Helen E. Bowen
ORISKANY — A graveside committal service for Helen E. Bowen, 96, of Oriskany and formerly of Cooperstown, who died March 4, 2004, will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 27, 2004, in the Westville Cemetery, with the Rev. Herbert B. Bowen, officiating. Otsego-Hartwick-Arbutus Chapter 201, Order of the Eastern Star, will also conduct a memorial service at graveside.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Connell, Dow & Deysenroth Funeral Home in Cooperstown.
Kayla Lynn Doroski
HARTWICK — A graveside committal service for Kayla Lynn Doroski, 14, who died March 13, 2004, will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 28, 2004, in the Hartwick Cemetery with Pastor Kenneth Brookens, pastor of The Living Water Faith Fellowship, officiating.

Todd A. Larsen
EDMESTON — A memorial service to celebrate the life of Todd A. Larsen, 37, who passed away Dec. 26, 2003, in Georgia, will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 29, 2004, at the Second Baptist Church in Edmeston. Pastors Jay Noll, Jay P. Henderson and John Blackman will officiate.
The family will be available at 10 a.m. until service time to meet with guests.

RICHFIELD SPRINGS — A graveside committal service for Stanley V. Petkewec, 86, who passed away on Dec. 23, 2003, will be held on Tuesday, May 25, 2004, at 2 p.m. in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Richfield Springs. Everyone is invited to attend.

Howard S. Marlette
MOUNT VISION — Howard S. Marlette, 81, of Mount Vision died early Sunday morning, May 23, 2004, at the A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital in Oneonta.
Howard was born on Oct. 28, 1922, at the Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown, a son of G. Gilbert and Elizabeth (Field) Marlette.
He married Diana Harrington on Oct. 7, 1945, in the Christian Church in Hartwick.
Raised in Mount Vision on the family farm, Howard graduated from Hartwick High School. He was then employed in many dairy-related jobs in the area, including hauling milk and feed, before entering a farming partnership with his brother, Kendall Marlette.
In 1957, following their father's death, Kendall took over the Mount Vision G.L.F. store (H.H. Marlette & Son), which his father had owned, and Howard took on the ownership and operation of the dairy farm on State Highway 205, retiring in 1984.
Howard was actively involved in many local, regional and state organizations relating to the betterment of the agricultural community. These include the Dairyman's League, the Farm Bureau, the Otego Valley Grange No. 1327, Rural Electrification Association (REA) and the Cornell Cooperative Extension.
An active 68-year member of the Mount Vision United Methodist Church, he held many positions throughout the years, and was currently serving as the Charge Treasurer and Chairman of the Administrative Board. He was also the current president of the Mount Vision Cemetery Association, and had served from 1967 until 1990, on the Regional Board of the National Bank and Trust Company.
Howard thoroughly enjoyed being a director and associating with the administrative staff of Otsego Electric Cooperative, Inc. for 37 years. He has served as President of the Board of Directors since 1992, and was looking forward to the 60th Anniversary celebration that is scheduled for this summer. Because of his active involvement in this organization, he has served on the NRECA Region I Committee for many years. He has been president of the NYS Rural Electric Cooperative Association since 1986. The highlight of his co-op career came when he was honored with the George D. Aiken Award in 2002.
Howard was a loving and caring son, husband, father, grandfather and uncle. These close family ties will always be cherished by his loved ones.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Diana, of Mount Vision; three daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl and Arne Christensen of LaGrangeville, Mary and James Crouthamel of Sussex, N.J., and Jeanne and Richard Stalker of Clinton Corners; six grandchildren, Eric Christensen and his wife, Allison, Mark Christensen, Kerri and Kelly Crouthamel, and John and Michael Stalker; and two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Bernice Marlette of Mount Vision, and Mrs. Thelma Lally and her husband, Kenneth of Schenectady; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his brother, Kendall Carfield Marlette, who died on Feb. 19, 2001.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 26, 2004, at the Mount Vision United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Roger G. Yoder, pastor officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Vision Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Connell, Dow & Deysenroth Funeral Home, 82 Chestnut St., Cooperstown, from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 25, 2004, when Howard's family will be in attendance.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in the form of memorial gifts may be made to the Memorial Fund of the Mount Vision United Methodist Church, PO Box 576, Mount Vision, NY 13810 or Otsego Electric Cooperative for a scholarship to be established in Howard's memory, PO Box 128, Hartwick, NY 13348.

Kenneth A. Jones
MORRIS — Kenneth A. Jones, 89, of Morris and Oneonta, and previously of Arcadia Fla., died Friday, May 21, 2004, at the New York State Veterans Home in Oxford.
Ken was born Jan. 13, 1915, in Londonderry, Vt., the son of LaFayette D. and Alla B. (Crossman) Jones.
Kenneth married Mabel T. Jones on Oct. 4, 1942, in the Baptist Church of Morris.
Ken was a World War II veteran, entering the service of the United States Army on Jan. 2, 1943. After basic training in North Carolina, he was sent to Australia, New Guinea, and then was involved in the invasion of the Philippines. He left to return home on points (105), and was discharged on Sept. 2, 1945.
Ken was employed for many years by the I.L. Richer Co. of New Berlin, as a carpenter. He also worked at TACO in New Berlin, and Gilbert Lake State Park in New Lisbon.
He was a member of the V.F.W. of Morris and the American Legion Post 2824 of Arcadia.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mabel, of Oneonta; three sons, Donald Jones and wife Sandy of Morris, Robert Jones and wife Lois of New Berlin, and Harold Jones and wife Bai of Thailand. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Diana Tobias of Alabama, Julie Lawton of Alabama, Donna Brown of Iowa, David Jones, Timothy Jones, and Richard Jones all of Florida, Joyce Chase, Jennifer Jones, Michael Jones and Bradley Jones, all of Morris; 10 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by one son, Richard Jones, and all four of his siblings, Harold Jones, Charles Jones, Ethel Jones and Mildred Rowe.
Thanks to the entire staff at the New York State Veterans Home in Oxford, and special thanks for the nurses and aides in Oak Cottage, for the excellent care that he was given, while he was there. Also much gratitude to the Catskill Area Hospice for their care before his admittance into the veterans home.
It was Ken's wishes that no services be held and that his ashes be scattered in the Hillington Cemetery.

Michael A. Wilson
UNADILLA — Michael A. Wilson, 52, of Unadilla passed away Saturday, May 22, 2004, at The Hospital, Sidney.
He was born June 24, 1951, in Spangler, Pa., the son of William and Verna (Johnson) Wilson.
He was a graduate of Unatego Central School and SUNY Delhi. He operated a heating and plumbing business in Unadilla for a number of years, was an instructor in the Applied Technology Division of SUNY Delhi, Supervisor of the Wastewater Treatment Plant in Delhi and was a former trustee of the Village of Unadilla.
Michael was an active volunteer in several youth groups throughout the years and was a referee in many basketball programs.
He will be greatly missed and remembered forever by his family and friends. Michael loved teaching the younger generation with forming their skills toward their future. He loved the family camp in the Thousand Islands and deeply loved his grandchildren. Everyone will remember his sense of humor.
Michael is survived by his wife, Deborah J. Wilson, of Unadilla; his daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Brooks Reed of Unadilla; his sons and daughter-in-law, Jamie and Corinne Wilson of Oneonta, and Josh Wilson of Unadilla; his mother, Verna Wilson of Lake Worth, Fla.; his brother, Mark Wilson of Ontario; his sisters and brother-in-law, Debbie and Thomas McElroy of Lake Worth, Fla., Suzanne Wilson of Oneonta and Lisa Wilson of Lake Worth, Fla.; and grandchildren, Tanner and Taylor Reed of Unadilla. Also survived by two nieces and two nephews.
He was predeceased by his father, William Wilson.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 26, 2004, at the Westcott Funeral Home Inc., 123 Main St., Unadilla, (directly off Exit 10 of I-88). The Rev. Allen L. Presby, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Unadilla, will officiate.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 25, 2004, when the family will be in attendance.

Dorothy A. Buddle
SPRINGFIELD CENTER — Mrs. Dorothy A. Buddle, 84, passed away Friday, May 21, 2004, at her home, with her loving family at her side.
She was born Dec. 29, 1919, in Roseboom, the daughter of Frank and Hilda (Morton) Oakes.
On March 16, 1940, she married Frank W. Buddle. He predeceased her May 6, 1991.
Dorothy enjoyed spending time with her family, especially dining out. She also took pleasure from her cat, Tiger.
She cared for her uncle, Charles Oakes, and mother, Hilda Oakes in her home for many years. She had also been employed by Springfield Central School, Bassett Hospital, Cary Meade Farm and Beechnut.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Allan and Ann Buddle of Interlaken, and Wesley and Linda Buddle of Cooperstown; two daughters, Barbara Buddle of Springfield Center, and Christine Buddle of Springfield Center; two sisters-in-law, Muriel Young of East Springfield, and Marjorie Buddle of Richfield Springs; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by a brother, Robert Oakes.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 26, 2004, at 11 a.m. in the Ottman Funeral Home, Cherry Valley, with the Rev. Ron Fralick officiating. Burial will follow in the Springfield Center Cemetery, Springfield Center.
Contributions in Mrs. Buddle's memory may be made to the Catskill Area Hospice, 542 Main St., Oneonta, NY 13820.

Anthony Scanlon
SIDNEY — Anthony Scanlon, 33, of Sidney passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, May 22, 2004, in Coventry.
He was born Nov. 29, 1970, in Sidney. Tony attended Sidney Central School and had earned his GED this year.
He was employed by MAMCO in Oneonta as machine operator.
Tony enjoyed hunting, fishing and skeet shooting. He loved to spend time with family and friends.
He is survived by his grandmother, Hanna Scanlon, Sidney; mother, Barbara (Scanlon) Wilson, Bainbridge; brother, David and Bonnie Scanlon, Sidney; 13- year companion, Priscilla Mitchell, Sidney; and her children, Cassandra Crisell, Oneonta, Daniel Mitchell, Sidney, and Thomas Brown Jr., Sidney. His dog, Tate; aunts, uncles, cousins; and many friends also survive him.
He was predeceased by his grandfather, John Scanlon Jr.; great-grandparents, Maria and Gottlieb Ackeret; and uncle, Gottlieb Ackeret Jr.
Friends may call Tuesday, May 25, 2004, from noon to 2 p.m. at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Sidney.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Delaware Valley Humane Society, 101 East Main St., Sidney or the charity of one's choice.

Helen Cook
WORCESTER — Helen Cook, 87, passed away Friday, May 21, 2004, at her residence.
She was born on May 7, 1917, in Schenectady, the daughter of John and Malvina Garrett.
She married Otho Cook on July 29, 1937. He predeceased her on Sept. 1, 1981. Helen was a lifelong area resident.
She is survived by two daughters, Barbara and husband John Rifenburgh of West Davenport, and Carol Johnson of Athens; two sons, Henry and wife Linda Cook, of Portlandville, and Leland Cook of Utah; 16 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two nieces.
She was predeceased by a son, John Cook.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 27, 2004, at the E.J. Skinner Co. Funeral Chapel, 155 Main St., Worcester, with the Rev. Judith A. Thistle, pastor of the Worcester Second Baptist Church, officiating. Calling hours will be from noon until the service time. Burial will follow at the East Worcester Lower Cemetery.
Contributions may be made in loving memory of Helen to the Catskill Area Hospice, 542 Main St., Oneonta.

ONEONTA — Carl D. Danielson, 80, of Oneonta passed away Friday, May 21, 2004, at his residence, with his family by his side.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 25, 2004, at 11 a.m. in the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oneonta, with the Rev. Eileen Cornwell, pastor of the Elm Park United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in the Oneonta Plains Cemetery, Oneonta.

Charles J. Dunne
WORCESTER — Charles J. Dunne, 85, passed away Dec. 26, 2003.
He is survived by a son, William; daughters, Patricia Fiederer and Regina Peterson; grandchildren, Herbert and James Fiederer, Deborah Fiederer Saleski, Charles, Stephan and William Peterson. He is the uncle of Helene Weber Sellick; and the great-grandfather of nine.
He was predeceased by his wife, Rose Rooney Dunne.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 29, 2004, at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Worcester, with the Rev. Edward Golding as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Worcester, with full military honors presented by the Worcester American Legion Post 1584.
