Julia J. Harkola Leigh, 87, of 3131 Cherry Valley Road, Marcellus, died Saturday. Born in Syracuse, she lived 67 years in Marcellus. She was a homemaker, a communicant of St. Francis Xavier Church in Marcellus and a member of Otisco Valley Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary in Marietta. Her first husband, Harry Puffett, died in 1939; her second husband, Harold Leigh, died in 1988; a daughter, Patricia Hill, died in 1998. Survivors: Two daughters, Helen Robinson and Nancy Casler, both of Marcellus; a brother, Charles Harkola of Fairmount; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren. Sister M. Judith Leskoske, 81, of Wilson Convent, Syracuse, died Saturday. Born in Syracuse, she graduated from Assumption Academy and received bachelor's and master's degrees from College of St. Rose in Albany. She entered the Sisters of St. Francis in 1944. She was a teacher at several schools, including St. Joseph's School, Bishop Ludden High School and Pen & Pages Tutorial Center, all in Syracuse, and Oswego Catholic School. She was a minister to the elderly in Assumption Parish. She retired in 1990. Survivors: Three sisters, Catherine Guiney of Tupper Lake, Rose M. Pinkasewicz of Camillus and Joan M. Mary Antoniadis Petrides, 80, of Syracuse died Thursday. She was born in Endicott. She retired in 1979 after 18 years as a clerk in the meat department at A&P grocery store. She was a member of St. Sophia's Greek Orthodox Church, the Philoptochos Club and Daughters of Penelope. She was known as Mrs. Pasta Flora for the pans she baked for the Greek Festival. Survivors: Her husband of 56 years, Charles G.; a daughter, Artemis Voudouris of East Syracuse; a son, Constantine of Asheville, N.C.; a sister, Koko Christopher of California; a brother, James Antoniadis of Endicott; two grandchildren. Gladys Shaw Rupracht, 94, formerly of county Route 84, Central Square, died Friday. Born in Canton, she lived most of her life in Central Square before moving to Sunrise Nursing Home in Oswego. She attended business school in Syracuse. She was a piano teacher and child caregiver. She was a member of Constantia Chapter 123 Order of the Eastern Star and a life member of West Monroe United Methodist Church. Her husband, Gordon, died in 1971. Survivors: Two daughters, Jeanne Wettlaufer of Malta and Barbara Rupracht of Central Square; two sons, Robert of Liverpool and Theodore of Central Square; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren. Eunice Farrington Sagehorn, 73, of Fayetteville died Friday at Birchwood Health Care Center, Clay. Born in Syracuse, she graduated from Onondaga Valley Academy. She retired in 1982 after 36 years with New York Telephone Co. She was a member of Telephone Pioneers of America and a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church in Fayetteville. Monsignor Robert F. Lavin, 71, of Syracuse died Saturday at Loretto. Born in Syracuse, he graduated from St. John's Catholic Academy and St. Andrew's and St. Bernard's seminaries in Rochester. He was ordained in 1956 at St. John the Evangelist Church. He was an associate priest at St. Leo's Church in Tully and an assistant pastor at Holy Family, Blessed Sacrament and St. Ann's churches. He became honorary prelate in 1973. He was pastor of St. Stephen's Church in Phoenix, Most Holy Rosary Church and St. Francis Xavier Church in Marcellus before retiring in 1990. He was director of guidance at Bishop Ludden High School for several years, was director of communications for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Syracuse and was instrumental in starting the televised "Mass for Shut-Ins." She was worked at BlueCross BlueShield for several years. She owned and operated Montroy's Opticians in the State Tower Building for 30 years and operated Shady Lane Mobile Homes for several years.
