Angelina DiDonato
MARGARETVILLE — Angelina DiDonato, 92, of Margaretville, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2003, at the Mountainside Residential Care Center, Margaretville.
She was born on Sept. 1, 1911, in Margaretville, the daughter of Joseph and Rose (Prezzia) Pedulla.
She married Frank DiDonato on Nov. 3, 1940, in Sacred Heart Church, Newburgh. He died Nov. 4, 1959.
She was a member of the Sacred Heart Church, Margaretville.
Angelina is survived by two nephews, Stephen and Joseph Pedulla; and a brother-in-law, Carl Barkman.
Calling hours are on Friday, Oct. 17, 2003, from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m., with funeral services at 9 a.m. at the Hynes Funeral Home in Margaretville, with the Very Rev. James J. McDevitt, officiating. Burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery, Newburgh.
Arrangements are by Hynes Funeral Home in Margaretville.
Gari J. Walker
UNADILLA — Gari Janene Walker, 62, passed away Oct. 9, 2003, in Oneonta.
She was born on Feb. 22, 1941, in Vallejo, Calif., the daughter of Betty Byerly and Beryl Underwood.
She was a retired Supervisor of Mental Health Technicians from the state of Nevada, after 27 years.
She lived in Unadilla for one year, and was a longtime resident of Las Vegas, Nev.
She was a member of South Oneonta Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.
She is survived by her daughter, Jolin Minniear of Unadilla; her son, Joseph Miller of Las Vegas; her granddaughter, Jaime Minniear of Unadilla; her brother, Larry Underwood of Las Vegas; her sisters, Greta Stevens and longtime family friend, Loren (Rebel) McCormick, Las Vegas, and Dana McKelvy of Carson City, Nev.; nieces, Kristen and Brittany McKelvy of Carson City; her aunt, Ruby Metzler of Rippe, Iowa; and her cousin, Rodney Metzler of Perry, Iowa.
There will be a memorial talk with Brother Philip Paddock presiding at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 25, 2003, at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 3985 Highway 23, West Oneonta.
Jessica A. Wood
MORRIS — Jessica Amber Wood, 20, of Morris, died unexpectedly on Oct. 14, 2003.
She was born July 28, 1983, in Geneva, the daughter of David Sherman Wood and Christene (Laubmeier) Wood.
She was a lifelong resident of Morris, and had been active on the Morris Soccer team, the Morris Ski Club and the Morris Snowboarding Club.
She is survived by her mother, Christene Wood and companion John Meyer of Morris; her father, David S. Wood and wife Ramona of Parma, Ohio; her maternal grandparents, George and Chloe Laubmeier of Morris; her paternal grandparents, Donald and Hilda Wood of Brokpark, Ohio; her brother, Garrett Novak and his father, Darryl Novak of Hartwick. Her aunts and uncles include, James, Michael and Stacey Laubmeier, Josephine and Tom Wood; two stepsisters and their children; as well as a cousin, Mya Laubmeier.
Calling hours will be on Saturday, Oct. 18, 2003, at the Johnston Funeral Home in Morris, from 1 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. at which time a funeral service will be held with the Rev. Ann Blair officiating.
Cremation will take place at the Hillington Crematory in Morris.
In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to donate to the American Cancer Society, 57 Front St., Binghamton, NY 13905-4797. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Funeral arrangements are by the Johnston Funeral Home of Morris.
Marion L. Morse
SYRACUSE — Marion L. Jones Morse, 89, of Syracuse, died Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2003, in the Community General Hospital, Syracuse.
Mrs. Morse was born in Lew Beach, the daughter of the late Frank and Margaret Hoag Martin.
She lived in West Laurens for over 30 years.
She had worked as a buyer for Bresee's Department Store. She was the owner and operator of the Deer Meadow Restaurant for many years and later she owned a rest home. She had worked as a cook in many establishments over the years.
She was a member of Eastern Star and was a 30 -year member of the Moose Club.
She received an associate in arts degree for home economics from the State University College of Technology at Delhi in 1936.
She moved to Zephyrhills, Fla., in 1978, and lived there through most of her retirement years. She moved to the Syracuse area in 1995.
She is survived by one daughter, Deana Siegel of Clay; one son, Stanley Jones of Arizona; one sister, Frances Kenyon of East Meredith; three grandchildren, MaryJo Middaugh of Delphi Falls, David Middaugh of Syracuse, and Jamie Siegel of Clay; three great-grandchildren, Hunter Siegel of Clay, Dyllan Lawrence of Syracuse, and Victoria Lawrence of Syracuse; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, 2003, in the United Methodist Church on Church Street in Bloomville. Burial will be at Hillington Cemetery in Morris, following the reception after the funeral. Richard Kenyon, nephew of Marion will officiate at the services.

Sophie Mitchell
COOPERSTOWN — Mrs. Sophie Mitchell, 88, of Cooperstown, died Tuesday evening, Oct. 14, 2003.
Sophie was born in Little Falls on May 12, 1915, a daughter of Frank and Mary (Bice) Mele.
After graduating from Hartwick High School, she worked as a nurses aid for two years at Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital.
Sophie married her husband of 68 years, Jack Mitchell on Aug. 28, 1935.
Sophie dedicated herself to her family, friends, her church and community. Her family and many friends have fond memories of the summers at Five Mile Point.
She was a former member of the Leatherstocking Golf Club, the Cooperstown Women's Club and the Criterion Club.
Sophie was a volunteer at Bassett Healthcare for over 25 years. She was also an active volunteer in Girl Scouts, the American Red Cross and the SPCA.
Sophie was a longtime communicant of St. Mary's Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Cooperstown, where she was active in many church committees and events.
Sophie enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, and golfing and knitting. She had a yarn shop at her home for many years.
She is survived by her loving husband, Jack; a daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Ted Kantorowski of Cooperstown; two sons and daughters-in-law, George and Nancy Mitchell of Hartwick, and John and Lynda Mitchell of Cooperstown; 10 grandchildren, Michael Kantorowski and his wife, Pam, Jeffrey Kantorowski, Lisa Page and her husband, Scott, Matthew and Christine Mitchell, Sarah Nickoson and her husband, C.J., Nicole Poole and her husband, Jim, Todd Anderson and his wife, Kelly, Colin Anderson and his wife, June, Joshua Mitchell and his fiancee, Brooke Owens, and Christopher Mitchell; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Frances Fish of Columbia, Md.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a sister, Mary Guarnere; and a brother, Frank Mele.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Oct. 18, 2003, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Cooperstown. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Index.
At Sophie's request there will be no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, it was Sophie's request that expressions of sympathy in the form of memorial contributions be made to one's charity of choice.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Tillapaugh Funeral Service, Cooperstown and Milford.
Patricia Vaughan
ONEONTA — Patricia Ann Vaughan, 62, of Oneonta, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 16, 2003, at the M.I. Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown.
She was born in Oneonta on March 24, 1941, the daughter of Francis and Hazel (Henderson) Lee.
She married James T. Vaughan on Sept. 20, 1959, in Oneonta.
A lifelong area resident and a homemaker, Pat took great pleasure in being with her family and friends, as well as traveling.
She is survived by her husband, James T. Vaughan, of Oneonta; her children, Caprice Gaisford and her husband, Frank of Oneonta, and Timothy M. Vaughan of Escondido, Calif.; a grandson, Shawn Patrick Vaughan of Junction City, Kan.; a brother, Robert Lee of Jacksonville, Fla.; as well as several nieces and nephews.
At Pat's request there will be no calling hours or funeral service.
In her memory, contributions may be made to a charity of choice.

Robert H. Wright
WORCESTER — Robert H. Wright, 79, died Thursday, Oct. 16, 2003, at Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown.
He was born Feb. 1, 1924, in Oneonta, the son of the late Herman Charles and Estella (Church) Wright.
Bob graduated from Worcester Central School, then served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Bob owned and operated Wright's Electric in Worcester.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Worcester, and a former member of the Worcester Rotary Club and the Worcester American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, Lois (Gregory) Wright, whom he married on April 10, 1955, in Norwich; their children, Greg and Marie Wright of Durham, N.C., Pam and John Zieno of Norwich, Rob and Michele Wright of Worcester, and Jim and Debbie Wright of Elmira; 10 grandchildren, Lauren, Lindsey and Nathan Wright of Durham, N.C., Taylor Ann, Rachel and Daniel Zieno of Norwich, Michaela and Madison Wright of Worcester, and Lydia and Lucas Wright of Elmira; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Charles F. and Horace C. Wright.
Calling hours will be Sunday, Oct. 19, 2003, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at E.J. Skinner Co. Funeral Chapel in Worcester.
The funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 20, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Paul Messner, pastor of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hartwick Seminary, officiating.
Following the committal service at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Worcester, friends are invited to join the family at the Worcester Whitehouse Inn for a luncheon.

SYRACUSE — Marion L. Jones Morse, 89, of Syracuse, died Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2003, in the Community General Hospital, Syracuse.
