia, one daughter: Paula Sheldon of Piercefield, two granddaughters: Amber and Katie, two brothers: Clyde and Floyd of Tupper Lake, three sisters: Linda Desharnais of Tupper Lake, Elaine Mitchell of Orange, Mass., Sadie Spada of Tupper Lake and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father and a nephew Chad Mitchell.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, April 27, from 6pm to 9pm with a Masons service at 7pm and then on Wednesday from 2pm to 3pm at the Fortune-Keough-Rennell Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 4pm at Holy Name Church. Burial will follow in St. Alphonsus Cemetery. Those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider the Tupper Lake Volunteer Rescue Squad or the Mount Arab Lodge #847.
AMELIA MCNICHOL
Amelia McNichol, 98, formally of 30 Greenwood Street, passed away Friday, April 18, at the Uihlein Mercy Center where she had been a resident since June of 1997. Mrs. McNichol had been a resident of Lake Placid since 1984. She was born in Pittsburg, Kansas on September 14, 1904, the daughter of George and Johanna (O'Korn) Pozun.
Mrs. McNichol is survived by three sons: Edward and his wife Beverly, George and his wife Alice, both of Connecticut, and Robert and his wife Bernadette of New Hampshire. She is also survived by one daughter: Dorothea Pratt and her husband Raymond of Lake Placid. There are also 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service for family and friends will be held at a later date to be announced at the Uihlein Mercy Center. Reverend Patrick O'Reilly, Chaplain, will officiate.
Donations in her memory may be made to Uihlein Mercy Center. The Clark Funeral Home in Lake Placid is in charge of arrangements.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Helen M. Pratt, who died December 30, 2002, will be held Thursday, May 8, at St. Bernard's Church in Saranac Lake. Interment will follow at St. Bernard's Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are with the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake.
ELIZABETH "LIZ" CASSAVAUGH
Elizabeth "Liz" Cassavaugh, age 75, of 20 Church Street, Saranac Lake, died Friday, May 2, 2003 at Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake.
Born in Saranac Lake, New York on June 1, 1927, she was the daughter of Raymond and Mary Jo (Green) Slattery.
She is survived by her sons: Edward Cassavaugh of Mayfield, KY, four sisters: Eleanor Bedore and her husband George of Saranac Lake, Eileen Wheeler and her husband Randy of Henderson Harbor, NY, Brenda Taylor and her husband Robert of Marblehead, MA, and Sheila Sellers and her husband Thomas of Canoga Park, CA, a brother: Daniel Slattery and his wife Sharon of Wayland, NY and many nieces and nephews, including Deborah Groh and her husband Richard of Saranac Lake.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, May 5, at 11:15am at St. Bernard's Church with Reverend Thomas Kornmeyer officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul's Cemetery in Bloomingdale.
Friends wishing to remember Mrs. Cassavaugh may make memorial contributions to Children of the Resurrection Prayer Group in care of the funeral home.
