Barbara J. Winn
ONEONTA — Barbara J. Winn, 70, passed away Monday, April 26, 2004, at her home.
She was born Aug. 28, 1933, in Oneonta, the daughter of David J. and Maebert (Chapman) Bell.
She married Alfred Winn on Feb. 21, 1954, in Oneonta. He predeceased her on Aug. 22, 2000.
Mrs. Winn devoted her life to her family. She was the most loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed camping, gardening, watching her birds, watching the New York Mets and game nights with her family.
She is survived by her children, Lou Ann Harrison of Oneonta, Karen (Michael) Syron of Oneonta, James (Roseanne) Winn of Bainbridge, Robert (Jo-Ann) Winn of Oneonta, Analee (Harry) Johnson of Oneonta, Marilyn "Mary" Winn of Oneonta; grandchildren, Brian and Nicole Harrison of Oneonta, Erin Syron of Oneonta, Derek and Andrew Winn of Bainbridge, Kristin and Alex Winn of Oneonta, Matthew and Douglas Johnson of Oneonta; great-grandson, Aiden Harrison; brothers and sisters, James Clifford (Ruth) Bell of Oneonta, William (Phyllis) Bell of Oneonta, Laura (Ben) Haney of Franklin; brother-in-law, George Winn of Sopchoppy, Fla.; and two sisters-in-law, Lois Bell of DeLand, Fla., and Carol Taylor of Cooperstown; special friends, Nancy Lopez-Mena, Amber Forbes, Marilyn Rosas and family; and the family pet, Shelby.
She was predeceased by her parents; a sister, Dorothy (Bell) and her husband, John Winn; a brother, David O. Bell; four brothers-in-law, Hugh, Marty, Thomas and Peter Winn; and two sisters-in-law, Margaret Edwards and Winifred Winn.
Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 29, 2004, at the Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home, 51 Dietz St., Oneonta.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 30, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Eileen J. Cornwell, pastor of the Elm Park United Methodist Church, Oneonta, officiating. Burial will follow at the Oneonta Plains Cemetery.
Contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, 25 River St., Oneonta, NY 13820.

Luna L. Mattice
EAST WORCESTER — Luna L. Mattice, 90, passed away Sunday, April 25, 2004, at the A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital, Oneonta.
She was born Jan. 1, 1914, in East Worcester, the daughter of Edwin and Sarah (Quiel) Mattice.
She was a lifelong resident of East Worcester. She was a member of the East Worcester United Methodist Church and was employed at General Electric in Schenectady for 35 years.
Survivors include two nieces; two nephews and several grandnieces and grandnephews.
She was predeceased by her two brothers, William and Herman Mattice.
A graveside service will be held 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 1, 2004, at the East Worcester Cemetery, State Highway 7, with the Rev. Susan Strang officiating.
Contributions may be made to the East Worcester United Methodist Church or East Worcester Fire Department.
Arrangements are by the E.J. Skinner Co., 155 Main St., Worcester.
Donald Townsend
ONEONTA — Graveside committal services with military honors for Donald C. Townsend, 84, of Oneonta, who died Monday, March 8, 2004, will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 30, 2004, in the West Oneonta Cemetery, West Oneonta.
Funeral arrangements are by the Bookhout Funeral Home of Oneonta.

BLOOMVILLE CENTER — A graveside service will be held for Walter J. Davis at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 1, 2004, at Riverside Cemetery, Bloomville Center. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.

Richard H. Farley
DELHI — Richard H. Farley, 76, former Delaware County Judge, passed away peacefully, Monday morning, April 26, 2004, at his home.
The son of the late Henry Y. and Helen Mary (Houghton) Farley, he was born July 8, 1927, in Jersey City, N.J., served as a United States Navy aviator in the Pacific during World War II, married Carol Courtney (1950) and, later, Monique Rabeler (1974).
He received his law degree from Cornell University, was admitted to the New York Bar, practiced law in Brooklyn for a brief period, coming to Delhi in 1953, where he was in partnership with the late Robert L. Bishop, subsequently establishing his own private law practice.
In 1971, then NY State Governor Nelson Rockefeller appointed Mr. Farley as Delaware County Judge, to complete the un-expired term of the late Honorable Walter L. Terry. In 1972, "Dick" was nominated Delaware County Republican candidate, successfully elected, and served as Judge of the County, Family and Surrogate Courts for 10 years. Thereafter, he was continually engaged in law until the time of his death.
Active in the Masonic fraternity for many years, he was past-master (1964) of Delhi Lodge No. 439, F.&A.M., serving as District Deputy Grand Master of the Delaware District (1973), and held memberships in the Scottish Rite Council Chapter Consistory, Valley of Binghamton, and Chapter No. 277, Royal Arch Masons. He was also a member and past-president of Delhi Kiwanis Club; Donald W. Gleason Post No. 190, American Legion; and V.F.W. Post No. 10550.
Through the years, Dick thoroughly enjoyed maintaining and flying his plane, golf, hunting, and could often be found with a cup of coffee at the Delhi Diner.
Surviving are his wife, Monique R. Farley, at home; his children, Barbara J. (Kevin) Kendall of Oneonta, Mark R. Farley of Delhi, Renee C. (Robert) Coles of Morehead City, N.C., Yvonne C. (James) Conway of Chapel Hill, S.C., and Charisse C. (Seth) Phelps of Jacksonville, Fla.; grandchildren, Michael P. Kendall of Albany, Alicia L. Kendall (and fiance, Adam Gordon Lewis), of Easton, Pa., Robert E. Coles and William A. Coles, both of Morehead City, N.C.; a brother, Warren (Lorraine) Farley, Fort Pierce, Fla.; and three nephews.
He was predeceased by a son, Richard E., and daughter, Linda E. Farley.
Friends are invited to attend Masonic memorial services, American Legion military honors, and share in personal stories of remembrance, at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 1, at the United Ministry of Delhi, where a reception with the family present, will follow.

Madeline Baird
BAINBRIDGE — Madeline Baird, 89, of Bainbridge passed away Tuesday, April 27, 2004, at The Hospital in Sidney.
She was born Dec. 31, 1914, daughter of the late Raymond and Mabel (Collington) Baird in Harpursville.
Madeline moved to Bainbridge and worked for F.L. Darling and Swart-Corbin in the insurance business.
She was married to Vernon Greene. She was a member and held office at O.E.S. Bainbridge-Afton No. 359, Bainbridge Alumni Association, and her church, the First Presbyterian Church in Bainbridge.
She is survived by her longtime friend and companion, Marion Swart, Bainbridge; relative, Harry L. Jones, and his wife of Harpursville; and cousins from out of state.
Friends may call Thursday, April 29, 2004, from 6 to 8 p.m. at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney.
Funeral services will be held Friday, at the First Presbyterian Church of Bainbridge at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Douglas Horne officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Bainbridge.
Memorial contributions may be made to her church, the First Presbyterian Church of Bainbridge or the Bainbridge Fire Department.

Mary Larrabee
EDMESTON — Mary Elizabeth Simmons Larrabee, 82 years old, of Edmeston, died Monday, April 26, 2004, at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital, Oneonta.
She was born on Aug. 2, 1921, in Edmeston, the daughter of Everett and Harriet Simmons. She spent her childhood in Edmeston.
She was a housewife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of the Second Baptist Church, Edmeston.
Mary is survived by her constant companion, Earl Cummings. She is also survived by her children, Everett Larrabee, Rochester, David Larrabee, Pittsfield, and Joan Marie Brownell, Edmeston; grandchildren, Olivia, Chris, Brooke, Kasey, Eric, Samantha, Larry, Paul, Steve and Katherine; great-grandchildren, Koral, Jacob, Dalton, Christian, Julia, Isabelle and Jordan.
She was predeceased by her husband, Roger B. Larrabee on Nov. 11, 1974; two sons, Roger B. Larrabee and Lawrence R. Larrabee; and one great-grandson, Dawson C.L. Hoagland
Calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, April 29, 2004, at the Dakin Funeral Home, New Berlin.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 30, 2004, at the Dakin Funeral Home, New Berlin, with the Rev. Beverly Butler, of the First United Methodist Church, New Berlin, officiating.
Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Edmeston.
Memorial donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church, New Berlin.
David Earl Morton
UTICA — Mr. David Earl Morton, 46, passed away on April 22, 2004.
He was born Sept. 29, 1957, in Cooperstown, the son of Robert Morton and Edith Leneker.
David was a graduate of Roosevelt High School in Hyde Park and went on to serve in the United States Army from 1976-1978, with a stay in Germany.
At the time of his death, he was employed by L.B. Security Investigations Inc. of Utica.
David's survivors include his father, Robert Morton of Massachusetts; two sisters, Amy Guernsey of Cherry Valley, and Holly Hopewell of Myrtle Beach, S.C. He is also survived by two brothers, Mike Morton and his wife, Terri Morton, and Alan Morton, all of Richfield Springs. He leaves behind several cousins; two nephews, Jason Guernsey and Michael Morton; and three nieces, Tamara Morton, Trista Morton and Nadine Guernsey.
Graveside memorial services will be held on Friday, April 30, 2004, at the Cherry Valley Cemetery, Cherry Valley, with Pastor Lyman Johnson officiating. Burial will follow.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Ottman Funeral Home, Cherry Valley.
Walter G. Hillis
DELHI — Memorial services and burial for the Rev. Walter G. Hillis, 74, who died Dec. 21, 2003, in Delhi, will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 1, 2004, at the Charlotte Valley Presbyterian Church, North Kortright, with Dr. Carol Wilson officiating.
Robert L. Hamilton
WENDELL, N.C. — Robert Leon "Bob" Hamilton, 64, of 416 Oak Dare Lane, Jones Landing, died Tuesday, April 27, 2004, at Wake Medical Center.
Bob was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on Nov. 10, 1939, to the late Sidney A. Knopf and Leona Garner Knopf.
He retired from UPS with 31 years of service. Bob was a member of Faith Baptist Church. Bob was formerly of the Syracuse area.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 30, 2004, at Faith Baptist Church, 2728 Marks Creek Road, Knightdale, N.C. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery, Wendell.
Robert is survived by his wife, Mary Jean Rasmussen Hamilton; his children, Deborah Frye and her husband, William, of North Syracuse, Kristin Leture and her husband, Stephen, of Wendell, Cynthia Smith of Zebulon, Laura Smithson and her husband, Carl, of Long Beach, Calif., Cory Hamilton and his wife, Kimberly, of Moorpark, Calif., Wayne Smithson and his wife, Kimberly, of Minoa; grandchildren, Miranda, Julia, Brittany, Eric, Adam, Trevor, Spencer, Tina, Jeffery, Shannon and Jeremy; sister, Mary Henshen of Springfield, Ore.; brothers, Lynn Knopf of Springfield, Ore., and Alan Knopf of Oklahoma City, Okla.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by sons, Jeffrey Hamilton and Timothy Hamilton; and son-in-law, Granger Smith.

Emma Shackelton
WALTON — A graveside service will be held for Emma J. Shackelton on Saturday, May 1, 2004, at 11 a.m. at Walton Cemetery, with the Rev. Joe Bokel officiating.
Emma died Jan. 1, 2004.

Mack M. Cornett
ONEONTA — Mack M. Cornett of Oneonta passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday, April 27, 2004, at home.
Mack is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Dan and Mary Cornett, Candor; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Darlene (Kenneth) Washburn, Waverly, and June (Albert) Cornwell, Tioga Center; two sisters-in-law, Arla "Tammy" Cornett, Owego, and Hazel Cornett, Erin; one aunt, Ruth Chrysler, Candor; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
For many years, Mack worked for Kmart in Oneonta, until its closing, and presently worked for B-J's Outlet.
One of Mack's pastimes was soccer, bird watching and walking his best friend, his dog, "Auggie."
Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 3, 2004, at 3 p.m. at the Estey & Munroe Funeral Home, 15 Park St., Owego. The family will receive friends Monday from 1 to 3 p.m. before the services.
Robert A. Harrison
COBLESKILL — A graveside service for Robert A. Harrison will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2004, at 1 p.m. in Oneonta Plains Cemetery, Oneonta.
Mr. Harrison died on March 25, 2004, at Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown.
Funeral arrangements are with Palmer & Shaylor Funeral Home, Middleburgh, and Mereness-Putnam Funeral Home, Cobleskill.
Patricia Renz
GRAND GORGE — Patricia "Patsy" Renz, 55, passed away on Wednesday, April 28, 2004, at her home, with her family by her side.
She was a lifelong area resident, born Jan. 20, 1949, the daughter of Robert and Clara Moore Renz.
She was a first-grade elementary school teacher, serving at the Jefferson Central School from 1971 through 2002.
Patsy was a member and past president of Delta Kappa Gamma, the area Corral Choir and St. Philip Neri Roman Catholic Church in Grand Gorge.
She loved traveling, gardening and spending time with her family, especially her nieces and nephews.
A dedicated teacher, she loved hearing the laughter and singing of her students, and they loved her.
She will be remembered by her four brothers, Thomas (Carol) of Mesa, Ariz., Robert of Grand Gorge, Michael (Joanne) of Gilboa, and Shawn (Betsy) of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; five sisters, Karen, Gail and Colleen of Grand Gorge, Mary (Glen) Hinkley of Halcottsville, and Diane (Rudy) Stripp of Stamford; 16 nieces and nephews; and 10 great-nieces and great-nephews.
Patsy was predeceased by her parents; and her sister, Roberta Hubbard.
Friends may call Friday, April 30, 2004, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Hall Funeral Home, 40 Main St., Stamford.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, May 1, 2004, at noon at the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Stamford.
Interment will follow at the Gilboa Rural Cemetery, Gilboa.
Donations may be made in Patsy's name to the Jefferson Central School and/or the Catskill Area Hospice in Delhi.

Phillip VanDeusen
ONEONTA — Phillip VanDeusen, 43, passed away Tuesday, April 27, 2004, at the A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital in Oneonta.
He was born May 16, 1960, in Oneonta, the son of Gordon and Dorothy Lee (VanBuren) VanDeusen.
Phillip is survived by his daughter, Christa VanDeusen of Texas; three brothers, Edward of Tennessee, Gary of Florida, and Gordie and wife Margaret, of South Hartwick; his "mother" Frances Beagel of Oneonta; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents; and a brother, Thomas.
There will be no calling hours, and services will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are by the Heller Funeral Home, 25 Arch St., Schenevus.
