Clinton W. Crawford
January 23, 2006
Clinton W. Crawford, a former longtime resident of South Fallsburg, died Monday, January 23, 2006 at his home in Tijuana, Mexico. He was 68.
The son of the late William Crawford and Sadie Lattman Crawford, he was born May 12, 1937 in Monticello.
Clint worked as a mason with Local Union #5 out of Poughkeepsie and was a veteran of the United States Army serving from 1956 to 1958.
He is survived by his five brothers: Ronald Crawford of Melbourne, FL, Lawrence Crawford of Rock Hill, Glenn Crawford & Mark Crawford, both of Monticello, and Noel Crawford of New York City; fourteen nieces and nephews; and his lifelong love: Lois Alsaker of South Fallsburg and her daughters: Terri Harris & her husband Willie of Woodridge and Maurene DeFrank of Liberty.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother: Jerome Crawford.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 13 from 4:00 to 7:00pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello.
His funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 14 at 10:00am at the funeral home. Rev. Roy Shaffer will officiate.
Burial with military honors will be held in Glen Wild cemetery in Glen Wild.
Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties, 800 Stony Brook Court, Newburgh, NY 12550.
Arrangements are under the direction of the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home of Monticello.

Kevin M. Maher, Jr.
January 21, 2006
Kevin Michael Maher, Jr. of Wurtsboro, a 1994 Graduate of Monticello High School and lifelong resident of the area, died Saturday, January 21, 2006 at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. He was 29 years old.
The son of Kevin M. Maher Sr. & Virginia S. Batelli Maher, he was born May 3, 1976 in Ridgewood, NJ.
He is survived by his parents: Kevin & Virginia “Ginger” Maher of Wurtsboro; two sisters: Kelly Maher of Wayne, NJ and Casey Maher, currently serving in the Peace Corps in Ecuador; maternal grandfather: Ralph Batelli & his wife Nancy of Ramsey, NJ; paternal grandfather: Stephen P. Maher Sr. of Midland Park, NJ; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends which are too many to mention by name.
He was predeceased by his maternal grandmother: Gloria Batelli; and his paternal grandmother: Kathleen Maher.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 24 from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 111 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 25 at 11:00am at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Route 17K in Bullville. Fr. Pat McGuigan, O.Carm will officiate.
Burial will be held in St. Joseph’s cemetery in Wurtsboro.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, 1275 York Avenue, New York, NY 10021 or to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, 6 Automation Lane, Albany, NY 12205.

Daniel James Sutton, Sr.
January 16, 2006
Daniel James Sutton, Sr., a local bartender and longtime resident of the area, died Monday, January 16 2006 at the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. He was 64.
The son of the late Nathaniel James Sutton, Sr. & Aretha Curry Sutton, he was born August 1, 1941 in Trenton, Florida.
Danny worked for many years at the Concord Resort Hotel, Villa Roma & Holiday Mountain Ski Area as a bartender and was a former member of the BPO Elk’s Lodge #1544, Monticello. He also served in the United States Army from 1963-1965.
He is survived by his three sons: Eddie James Sutton of Monticello, Daniel James Sutton, Jr. of Yorktown, and David James Sutton of Monticello; two daughters: Mildred Sutton of Tampa, FL and Tonya Sutton of Omaha, NE; his former wife: Rose Marie DiGirolamo of Cuddebackville; two grandchildren; two brothers: John L. Sutton of Sebring, FL and Nathaniel J. Sutton, Jr. of Monticello, FL; two sisters: Louise Blue of Geneva and Earline Tuff of Miami, FL; a half-sister: Dora Williams of Orlando, FL; Several nieces & nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 20 from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello.
His funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 21 at 11:00am at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 15 St. John Street in Monticello. Pastor Steven B. Tate will officiate.
Burial with military honors will be held in the Sullivan Co. Veterans cemetery in Liberty.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Monticello Housing Authority Youth Program, 76 Evergreen Drive, Monticello, NY 12701.

Dorothy Driver Armstead
January 15, 2006
Dorothy Driver Armstead of Monticello, a certified nursing assistant, died Sunday, January 15, 2006 at the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. She was 74.
The daughter of the late Alberta Dahling Barrett and the late Joseph Driver, she was born March 11, 1931 in Philadelphia, PA where she attended school.
Dot, or ‘Aunt Dot’ as she was so often called, was always known for her kindheartedness to many people. She touched everyone’s heart in her life on this earth and will be missed very much.
She is survived by her husband: Thomas Armstead of Monticello; her four children: Edgar Washington of Monticello, Denise Gibbs of the Bronx, James Johnson of Monticello & Katherine Diggins of Monticello; nine grandchildren; two great grandchildren; a son-in-law: Wayne Mitchell of the Bronx; a daughter-in-law: Semmie Johnson of Monticello; a sister-in-law: Sarah Washington of Philadelphia; four nieces: Barbara Jean, Mabel, Phyllis & Victoria; three nephews: Herbert Jr., Tyrone & William, all of Philadelphia; and a host of grand nieces & nephews, great grand nieces & nephews, and friends.
Her funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
Arrangements are under the direction of the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home of Monticello.

Doris R. Lindsay
January 11, 2006
Doris R. Lindsay of Wurtsboro, a retired office manager for Dana Distributors, died Wednesday, January 11, 2006 at the Orange Regional Medical Center – Horton Campus in Middletown. She was 86.
The daughter of the late George R. Rogers & Grace Sawyer Rogers, she was born September 14, 1919 in Middletown.
Doris was a member of the Community Church of Wurtsboro where she served as Sunday School Superintendent; Past President and life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Mamakating American Legion Post #1266; Past President & Past Treasurer of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Sullivan Co. American Legion; Recipient of the Michael Diamond Award; Charter & life member of the Mamakating First Aid Squad; former member of AARP, Chapter 1441 in Middletown. She was the widow of Franklin Lindsay who predeceased her on January 28, 1978.
Her family would like to thank the many dedicated doctors, nurses and staff on 4 West at the Horton Campus of Orange Regional Medical Center. We will be forever grateful for their compassion.
She is survived by her two daughters: Joan Roe & her husband Dick, and Patricia Horton & her husband Ben, all of Bloomingburg; a brother: Walter Rogers of Wurtsboro; eight Grandchildren; 24 Great Grandchildren; one great great grandson; and several nieces & nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a sister: Jeanne Taman of Holland Patent, NY and an infant brother: Cleon Rogers.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 13 from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 111 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro.
Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 14 at 10:00am at the funeral home. Rev. Robert Hoag & Rev. Robert Schwander will officiate.
Burial will be held in the Sylvan cemetery in Wurtsboro.

Gail Patricia Lulay
January 11, 2006
Gail Patricia Lulay of Monticello, a retired developmental aide for Letchworth Village in Bullville, died Wednesday, January 11, 2006 at the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris after a short battle with cancer. She was 62.
The daughter of the late Herbert & Madeline Cooper, she was born May 30, 1943 in Buffalo.
A loving mother & grandmother, Gail was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Monticello.
She is survived by her son: Terrence Lulay & his wife Bonnie of Slate Hill; a daughter: Colette Webster & her husband Ronald of Cattaraugus; a grandson: Michael; and several nieces & nephews. She was predeceased by a brother: Glen Cooper.
A memorial service will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 174 Park Avenue, Monticello on Sunday, January 15 at 4:30pm.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 16 from 9:00am to 11:00am at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello.
Private burial will be held in Ridgebury cemetery.

Ann Frances Durham
January 10, 2006
Ann Frances Durham of Monticello, a retired legal secretary for the Sullivan Co. Dept. of Family Services in Liberty, died Tuesday, January 10, 2006 at the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. She was 68.
The daughter of the late Edward Matthew Mitchell & Bertha Jones Gee, she was born April 10, 1937 in Bayshore, Long Island.
A former real estate agent and notary public, Ann was a former President of the Sullivan Co. Legal Secretaries; First woman Secretary for the Bermuda Snooker Assoc, starting their first newsletter; involved with public relations for the Adult Education Center in Bermuda; Past Vice-President of the Ladies of Bermuda Club; Ann was also a dedicated member of St. Peter’s Church in Monticello;
She is survived by her husband: Roger O. Durham of Monticello; two sons: Vincent Faust of Stamford, CT and Guy Faust of New Rochelle; a daughter: Leesa Faust of Jersey City, NJ; one brother: Michael Gee of the Bronx; one sister: Sharon Jackson of New York City; five grandchildren; and several nieces & nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a sister: Elaine Jones.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 13 from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello.
Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, January 14 at 2:00pm at St. Peter’s Church, Broadway & Liberty Street in Monticello. Fr. John Tran will officiate.
Burial will be held in St. Peter’s cemetery in Monticello.

Georgia Anderson
January 9, 2006
Georgia Anderson, “Nana”, a longtime resident of the area, entered into eternal rest on January 9th peacefully at her home. Georgia was born November 18, 1918 in Amityville, Long Island and then moved to North Branch in 1982 with her husband Alfred, where they redesigned their home together.
She had a great love for animals, especially her collie Max, interior design and fashion. Her greatest love of all however, was her family.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 65 years, Alfred Anderson, at home; her sister, Margaret D. Bleeker of Keene, NH; her daughter, Barbara Anderson, of Loch Sheldrake; Niece Meg Blades, of Wayne, PA; Nephew, James Bleeker, of Clinton, CT; 2 granddaughters, Kim Breihof and her husband Eric, of Jeffersonville, and Kristen Smith and her husband Scott, of Eldred, NY; 5 great grandchildren, Georgina Breihof (Nana’s namesake), Eric Breihof, Darian Breihof, Triniti Breihof, and Ty Smith.She will be sadly missed by all, but her memory, wisdom, and guidance will live forever in our hearts.

Patricia Ruth Goodwin
January 6, 2006
Patricia Ruth Goodwin, a retired office manager for Pocono Ranchlands, and former resident of Bushkill, PA, died Thursday, January 5, 2006 at the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. She was 81.
The daughter of the late Thomas J. Darcy & Bess Davis Darcy, she was born December 3, 1924 in Peoria, IL. She was the widow of J. Joseph “Joe” Goodwin who predeceased her in 1999.
She was the former president of the Christian Mothers at St. Catherine of Siena, Franklin Square, Long Island; and a member of St. John’s Catholic Church, East Stroudsburg, PA.
She is survived by her daughter: Gail A. Goodwin Stiene & her husband, Edward of Monticello; a daughter-in-law: Jennifer Mercier-Goodwin of Hanover, PA; her grandchildren: Darcy Stiene Duggan & her husband Daniel of Godeffroy, Dana Stiene & her significant other Peter Kovachi of Buffalo, Megan Goodwin Signor & her husband Joel of Reisterstown, MD and Aimee Goodwin Baker & her husband Kenneth of Hanover, PA; Great grandchildren: Erik Duggan, Gailen Duggan, Emily Signor, Justin Signor, Kayla Baker and Carson Baker; nieces & nephews: Catherine Darcy, Donald Darcy, Donald (Janet) Goodwin, Carol Goodwin Mailloux & Robert Goodwin.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a son: Kevin Goodwin of Hanover, PA;
It was her wish to have her body donated to science. A memorial Mass will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Franklin Square-Muncy Fire Dept., Franklin Square, Long Island, NY or to the American Cancer Society, 419 East Main St., Suite 307B, Middletown, NY 10940, or to the Bushkill Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

Carlo DeFino
January 4, 2006
Carlo DeFino, a retired butcher for Waldbaums in Monticello, died Wednesday, January 4, 2006 at the Sullivan County Adult Care Center in Liberty. He was 71.
Born April 26, 1934 in Queens, Carlo was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the United States Navy.
He is survived by a son: William DeFino; a daughter: Melissa Stickle; a brother: Louis; three sisters: Lena, Theresa & Frances; five grandchildren; 1 great granddaughter; and several nieces & nephews.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 9 from 9:00am to 11:00am at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello.
His funeral service will follow at 11:00am at the funeral home on Monday morning. Rev. Kenneth Rodgers will officiate.
Burial will be held in the spring at St. Peter’s cemetery in Liberty.
Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, 419 East Main Street, Suite 307B, Middletown, NY 10940.
