Roger G. Moreland, 84, of Fayetteville died Thursday. Born in Utica, he graduated in 1938 from Syracuse University. He retired in 1982 after 36 years as partner and owner of Ellis Moreland and Ellis Insurance Agency. He was named Junior Chamber of Commerce Man of the Year in 1953. He was active in the vestry at St. Paul's Cathedral, served on the board of directors at Woodlawn Cemetery and was past president of the Independent Insurance Agents Association. He was an Army veteran of World War II. His first wife, the former Jean Morrison, died in 1974; his second wife, the former Althea Cook, died in 1992; a son, Gregory, died in 1993. Survivors: His wife, Mildred Koch Franklin; a daughter, Nancy Moreland Ballagh of North Rose; two sons, John G. of Syracuse and Roger M. of Baldwinsville; four stepdaughters, Nancy Finch of Syracuse, Laurel Mulvihill of Manlius, Darryl McLean of Cazenovia and Susan Hoople of North Conway, N.H.; four stepsons, Mark Franklin of Jamesville, Andrew Franklin of Cohasset, Mass., John Cook of Seattle and Fred Cook of Peekskill; seven grandchildren; 28 step-grandchildren. MariaLaura Vecchiarelli Pallotta, 83, of 644 E. Division St., Syracuse, died Thursday. Born in Italy, she lived in Syracuse since 1960. She worked at Goldberg's and Julius Resnick Pocketbook Factory. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Pompei Church and a member of the St. Joseph's and St. Anthony's societies and Our Lady of Pompei Senior Citizens. Her husband, Giacomantonio, died in 1982. Michael Snihur, 84, of 135 Washington St., Auburn, died Friday. He was born in Syracuse. He retired in 1980 as owner of Dashur Beverages. He was a communicant of Ss. Peter & Paul Church, Auburn, a charter member of the Ostas Council of Knights of Columbus and a member of the Sicz Club and the Providence Society. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He retired in 1998 after 20 years as a codes enforcement officer for the city of Oneida. He was a member of the Canastota Civic Club and a member and past president of the New York State Building Officials Conference.
