Stebbins, Mina Gary Armstrong: Gary Stebbins, a beloved Southerner and civic leader of Rochester for over 50 years, died at her home at 2301 East Avenue on September 26, 2000 after a long illness. She was 85 years old. Born in Selma, Alabama on December 12, 1914, she was the daughter of Mina Gary Lamar and Houston Churchwell Armstrong. She attended the Master's School in Dobbs Ferry, New York before graduating from Chatham Hall in Virginia. Gary graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Duke University with a double major in history and religion. She was introduced to Rochester by her college roommate Marion Buell. She was married for 61 years to Henry Hamlin Stebbins III, son of Henry Hamlin Stebbins Jr. and Jane Porter Robinson of Clover Street. They had three children; Henry Hamlin Stebbins of Scotia, New York; Dr. Mina Gary (Gay) Stebbins Pepper of Naples, Florida, and Houston Armstrong Stebbins of Tuxedo Park, New York. She is survived by three children and five grandchildren: Amanda Mina Gary Pepper, James Armstrong Pepper, Sam Armstrong Stebbins. Katherine Porter Stebbins, and Houston Armstrong Stebbins II.
A Colonial Dame and longtime member of the Rochester Female Charitable Society, she served on the Board of the Rochester Friendly Home for 33 years and on the boards of the Rochester Junior League, the Chatterbox and the Hochstein School of Music. She was a supporter of the Civic Music Association, Planned Parenthood, and conservation organizations. An avid naturalist, she loved gardening, birding, and walking the woods at the farm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Gary Stebbins Conservation Fund c/o Environmental Advocates, 353 Hamilton Street, Albany, NY 12210. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church Tuesday, October 3 at 10 AM.

Teifke, Mary C. (Cutro): PERINTON: September 27, 2000 at the age of 64 years. She is survived by her husband, Robert H. Teifke; 2 sons, Erik Teifke of Rochester and Kurt Teifke of St. Augustine, FL; a sister & brother-in-law, Joan (Eugene) Siembor of East Rochester; a brother & sister-in-law, Bill (Michele) Cutro of Pittsford; cousin, Craig Cioffari of Harrison, NY; aunt, Margaret Cioffari of Marmaroneck, NY; many nieces, nephews. Mary was a school teacher in the Rochester, Binghamton, Lawrence, KS and Charlottesville, VA school systems. She also managed sr. citizens housing in several areas including Webster, NY and ran her own business in Fairport.
A Memorial Service for Mary will be held in the Chapel of White Haven Memorial Park on SATURDAY, October 7, 2000 at 9:00 a.m. (no prior calling). Interment at the convenience of the family. He was a First Lieutenant with the U. S. Army Air Corps. He served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater during WWII. He was a recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Purple Heart and many other medals. He was a retiree of Bausch & Lomb.

Selke, Willard C. : July 16, 2004, at age 87. He was predeceased by his wife, Francis. He is survived by his long-time companion, Helen McLaughlin. He is also survived by his sons and daughters-in-law; George and Roberta, Paul, Phil and Maribeth; 7 grandchildren, Kara, Tim, Amy, Dillon, Shane, Grace, and Anna. Willard was a 30-year employee of the US Postal Service and superintendent of the Twelve Corners Branch. He served with the Peace Corps in Brazil from 1973to 1975.

Van Keuren, Col. Darwin: July 14, 2004. Col. Darwin L. Van Keuren was a retiree of the Gleason Works and the USAFR. He was born on June 22, 1916 in Union Grove, Delaware County, NY. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Arlene Terry Van Keuren of Webster; daughter, Linda Handyside of Clifton, NY; son Lt. Col. Edmund Terry Van Keuren (Terri) of Castle Rock, CO. ; grandchildren, Heather Laird (Scott) of KY, EM1 Miles S. Handyside, USN; Seth L. Handyside of AZ and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
