Frederick Person
July 31, 1996
Frederick J. Person Jr., 55, of Bunker Hill Road in Mayfield, died Wednesday at home after a short illness.
Born in Gloversville, Mr. Person was educated in Northville and was a lifelong area resident.
For more than 24 years, he was a laborer for Lee Dye Co. in Gloversville until the onset of illness forced his retirement.
Mr. Person was a member of the National Rifle Association.
He married Elizabeth Fisher Person on April 16, 1960.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, Frederick J. III and James C. Person, both of Gloversville; a daughter, Marjorie M. Lewandowski of Fonda; two brothers, Brian Person of Mayfield and Dennis Person of Wells; a sister, Patricia Handy of Gloversville; his maternal grandmother, Agnes Brooks of Mayfield; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at the Northville Funeral Home, 401 Bridge St. Burial will be in Wells Cemetery.
A calling hour will be prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mary Aquilla
July 30, 1996
Mary G. Aquilla, 92, of Gloversville, died Tuesday at the Fulton County Infirmary, Johnstown, after a short illness.
Born and educated in Gloversville, Mrs. Aquilla was a lifelong area resident. She was a resident of the infirmary since 1989.
Mrs. Aquilla was a communicant of St. Mary and Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church.
She married Ralph E. Aquillas on April 29, 1924. He died March 17.
Survivors include two daughters, Arlene T. Burrell and Rosemarie L. Shear, both of Gloversville; a brother, Alex Ricci of Gloversville; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
A prayer service will be conducted at 9 a.m. Friday at the John W. Finocan Funeral Home, 13 Prospect Ave., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church. Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Johnstown.
Calling hours are from 7 to 9 this evening at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Fulton County Infirmary Auxiliary or the Lexington Foundation in care of the funeral home.
Edward Gardenier
July 20, 1996
A memorial service for Dr. Edward Gardenier, 71, of Amsterdam, will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Cranesville Reformed Church and will be followed by visitation at the Cranesville Volunteer Fire Department, where Mr. Gardenier was a member and past president.
Mr. Gardenier died July 20. Funeral services were conducted in New Jersey earlier this week.
David Belanger
August 1, 1996
David A. Belanger, 43, of 24 N. Second Ave., Broadalbin, died Thursday morning at the Amsterdam Memorial Hospital.
Born July 6, 1953 in Amsterdam, he was the son of Laurence and Laura (Bayes) Belanger. He was a 1972 graduate of Broadalbin High School and received an associate's degree in accounting at Fulton-Montgomery Community College in 1974.
He was formerly employed by Broadalbin Plumbing & Heating and at one time he served as a village police officer in Broadalbin.
He was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church of Broadalbin and was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 7629. He also served as treasurer of the former Broadalbin Civics Club.
He was past president and member of the Broadalbin Fire Company.
Mr. Belanger served at one time as the baseball coach for the Broadalbin Youth Commission.
In addition to his father, he is survived by two brothers, Laurence Belanger of Perth and Robert Belanger of Broadalbin; one sister, Cheryl Sparks of Edinburg, two nephews and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will take place at the Union Mills Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Broadalbin Volunteer Ambulance Corps or to Amsterdam Memorial Hospital.
Arrangements are being made by the Robert M. Halgas Funeral Home, 38 W. Main St., Broadalbin.
Francis Roe
July 31, 1996
Francis J. Roe, 77, of Ballston Lake, died Wednesday at Saratoga Hospital after being stricken.
Born in Worester, Mr. Roe served with the Army Air Forces as a military policeman in England and France during World War II.
For many years, he was a farmer. Later, he was a driver for Coyne Industrial Laundry in Schenectady until retiring.
Mr. Roe was a member of the Ballston Lake Association and the Schenectady Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 357.
His first wife, Frances I. Roe, died in 1993. He later married Dawn Parkhurst Roe.
In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, Christopher Roe of Corinth and Kenneth Roe of Schenectady; three daughters, Mary Ann Resse of Staten Island, Kathleen Sheehan of New Jersey and Elinor Roe of Sioux City, Iowa; two brothers, Jessie D. Roe of Gloversville and Everett Roe of North Carolina; six sisters, Cora Kistler of North Carolina, Eleanor Squires of Rotterdam, Hazel Roe of Cobleskill, and Joyce DeNovio, Barbara Rose, and Dorothy Lobevro, all of Schenectady; 14 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Tunison Funeral Home, 105 Lake Ave., Saratoga Springs.
Burial will be in Eastline Rural Cemetery, Malta.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Daisy Rupert
July 28, 1996
Daisy Rupert, 91, formerly of Johnstown, died Sunday at the Edward L. Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility.
Born in Johnstown, Miss Rupert attended local schools. She moved to the home in 1988.
She was a glove worker at the former Ireland and Cresendoe glove companies of Johnstown, retiring in 1962.
Miss Rupert was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Johnstown.
Survivors include two nieces, Patricia Abbott and Arlene Miller, both of Johnstown.
The service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the A.G. Cole Funeral Home, 215 E. Main St., Johnstown.
A calling hour will precede the service at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Fern Dale Cemetery, Johnstown.
Memorial contributions may be made to charity.
Edward Gardenier

Dr. Edward Gardenier, 71, of Amsterdam, formerly of Montvale, N.J., died July 20 at home.
Born in Montvale, N.J., Dr. Gardenier attended Northampton, Mass., Preparatory School and later the Citadel. He was a cum laude graduate of the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery in 1953. Subsequently, he interned at Brook Army Hospital in Fort Sam Houston, Texas.
During World War II, he served with the Navy and during the Korean War, he served with the Army.
Dr. Gardenier maintained a dental practice in Westwood, N.J., until retiring and moving to Amsterdam to become a tree farmer.
For nearly 20 years, he also was a firefighter in Montvale. He served as chief from 1973 to 1974 and again from 1978 to 1979.
Dr. Gardenier was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars post in Woodcliff Lake, N.J.
Survivors include his wife, Jean Nimmo Gardenier; a daughter, Nancy Jean Gardenier of Amsterdam; and five grandchildren.
Services were held July 24 in New Jersey.
Burial was in Pascack Reformed Church Cemetery, Park Ridge, N.J.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at Cranesville Reformed Church.
Visitation will follow the service at the Cranesville Fire Department.
Memorial contributions may be made to charity.
Arrangements were by the Robert Spearing Funeral Home, Park Ridge.
Alma Fudger
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Evergreen Cemetery in Fonda for Alma Fudger, who died Nov. 5, 1995 in Bisbee, Ariz.
Arrangements are by the Kobuskie-Konik Funeral Home, 147 Bleecker St., Gloversville.
