Terry Lea Blackman
GUILFORD — Terry Lea Blackman, 40, of Guilford died Tuesday, Aug. 11, 1998, at her residence.

She was born, Nov. 22, 1957, in Sidney. The daughter of James H. and Elsa (Shubert) MacDonald.

She was married to Daniel L. Blackman, Jan. 7, 1994, in Sidney.

She was a lifelong area resident and was a member of the Sidney American Legion Auxiliary.

Terry is survived by her husband, Daniel L. Blackman of Guilford; her father, James H. MacDonald of Guilford; her mother, Elsa Lampron of Edmeston; a daughter, Jennifer Arend of Guilford; a son, Thomas Oefelein of Guilford; a brother and sister-in-law, James Jr. and Tina MacDonald of Bainbridge; four sisters and brothers-in-laws, Catherine and Mark Barnes of Sidney, Linda and Thomas Carpenter of State College, Pa., Laura Osterhout of Afton, and Tammy and Tony Moody of Clayton, N.C.; also two grandchildren, Michael and Severia Arend;and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Aug. 14, 1998, at Evergreen Hill Cemetery, Unadilla, with the Rev. Wayne D. Burnett, pastor of the Afton United Methodist Church, officiating.

There will be no calling hours.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of Chenango County, Norwich.

Funeral arrangements are by the Westcott Funeral Home, Unadilla.

Dorothy Grace Hartmann
RIDGECREST,  Calif. — Mrs. Dorothy Grace Hartmann, 70, of South Warner Street, Ridgecrest,  Calif., formerly of Malta, died Friday, Aug. 7, 1998, at the Beverly Health and Rehab Center in Ridgecrest,  Calif.

Born and educated in Oneonta, Mrs. Hartmann was a graduate of the Oneonta High School.

Mrs. Hartmann lived in the Capital district for 25 years during which she worked at Sears & Roebuck in Colonie as a personnel specialist for 20 years retiring in 1990.

She has lived in California for the past 3 years.

Her husband Robert J. Hartmann died in 1988.

Survivors include her daughters; Cheryl L. Accurso of Ridgecrest,  Calif., and Michele M. Lindfors of Inyokern,  Calif.; one grandson and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 9 a.m., Friday at Griswold Funeral Home, 1867 State St., Schenectady.

Calling hours, to which relatives and friends are invited, will be held this evening from 7 to 9 p.m., at the funeral home.

Interment Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Schenectady Animal Protective foundation, Maple Avenue, Scotia, N.Y. 12302.

Louise B. Snyder
CHERRY VALLEY — Funeral and committal services for Mrs. Louise B. Snyder, 94, who passed away Nov. 27, 1997, will be held at the Springfield Center Cemetery, Sprinfield, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 18, 1998, with the Rev. Ronald Fralick, officiating. Burial will follow.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Ottman Funeral Home, Cherry Valley.

Theresa M. Conklin
DELHI — Mrs. Theresa M. Conklin, 75, of Delhi Manor Apartments, Phoebe Lane, a former longtime Bovina resident died Wednesday morning, Aug. 12, 1998 at O'Connor Hospital, Delhi, where she was admitted the previous day.

She was born May 19, 1923 in Walton, the daughter of William and Elizabeth (Mills) Hobbie.

A lifelong Delaware County resident, Theresa moved to Bovina when she was 9 years old, and was a 1941 graduate of Andes Central School.

She married Howard B. Conklin on Oct. 12, 1945 in Andes.

For more than 30 years she and her husband operated a dairy farm on Reinertsen Hill in Bovina until retirement in 1978.

She previously attended the Bovina United Presbyterian Church and was a member of the Bovina Fire Department Auxiliary.

Theresa had been a Delhi resident since 1987.

Suviving are her husband, Howard B. Conklin, presently a nursing home resident in Tunkhannock, Pa.; a daughter, Betty M. Morgan of Port Jervis; a son, Howard Martin Conklin of Hamden; three grandchildren, one great-grandson; two sisters, Doris Hobbie and Lula Davis both of Walton; several nieces, nephews, cousins and close personal friends including, Edna Davis and Cora Townsend both of Delhi.

Friends are invited to call at their convenience at the Hall & Peet Funeral Home, Delhi where services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 15, 1998 by the Rev. Paul R. Meisel, pastor of the Delhi Commmunity Church and burial will follow in the Bovina Cemetery, Bovina Center.

The family will be in attendance one hour before the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.

Arrangements are entrusted to Robert A. Peet, Delhi.

Carlton E. Conro
GRAND GORGE — Carlton E. Conro, 75, of Grand View Arpartments in Grand Gorge died Wednesday, Aug. 12, 1998, at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital, Oneonta.

He was born Feb. 6, 1923, in Gilboa the son of Imer and Mildred (Cronk) Conro.

He married Jenny Wells on April 7, 1980, in Fairfax, Va.

Carl was a veteran of the United States Navy during World War II. He served as ship photographer aboard the USS Mobile in the South Pacific.

He was a lifelong Stamford-area resident. He graduated from the Gilboa-Conesville School and attended pre-law school at Kansas City, Mo. He owned a professional photography shop in Kansas City for 5 years.

He later became an automobile salesman for a Buick dealership in Kansas City. Carl then moved back to New York where he owned the Ron De Voo restaurant in Gilboa for 16 years. He then owned and operated an office machines and equipment office in Marlboro. In his later years, he became a real estate salesman and developer.

Carl was a member and post master of the Gilboa Lodge F&AM No. 630, Gilboa; he was a former member and past president of the Stamford Kiwanis Club, and also a member of the Susquehanna American Legion Post 1764 in Conesville.

Carl was an airplane enthusiast and he owned his own plane and developed his own airport at one time in South Gilboa. He was also an avid sportsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing, and also golf and bowling.

He is survived by his wife, Jenny Conro of Grand Gorge; three sons and daughters-in-law, David and Robin Conro of Venezuela, Darrell Conro of Palmetto, Fla., and Robert and Diane Wells of Stamford; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Jeff Greiner of Marlboro; 11 grandchildren, Joshua, Shawn, Christopher, and Kimberly Conro, Jeffrey and Kimberly Greiner, Tracey, Robert Daniel, Nicole, Crystal, and Brittany Wells; three great-grandchildren, Kyle,  Taylor and Zachery Budd; a sister and brother-in-law, Wilma and Albert  Jones of Gilboa; two aunts, Zanah Skinner of Grand Gorge and Dorothy Shaffer of Covington, Conn., and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 15, 1998, at the Hall Funeral Home, 142 W. Main St., Stamford, with the Rev. Waylen Bray, pastor of the Stamford Baptist Church, officiating.

Burial will be held in the Stamford Cemetery at which time the Susquehanna American Legion Post will conduct full military graveside honors.

Friends may call at their convenience at the funeral home on Friday afternoon and evening. The family will be in attendance between 2 and 4 p.m. and 7 and 9 p.m.

The Gilboa Lodge will conduct Masonic services at 8:30 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may be made in Carlton's memory to the Louis Busch Hager Cancer Center or the Bassett Kidney Dialysis Unit, Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown, N.Y. 13326.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Hall Funeral Home, Stamford and Grand Gorge.

Ernest J. `Jack' Briscoe
ALBANY — Ernest J. "Jack" Briscoe, 76, of Albany and a former resident of Gilbertsville died Wednesday, Aug. 12, 1998 at St. Peter's Hospital, Albany.

He was born, Sept. 22, 1921 in Otego. The son of Merton and Ida (Miller) Briscoe.

He was married to Dorothy Lilley, Nov. 11, 1943 in Gilbertsville. Mrs. Briscoe died, Jan. 21, 1994.

He has been a resident of Albany since December of 1994 and previously lived in Gilbertsville. He was a former diary farmer and a retired employee of Amphenol Corp. of Sidney.

He was a member of the Butternut Valley Grange No. 1533 of Gilbertsville for over 50 years.

Mr. Briscoe is survived by two daughters and sons-in-laws, Loreen and Pasquale Turallo of Albany and Melodee and David F. Ireland of Bainbridge; a son and daughter-in-law, Rexford and Linda Briscoe of West Jordan, Utah; a brother, Raymond Briscoe of Otego; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and five nieces and a nephew.

Funeral and committal services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 16, 1998 at the Westcott Funeral Home, Unadilla with the Rev. Helen Havlik, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, Unadilla, officiating.

Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Otego.

Friends may call at the funeral home, Saturday, Aug. 15, 1998 from 7 to 9 p.m. when the family will be in attendance.

Funeral arrangements are by the Westcott Funeral Home, Unadilla.

Gerald G. McPartlin
MELBOURNE, Fla. — Gerald G. McPartlin, 67, of 1308 Cypress Bend Circle, Melourne, Fla., died Aug. 7, 1998, at the Holmes Regional Medical Center, Melbourne, Fla.

He was born Feb. 13, 1931, in Mineola.

He had been in this area since July, coming from Davenport.

He married Eleanor J. McPartlin on Nov. 26, 1955.

He was a sergeant in the United States Marine Corps, Korean War Veteran. He was a retired lithographer and printer, working at Foilcraft Printing, Long Island; Palmer Graphics, Binghamton; and Valley Offset, Deposit.

He was a Catholic.

He is survived by his wife, Eleanor McPartlin of Melbourne, Fla.; his daughters, Colleen Haggerty of Bow, N.H., Joan Block of Seattle, Wash., Amy Miller of Melbourne, Fla.; his sons, James McPartlin of San Francisco,  Calif., Patrick McPartlin of Lindenhurst; his brothers, James McPartlin of Syosset, Joseph McPartlin of Freeport and Richard McPartlin of Levittown and five grandchildren.

A memorial service was held on Thursday, Aug. 13, 1998, on Long Island. The cremation will be private.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 2800 Aurora Rd., No. I, Melbourne, Fla. 32935-2099.

Funeral arrangements were by the South Brevard Funeral Home, Melbourne, Fla.

Jean M. Eggleton
MARYLAND — Jean M. Eggleton, 68, of 134 Happy Valley Road (town of Milford), Maryland, R.D., died Thursday night, Aug. 13, 1998, at Bassett Hospital, Cooperstown, where she had been a patient for 12 days.
She was born Oct. 31, 1929, in Jackson, Pa., the daughter of Homer E. and Beryl (Gillette) Wood.

She grew up in Deposit and later lived in Roscoe where she married Chester R. Eggleton on Dec. 28, 1957.

While a resident of Roscoe, she was an nurses' aide at the former hospital there, a member of the Congregational Church and a charter member of the Roscoe Emergency Squad. She subsequently moved to Maryland, R.D., where she lived for the past 30 years.

Jean was employed at Bassett Hospital as ward clerk and later as a home health aide until her retirement 10 years ago. She greatly enjoyed flower gardening as well as traveling throughout the country.

Surviving are her husband of 41 years, Chet Eggleton at home; two sons and daughters-in-law, Douglas and Patricia Eggleton of Maryland, R.D., and Donald and Marcy Eggleton of Sidney; a son-in-law, Robert Miner of Warnerville; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Dean Wood of Binghamton and Gerald Wood of Endicott; two stepdaughters, Rose Froelich of Florida and Patricia Hinckley of Walton; a stepson, William Wood of San Fransicso; several step-grand and great-grandchildren; her mother-in-law, Jane Eggleton of Roscoe; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Carol Miner; a sister, Pauline Phillips, and a brother, Walter Wood.

Friends are invited to call on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. when family will be in attendance at the Hall & Peet Funeral Home, Delhi, where funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 17, by the Rev. Paul R. Meisel, pastor of the Delhi Community Church, and burial will follow in the Milford Center Cemetery.

Contributions in Jean's memory may be made to the Catskill Area Hospice.

Arrangements are entrusted to Robert A. Peet, Delhi.

Roy Tweedie
NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla. — Roy Tweedie, 80, of North Fort Myers, Fla., and formerly of Margaretville, died on Aug. 13, 1998, at North Fort Myers, Fla.

He was born May 13, 1918, in Walton, the son of Robert Lee Tweedie and Madge Wilson.

He married Ethel Smailes in Dickson City, Pa., on Aug. 23, 1942.

He retired on Feb. 6, 1974, from the Prudential Insurance Company of America after 22 years. His other occupations included Redmond Real Estate in Arkville, Downsville Dam in Downsville, Fuel Service in Walton, Webb Clothing Store in Walton and Farmed East Brook in Walton.

He was a member of the Margaretville Masonic Lodge No. 389, ARK-MAR Investment Club and the United Presbyterian Church of Margaretville.

His hobbies and interests included music, people and real estate. He attended Walton High School.

He is survived by his wife, Ethel Tweedie of North Fort Myers, Fla.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Ivan Eignor of North Fort Myers, Fla., and Karen and Philip Bouvier of Fort Myers, Fla.; one son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Kathleen Tweedie of Margaretville; one grandson, Kyle Eignor of Florida; two granddaughters, Pamela Eignor of Florida and Jessica Tweedie of Rhode Island; one sister, Edith Loker of Walton and a special niece, Kimberely Sheffield and family of California.

Funeral will be Tuesday, Aug. 18, at 11 a.m. at the United Presbyterian Church of Margaretville with Diane D. Wickham, C.L.P., officiating.

Burial will be in the Margaretville Cemetery Annex of Margaretville.

Calling hours will be Monday, Aug. 17, 1998, from 7-9 p.m. at the Hynes Funeral Home, Margaretville.

Contributions in memory of Roy Tweedie can be made to the Margaretville Memorial Hospital, Margaretville or the Hope Hospice and Palliative Care, 9470 Health Park Circle, Fort Myers, Fla. 33908.

Arrangements are by the Hynes Funeral Home, Margaretville.
