Marian "Sis" Costello Muhl Smith, 91, of Syracuse died Thursday at Loretto. Born in Solvay, she graduated from St. Patrick's High School and had lived on Tipperary Hill. She was a secretary at Bishop Ludden High School. Her husbands, Frank Muhl and George L. Smith, and a daughter, Mary F. Swierk, died previously. Survivors: A daughter, Catherine Muhl of Syracuse; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. Services: 10 a.m. Monday in St. Patrick's Church. Burial, St. Agnes Cemetery. Howard William Allen Jr., 62, of county Route 8, Granby Center, died Wednesday. He was born in Cicero. He retired in March from Oswego Industries in Fulton after 11 years. He was a member of Boy Scouts of America Troop 722 and Explorer Post 1657. He was a member of Granby Center Fire Department and was an Army veteran. Survivors: His wife of 33 years, the former L. Janet Burton; three daughters, Melissa L. Lathrop of Fulton, Traci L. Allen of Altamont and Janean M. Allen of Plano, Texas; two sons, David W. of Scriba and William E. of Fulton; seven sisters, Deanna of Georgia, Mary Lou Bristol of Syracuse, Marjorie Rice of Florida, Nancy Bourn of North Carolina, Judy Hill of Massachusetts, Frances Robbins of Watertown and Marion of New Hampshire; four brothers, John of South Carolina, Timothy M. of North Carolina, Gary of Fairbanks, Alaska, and William H. of Chaumont; four grandchildren. Fannie Finkelstein Becker, 83, of Van Duyn Home & Hospital, Onondaga Hill, died Friday. She was born in Syracuse. She worked for more than 14 years in dorm housekeeping services at Syracuse University. Her husband of 65 years, Walter, died Oct. 24. Rae Volinsky Beron, 92, of 5100-24 Highbridge St., Fayetteville, died Saturday. She was born in Syracuse. She retired in 1974 as manager of retail sales at B&V Bakery in Syracuse. Survivors: Her husband of 72 years, Robert; a daughter, Inez Hecht of Riverdale; a son, Richard of East Longmeadow, Mass. ; a sister, Irene Meadvin of Syracuse; two brothers, Seymour and Jerry Volinsky, both of Syracuse; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. She retired in 1974 as an assembler at Prestolite after 25 years and had also worked at A.E. Nettleton and Williams Grocery. She was a member of St. Peter's Women's Club and St. Peter's Seniors. Dwight J. Huffman, 70, of 7351 Academy St., Pompey, died Friday. Born in Syracuse, he lived in Pompey most of his life. He graduated from Fabius-Pompey schools, Syracuse University and Syracuse Law School. He was a lawyer with law offices in Syracuse and Pompey and retired in the late 1980s as a judge in Pompey. He retired in 1986 as a crew leader for the Syracuse Water Department, where he worked 40 years. He was a fourth-degree member of Bishop Curley Knights of Columbus, a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Mattydale Post and a 25-year member of American Legion Pulaski Post. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. Survivors: His wife, the former Carmela Vacchiano; two sons, John A. He retired in the 1980s as a soda ash processor for Allied Corp. in Solvay. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and Blue Grass Ramble in Osceola. His wife, the former Amelia L.
