Wyon A. "Hap" Taplin, 80, of 186 Canning Factory Road, Richland, died Saturday. He was a life resident of Richland and attended Richland and Pulaski schools. He retired in 1977 as a carpenter with Carpenter's Union Local 747 in Syracuse. He was an honorary member and former chief of Richland Volunteer Fire Department. He was a former scoutmaster in Richland. He was an Army veteran of World War II and received two Bronze Stars. His wife, the former Doris Martin, died in 1980. Survivors: His companion, Barbara Lyman; two sons, Wade A. of Conover, N.C., and Wayne D. of Richland; three sisters, Varda Teska of Pulaski, Lavaina Johnson of Williamstown and Maryetta Whaley of California; three brothers, Francis of Sandy Creek, Vardon of Port Byron and James of California; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren. Ruth M. Bosak, 85, of Dallas died Friday. She lived in Pulaski from 1937 to 1995 before moving to Texas. She graduated from Sandy Creek schools in 1934 and worked for Petrie's Bakery.
