Rev. Dr. Thomas 'Tom' A. Blowers
The Rev. Dr. Thomas (Tom) A. Blowers, died suddenly at his home in Edinburg, N.Y. December 1, 2003.
He was born August 10, 1941 in Mayfield, NY to Gordon H. and Clara Blowers.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Ellsworth Blowers; a son, Jason Blowers, Edinburg, NY; a daughter, Sarah Blowers, Silver Springs, MD; a sister, Ethel Coleman, Mayfield, NY; a brother, Gordon E. Blowers, Oriental, NC; one grandson, Jason Blowers Jr., Fort Johnson, NY; and several nieces and nephews.
Tom graduated from Mayfield High School in 1959. He attended the New England Conservatory of Music; transferred to Syracuse University, where he received his B.A. in 1964. He earned his master's of divinity from Drew University in 1967. He returned to Drew and earned a doctor of ministry in 1976. Tom was ordained an elder of the United Methodist Church in 1967. During his ministry he served the following churches: Saratoga Springs United Methodist, Schroon Lake Federated, Broadalbin, Albany Street Methodist of Schenectady, Amsterdam, Fisher Methodist of Schenectady and Northville-Edinburg. At the time of his death he was the minister of the Edinburg United Methodist Church.
During his ministry, he had numerous articles published. In 1977, CSS Publishing Company Inc., published his book, "The Follow Through on Follow Me."
Tom was an accomplished classical and jazz pianist, arranger and composer. He often provided music in church and gave many community concerts. Tom built and played an American dulcimer. While in Saratoga Springs, he reviewed the Lake George Opera and Philadelphia Orchestra for the Saratogian.
Tom was known to all as a gentile, compassionate and generous man who never spoke an unkind word about anyone. No person in need was ever turned away from his door. His love of words and music inspired and defined his life and ministry.
A memorial service will be held at the Edinburg United Methodist Church, Sunday, December 28, at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that gifts in Tom's memory can be made to the Whitney M. Young Jr. Health Center, c/o The Cheer Department, 920 Lark Drive, Albany, NY 12207.
Mildred Blowers
Mildred Blowers, 79, formerly of Gloversville, died December 6, 2002 at the Mount Loretto Nursing Home, Amsterdam following a long illness.
Mrs. Blowers was born September 9, 1923 in Mayfield, NY, the daughter of Jacob and Lydia VanSlyke Brower.
She was a graduate of Gloversville High School and had been employed as glove worker by C.J. Bachner Gloves for many years and had retired from Perrella Glove Co. in 1985.
Mrs. Blowers was a member of Fremont St. United Methodist Church in Gloversville.
She was married on July 26, 1945 to Earl Blowers, who died on September 23, 1979.
She is survived by son, Ronald E. Blowers of Gloversville; daughters, Doris A. Garlock of Fairfax, VA and Joan M. Peterson of Denver, CO; sister, Hilda VanNostrand of Mayfield, NY; three grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home Inc., 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, where funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 10, at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Wayne E. Jones Sr. officiating. Interment will take place at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville. Beverly Agneta

Beverly Agneta, age 55, of Gloversville, died Friday at the Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville. Born September 12, 1948 in Gloversville, she was the daughter of Isaac and Rae Gordon Zaleon. She was a graduate of Gloversville High School and received an associate's degree in business from FMCC.
Mrs. Agneta was a life long area resident and was employed as a bank teller for 18 years for the City National Bank of Gloversville.
She was a member of the Knesseth Israel Synagogue, the Hadassah and was the former treasurer of the Gloversville Free Library.
Mrs. Agneta is survived by her son, Neil Agneta of Buffalo, NY; her sister, Donna Long and her husband Thomas of Bakersfield, CA; one niece; two nephews; an aunt; an uncle; and cousins.
The funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. Interment in Knesseth Israel Cemetery, Gloversville. Memorial contributions can be made to the Knesseth Israel Synagogue or the Gloversville Free Library. Arrangements are by the Hollenbeck Funeral Home, 4 Second Ave., Gloversville, NY.
Marguerite L. Fagan Ambrosino
Mrs. Marguerite L. Fagan Ambrosino, age 86, of Summit View Road, Gloversville, died Sunday, November 16, 2003 at home following a long illness.
She was born April 3, 1917 in the town of Ohio, NY, the daughter of Lewis and Carrie Reising Fagan. Marguerite and her family came to Gloversville in 1931, where she later became a 1935 graduate of Gloversville High School.
Mrs. Ambrosino was employed by Berger Leather Co. of Gloversville. She was a member of the Bannertown Senior Citizens Club.
She is survived by six children, Joseph L. Ambrosino and wife Billie of Piseco Lake, NY and Singer Island, FL, David A. Ambrosino and wife Madeline of Gloversville, Robert J. Ambrosino and wife Mary Jo, Terry L. Ambrosino and wife Heidi, all of Mayfield, Joyce A. Smith of Fonda, Susan C. Wilson and husband Denis of Gloversville; son-in-law, Richard Quant of Mayfield; brother, Raymond Fagan of Gloversville; 19 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph M. Ambrosino; daughter, Peggy N. Quant; brothers, Charles, Ralph, and Arthur Fagan; sister, Anna Allen; and grandson, Robert J. Ambrosino II.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home Inc., 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, where a funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Joseph (Joey) Lott
Joseph (Joey) Lott, 21, of Moraga, Calif., died on Nov. 1, 2002, after a motorcycle accident.
He is survived by his mother, Lori Lott, and his father, Ellis (Dave) Lott; sister, Angie Lott; grandmother, Shirley Nankin; grandfather, Sheldon Nankin, all of California; grandmother, Sophie Ottuso of Gloversville; aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Services, arranged by Sinai Memorial Chapel, Lafayette, Calif., were held Nov. 5 at Redwood Chapel at Oakmont Memorial Park, Lafayette. Donations in his memory may be made to The American Motorcycle Assn. or SPCA.
Theresa J. 'Tess' Hindes Rebisz
Theresa J. "Tess" Hindes Rebisz, 77, of Route 349 in Mayfield, went to be with the Lord on Monday evening surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on June 8, 1926 in Mayfield, a daughter of George and Edna Blowers Hindes. As a lifetime resident of Fulton County, she was employed by local industry and was a dedicated volunteer for the Salvation Army.
Tess loved helping others, crocheting, traveling, playing bingo and especially spending time with her family.
A devoted wife for 56 years, she married Joseph Edward Rebisz of Broadalbin on June 8, 1947, who went to heaven on August 29.
A loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she leaves behind four children, Joseph Rebisz Jr. of Perry, Kathleen Anderson of Salem, Wisconsin, Roxanne Monster of Dansville and Bonita Wollard of Johnstown; eleven grandchildren, John, Kimberly, Christine, Rene, E.J., Troy, Joseph, Joshua, Tracy, Ryan and Matthew; four great-grandchildren, Cody, Cassidy, Rory and Braden.
Other survivors include longtime friend and caregiver, Dorothy Smits; three sisters, Sylvia Gale, Beverly Morey and Irene Korkus; four brothers, Ray Hindes, Howard Hindes, Elwood Andrest and Ralph Andrest and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents; stepfather, Walter Andrest; sisters, Mary Fisher, Carolyn Morey, Emma Andrest, Geraldine Hindes, Louise Falacco and Beatrice Dingman; brothers, Cecil Hindes and William Andrest.
A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Broadalbin Union Rural Cemetery with Pastor Doug Blanc officiating. Interment will take place at Broadalbin Union Rural Cemetery, Broadalbin. Memorial contributions may be made to the Amsterdam Dialysis Center, 1810 Riverfront Center, Amsterdam, NY 12010. Arrangements are by Jeffords & Stewart Funeral Home, 85 W. Main St., Broadalbin.
Catherine M. Doyle Frascatore
Mrs. Catherine M. Doyle Frascatore, 76, a former Gloversville resident, died November 3, 2002, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Burbank, CA. Her death followed a short illness.
She was born August 24, 1926, in Ballston Spa, N.Y., the daughter of Peter and Anna Lane Doyle. She was a 1944 graduate of Gloversville High School, and also graduated from SUNY Cobleskill in 1946. In 1950, she married John Frascatore. They later moved to Burbank, where she was a member of St. Francis Church.
Mrs. Frascatore is survived by two sons, John Frascatore and Michael Frascatore, both of Burbank; a sister, Anna LaMantia of Gloversville; a granddaughter, Ruby Frascatore of Burbank; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and aunts.
She was predeceased by her husband, John, as well as by her brothers, Peter Doyle and Francis Doyle.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated November 30 at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, Gloversville, the Rev. David L. Tressic will be celebrant. Interment took place at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Hollywood, CA. Memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 73 N. Main St., Gloversville, N.Y. 12078. Jennifer Maureen Gundersen Gray
Jennifer Maureen Gundersen Gray of Gulf Breeze, Fla., age 34, born January 29, 1968, died on November 4, 2002, after a long seven-year battle with cancer.
She attended Tate High School, Gulf Breeze High School and graduated from the School of Cosmetology at Pensacola Junior College.
She leaves behind her husband and best friend, Robert Neele Gray Sr.; and her precious only child, Robert Neele Gray Jr. She knows he will do great things with his life. She is also survived by her mother, Judy McDonald of Gulf Breeze, who raised her to be independent and strong; her father, Ed Gundersen and his wife, Peggy Gundersen of Gloversville, New York; her brother, Lance Gundersen and his wife, Elizabeth and niece, Sarah Gundersen, nephews Lance Gundersen III, Jacob Gundersen and Nicholas Gundersen, also of Gloversville, N.Y.; her mother- and father-in-law, Charles and Clara Gray of Gulf Breeze, who loved her like their own child and called her "My Jennifer"; her sister-in-law, Karen Gray Meister, who was more than just a sister-in-law, and her husband, Mark Meister, who employs Robert and made sure he was able to be there for Jennifer, both of Gulf Breeze; her brother-in-law Charls C. Gray Jr. (Skip) and his wife, Kris of Pratville, Alabama; and all her precious nephews, Brian Meister, Adam Meister, Daniel Meister, of Gulf Breeze; and Jae Gray and Lee Gray of Prattville, Alabama. She leaves behind also her best friend Julie Behrens Ammaturo of Orlando/Almonte Springs, Fla. Jennifer also leaves her aunt and uncle, Rita McDonald Dickson and Dave Dickson of Lusby, Maryland; cousins Sean and Jeff Dickson of Pennsylvania and their families; Uncle Thomas McDonald and wife, Kathleen; cousins Melissa, Christine and Zak McDonald of Naplerville, IL.; her uncle Douglas McDonald and wife, Erica of Virginia; and grandparents Bill and Agnes McDonald of Lusby, Md.
Jennifer was a cosmotologist for fifteen years in the Gulf Breeze/Pensacola area and enjoyed her profession and her clients until the end. She still consulted with them by computer even when bedridden.
She especially thanks Jeff and Ellen Hunt, owners of Headhunter's Salon in downtown Pensacola for their many acts of kindness to her over the years. She also thanks the wonderful staff and shop clients who were always supportive of her. She worked there for ten years and it was a pleasure to go to work as her co-workers were like family. She thanks the doctors, Anita Westafer and Allen Patton and the staff at Baptist Hospital Oncology.
A memorial service was held at the Gulf Breeze United Methodist Church on Thursday, November 7th, at 3:30 p.m. The Rev. Mac Strange officiated.
In lieu of flowers, Jennifer asks that memorial gifts be made to the Jennifer Gray Fund for the Education of her son, Neele Gray. The fund is managed by her sister-in-law, Karen Meister, Banking Professional at the Bank of America, 100 W. Garden Street, Pensacola, FL. She was not afraid of death for she knew it was the great reward that Heaven would be. She always said, "Dealth was harder for the living." She can rest and be comfortable and pain-free for all eternity. Goodbye, my Jennifer.
Valeria Hlozansky Mihalik
Valeria Hlozansky Mihalik, 78, of Cresendoe Road, Johnstown, died Monday night, Nov. 18, at the Fulton County Residential Health Care Facility after a long illness. She was born on July 3, 1924, in Johnstown, N.Y., the daughter of Stansilov and Pauline Simek Holzansky.
She attended Johnstown High School and later worked as a glove worker at Swears Glove Co. and Johnstown Knitting Mill. She worked last with her husband in the family leather buisiness.
She was a member of St. Anthony's Church as well as a member of the Johnstown Womens Sokol Lodge No. 33W.
She married John G. Mihalik on July 12, 1943. He died June 20, 1997.
She is survived by two daughters, Diane Spawn and Linda M. Keeler, both of Johnstown; a son, John D. Mihalik of Johnstown; four grandchildren, Jennifer and Rebecca Miller, Lukas and Adam Keeler; four great-grandchildren Brandon and Holly Kaczor, Taylor and Cameron Miller; a sister, Mildred Busch of Caroga Lake; a brother, Steve Hlozansky of Bruinswick, Ga.; nieces, nephews and cousins. She is predeceased by two brothers, John and George Hlozansky.
Calling hours will be Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Barter & Donnan Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian burial will be on Friday at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony's Church, Johnstown with the Rev. James Fitzmaurice, pastor of the Johnstown Catholic community, as celebrant. Jeremy S. Berry
Jeremy S. Berry, 25, of County Highway 155, Broadalbin, died Tuesday morning, November 19, 2002, at Ellis Hospital, Schenectady.
He was born January 6, 1977, in Stoughton, MA, the son of Irving and Cathyann Oberg Berry. He was educated in Oppenheim-Ephratah schools and was a graduate of the Gloversville High School. He later served in the Army from 1997 to 1999, specializing in Tank Mechanics. Jeremy was employed at several area businesses including Kasson & Keller, Farm & Family Center, Alpin Haus, and as a direct care coordinator at Lexington Center. He worked as a chef at the Pine Tree Restaurant, Broadalbin, at the time of his unexpected illness and death.
Mr. Berry was a member of Willard Camp No. 154 Albany of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, where he was a past chaplain. He was a former member of the Third Tryon Militia.
He is survived by his fiancee, Angela Trindell of Broadalbin; mother Cathyann Oberg of Esperance; son Scott B.R. Berry of Utah; daughter Shyanne B. Berry of Broadalbin; brother Edward M. Berry of Amsterdam; maternal grandfather William H. Oberg of New London, N.H.; as well as several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was predeceased by his father, Irving H. Berry and by a brother, Arthur Berry.

Benedetto J. Leo
Benedetto J. Leo of Caroga Lake, formerly of Malverne, Long Island, died on Nov. 17, 2002.
Beloved husband of the late Marguerite and the late Anabelle. Loving father of Rosemary Leo Pappas of Caroga Lake. Dear grandfather of 5 and great-grandfather of 5. Cherished brother of Martha Benvenuto.
A funeral Mass was celebrated on Nov. 21 at Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church in Malverne, Long Island. Interment was at Greenfield Cemetery in Hemstead, Long Island.
Michael T. Muller
Michael T. Muller, of Mableton, GA, passed away Monday, November 18, 2002. He was born August 3, 1957, in Rockeville Center, L.I. and grew up in Smithtown. He was a resident of Johnstown, N.Y. before residing in Georgia.
Michael graduated from St. Patrick's School, Smithtown; Holy Family H.S., Huntington Station; and Delhi College.
Michael worked in a managerial capacity in the food service industry, followed by a sales route position, and later as a technician in security installation.
He is survived by his parents, Henry and Mary Muller, of Palmyra, VA; brothers John and William Muller of GA; sisters Linda Flory of GA and Susan Parisella of Schenectady, N.Y.; nephew Jack Parisella; and uncles Robert D. Ryan and Edward A. Muller.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 23, 2002, at noon at the Woodstock Funeral Home, 8855 Main Street, Woodstock, Georgia.
Ryan K. Topliff
Ryan K. Topliff, 21, of Edinburg, died Wednesday as a result of a motor vehicle accident. Born in Gloversville, December 15, 1980, he is the son of Kenneth C. Topliff of Mayfield and Susan Kay Johnson Sparks of Gloversville. Mr. Topliff was a 1999 graduate of Mayfield High School, where he played basketball and soccer, and also attended Fulton-Montgomery Community College. He was a member of the North Main Street Methodist Church. Ryan loved children and animals, and enjoyed swimming and snowmobiles. He liked helping others and was happiest when everyone else was happy. In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother, Jason Topliff of Mayfield; his maternal grandmother, Pearl Osterkamp Johnson of Kansas and the late Almo Johnson; his paternal grandparents, Franklyn and Beatrice Topliff of Gloversville; his companion Katrina Farrington of Edinburg; aunts, uncles and cousins.
A memorial service will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at North Main Street United Methodist Church with Reverand Christopher Hamm, pastor, officiating. A gathering for fellowship and sharing will immediately follow in the church hall.
There will be no calling hours. Cremation will take place at Parkview Crematory, Schenectady. Expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to the Ryan Topliff Scholarship Fund, C/O City National Bank, 10 North Main Street, Gloversville. Josephine "Jo" Hersey Van Alstyne
Mrs. Josephine "Jo" Hersey Van Alstyne, 60, of State Highway 29, Johnstown, N.Y., died November 22, 2002, at Ellis Hospital, Schenectady, N.Y.
She was born April 28, 1942, in Galway, the daughter of Louis and Mabel Haines Hersey. She was a graduate of Galway Central School, and later graduated from the former Nathan Littauer School of Nursing in 1964. She was employed as a registered nurse at the former Johnstown Hospital until it closed, and retired from the Fulton County Infirmary in 1994 due to a disability.
Mrs. Van Alstyne enjoyed arts and crafts, needlepoint, crossword puzzles and reading.
Survivors include her husband David Van Alstyne, whom she married August 6, 1965. Also surviving are two sons, David B. Van Alstyne and Michael A. Van Alstyne, both of Gloversville; two brothers, Hank Hersey and Donald Hersey, both of Galway; a sister, Jackie Hayes of Corinth; three grandchildren, Spencer, Jeremy, and Tabatha Van Alstyne; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins.
There will be no visitation or services. Cremation will take place at Park View Crematorium, Schenectady. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Research Hospital, P.O. Gerald R. Ambridge
Mr. Gerald R. Ambridge, age 55 of Gloversville, died Tuesday, November 22, 2005 at Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville, following a short illness.
He was born March 23, 1950 in Amsterdam, the son of the late Richard Ambridge and Leila Wells Ambridge. He was educated in Gloversville schools, and worked most of his life at various leather finishing firms in the Fulton County area. At the time of his death, he and his wife Dawn were the co-owners of Glen's Tavern in Gloversville.
Gerald was an avid Harley-Davidson motorcycle rider. He was a member of the Johnstown Eagles Aerie.
Gerald is survived by his wife, Dawn Mosher Richardson Ambridge of Gloversville, whom he married on August 25, 2001; his mother, Leila Wells of Conway, NC; two daughters, Tammy Tesiero and her husband Jay Tesiero of Johnstown and Jennifer Ambridge of Mayfield; two stepchildren, Jeffrey Richardson of Merritt Island, FL and CandiJo Richardson of Gloversville; a brother, Thomas Ambridge of Loris, SC; a sister, Diana Carrese of Gloversville; and two grandchildren, Brookelynn Richardson and Jacob Richardson of Gloversville. He was predeceased by his brother Richard Ambridge.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM Friday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St; Gloversville, where a funeral service will be held at 10:00 am Saturday with the Rev. R. W. Williams officiating. Interment with Balloon Release will take place at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to Toys for Tots.
Anna Strocco Cuttica
Anna Strocco Cuttica, 83, of James Street, Johnstown, died Thursday evening at Nathan Littauer Hospital after a long illness.
She was born Dec. 25, 1918 in New York City, N.Y., the daughter of Dominico and G. Virginia Cella Strocco.
Mrs. Cuttica attended Washington Irving High School in New York City and attended secretarial school.
Mrs. Cuttica enjoyed raising her family and being a homemaker.
She was a member of St. Patrick's Church.
Mrs. Cuttica also was a member of the Johnstown Historical Society, Fulton County Historical Society and the Foothills Rag Doll Club.
She co-founded St. Patrick's Craft Fair.
She married Hercules (Ercole) C. Cuttica June 22, 1941.
Mrs. Cuttica is survived by her husband, Hercules (Ercole) Cuttica; one daughter, Louise Fornabaio of Newton, Conn.; two sons, John Cuttica of Hindsdale, Ill., and Paul Cuttica of Johnstown; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at noon Monday, Nov. 25, 2002 at St. Patrick's Church, Johnstown. The Rev. James Fitzmaurice, pastor of St. Patrick's Church will be the celebrant.
Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Johnstown.
Calling hours will be 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Barter & Donnan Funeral Home, 11 N. Melcher St., Johnstown.

Richard R. Van Antwerp
Mr. Richard R. Van Antwerp, 83, of Hickory Hill Road, Sand Flats, Fonda, died Friday evening at St. Mary's Hospital after a long illness.
Born on April 10, 1919 in Fonda, N.Y., he was the son of Arthur and Emma Edick Van Antwerp. He attended Fonda schools and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Mr. Van Antwerp was employed for the New York State Highway Department, the New York Railroad and last worked for the White Mop Wringer Company in Fultonville for 33 years, retiring in 1987.
He attended the Fonda Reformed Church.
Mr. Van Antwerp is survived by his wife, the former Evelyn Oare, whom he married on Aug. 16, 1947; a daughter, Donna Van Antwerp of Fonda; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by two sisters, Eleanor Van Antwerp and Ruth Oare, a brother, Carlton Van Antwerp.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Jackson & Betz Funeral Home Inc., 15 Main St., Fultonville, N.Y., with the Rev. Jack Millard officiating. Burial will take place at the Evergreen Cemetery, Sand Flats. The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. A Candlelight Legacy Ceremony will be held that evening at 7:30 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Dick's memory to a charity of one's choice.
