Laura A. Day Johnson, 94, of East Main Street, Earlville, died Tuesday. Born in Searsburg, Vt., she graduated from Readsboro (Vt.) High School. She retired in 1973 as a telephone operator for Earlville Telephone Co. after 25 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Earlville. Her husband, Edward, died in 1973; a daughter, Kathleen Frawley, died in 1998. Survivors: Three daughters, Mary Barker and Helen Paver, both of Whiting, N.J., and Laura Burton of Cape Cod, Mass.; a sister, Dorothy Slater of Bennington, Vt.; a brother, Joseph Day of Smyrna; eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild. Helen Jane Bowman Kogut, 83, of 6759 Route 80, Apulia, died Tuesday. Born in Syracuse, she lived in Apulia 50 years. She graduated from St. Vincent de Paul School and Powelson Business Institute. She was a homemaker and a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church in Pompey. Her husband, John, died in 1968. Survivors: Four daughters, Kathleen J. Eyman of Rushville, Ohio, Patricia J. Gooden of Minoa, Barbara K. Bailey Maher of Pompey and Mary K. Lamb of Baldwinsville; two sons, John K. of Cazenovia and Timothy J. of Apulia; a stepdaughter, Josanna Kogut of Jamesville; a stepson, Michael M. She was a member of Victory Chapter 205, Order of Eastern Star, and Cairo Temple 26, Daughters of the Nile. Her mother, the former Esther I. Hilldebrandt, died previously. Fred J. Montalbano, 84, of 4576 Stoney Brook Road, Verona, died Tuesday at Oneida Healthcare Center Extended Care Facility. Born in New York City, he graduated from Canastota Central School. He retired in 1980 as a machine operator at Revere Copper and Brass in Rome. He was a member of St. Helena's Church in Sherrill and the Teamsters Union in Utica. His wife, the former Esther Sforza, died Feb. 3. Francis J. Wise of Syracuse died Wednesday. Born in Syracuse, he attended Syracuse city schools. He retired in 1986 as a baker for Penny Curtiss Baking Co. in Syracuse after 20 years and had also worked at Easy Washer Co. He was a communicant of St. Daniel's Church and an Army veteran of World War II. Survivors: His wife, the former Marie A. DiRubbo; two brothers, Richard and Conrad Wise, both of Syracuse. Ida Como Bada, 91, of Ocean Springs, Miss., died Monday. Born in Rome, Italy, she lived in Syracuse more than 71 years before moving to Ocean Springs a year ago. She was a volunteer for Assumption Church in Syracuse for more than 40 years and also volunteered at St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center. She attended St. Alphonsus Church in Ocean Springs and was a homemaker. Her husband, Herman, died previously. Survivors: A son, Joseph of Ocean Springs; two sisters, Lena Bracci and Emma Lenn, both of Syracuse; a brother, Rick Como of Syracuse; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. Ralph Edwin Kelley Sr., 88, of Sayre, Pa., formerly of Constantia, died June 18. He was born in Chinook, Mont., and lived in Constantia 40 years before moving to Pennsylvania 17 years ago. He retired in 1975 as a distillation operator at Allied Chemical Corp. after 36 years. His first wife, Ruth, died in 1962; a son, David, died in 2001.
