Mrs. Maria E. Petrelia, age 89, of Gloversville, died Monday morning, August 9, 2010 at St. Mary's Hospital, Amsterdam.
She was born on July 15, 1921 in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of the late John Zizzo and Mary Barry Zizzo. She was employed for a time at Paramount Theater in New York City. She was married on September 14, 1940 to Louis V. Petrelia. Together they lived in Brooklyn, then on Long Island for 12 years and also in Fort Lauderdale, Florida for 12 years before coming to Gloversville in 1985.
Mrs. Petrelia was of Catholic faith and enjoyed attending many of the functions at the Gloversville Knights of Columbus hall.
Maria is survived by her husband, Louis V. Petrelia of Gloversville; her son, Louis J. Petrelia (Carole) of Mayfield; her brother, John Zizzo of Copiague, NY; 3 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother and a sister, James Zizzo and Ellen Zizzo.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St; Gloversville, where a prayer service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday. Interment will take place at Union Rural Cemetery, Mayfield. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the National Kidney Foundation of Northeast New York, 99 Troy Rd; Suite 200, East Greenbush, NY 12061.

Mrs. Rose Capparello, age 95, of Gloversville, died Sunday afternoon, August 15, 2010 at the Fulton County Residential Health Care Facility, Gloversville.
She was born January 30, 1915 in Gloversville, the daughter of the late Michael Ollisio and Mary D'Orio Ollisio. She worked at the former Swears Glove Shop in Johnstown and at the Grandoe Corp. in Gloversville for many years.
Mrs. Capparello was a member of the former Rosary Society and Catholic Daughters of St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church and currently was a member of the Church of the Holy Spirit and its Sisters of the Holy Spirit.
Rose was married to Dominic Capparello on September 6, 1937; he died February 24, 1986. She is survived by: her daughter, Rosemarie Veeder (Skip) of Earlton, NY; two grandsons, Michael Veeder (Dolores) and Mark Veeder; two great-grandchildren, Michael R. Veeder and Alexa Veeder; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister and two brothers: Marguerite Ciarmiello, Albert Ollisio and Arthur Ollisio.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, August 17 at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St; Gloversville, where a prayer service will be conducted 9:15 a.m. Wednesday, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of the Holy Spirit, Gloversville. Interment will take place at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Johnstown. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Avenue, Gloversville, NY 12078.
Eva J. Banovic

Eva J. Banovic, age 101, of Gloversville and more recently a resident of the Sanford Home in Amsterdam, died Tuesday morning August 3, 2010 at the River Ridge Living Center in Amsterdam.
Eva was born in Gloversville on September 6, 1908. She was one of four children to the late Herbert and Mary Thompson.
She was educated in the Gloversville School System and was employed for many years at Rubin Glove Company in Gloversville.
Eva is survived by her daughter Joan A. Kingsbury (Richard) of Eastham, MA and Sarasota, FL; two sons: William Banovic (Mary Jane) of Glenville, NY and David Banovic (Choosri) of Fort Johnson, NY.
Additional survivors include 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Eva was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years Harry S. Banovic who passed away on March 7, 1989, a son Ronald Banovic who passed away in 1999 and a granddaughter JoAnn Banovic who passed away in 2009.
A memorial service in celebration of Eva's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday August 28, 2010 at St. John's Episcopal Church, 1 North Market Street, Johnstown. Interment will follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery in Gloversville. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in memory of Eva to the Sarah B. Sanford Home, 69 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam, NY 12010.
Arthur F. Morrison, Sr.

Arthur F. Morrison, Sr., 86, of Gloversville, passed away peacefully Thursday, July 29, 2010 with his family at his side.
He was born August 28, 1923 in Gloversville, the son of the late Burton and Olive (Knapp) Morrison.
Art served his country proudly in the United States Army during WWII. He was a lifelong member of the VFW Post #2077 in Gloversville.
On November 28, 1946, he married his sweetheart, the former Grace McGuire, who survives. They shared over sixty three wonderful years together.
Art was employed by the City of Gloversville Highway Department. Early in life he worked at Liberty Leather and Levor's Leather. Upon retiring from the Highway Department, Art worked for Lamie's Auto Parts.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Art made friends easily and loved to make people laugh. He enjoyed daily walks and stopping to talk or wave to people along the way- he knew just about everybody. Most of all, Art enjoyed spending time with his family. He will be very sadly missed by many.
In addition to his wife, Grace Morrison of Johnstown, survivors include a son, Arthur Morrison, Jr. (Susan) of Mayfield; two grandchildren: Stephanie Morrison and Melissa Morrison; a sister, Joan McDougall of Canajoharie and nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by four brothers: Burton Morrison, Jr., Robert Morrison, Kenneth Morrison and James Morrison and three sisters: Ruth Morrison, Mildred Carter and Bettie Sweet.
Family and friends are invited and may call Sunday, August 1 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville where a funeral will take place Monday, August 2 at 10 a.m. with Reverend Cynthia Van Allen presiding. Interment will be at Union Rural Cemetery in Mayfield with military honors. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Art's memory to a charity of one's choosing.
William J. Frye

The love of our life went to be with the Lord on Tuesday morning, September 27, 2011 surrounded by his loving family at Nathan Littauer Hospital Emergency Room. He was suddenly stricken earlier at home.
William J. "Willy" Frye, age 50, of Gloversville was born November 20, 1960 in Gloversville, the son of Frederick and Dolores Hill Frye. He was a friend to everyone who knew him.
Willy was formerly employed by the Gloversville Dept. of Public Works. He loved life, music, video games, facebook and anyone who would listen to his gift of humor.
His loved ones left behind are: his mother, Dolores A. Frye; two sisters, Cheryl Acquilla (Louis) and Crystal Frye; a brother, David Frye (Mary Hope); three nieces, Penny Hutchins (Frank), Marielyse Frye and Sarah Johnson; three nephews, Daniel Frye, Fred Johnson and Adam Acquilla; several aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends too numerous to mention. He was preceded in death by his father, Frederick E. Frye.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, September 30 at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St; Gloversville. Cremation took place at ParkView Crematorium, Schenectady.
