Passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on August 13, 2005. He is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Ruth Anderson Lawrence, M.D. and nine children, Robert, Barbara, Timothy, Kathleen, David, Mary Alice, Joan, John, and Stephen; and their spouses, Rachel, Dennis Asselin, Edith, Barry Morris, Felicia, David Khalil, and Anthony Cotrupe; sixteen grandchildren, Rob, Max, Patrick, Nathaniel, Madeleine, Hannah, David Lee, Mikey, Victoria, Jackson, Ryan, Eli, Daniel, Nellie, Henry and Lucy. Predeceased by his sister, Martha “Mattie” Lawrence Weiners. Also survived by his brother, Donald Lawrence; many nieces and nephews. Dr. Lawrence was an Emeritus Professor at the University of Rochester Medical Center. He received his M.D. degree in 1949 from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and was the first resident in anesthesiology at Strong Memorial Hosptial in 1952. He was honored with “The Living Tree” award for his superior work as a physician. He was the first Executive Director of the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC). Robert Lawrence rose to the rank of Captain in the US Army serving in World War II and the Korean War. Dr. Lawrence was in the original M.A.S.H. unit, earning a Bronze Star.

Pat is survived by her beloved husband of 59 years, Edwin L. Anthony, her children: Cathy Anthony, Elizabeth Blessington (Carlo), Sam Anthony (Ann); her sister Gratia Lund (John) of North Carolina; and seven grandchildren: Ben Naramore, Jason Levin (Susan), Katie Spaker (Billy), Michael Levin, Peter Blessington, Madeline Anthony and Ellen Anthony; and one great-grandchild, Karma Spaker.
Born in Hornell, Pat has lived in Rochester since 1955. She believed strongly in the value of education and her life reflects that commitment. She was a dedicated teacher of high school English at Rush Henrietta for 20 years, and after retirement, ran the Writing Center at Nazareth College. Pat was also an inspiring example of a lifelong learner, earning her B.A. in 1945 (Univ. of North Carolina), and her Doctorate in Education (Boston Univ.) at the age of 57.

Also her #4 son, Gary Brown, her adopted daughter, Colleen Broman, both of Fairport and her dearest friend of 75 years, Mary Jane (Penny) Wuest and many devoted nieces and nephews. In the early 50s, Anne was a buyer at Sibley, Lindsay & Curr Co. and in her later years she was a real estate agent. Upon retirement, Anne and Joe wintered on Sanibel Island, FL for 17 years. Anne served on the Womens Board of St. Marys Hospital and was a member of the Seton branches. She was Chairwoman of the 35th Seton Ball and the Seton Fashion Show. She volunteered at the WXXI Auction and for St. Anns Annies Angels. She was a member of St. John of Rochester Church for 43 years and, in the early years, was very active in both the church and the school. A loving and generous person, Annes influence was widely and deeply felt by her large, extended Irish family, many adopted children and her innumerable friends.
