Delia M. Connor
Delia M. Connor, 94, a lifelong resident of Tupper Lake, passed away on Monday, March 2. Born on May 1, 1914 in Tupper Lake, she was the daughter of Urgelle and Ella (Carrow) Madore. Delia was the last of nine surviving children.
She attended Holy Ghost Academy and was a communicant at St. Alphonsus Church in Tupper Lake. She most recently resided at AMC Mercy Center in Tupper Lake. On October 22, 1933, she married Maurice S. Connor in Tupper Lake. Maurice pre-deceased her on June 19, 1996 in Plattsburgh. They had been married for over 62, years.
They are survived by five children and their spouses; Marvin and Mary (Carr) Connor, Alvin Connor, Calvin and Dian (Tatro) Connor, James and Shirley (Miller) Connor and Patricia (Connor) Pierson and her husband Herbert. Delia took great pride in the fact that she had 20 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Alice Madore and Betty Madore and several nieces and nephews.
Delia loved being a grandmother and was always making quilts for the newborns and crafts for her family. She also gardened every year until about 2003. She and Maurice often had the seniors down to their property on the Irish Settlement in Plattsburgh for picnics and outings, which they both enjoyed and frequently talked about. Delia was a member of the Ste Anne’s Society, she was also a Cubscout mother and a Kateri mother.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was pre-deceased by her brothers and sisters, Wilfred Madore, Elzear Madore, Edgar Madore, Lawrence Madore, George Madore, Dorothy (Madore) Richer, Bernadette (Madore) Delair and Hazel (Madore) Dowe.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, March 6, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm at the Stuart-Fortune-Keough Funeral home in Tupper Lake. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Alphonsus Church. Burial will be in Lakeview cemetery in May.
Irene D. Walker
Irene D. Walker, age 98, of Saranac Lake, died Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at Adirondack Medical Center of Saranac Lake.
Born in Baltimore, Maryland on October 03, 1910, she was the daughter of John and Cora (Porter) Lang. She married Kenneth Walker on May 13, 1939 in Baltimore, MD. He predeceased her on February 7, 1976.
Mrs. Walker had been a resident of Saranac Lake since 1956 coming from Okinawa where her husband was stationed in the U.S. Army. She had been employed as a switch board operator for the New York Telephone Company for many years until her retirement. Prior to that she had worked for Paul Smith's Telephone Company and Paul Smith's College in the cafeteria for several years. Mrs. Walker was a charter member of the Saranac Lake Adult Center and was one of the original board members. She was very active in Girl Scouts as a Troup Leader for many years and was also a very active member of the First United Methodist Church in Saranac Lake. She also enjoyed gardening.
She is survived by one son Arthur Walker and his wife Sandra of Saranac Lake, NY, one daughter Irene Walker of Saranac Lake, NY, four grandchildren Jason Walker of Old Bridge, NJ, Rachel Walker of Saranac Lake, NY, Richard Reyor of Washington, DC, and Christian Scarborgh of Sanford, NC, and several nieces and nephews including Cora Stone of Ferndale, MD. She was preceded in death by one brother Franklin and two sisters Elizabeth and Evelyn.
Calling hours will take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home on Monday, April 27, 2009 from 1PM - 3PM. A memorial service will immediately follow at 3:00 P.M. at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home, Inc., with Rev. Susan Kenna officiating. Interment will follow in Pine Ridge Cemetery.

Gertrude J. Farnsworth
Gertrude J. Farnsworth, 80 of Uihlein Mercy Center, Lake Placid and formally of Tupper Lake, died Wednesday April 22, 2009.
She was born in Piercefield, NY on July 1, 1928 to Ezra & Katherine (Malark) Provost.
Her family moved to Tupper Lake in 1930. Gertrude attended and graduated from local schools
On April 24, 1963, Gertrude married Olvin Farnsworth at St. Alphonse's Church. They made their home in Tupper Lake. Gertrude worked for the local VA Hospital until 1964. After this, she was a stay at home mother and home maker. In the late 70's, Gertrude began cleaning houses for local and seasonal clients. She retired from this in 1997.
She was an active member of St. Alphonsus Church, belonging to the choir and participating in other activities.
She enjoyed playing Bingo, watching Shirley Temple Movies, and listening to Classic Country and Western Music.
Gertrude is survived by her husband of 46 years, Olvin B. Farnsworth of Uihlein Mercy Center Lake Placid. One son, David Farnsworth and his wife Lisa of Plattsburgh, NY. Two grand-daughters, Amy and Ashley Farnsworth of Plattsburgh. Two Sister-in Laws, Theresa Provost and Linda Provost of Tupper Lake, and several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her parents, and two brothers, Roy and Victor.
Calling Hours will be from Noon to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday April 25 at the Stuart-Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Tupper Lake. A mass of Christian Burial will follow at 1:30p.m. at St. Alphonsus Church. Burial will follow at Holy Name Church Cemetery in the family plot.

Ronald Joseph Millious
Ronald Joseph Millious, died peacefully at AMC-Uihlein Mercy Care Center in Lake Placid on April 21, 2009.
Born September 26, 1947 in Watertown, New York and lived in Bloomingdale for thirty-four years.
Ron was an alter-boy with the Methodist Church and graduated from Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk High School in 1965 and Secretary of his class for four years. He served in the United States Navy from January 1967 to February 1972 as a Communications Technician in Mechanics receiving medals for the National Defense Service and Good Conduct. He worked for Verizon until his retirement in 1999 and was a Verizon Pioneer Life Member
He was previously a member of the Township 19 Hunting and Recreation Club and the East Pond Club for many years. He loved the Nascar races, outdoors, fishing and hunting, and always had a helping hand and a listening ear for relatives and friends.
He is predeceased by his father Floyd A. Millious, mother Katherine J. (Broderick) Millious, and sister Alice (Millious) Austin.
He is survived by two daughters, Darcey and husband Victor Burman of Saranac Lake and Kimberly and husband Rod Gates of Bellingham, Washington, two brothers, Floyd (and wife Barbara Millious) of Ravena, Donald Millious (and friend Patricia LaGuire) of Rensselaerville, one sister Dorothy and her late husband Roger Andrus of Black River, brother-in-law Robert Austin; three granddaughters, several nieces and nephews, and former wife Linda (Oravsky) Millious.
Calling hours will be held from 12:00 PM to 2:30 PM on Saturday April 25, 2009 at the Fortune Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. A funeral service will immediately follow at 2:30 PM at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Harrietstown Cemetery in Saranac Lake.

Barbara J. Bombard, 78
Barbara J. Bombard, 78, of Tupper Lake, died Monday, April 13, 2009 at the AMC Mercy Center where she had resided for the past two months. Born on February 9, 1931 in Tupper Lake, she was the daughter of Lola Barber. She was raised by her grandparents Ida and Winifred Barber. She graduated from Tupper Lake High School in 1949 and married Francis (Kenny) Bombard June 29th of that year. They had six children. Mrs. Bombard worked at Donovan’s ice cream & bakery, JJ Newberry’s and Jackman’s Motel. She was manager of Shopper’s city and Big Tupper. She worked for 25 years at Grand Union which she retired from. She was a member of the Long Lake AARP and served as a board member, a member of the Tupper Lake Adult Center and was a member of that board. She also served on the Franklin county board of election’s and was a member of the St. Anne’s society where she served as secretary, treasurer and President for over ten years. She is survived by her husband Francis of 60 years, daughters, Cynthia Nadeau of Plattsburgh, Anna Rodrigue of Balston Spa, Donna Fuller and her husband Jack of Norwood, Elaine Gray and her husband Roger of Morrisville, one son Jeffrey Bombard of Tupper Lake. She is also survived by one sister Rosalie Dunn and her husband Leo of Haynesville, Louisiana, 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by one son Francis in March 2007. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, April 16 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at the Stuart-Fortune-Keough Funeral home. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday at 1 pm. at St. Alphonsus church. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Patricia K. Dattola, 72
Patricia K. Dattola, 72, a resident of Tupper Lake, passed into the arms of our Lord on Saturday, April 11, 2009. Born on January 16, 1937 in Potsdam, NY, she was the daughter of the late Orville E. and Loretta K. Betters of Saranac Lake, NY.
Pat attended Saranac Lake High School and graduated in 1956. She married Paul F. Dattola of Tupper Lake at Holy Name Church on April 7, 1956. As a devoted wife and mother, Pat created an atmosphere of love and security for her family.
She is survived by her husband, Paul, of Tupper Lake, NY; their children and spouses, Debbie (Dattola) and Wayne Leonard; Susan (Dattola) and James Willett; Paul D. and Patricia Dattola all of Tupper Lake; Anthony J. and Belinda Dattola of Newport, NH.
Also surviving are seven grandchildren, Jeremy (and his wife, Misty), Leonard of Boyd, Maryland; Michael (and his wife, Brenna) and Maxwell Willett; Jason and Allysa Dattola, all of Tupper Lake; and Christopher and Toni-Nichole Dattola of Newport, NH. Great grandchildren include Mackenzie and Katherine Leonard, Ryder Willett, Jesse and Adrianna Dattola.
Pat was predeceased by her sister, Loretta L. (Betters) MacGillivray and her husband, Armand (“Mac”) MacGillivray of Newport Richey, Florida. She is survived by two nieces, Lisa (MacGillivray) Gilbert and husband, Michael, along with their children, Sean and Bryan of Tolland, CT, and Joanne (Shaheen) Annette and family from Castleton, NY. Pat is also survived by one nephew, James Shaheen, and his family from Tupper Lake, NY.
Pat and her husband, Paul, were co-owners of TL Supply after purchasing it from Paul’s father, Daniel Dattola. Then in 1977, they decided to purchase Shaheen’s Motel where they operated it until 1985.
Pat also volunteered in the community. She was the first President of the Holy Name Home & School Association, and was active in their programs of religious instruction. She did volunteer work in the LP Quinn’s library, and spent time at the TL Chamber of Commerce.
Pat enjoyed the outdoors, taking long walks, swimming, and skiing. Other hobbies included knitting, reading, gardening, creating an unpublished children’s book, short stories and humorous poems the family enjoyed throughout the years. Pat loved being a mother and grandmother, and remained a friend, confidant, and advisor to her family right till the very end. She touched the lives of so many people.
Pat’s story does not end with her passing. Her strong faith, her sweet and gentle ways, her determination and strength in the face of adversity, her will to live, and her loving grace will remain in the hearts and minds of all who knew her. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday April 18, 2009, at St. Alphonsus Church followed by a memorial mass at 11:00 a.m.

Dorothy L. Ouillette, 88
Dorothy L. Ouillette, 88, of Tupper Lake, died Thursday, April 9, 2009 at AMC Mercy Center where she had resided for the past 3 months. She was born the oldest of seven children to Chet and Ellen (Knapp) Johnson in Bloomingdale NY on December 20, 1920.
Dorothy married Leon Ouillette on September 15, 1943 in Tupper Lake and they had one daughter Leona. Dorothy worked at the Oval Wood Dish Corp., the Dress Factory and Sunmount DDSO as a Developmental Aide retiring in 1983. She was pre-deceased by her husband in 2007, two sisters Mary Ellen Hall and Emily Brown all died before her. She is survived by her daughter Leona McFaul and her husband Lee of Tupper Lake, four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. One sister Faith Day; and her husband Peter of Saranac Lake, three brothers Bill Johnson and his wife Jane, of Tupper Lake, Stanley Johnson of Tupper Lake, Wesley Johnson and his wife Genie of Montgomery, Al and several nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, loved family get togethers and really enjoyed holding and playing with her cat Missy. At Dorothy’s request, there will be no calling hours or services. Donations can be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are with the Stuart-Fortune-Keough Funeral Home.
Richard C. LaPierre, 74
Richard C. LaPierre, 74, of 15 Woodland Drive Tupper Lake, passed away peacefully Saturday April 4, 2009 at Adirondack Medical Center. He was born in Tupper Lake on November 3, 1934, the son of Albert and Edna (Boardman) LaPierre.
He was united in marriage on September 6, 1952 to Jeannette Whitelaw of Saranac Lake. She predeceased him in September 1975. In 1978 he married Yvonne M. Crane of Gouverneur who now resides in Indiana.
Richard was a plumber by trade, owning and operating his own business for many years. He had attended the Tupper Lake Schools. He enjoyed bowling and crossword puzzles, and his collections of eagles and coins. He will long be remembered for his endless stories and quick wit.
He is survived by one son, Charles, of Saranac Lake; three daughters, Deborah Cox and her husband Marcel of Moira, Jenny Tozzi and her husband Don of Tucson Arizona, and Nan Hooley and her husband Jim of Saranac Lake; three step children, Gaile Menhennett and Darci Weber of Indiana, and Brian Latremore of Poughkeepsie; thirteen grandchildren, Jon, Teresa, Chris, Brian, Charles and James LaPierre, Carol Whitmore, Andrea Ivancic, Jennifer Niles, Alicia Rocha, Matthew Tozzi, Jackie and Mark Miller; six step-grandchildren, Ashley, Kyndra, Anthony, Elizabeth, Jeffrey and Karysta; twenty great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by three sisters, Jeannette, Lorraine, and Shirley; two brothers, Robert and Carlton, a son Kevin, a granddaughter Christy, and grandson Jason.

Claude F. MacDonald Jr.
Claude F. MacDonald Jr., 88, of 1005 State Route 3, Saranac Lake, died Friday, April 3, 2009 at Uihlein Mercy Center in Lake Placid.
Born in Dayton, Ohio on June 1, 1920, he was the son of Claude and Blanche (Reed) MacDonald. He married Elizabeth MacDonald (Donohue) on March 22, 1942 in Great Neck, New York.
Mr. MacDonald had been a resident of Saranac Lake since 1962, coming from East North Port, Long Island.
Mr. MacDonald served in the United States Army Air Force and received an Honorable Discharge in November of 1945. He enlisted as a aviation cadet and completed the pilot training program.
Prior to the Air force and after being discharged he worked at Republic Aviation Corp in Farmingdale, NY. He was an aircraft electrician later promoted to foreman. He was in charge of final assembly making necessary final adjustments and corrections on electrical components before disposition to the Air Force. He installed flight test wiring and equipment in experimental aircraft. As foreman he inspected electrical installations in aircraft to blueprint specs and also inspected electrical systems in experimental guided missiles. He was in charge of a group of men that installed flight test instrumentation in several experimental aircraft. He was also responsible for correcting discrepancies in radar, doppler and auto pilot systems in various new production aircraft. In the research lab he performed various structural fatigue tests using the latest electronic recording equipment. On several occasions he traveled to Edward’s Air Force Base in California to inspect a prototype aircraft for the company.
After moving to Saranac Lake, Mr. MacDonald worked at the Plattsburgh Air Force Base in Plattsburgh, NY as an electrical inspector of motor equipment and received numerous performance awards. He retired in June of 1984.
Claude was an avid fly fisherman. He also loved to hunt for deer, rabbits and grouse. He was also a "jack of all trades" doing carpentry, plumbing and electrical. In his work shop he made numerous inventions and received an US patent for an automatic windshield wiper invention.
He is survived by one son William MacDonald and his wife Alice of Walla Walla, Wash.; two daughters: Barbara Cartier and her husband Jerome of Bloomingdale and Carol Seymour and her husband Kevin of Vermontville; nine grandchildren: Elizabeth, Hannah and William MacDonald, Kyle and Kristin Seymour, Jeffrey Cartier, Tammy Patnode, Cherie Miller and James MacDonald and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife Elizabeth, his father, his mother, one sister Janet and a son James MacDonald.
Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. A memorial service will be held at a later date to be announced at the funeral home.

Sherry L. Gaynor
Sherry L. Gaynor, 59, of Greenwood St., Lake Placid, NY died Saturday, April 3, 2009 at the Adirondack Medial Center in Saranac Lake, NY. Sherry was born February 17, 1950 in Malone, NY the daughter of Ralph and Rena (O'Neil) Mosher.
She had worked in Lake placid for several years at Marshall's Drug Store and at Lake Placid Drug for the Delahant Family. She had most recently worked at Uihlein Mercy Center in Lake Placid as a nurses aid. Sherry is survived by her mother, Rena Mosher of Massena, NY; Four brothers, Howard Mosher and his wife Terri of St. Regis Falls, NY, Bruce Mosher and his wife Angie of Laton, CA, Tim Mosher and his wife Nuri of Littleton, CO, Michael Mosher and his wife Sally of Vertmontville, NY; Two sisters, Linda O'Shaughnessey of St. Regis Falls and Paulette Roque of Canassota, NY. She is also survived by three aunts, one uncle, several nieces and nephews, several great nieces and nephews, one great great nephew and several close friends. One sister, Penny and one brother, Denton both died earlier.
There are no calling hours. Services are private and at the convenience of the family. The Clark Funeral Home in Lake Placid, NY is in charge of arrangements.
Pauline C. Leonard, 84
TUPPER LAKE- Pauline C. Leonard, 84, of Tupper Lake, died Thursday, May 28, 2009 at AMC Mercy Center where she had resided for the past year. Born on April 1, 1925 in Tupper Lake, she was the daughter of Albert and Cecile (Michaud) LaLonde. Pauline attended local schools and married John Leonard on October 13, 1945. He died on August 31, 2007. Pauline worked for a time at JJ Newberries in Tupper Lake and later owned and operated Pauly's yarn shop where she taught knitting and crocheting. She is survived by two sons; Steven Leonard of Glens Falls and Patrick Leonard of Greenville, nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters; Adel Hunkins of Massena, Monica Leonard of Ogdensburg, two brothers, Melvin LaLonde and Albert LaLonde of Phoenix, Az. She was pre-deceased by her husband John, a daughter Sharon and two sisters, Violet and Gloria. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, May 31 from 4 to 7 pm at the Stuart-Fortune-Keough FH in Tupper Lake. A Mass of christian burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10:00 at St. Alphonsus church. Margaret M. Cote, 84
Margaret M. Cote, 84, of Ballston Lake, NY and formerly of Tupper Lake, NY passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 26, 2009.
Born on July 13, 1924 in Troy, NY, she was the daughter of James and Sarah (Palitsch) Martin.
She graduated from Catholic Central High School. After graduation she worked at the Watervliet Arsenal and later as a telephone operator for the New York Telephone Company. Prior to her retirement in 1988, she worked for Ginsberg’s Department Store in Tupper Lake.
On October 28, 1950, Peg married Emile L. Cote. She enjoyed spending time with her family and loved to dance.
She is survived by her daughter, Virginia and son-in-law Roy Pfeil and three grandsons, David, Kevin and Brian Pfeil of Ballston Lake, NY.
She is predeceased by her husband, parents, one sister Virginia Martin, and two brothers, James Martin, Jr. and William Martin of Troy, NY.
Calling hours will be Friday, May 29 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Stuart, Fortune, Keough Funeral Home on Cliff Ave., Tupper Lake, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church on Saturday, May 30 at 10 a.m.
James M. Bombard, 63
James M. Bombard, 63, of Tupper Lake, died May 23, 2009 at home, surrounded by family and close friends, after courageously battling a long-term illness.
Born Dec. 16, 1945, he was the son of Alfred Bombard and Rita (Frechette) Peets. He graduated from Holy Ghost Academy as the valedictorian and president of the class of 1963. He also attended St. Mary’s University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, and the Eymard Prep Seminary in Hyde Park.
From an early age, Jim worked alongside his father doing masonry. He went on to work for the U.S. Post Office and Sunmount. He eventually came to build his own businesses, Bombard and Boudreau and Caretaker Enterprises as a contractor. One of his biggest accomplishments as a lifelong mason was building the castle on Old Wawbeek Road in Tupper Lake.
He was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Army from 1965 to 1968 and was stationed in Gross-Sachsenheim, Germany for 15 months.
Jim was a loving father and husband and enjoyed traveling with his wife Susan and spending time with family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Susan, of Tupper Lake; daughters: Brittany Bombard and her fiancé Eric Proulx of Tupper Lake; Tiffany Kentile of Colorado Springs, Colo., Gabrielle Bombard and her boyfriend Michael Oakes of Atlanta, Ga. and Jami Bombard of Port Orchard, Wash.; step-son Kirk Roberts and his wife Kristi of Glens Falls; brother Joe Bombard of Tupper Lake; sisters: Janet Roberts and her husband Wayne of Tupper Lake and Jeanne Crubaugh and her husband Rodger of Haines City, Fla.; step-father Donald Peets of Winter Haven, Fla.; nephews: Michael Roberts and his wife Ellie of Plattsburgh and Keegan and Kollin Bombard of Tupper Lake; neices: Kiarra and Kaylee Bombard of Tupper Lake; uncle Francis Bombard; several cousins; and close friends: Guy Hurteau, Donna Poirier and Cindy Powers, all of Tupper Lake.
He was predeceased by his parents.
Jim’s family will hold a memorial service at 10 a.m. Friday at the Holy Name Church in Tupper Lake. A Mass of Christian burial will be held after the gathering at 11 a.m. A graveside service will follow in the Holy Name Cemetery in Tupper Lake. His family will welcome friends to remember Jim at 1 p.m. at the VFW on Park Street in Tupper Lake. The Stuart-Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Tupper Lake is in charge of arrangements.

Catherine P. Kirche, 97
Catherine P. Kirche, age 97, of 7278 State Route 30, Paul Smiths, NY, died Thursday, May 21, 2009 at the AMC-Uihlein Mercy Center Nursing Home in Lake Placid where she had been a resident since 2007.
Born in Remsen, New York on February 18, 1912, she was the daughter of William and Cora (Ingersoll) Pritchard, Sr. She married Charles D. Kirche, Jr. on June 10, 1939 in Tacony, Philadelphia, PA. He predeceased her on March 11, 2002.
She is survived by one son Donald Kirche of Saranac Lake, NY; one daughter M. Ellen Jones of Lake Placid, NY; one brother Maldwyn Pritchard of Boonville, NY, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, mother, one sister Mary Lewis and one brother William Pritchard, Jr.
Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. There will be no calling hours. Funeral services will take place at the convenience of the family.

Cornelia Neal, 85
Cornelia Neal, age 85, formerly of Saranac Lake died Thursday, May 21, 2009 at the AMC-Uihlein Mercy Center in Lake Placid where she had been a resident since 2004.
Born in New York City, New York on April 16, 1924, she was the daughter of Kenneth and Vivienne (Burroughs) Clapp. She married James “Bob” R. Neal on September 12, 1946. He predeceased her on April 29, 2001.
Cornelia graduated from Westover School. She attended journalism school in New York, and subsequently wrote for Vogue magazine. She and her husband lived in Charlottesville, Virginia for many years before moving to Saranac Lake in 1996. In Charlottesville, Cornelia was a valued patient advocate in the emergency room and surgical units at The University of Virginia Hospital.She is survived by one daughter Susan Neal and her husband Bob Pettee of Saranac Lake, NY, one son James "Rob" Neal and his wife Kimberly "Kimmey" of Hillsboro, OR and her granddaughter Kate Pettee of Saranac Lake, NY. Funeral arrangements are in care of the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home in Saranac Lake. There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will take place at 10:00 AM on Thursday May 28, 2009 at the Uihlein Mercy Center Chapel in Lake Placid, with Rev. Patrick O'Reilly officiating.
