Ronald Little
SENECA FALLS/PHELPS - Ronald Little passed away Thursday, Feb. 20, 2003 at his home in Las Vegas, after an extended illness.
Memorials may be made to the Nathan Adelson Hospice, 4141 Swenson St., Las Vegas, NV, 89119.
Ron was born April 4, 1927, the son of the late Margaret Bannister and John Little. He graduated from Mynderse Academy in 1945, and had served with the Air Force during World War II.
Ron graduated from Emerson College in Boston with a bachelor of arts degree. He had worked for WBZ-TV in Philadelphia, both Westinghouse stations, and was chosen by Mike Douglas to be the production manager of his show. After Mike's show went off the air, Ron worked for Bennett Cinema Services in Las Vegas.
He is survived by his three daughters, Robin Cleary of Winchester, Mass., Margaret Little of Marlton, NJ, and Diana Little of Hyatsville, Md.; one son, Chris Little of Cherry Hill, NJ; two granddaughters, Nicole Cleary and Kristen Little; three sisters, Margaret Yells of Seneca Falls and Georgia and Jannette L. Monterville of Seneca Falls; sister-in-law, Olga Little; several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; several nieces and nephews; and a dear friend, Joyce Nuss.
He was predeceased by his brother, Thomas Little.
Doris Merithew Seigfred
CANANDAIGUA/PHELPS - Mrs. Doris Merithew Seigfred, 81, of 201 Crabapple Drive, died Wednesday, March 19, 2003 at F. F. Thompson Hospital.
Friends called Saturday, March 22, 2003 at the Cheney Funeral Home in Phelps. Funeral services followed at 7pm with the Rev. Gary Judson officiating. Interment will be in the spring in Riverview cemetery in Clifton Springs.

Mrs. Seigfred was born Dec. 2, 1921, in Waterloo, the daughter or Robert and Nettie Doane VanNostrand. In her younger years, she was an avid bowler, golfer and great fisherwoman. In her later years, she was a great cook and a wonderful grandmother. She will be greatly missed by young and old alike.
Mrs. Seigfred worked for the Clifton Springs Hospital Pediatric Ward for 20 years, and retired from the Rochester Institute of Technology after 25 years of service.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 25 years, Robert E. "Ziggy" Seigfred, of Canandaigua; daughter, Patti (Paul) Hulster of Phelps; sons, Leon (Regina) Merithew of Canandaigua, Gary Merithew of Rochester, Robert Merithew of Virginia and Fred Merithew of North Carolina; stepchildren, Raymond (Katie) Seigfred of Fairport and Trudie (Brian) Hoyt of Fairport; sister, Bernice Lannon of Clifton Springs; 21 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Edith M. Conner
PHELPS - Edith M. Conner, 93, passed away Wednesday, April 2, 2003 at the Clifton Springs Hospital Nursing Home.
Friends called Friday, April 4 at the Eacker Funeral Home in Phelps. Funeral services were Saturday, April 5 at the funeral home, with the Rev. Shirley Filiatreau officiating. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in Resthaven cemetery.
Friends may contribute in Edith's memory to the Clifton Springs Hospital Nursing Home Activity Fund in care of Beth Whitbeck, 2 Coulter Road, Clifton Springs, 14432.
Edith was born Nov. 24, 1909, in Canastota, the daughter of Arthur and Minnie May Weimer. She had lived in the Phelps area for more than 70 years. Edith was a member of the United Church of Phelps and the Wide Awake Grange. She was a member and served as an officer on the Resthaven cemetery Association Board.
She is survived by three daughters, Joan Conner of Phelps, Ann (Frederick) Bohner of Lyons and Carol (Dean) Wolfe of Ohio; one grandchild; and one brother, Jack (Joyce) Weimer of Oneonta.
She was predeceased by her husband, Frank, in 1990.
James E. Mattoon
PHELPS - James E. Mattoon, 78, of 3375 County Road 20, died on Friday, March 28, 2003 at his home.
There were no prior calling hours or funeral services.
Contributions may be made in memory of Mr. Mattoon to the Phelps Volunteer Ambulance, 7 Exchange St., Phelps, 14532; to Mercy Flight Central, 2420 Brickyard Road, Canandaigua, 14424; to The House of John, 14 Spring St., Clifton Springs, 14432; or to a charity of one's choice.
Mr. Mattoon was born on Feb. 15, 1925, in Phelps, the son of Delbert and Elizabeth DeRuyter Mattoon. He retired as superintendent of buildings and grounds for the Phelps Clifton Springs School District after 31 years of service. He also worked for Joel Caves Lumber Mill in Phelps.
Mr. Mattoon was a Coast Guard veteran of World War II and a 30-year member of the Seeley B. Parish American Legion Post 457 Phelps. The most important part of Mr. Mattoon's life was his family; he enjoyed building their homes together and spending quality time with them all. He was loved and still is, more than words can express.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 58 years, Rosalie Bowen Mattoon of Stanley; children James R. Mattoon of Phelps, Steven Paul Mattoon of Middletown and Karen (Leon) Ruthven of Stanley; sister Joyce Hoeper of Arizona; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins; and many special friends.
He was predeceased by his son, Terry Mattoon who died on Feb. 11, 2002; and his brother, Edward Mattoon.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Cheney Funeral Home in Phelps.
Edna Putnam
GEORGIA/PHELPS - Edna Putnam, 92, of Acworth, GA; formerly of Falkey Road in Phelps, died on Saturday, Nov. 6, 2002 at the Kenestone Hospital in Marietta, Ga.
Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation in her memory.
Edna was born June 11, 1910, in Seneca Falls, the daughter of Albert and Zelpha Hand formerly of Phelps. She was the widow of Frank W. Putnam.
Mrs. Putnam retired from the Newark Developmental Center in Newark. She will be sadly missed by all of her family.
She is survived by her sister, Zella (Harold) Palmer, formerly of Phelps; two sisters-in-law, Genevieve Hand of Geneva and Dorothy Hand of Berea, Ohio; 11 nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by six sisters, Doris Siegwalt, Alberta Cattieu, Lillian Krager, Gertrude Post, LaNora Overslaugh and Madeline Harvey; three brothers, Laverne, Albert, and her twin brother Edwin Hand.
Richard A. Tillman Jr.
PHELPS - Richard A. Tillman, Jr., 35, of 40 William Street, died unexpectedly Tuesday, April 1, 2003 at Geneva General Hospital.
Friends called Thursday, April 3 at the Cheney Funeral Home in Phelps. A Mass of Christian Burial was Friday, April 4 at St. Francis Church in Phelps, with the Rev. Edward Dillon celebrating. Burial will be in St. Francis cemetery.
Richard was born Nov. 11, 1967, in Geneva, the son of Richard Sr. and Ilene Burke Tillman.

Richard is survived by his loving wife, April Tillman; three daughters, Erica, Amanda and Sara; mother, Eileen Tillman of Geneva; grandmother, Nettie Tillman of Phelps; seven sisters, Shirley Snow of Phelps, Beverly Frank of Newark, Nancy (Curtis) Sheradin of Geneva, Virginia (Lynn) Garrow of Waterloo, Diane Mesmer of Geneva, Debbie Doeblin of Geneva and Phyllis Tillman of Geneva; mother and father-in-law, JoAnn and Donald Wickum of Phelps; two sisters-in-law, Peggy (Howard) Scharett of Phelps and Joyce Clark of Romulus; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
He was predeceased by his father, Richard Tillman Sr.; and uncle, Ernest Tillman Sr.
Mary S. Snyder
PHELPS - Mary S. Snyder, 49, of Glass Factory Bay and Melvin Hill Road, died Tuesday, April 8, 2003 at Geneva General Hospital.
There were no prior calling hours. Friends were invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday, April 12 at the Midlakes Primary School Gymnasium, 8 Banta St., in Phelps, with the Rev. Shirley Filiatreau officiating.

Mary was born April 13, 1953, in Newark, the daughter of Dr. William and Eleanor Morgan Stewart. She graduated from Newark High School and Finger Lakes Community College. She was a member of the United Church of Phelps and the Phelps Memorial Library. Mary was a registered nurse for Midlakes Primary School.
She is survived by her husband, Michael Snyder, of Geneva/Phelps; daughter, Jamie (Matt Murphy) Snyder of Farmington; son, William Snyder of Geneva/Phelps; stepdaughters, Shannon R. Snyder of Rochester and Jessica (David) Crudele of Canandaigua; grandson, Frank Crudele of Canandaigua; parents, Dr. William and Eleanor Stewart of Englewood, Fla.; brother, Richard Stewart of Richmond, Va.; sister, Ann (Bob) Morgenthal of Lakeland, Fla.; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; and all of the students and staff of Midlakes Primary School.
Dorothy "Dot" L. Dunham
GENEVA - Dorothy "Dot" L. Dunham, loving wife of Francis "Skip" Dunham and a loving mother, passed away Friday, April 18, 2003 at her home.
Friends called Monday, April 21 at the DeVaney-Bennett Funeral Home. Funeral services were Tuesday, April 22 at the funeral home.
Dorothy was born Oct. 17, 1928, in Geneva, the daughter of Robert E. and Minnie Demorest Weller. She was a homemaker and craft maker. She was also a member of the Phelps American Legion Auxiliary Post 457.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Francis Dunham; one son, Donald (Luann) Dunham; two daughters, Debbie (Paul) King and Dorrie (Claude Parish) Dunham; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; and two brothers, Larry "Lonesome Larry" Weller and Paul Weller.
Lloyd S. "Uncle Zeb" Habberfield
CLIFTON SPRINGS - Lloyd S. "Uncle Zeb" Habberfield, 80, formerly of Shortsville, died Tuesday, April 22, 2003.
Friends called Thursday, April 24 at the Sainsbury Funeral Home in Shortsville. A funeral service was held Friday, conducted by the Rev. Lynn Spence. Burial will be in Brookside cemetery in Shortsville.
Contributions in his memory may be made to the Clifton Springs Library.
In the mid to late 1950s, Lloyd became involved in country music and formed a band called The Hillbilly Rockers, and then became better known as Crazy Lloyd and the Starlite Rangers. He also was a member of the Griffin Alley Clowns, marching in many firemen's parades and doing magic tricks. He was a World War II Army veteran, member of Turner Schrader Legion Post 34 and the Clifton Springs VFW. He was employed by Garlock Manufacturing for 22 years.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Behnk Habberfield; son, Eldon (Sandra); four step-daughters, Julie and Kathleen Glascow, Christine Bohannan and Heidi Burm; several nieces and nephews; five grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by first wife, Elizabeth; and son, Richard.
Eleanor M. Campbell Kipp
PHELPS - Eleanor M. Campbell Kipp, 85, died Monday, April 21, 2003 at her home after a long illness.
Friends called Tuesday, April 22 at the Cheney Funeral Home in Phelps. A Mass of Christian Burial was Wednesday, April 23 at St. Francis Church in Phelps, with the Rev. Edward Dillon officiating. Burial will be private in Sandhill cemetery.

Eleanor was born Jan. 22, 1918, in Geneva, the daughter of the late William H. and Loretta Dunn Campbell. She graduate from DeSales High School, Class of 1937. Eleanor was employed at the former Shuron Optical Co. in Geneva.
Eleanor was a lifelong resident of the Finger Lakes area until 1990 when she and her husband, Leigh, moved to Lakeland, Fla. They spent 56 years together.
Eleanor and her husband had no children but always said the children of her sister, and brother-in-law, Barbara and Charles Tillman, were their "shared children, " always spending summers, camping and all of the holidays with them. The seven children include Thomas Tillman of Fort Pierce, Fla., Linda (Jack) LaLonde of Fairport, Carol (Curtis) Reuter of Portales, N.M., Sandra (Richard) Goodman of Patchogue, Sherie Schiff of Canandaigua, David (Elizabeth) Tillman of Phelps and Valerie (Jeff Stowell) of Lyons.
She is also survived by a brother, Donald (Mary) Campbell of Leesburg, Fla.; sisters, Rosalie (Harold) Kneut of Stanley, Barbara (Charles) Tillman of Phelps and Lakeland, Fla., Eileen Rowley of Prince George, Va., Phyllis (Will) Mahnken of Higginsville, Mo., and Loretta (Wayne) Buisch of Phelps; sisters-in-law, Leuella Daeffler of Waterloo, LeElla Campbell Dymond of Canandaigua and Juanita Campbell of Hall; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leigh, who died July 27, 1999; four brothers, Robert, Alfred, Howard, and Edward; and two sisters, Doris DeWind Wertman and Vivian Campbell.
