Edward Francis Ryan
July 24, 2006
Edward Francis Ryan, Professional driver for SC Dept of Transportation, left this earth for a better life in heaven, on Monday July 24, 2006 at Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris, NY. He was 77.
The son of the late Edward Francis and Helen Payton Ryan Sr., he was born June 17, 1929 in Monticello.
Ed was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church, He served in the US Navy during the Korean War, was a member of the Monticello Senior Citizens, VFW Post 9588 and the American Legion Post 73, Sullivan County Environmental, The Catskill Center for Conservation, the National Resource Defense Council and a board member of the Senior Legislative Action Committee.
He is survived by his wife; Mary Katharine VanAarle Ryan at home: A daughter; Deirdre Ann Helen Ryan of Brooklyn, NY : several beloved cousins and many beloved friends.
Ed was a great environmentalist, conservationist and historian.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 26, from 2:00pm to 9:00pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello.
The American Legion Post and the VFW will conduct services on Wednesday between 7:15 and 8:00 PM.
His funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, July 27, at 1:00pm at St. Peters Catholic Church of Monticello, with Father Timothy Wiggins officiating.
Burial will be held at St. Peters cemetery, Monticello.
The Family requests that contributions should be made to a charity of choice.

Monticello, NY, Charlotte, NC - Nazaria Denise Simmons departed her Godly life, Saturday July 22, 2006. She was 2 years and 7 months old. The daughter of Elisha Colon and Andre Simmons, she was born December 30, 2003, in Harris, NY. Nazaria was truly an “Angel in disguise”. Her favorite words were mommy and Pop-Pop.
She is survived by; her parents: her maternal grandfather; Jose Colon of Monticello, NY: maternal grandmother; Melissa and her husband Jonathan Oney of Monticello, NY: paternal grandfather; Ernest Simmons of Fairmont, NC: paternal grandmother; Sharron and her husband Anthony Smith of Charlotte, NC: great grandmothers: Annie Simmons of Brooklyn, NY; Carrie “Kate” Johnson of Millidgeville, GA, ; Thelma Waters; and Joyce Oney and her husband John of Monticello, NY.: an aunt Calandra Denise Bruce of Charlotte, NC; Two Uncles: Terrell Davis and Jamal Colon both of Monticello, NY along with a host of uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday July 29, 2006 at 12PM, at the First Baptist Church, Liberty Street, Monticello, NY with the Rev. Greene officiating.
Burial will be in the Rock Ridge cemetery, Monticello, NY.
Nazaria was very special to us and we will miss her dearly. Grammy baby.

James G. Lyons
July 19, 2006
James G. Lyons, a lifelong resident of Monticello, died Wednesday, July 19, 2006 at the Orange Regional Medical Center-Horton Campus in Middletown. He was 62.
The son of the late James G. Lyons, Sr. & August Niven Lyons, he was born May 5, 1944 in Monticello.
Jimmy was a self-employed floor mechanic who also served our country with the United States Army in Vietnam. He was a man who made many friends and touched many lives along the way. He will be missed greatly.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years: Caroline Winkler Lyons, at home; a brother: John K. Lyons of Colorado; a sister: Sally Bonnell of Grahamsville; his beloved pets: Seamus, Suki, Cosmo, Tink, Inky & Fluffer; several nieces & nephews; and his close friends: Ron, Steffie, Riley & Svea Lindholm and Dave, Corrinne, David & Vicki Dunlap.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister: Virginia Dering.
A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.

Mary Ann Chevalier

Mary Ann Chevalier, a retired bus driver for the Monticello Central Schools, died Friday, July 14, 2006 at the Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris. She was 73.
The daughter of the late Nunzio Columbus & Josephine Tripicouski Columbus, she was born December 8, 1932 in Babylon, Long Island. She was the widow of Martin C. Chevalier.
Survivors include a son: Clyde Chevalier & his wife Marcy of Monticello; a daughter: Sheila Heins & her husband Wayne of Monticello; her grandchildren: John Chevalier & his wife Angela of Hurleyville, Martin Chevalier & his wife Brandi of Jeffersonville, Clyde Chevalier, Jr. of Monticello, Ryan Chevalier of Monticello, Jason Chevalier & his girlfriend Kate of Bethel, Richard Chevalier, Jr., Sandra Chevalier, Tonya Chevalier & Clarissa Chevalier; and several great grandchildren, brothers, sisters, nieces & nephews.
She was predeceased by a son Richard T. Chevalier, Sr.
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 17 from 8:00am to 10:00am at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello. Her funeral service will follow at 10:00am at the funeral home. Fr. John Tran will officiate.
Burial will he held in the Evergreen cemetery in Bethel.

Thomas Paden

Thomas Paden, a material handler for Kohl’s Distribution Center in Wurtsboro, died unexpectedly on Friday, July 14, 2006. He was 42.
The son of Margaret Brestolli Paden & the late Edward Paden, he was born September 7, 1963 in Suffern.
Survivors include his mother: Margaret Paden of Wurtsboro; two brothers: Charles Paden of Woodbourne & Edward Paden, Jr. of California; two sisters: Diane Johnson of the Florida Keys & Susanne Paden of Wurtsboro; his loving best friend: Rose Marsh of Bloomingburg & her children: Thomas VanHouten & Donna Isola, and Donna’s five children; and several nieces & nephews.
In addition to his father, he was predeceased by a brother: Robert Paden; and a sister: Helena Rodriquez.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 19 from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 111 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, July 20 at 11:00am at St. Joseph’s Church, Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro. Fr. Peter Madori will officiate. Burial will follow in the Sylvan cemetery in Wurtsboro.

William Wagner

William "Bill" Wagner, 81, a retired home builder of Forestburgh, NY, died at Catskill Regional Medical Center in Harris on Monday, July 10, 2006 after a courageous battle with cancer.
The son of the late Antoinette and Herman Wagner, he was born on August 11, 1924 in the Bronx, where he lived until he joined the United States Army in 1942. He was married
to Bernice "Bunny" Robinson Wagner on January 16, 1966.
Bill was a member of the NRA, an avid hunter, custom homebuilder and master carpenter. He was a one of a kind storyteller and could spend hours engrossing his family and friends with his World War II experiences and hunting expeditions.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years: Bunny Wagner; two daughters: Karla Scheinman & her husband Robert, and Lynn Joseph; two granddaughters: Sara and Lisa Scheinman; his sisters-in law: Shirley Toomey of Forestburgh and Linda Smith of Liberty; and many nieces and nephews.
He will be especially missed by his nephews Artie, Matt, and Michael, and Matt's wife Michelle, and special friends Adrian & Steve Schwartz who selflessly gave so much support to “Uncle Bill”.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers: Herman and Leonard Wagner; a son-in-law: Marcus Joseph; and nephew Darren Foss.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 12 from 5:00 to 9:00pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello.
His funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 13 at 10:00am at the funeral home.
Burial with military honors will be held at Laurel Hill cemetery in White Sulphur Springs.

Frances M. Olcott

Frances M. Olcott of Wurtsboro died Monday, July 10, 2006 at the Orange Regional Medical Center-Horton Campus in Middletown. She was 68.
The daughter of the late Harold Thompson & Blanche Helm Thompson, she was born April 26, 1938 in Middletown.
Fran was a lifelong resident of Wurtsboro and wintered in Bayonet Point, Florida. She was an 8th generation American whose family was pioneers in Mamakating and was related to Manuel Gonsaulis, the first settler of Mamakating.
Along with her husband and after her retirement, she toured all of the United States and Canada in their truck and travel trailer. They visited all of the National Parks and took a short jaunt to Mexico. They also visited Puerto Rico in case they became a state, the US Virgin Islands and the National Park there and the Caribbean.
She was a homemaker for most of her life and raised four children. She also worked for the Wurtsboro Pharmacy, Wurtsboro Variety Store and was a clerk at the US Post Office in Bloomingburg before she left to travel with her husband. She was also active in the Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, Wives of Elks and Women of the Moose in her earlier years.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years: Robert J. Olcott, at home; two daughters: Dawn Babcock Vitiello & her husband Perry of Westbrookville and Laura Froehlich of Callicoon; two sons: Robert Olcott & his wife Theresa of Monroe Township, NJ and George Olcott & his wife Priscilla of Wurtsboro; a brother: Harold Thompson of Wurtsboro; eight grandchildren: Ellen Babcock, Peter Vitiello, Jamie & Jenny Froehlich, Gabrielle, Samantha & Alyssa Olcott and George Olcott, Jr.; one niece: Kathy Pilecki; and a nephew: James Thompson.
She was predeceased by a sister: Mary Thompson of Middletown.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 13 from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 111 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro. Her funeral service will be held Thursday evening at 8:00pm at the funeral home. Burial of her ashes will be held at the convenience of the family.

Lori Ann Neilko Klein, landscaper and painter died July 6, 2006 at her home in Liberty. She was 40.
The daughter of Frank Klein and the late Florence Steenken Klein, she was born August 5, 1965 in Monticello.
She is survived by her father of Wurtsboro Hills, NY; her loving partner and friend: Paul Vassello at home; six brothers: Frank of California, Gary of Florida, David, Kenny and Robert, all of Wurtsboro, and Jeff of Astoria; and many nieces and nephews.
Lori was described by her family and friends as a talented artist who had a real zest for life.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 8 from 11:00am to 1:00pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 111 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro.
A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 8 at 1:00pm at the funeral home, with the Rev. Robert Hoag officiating.

Frederick Bliss, retired employee of the Middletown Psychiatric Center, died on July 31, 2006 at the Valley View Center for Nursing Care, Goshen, NY. He was 74.
The son of the late George Windsor and Rita Watts Bliss he was born on September 4, 1931 in Middletown, NY.
Frederick is survived by his children : Debra Bliss of Middletown, Ralph Bliss and his wife Pamela of Niskayuna, NY. and Dawn Loechner and her husband Richard of Pine Bush, His Brothers Carl Nielsen and wife Margaret of West Virginia and Chris Nielsen and wife Charlotte of Florida; And three Grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 4, 2006 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 111 Sullivan Street, Wurtsboro, NY. Steve Horvath

Steve Horvath of Monticello, a beloved husband and father, died Sunday, July 2, 2006. He was 76.
Born December 11, 1929 in Apatisfvanfalva, Hungary to Jozsef Horvath & Anna Bedi Horvath, he was the oldest of 9 children. Steve immigrated to the United States in January 1957 during the Hungarian Revolution. He worked hard throughout his life to improve the quality of life for his family, most notably working 12 years at his first job at the White Lake Mink Ranch until it closed in 1969. He continued to provide for his family working at Arnel Homes in Monticello, Concord Resort Hotel in Kiamesha Lake, and his last years at the Monticello Middle School until his retirement at the age of 62.
Steve enjoyed living a quiet and peaceful life and the simple things in life, including sitting in his backyard enjoying the fruits of his gardening labor, the squirrels, birds, and the neighbor's cat Smokey. He had a wonderful sense of humor and brought joy to the lives of many people.
Steve is survived by his wife of 43 years: Anne Feher Horvath, at home; a daughter Anna Horvath of The Center for Discovery; a son Joseph Horvath & his wife Dana of Marshall, VA; a granddaughter Kelsey; his brothers: Vendel, Zoltan & Sandor of Hungary and Jeno of Switzerland; his sisters Anna of Union, NJ and Margit and Marika, both of Hungary; and many nieces and nephews including Steven Molnar of Rock Tavern.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother Josep.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 5 from 7:00pm to 9:00pm at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello.
