A daughter, Jackie Chambers, died in 1995; a son, Fred, died in 1997.Survivors: Her husband of 46 years, David W.; two daughters, Wendy Serino of Saratoga Springs and Becki Trichilo of Syracuse; a son, David of Syracuse; a sister, Lorraine Spadaro of Camillus; a brother, John Smilgin of New York City; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren. Harry Arthur McCray, 57, of Syracuse died Tuesday. Born in Potsdam, he graduated from Tully High School and Mohawk Valley Institute of Technology.Survivors: Three daughters, Melissa D. Sandall of Nebraska, Julie Greene of Massachusetts and Jennifer McCray of Syracuse; his mother, Frances M. Powers of Arizona; a sister, Kathy Young of Arizona; a stepbrother, Douglas Lovelady of Arizona; six grandchildren. Services: 4 p.m. Monday at Pirro & Sons Funeral Home, 514 Turtle St., Syracuse. Douglas E. Robinson, 59, of 1603 N. Salina St., Syracuse, died Thursday. Born in Syracuse, he graduated from Fayetteville-Manlius High School and attended Clarkson University. He was self-employed as an auto mechanic for many years.Survivors: A daughter, Sarah Robinson of LaFayette; three sons, John and Douglas, both of Syracuse, and James of State College, Pa.; a sister, Gail Helmburger of Cincinnati, Ohio; four grandchildren. Hilda M. Scheer

Hilda Marie Peck Scheer, 89, of Sarasota, Fla., formerly of Syracuse, died Friday. Born in Pope Mills, she lived several years in New York City and many years in Syracuse before moving out of the area in 1995. She graduated in 1930 from Ogdensburg Free Academy, in 1934 from St. Lawrence School of Nursing and received a registered nursing degree from Fordham University. She was director of nursing at three Syracuse hospitals and also was a school nurse in Syracuse parochial schools. She was a member of the Temple Society of Concord, Syracuse, and was active with Hadassah. Her husband, Lawrence J., died in 1975.Survivors: A daughter, Patricia Varley of Sarasota; three sons, James P. of Sarasota, Thomas P. of Theresa and Jon of Sackets Harbor; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren. Services: 11 a.m. Monday in Black Lake Cemetery. No calling hours. Frederick Bros. Funeral Home, Theresa, has arrangements. Contributions: Any local hospice.

William J. Warren

William J. "Jim" Warren, 75, of Fort Myers, Fla., formerly of Baldwinsville, died Tuesday. Born in Syracuse, he grew up in Kingston, Ontario, before moving back to the Syracuse area. He retired in 1987 after 40 years at Syracuse China Co. He was a member of American Legion Post 335 and the Loyal Order of Moose in Florida. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War. His wife, Barbara, died in 1996.Survivors: Four daughters, Sheila Giannoulis, Patricia Lindboe and Barbara Baum, all of Liverpool, and Donna Rocco of Camillus; two sons, William II and James, both of Syracuse; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. Services: 2 p.m. Saturday in St. Joseph the Worker Church, 1001 Tulip St., Liverpool. Cremation 500 Inc., Fort Myers, Fla., has arrangements. Dr. Edward F. Whalen

Dr. Edward F. Whalen, 80, of Manlius died Saturday. Born in Syracuse, he graduated from Oneida High School and the University of Michigan. He also attended Syracuse University and graduated from the University of  Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. He retired in 1990 after 40 years in dental practice. He was former president of the Tri-County Dental Society, the Sixth District Dental Society and the Dental Society of the State of New York. He was a member of the House of Delegates of the American Dental Association. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.Survivors: His wife of 44 years, the former Gretchen VanSyckle; a daughter, Mary Sue Arcuri of Rochester; a son, Mark L. of Baldwinsville; a sister, Justine W. Mulford of Canastota; a brother, Don F. of Albany; five grandchildren. Services: 9:15 a.m. Tuesday at Eaton-Tubbs-Schepp Funeral Home and 10 a.m. in St. Ann's Church. Burial, Lakewood Cemetery. Margaret C. Wilson

Margaret C. Wilson, 95, of Enon, Ohio, died Friday. Born in Little Falls, she lived 86 years in the Manlius area before moving to Enon in 1993. She was a volunteer with Meals on Wheels and attended Willett Memorial Wesleyan Methodist Church, Eastwood. Her husband of 69 years, Wayne, died in 1992; a son, James B., died in 1935.Survivors: Two daughters, Margaret Jessup of Ohio and Barbara Massey of Gunnison,  Colo.; four sons, Wayne of East Syracuse, Robert of Tully, Charles of Truxton and Edward of Aurora,  Colo.; a sister, Shirley Sellers of Coral Gables, Fla.; a brother, Donald Casler of East Syracuse; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren. She was a 25-year member of the St. Joseph's Church foster grandparent program. Her husband, Alfred, died in 1957.Survivors: Two daughters, Eddna Hall of Waterloo and Phyllis Rizzo of Oneida Castle; three sons, Robert of Maryland, Silvio of Oneida and Carl of Freehold, N.J.; a sister, Veronica Mizzoni of Italy; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. Russell W. Ziegler

Russell W. Ziegler, 77, of North Syracuse died Thursday. Born in Syracuse, he graduated in 1951 from LeMoyne College. He retired in 1997 from the Onondaga County Sheriff's Department and previously worked 30 years for GMAC. He was a member of Centerville Masonic Lodge 648, past potentate and past commander of the Legion of Honor of Tigris Shrine Temple and member of the Royal Order of Jesters Court 79. He was an Army Air Forces veteran of World War II.Survivors: His wife of 51 years, Virginia P.; three daughters, Debbie S. Ziegler of Baldwinsville, Sharon V. Dydyk of Syracuse and Leslie Nicoletti of Plainville; a son, Mark of Ashburn, Va.; seven grandchildren. Services: 6 p.m. today in DeWitt Community Church, 3600 Erie Blvd. E., DeWitt. A reception will be held in the church following services. Fairchild & Meech Syracuse Chapel has arrangements. He was a communicant of St. Joseph the Worker Church, Liverpool. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.Survivors: His wife of 59 years, the former Ruth C. Selfridge; a son, Francis Jr. of Liverpool; two sisters, Florence Hunt of Spring Hill, Fla., and Jean Ross of Long Island; a grandson; two great-grandchildren. William E. Peck, 87, of Camillus died Thursday. Born in Fulton, he lived in Camillus most of his life and spent the winter months in North Port, Fla., for the past 20 years. He graduated from Eastwood High School and the University of Virginia. He retired in 1975 after more than 30 years as a postmaster for the U.S. Postal Service in Syracuse. He was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees and Elks Lodge 2367 in Camillus. He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in North Port and American Legion Post 1276 in Eastwood. His first wife, Sylvia, died in 1985.Survivors: His wife, Mildred; two daughters, Dede Fisk of Los Angeles and Sharon Peck of Syracuse; a stepdaughter, Virginia Past MacDonald of Camillus; a stepson, Nick Past of Sacramento,  Calif.; a sister, Mary Jane Meuleman of Dowagiac, Mich.; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild. He graduated from James Monroe High School. He was manager for John Hancock Mutual Life Insurance Co. in Syracuse for about 20 years.
