He was a member of Mickey's Goodtime Coffee Club, Lyncourt Wesleyan Church and American Legion. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. His wife, the former Doris Ennis, died in 1992. Survivors: Three daughters, Dolores Brockwell of Lakeland, Kathryn Pitcher of Liverpool and Karen House of Weedsport; two sons, Howard C. and Kenneth D., both of Syracuse; a sister, Joyce King of Watertown; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren. Ida Sill Rupracht Durgan, 95, formerly of county Route 54, Fulton, died Monday at Sunrise Nursing Home in Oswego. Born in Hastings, she lived in West Monroe most of her life and in Schroeppel before moving to Sunrise in 1993. She graduated from Oswego State Teachers College. She was a schoolteacher at the Central Square Central School District for more than 30 years and also taught at Seventh-day Adventist School in Pulaski. She was a member of New York State Retired Teachers Association and Roosevelt Seventh-day Adventist Church. Her first husband, Millard Rupracht, died in 1974. Survivors: Her husband, Arthur Durgan; two daughters, Lillian Aldridge of Apopka, Fla., and Leona Leonard of Stafford, Va.; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren. Services: 1 p.m. Sunday in Roosevelt Seventh-day Adventist Church. Burial, West Monroe Cemetery. Calling hours, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday in the church, Route 49, Fulton. Ethel Norman Martinez, 72, of Baldwinsville died Wednesday. Born in Queens, she had also lived in Albany and was a winter resident of Largo, Fla. She attended Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School. She was an administrator at Albany Medical Center Hospital for 20 years and was a member of the board and treasurer of Lake Seminole Resort. Survivors: Her husband of 43 years, Vincent J.; a daughter, Wendy Martinez Burke of Baldwinsville; a son, Peter V. of Virginia Beach; five grandchildren. Charles R. Pilger, 83, of 208 Second St., Solvay, died Wednesday. He was born in Syracuse. He retired in 1980 as owner and operator of a Post-Standard circulation franchise after 15 years and had also been an insurance salesman for several companies in the Syracuse area for many years. He was a communicant of St. Cecilia's Church and a member of its Holy Name Society. He was a member of Disabled American Veterans and was an Army Air Forces veteran of World War II. Survivors: His wife of 53 years, the former Ida Ponzo; two daughters, Marcia Liggett of Solvay and Lynn Kielar of Onondaga Hill; two brothers, James of Atlanta and John of Marcellus; a granddaughter. Alexander Leon Popoff, 24, of Syracuse died Wednesday of cystic fibrosis. A life resident of Syracuse, he attended Christian Brothers Academy and St. John Fisher College. He graduated in 2001 from Onondaga Community College. He worked four years at Peter's Grocery on Nottingham Road. He was the Central New York poster child for cystic fibrosis for several years and a member of local rock band John Wayne's Severed Head. His father, Vladimir L., died in 1981.
