Robert G. Stehlik
RICHFIELD SPRINGS — Robert G. Stehlik, 71, of County Highway 24, passed away on Sunday evening, Feb. 9, 2003, at Valley Health Services Inc., Herkimer.
He was born July 16, 1931, a son of the late George and Louise Kosina Stehlik in Flushing, Queens.
Robert was raised and educated in Astoria and was a graduate of Long Island City High School.
He was an honorably discharged United States Air Force Veteran serving during the Korean War from 1952 to 1954. He achieved the rank of Airman second class upon the time of his discharge.
Upon returning from the Air Force, Mr. Stehlik went to work for the New York Telephone Company where he worked for more than 30 years, retiring in 1989.
Robert was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and a member of the Richfield Springs Veterans Club. He was a past president and member of the DA Sokol Club in Astoria. This is where he met his future wife, June Hendl.
Robert and June were married in Manhattan in 1957. They shared a blessed and loving union for 46 years. They lived in Astoria, Queens, until 1998 when they moved to Richfield Springs.
Robert was a loving and caring man who enjoyed making people laugh. He was happiest when he was with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.
Surviving him, besides his wife June of 46 years, is a son, Frank Stehlik and his wife, Helen, of Mt. Hope; a daughter, Ann Louise Santiago and her husband, Michael, of Ridgewood, Queens; a brother George Stehlik of Sidney Center; two granddaughters, Emily and Sarah Stehlik and one grandson, Matthew Santiago. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral service will take place on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home 40 West James St., Richfield Springs, with the Rev. William Harkins, Pastor of the Church of Christ Uniting, officiating.
The family will receive friends and relatives at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m.
Internment will take place in St. Michael's Cemetery in Astoria, Queens, at the family's convenience.
Memorial donations may be made to the DA Sokol Club or the Telephone Pioneers of America.
Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Eulena M. Turner
ONEONTA — Eulena M. Turner, 96, died Monday, Feb. 10, 2003, at the Oneonta Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Her physical and mental health had declined rapidly after a pacemaker was implanted in August 2000.
She was born Dec. 15, 1906, the daughter of Emory and Lena (Forsyth) Frisbee.
She married Ralph H. Turner in 1929. He died in 1953.
She was a graduate of Davenport High School and the Oneonta State Normal School and taught in Davenport. Later she and her husband owned and operated a farm in Otego.
Following her husband's death she earned a practical nursing license at the Albany Training School for Practical Nursing and then was employed at Homer Folks Hospital, retiring in 1972.
She was a member of the Otego Presbyterian Church and also attended the First United Presbyterian Church in Oneonta where for many years she was a member of the sewing and quilting group.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Evelyn and David Sullivan, of Otego; a grandson, Michael Sullivan, a grandson and his wife, Glenn and Wendy Wade Sullivan, all of Oneonta; a great-grandson, Jeremy Sullivan, of Syracuse and Jeremy's brother, Shawn McFee, of Bainbridge. A foster daughter, Sandra Blair and her husband, Donald, and family of Highland Mills; sisters-in-law, Doris Gula, of Oneonta, Jean Frisbee, of Utica; and several nieces and nephews also survive her.
Brothers Miles, Leonard, Ernest and Hugh Frisbee and sisters, Florence Haines and Ruth Hardenbergh, predeceased Eulena.
Calling hours will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, at the MacArthur Funeral Home, Davenport, where the funeral service will also be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, with Pastor C. Spencer VanGulick officiating.
Burial will take place in the spring in Davenport Cemetery, Davenport.
Contributions in her memory may be made to the Otego Presbyterian Church or the First United Presbyterian Church, 381 Main St., Oneonta, NY 13820.

Margaret George
ONEONTA — Margaret George, 87, of Oneonta, died Saturday, Feb. 8, 2003, at Fox Nursing Home, after a brief illness.
She was born on April 12, 1915, in Walton, the daughter of Robert and Jennie (Tweedie) George.
Miss George was a retired high school science teacher, having taught in the Monticello and Lake George school systems. She attended the Walton Mountain Road School District No. 5, and was a 1932 graduate of Walton High School, and a 1936 graduate of the Oneonta Normal School.
She was an avid gardener, enjoyed reading and was active in political agenda and issues.
She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church of Oneonta, and the New York State Teachers Association.
She is survived by a sister-in-law, Elna Finch George of Oneonta; three nieces, Sally A. George of San Francisco, Calif., Paula M. George of Boston, Mass., and Cindy L. and her husband, Scott, Speanburgh of Winter Springs, Fla.; two great-nieces, Lauren L. and Megan L. Speanburgh of Winter Springs.
She is also survived by cousins Margaret Sutliff, Betty Sethford and Catherine Russell, all of Walton, N.Y.
She was predeceased by her brother, James Paul George of Oneonta; and cousins, Robert Russell and Ralph Henderson of Walton; and numerous second cousins.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of Margaret will be held during the second week of April at the Lewis-Hurley Funeral Home, 51 Dietz St., Oneonta. There will be no calling hours.

Perry R. Fish
COOPERSTOWN — Perry R. Fish, 53, a lifelong resident of Cooperstown, passed away unexpectedly late Saturday night, Feb. 8, 2003, at the Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown.
Perry was born on June 28, 1949, in Cooperstown, a son of the late Robert R. and Bernice J. (Snyder) Fish.
A graduate of the Cooperstown Central School Class of 1967, he went on to attend the State University of New York at Oswego and received an associate's degree in business.
He later completed a four-year apprenticeship with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 1249 and became employed in 1975 as a lineman, a position he currently held.
An avid hunter, he also enjoyed his Harley Davidson.
A loving and devoted father, Perry leaves behind an 11-year-old daughter, Shey Nicole Fergussen-Fish of Dolgeville.
He is also survived by his sister, Roberta Schell of Herkimer, and many nieces and nephews. He will be sadly missed by a loving companion, Jennifer White-Wedderspoon, of Cooperstown.
Perry was predeceased by his father, Robert R. Fish, who died Feb. 9, 1987, his mother, Bernice Fish, who died March 30, 1994; and a sister, Marian Curry.
Friends may call at the Connell, Dow & Deysenroth Funeral Home in Cooperstown on Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., when Perry's family will be in attendance.
At Perry's request, there will be no funeral services.

Eloise G. Cevasco
NORWICH — Eloise G. Cevasco, 72, of Division Street, passed away peacefully on Monday, Feb. 10, 2003, at her home after an extended illness. Her loving family was at her bedside.
Born Aug. 28, 1930, in Gilbertsville, she was the daughter of Fred and Pearl (Rogers) Williams. She graduated from Gilbertsville High School.
On Sept. 15, 1951, she married Robert E. Cevasco, who survives. A native of the area, Eloise, in addition to raising her five children, worked after graduation at the former Imperial Tea Room in Norwich and then for General Laboratories, later Simmonds Precision, for over 28 years retiring in 1993.
For eight years following her retirement, Eloise traveled and worked with her husband. For the last several years she enjoyed her winters at their home in Sebring, Fla.
Eloise loved the outdoors and spent many summers camping at Leland Pond with her family and friends.
She also enjoyed playing shuffleboard and golf.
Eloise was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and of the Women of the Moose.
In addition to her loving husband, Robert, of Norwich; she is survived by four sons and their wives, Denny and Joanne Cevasco of Norwich, Randy and Marge Cevasco of Central Square, Ritchie and Debbie Cevasco of Sidney, and Robby and Jill Cevasco of Wentzville, Mo.; a daughter, Wendy Arndt and her husband, John of Waterloo; 14 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Additionally, she is survived by three sisters, Joyce Maiorana of Sebring, Fla., Ethel Macumber of Gilbertsville, and Hilda Youngs of Norwich; as well as a brother, Durward "Bud" Williams of Mount Upton; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two sisters, Marion Collins and Winetta Davern; and a brother, Fred Williams Jr.
Funeral services for Eloise will be held on Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003, at 1 p.m. at the Wilson Funeral Home.
Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Thursday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.
Burial will take place in the spring in Butternuts Valley Cemetery in Copes Corners.

Raymond C. Decker
MORRIS — Raymond C. Decker, 59, of Morris, died Monday morning, Feb. 10, 2003, at his residence.
He was born Sept. 14, 1943, in Oneonta, the son of Charles William Crane and Pauline Grace Andrus. His adoptive father was Carl Decker.
He married the former Mary E. Morrison on Aug. 19, 1966, in the Unadilla Methodist Church, Unadilla.
Ray was an independent tractor trailer driver all his life and was a stock car owner and driver since 1958. He was also a gun enthusiast. He was a member of the Stock Car Association.
He attended school in Oneonta until he was 21 and then moved to Sidney where he lived until moving to Morris last year.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Decker, of Morris; six stepbrothers of which three live in the area and are Bob Decker and his wife, Donna of Unadilla, Ron Decker and his wife, Shiela and Ed Decker, all of Binghamton. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
At Ray's request there will be no funeral service and he will be cremated at the Hillington Crematory, Morris.
Funeral arrangements are by the Johnston Funeral Home, Morris.
Dora J. Bradley
QUEENSBURY — Dora J. Bradley, 86, passed away on Monday, Feb. 10, 2003, at Glens Falls Hospital, following a short illness.
Born on March 11, 1916, in Rupert, Vt., she was a daughter of William and Philena (Teer) Jameson.
She married Harold Bradley on Aug. 19, 1936, and they were married for 49 years, prior to his death.
Her married life took her and her husband to Georgetown High School and Norwich High School in New York State, followed by Hartwick College, Duke University and the University of Texas, were her husband was the head basketball coach.
Survivors include her daughter, Patty Bradley of Queensbury; and her son, Robert Bradley and his wife, Geraldine of New Hartford; her grandchildren, Kristin Fiegl and her husband, Jason of Keeseville, and Matthew Bradley of Burlington, Vt.; her sister, Ellen Williams and her husband, Robert of Granville; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m., on Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003, at the Church of the Messiah, 296 Glen St., Glens Falls.
Burial will be in the spring in Oneonta.
Family and friends are invited and may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., on Friday, Feb. 14, 2003, at Regan & Denny Funeral Home, 53 Quaker Road, Queensbury.

Robert A. Shupe
AFTON — Robert A. Shupe, 80, of Afton, passed away Feb. 9, 2003, after a long, courageous battle with cancer.
Bob was born Nov. 27, 1922, in Rolla, Mo., son of the late Walter and Clara (Oakland) Shupe. His family moved to Afton from Staten Island, when he was 14. Bob graduated from Afton Central School.
He served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II.
He married Carrie Ingalls in Afton in 1947.
Bob retired in 2001, after 52 years in the car business. He owned the former Shupe Olds Pontiac and GMC Trucks on Route 7 in Afton. He was a member of the Pontiac Dealers Council of Newark as well as serving on the advisory board for NBT Bank of Norwich.
Bob was an avid golfer. He was a long time member of the Sidney Golf and Country Club. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Carrie Shupe, from Afton; two daughters and sons-in-law, Cheryl and Dan Barbasch of Ithaca and Janis and Dale Schmidt of San Diego, Calif.; son and daughter-in-law, Robert T. (Hoby) and Jo Ann Shupe of Baldwinsville; four grandchildren, Claire, Tina and Sophie Barbasch of Ithaca, and John Schmidt of San Diego, Calif.; two sisters and brother-in-law, Joyce and Clarence (Bucky) Burnett of Afton and Elizabeth (Bibsy) Smith of Afton; brother, Walter Shupe of Sauquoit; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003, at the United Methodist Church of Afton at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Tony Hipes, pastor officiating.
Friends may call Friday; the family will be in attendance from 3 to 7 p.m. at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St., Sidney.
Burial will be in Eastside Cemetery in Afton in the spring.

Rachel P. Evans
RICHMONDVILLE — Mrs. Rachel P. Evans, 89, of Main Street, died Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2003, at her residence.
Mrs. Evans was born July 22, 1913, in Franklin, Minn., the daughter of Johny and Josephine (Jensen) Jacobson.
Mrs. Evans was a graduate of the Union Hospital School of Nursing in New Ulm, Minn.
She married Earle Evans on Nov. 13, 1944, in West Winfield. He died in 1962.
From 1957 to 1978, Mrs. Evans was a registered nurse at the former Community Hospital in Cobleskill, working primarily in the maternity ward. She was also a member of the former club of Registered Nurses' of Cobleskill.
Mrs. Evans was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Richmondville and its Eureka Class. She also volunteered in numerous capacities at the church. Mrs. Evans was a member of the Richmondville Senior Citizens.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Ellis E. Evans and Kim Perry of Sanger, Calif.; a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy Evans and Jim Trenberth of Ames, Iowa; and two grandchildren, Jason Evans and Sara LuAnn Evans.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 15, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Main Street, Richmondville, with the Rev. Gary Edmister officiating. Friends may call at the church from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service.
Spring interment will be in the Richmondville Rural Cemetery.
