Ronald Rook
Services for Ronald E. Rook, 67, who died Oct. 25 in Pahrump, were held in Waynesboro, Pa.
He was born July 4, 1936 in Waynesboro, and was a resident of Pahrump for four years, coming from Lugoff, S.C.
He served in the U.S. Navy for eight years, and worked as a district manager for Teledyne Landis Machine until his retirement in December 1998.
He belonged to the BPO Elks Lodge 731, VFW Post 695, ATH&L, all in Waynesboro, the American Legion of Arcadia, Calif., the Moose Lodge in Pahrump, and the National Rifle Association.
A Protestant, he belonged to the Church of the Brethren.
His wife Roberta of Pahrump; son Roger of Las Vegas; two grandchildren and one great grandchild survive him.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to any humane society.

Conrad Noret
Private family services have been held for Conrad Verle Noret, 66, who died Nov. 6 in Pahrump.
He was born Feb. 20, 1937 in Wyoming, Ill., and was a resident of Pahrump for five years, coming from Selah, Wash.
He served in the U.S. Air Force and then worked in construction until his retirement in 1990.
He was a member of American Legion Post 88 in Selah.
His wife Evelyn of Pahrump; sons Robert Noret of Las Vegas, and Ronald Noret of Monroe, Wash.; brothers Forrest Noret of Las Vegas; Stanley Noret of Phoenix, and Glenn Noret of Pennsylvania; sisters Gleynafa Bernard, Beverly Mercer and Shirley Vilette, all of Wyoming, Ill.; and three grandchildren survive him.
His parents, one brother and daughter, Brandi, preceded him in death.

Jerry Lyons
Died April 1, 2001
Services have been held for Jerry Lyons, 67, who died April 1 in a Dayton, Ohio, hospital.
He was born April 23, 1933, in Elizabethton, Tenn. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps in the Korean War, and worked at the Nevada Test Site before retiring. He was a former 19-year resident of Pahrump, and a lifelong member of the VFW, Moose Lodge and the Police Officers Assn.
Wife Donna, daughters Jeri Blanco of Las Vegas, Jan Peckinpaw of Cocoa, Fla., son David of Cocoa, stepson Fred Carr of Arkansas Pass, Texas, stepdaughter Toni Carr of Sandy Valley, sisters Bobbie Sue Brown and Vickie Little of Elizabethton, one granddaughter, two step granddaughters, one step grandson and one step-great-grandson survive him.

Everett Charette
Died April 3, 2001
A private family service will be held for Everett Harrington Charette, 67, who died April 3 in Pahrump.
He was born July 1, 1933, in Ruthland, Vt. He worked in maintenance and came to Pahrump five years ago from Massachusetts. He was a Protestant.
Niece Carol Rivenburgh of Ridgecrest, Calif., and nephew Arthur Charette III of Riverside, Calif., survive him. (4/3/01)
Pearl Reynolds
Died April 7, 2001
Services for Pearl A. Reynolds, 91, who died April 7 in Pahrump, will be held in Ogden, Utah.
She was born April 6, 1910, in Meadow, Utah. She spent her life in Clearfield and Ogden, Utah, before retiring from Hill AFB as an item manager. After retiring she and her husband were snowbirds in Yuma, Ariz., and Pahrump for many years before buying a home and settling in Pahrump permanently in 1993.
Her husband of 72 years, Leonard, survives her, as do son Val (Leah), daughter Barbara (Vern) Solomon, all of Pahrump, daughter Joanne (Billy) Downs of Eden, Utah, sister Aliene Lund of Ogden, 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, as well as step grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Frank Maiolo

Graveside services for Frank Maiolo, 75, who died April 4 in Pahrump, were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Chief Tecopa cemetery.
He was born Oct. 22, 1925, in Hoboken, N.J. He served in the U.S. Navy, then worked as a finish carpenter. He came to Nevada in 1981 from Florida and lived in Crystal before coming to Pahrump. He was an avid fisherman who was known for his sense of humor.
Sons Randy and Wayne, both of Pahrump, brother Otto of Lodi, N.J., and sister Constance Clark of Las Vegas survive him. (4/4/01)
Malcolm Simmons
Died: February 1, 2001
Services for Malcolm Donald Simmons, 67, who died Feb. 1 in Pahrump, were held Feb. 5 in the Neptune Society Chapel with Dan Daffer officiating.
He was born Sept. 12, 1933, in Edmonton, Ky. He worked as a general carpenter in the building industry and came to Pahrump from Las Vegas in 1986.
Wife Diane of Pahrump, son Donald (Sue) of Chicago, stepsons Joseph (Dorrie) Beghan of Clifton, Colo., and Adrian Beghan of Colorado Springs, Colo., stepdaughter Diane (Scott) Sommers of Chesterfield, Mich., sister Agnes Klinkers of Edmonton and 11 grandchildren survive him. (2/1/01)
Darlene Alves
Died: February 1, 2001
Funeral services for Darlene Alves, 64, who died Feb. 1 in Pahrump, were held Feb. 3 in the Pahrump Family Mortuary chapel. Burial will be in the Santa Clara, Calif., Mission cemetery.
She was born March 30, 1936, in South Dakota. She came to Pahrump eight years ago from Alabama, and worked as a security guard. She was a Christian.
Children Joseph DeMaria of Pahrump and Anthony DeMaria, Vincent DeMaria and Julianna Lapic, all of Santa Ana, Calif., and siblings Betty Copp of Escondido, Calif., Delaine Watkins of Sacramento, Sharon Martin of Greenville, Tenn., Rose Lunning of Albuquerque and John Grisley of Fontana, Calif., survive her.

Bill Jones
Died: February 5, 2001
Services for Bill Murrray Jones, 75, who died Feb. 5 in Pahrump, will be held at 11:30 Thursday morning in the Neptune Society Chapel.
He was born Dec. 29, 1925, in Alexandria, La. He worked as an air conditioning mechanic and came to Pahrump from Texas 10 years ago. He practiced the metaphysical religion and was a World War II veteran of the Navy.
A previous Silver Tapper in Pahrump, he was a co-organizer of Spiritual Endeavors, a member of the Heal Center, and he loved to fly planes, especially his Comanche. He loved animals, telling stories, playing the piano, and visiting with people. He was a gentle soul, a good friend, and always eager to lend a hand to anyone who needed it. He will be sorely missed.
Wife, Jeanne of Pahrump, daughters Alcia (John) Sanders and Verosa (Benjamin) Phillip of Texas, 10 grandchildren and many friends in the community survive him.
Danny Johnson
Died: January 30, 2001
Funeral services for Danny Herschel Johnson, 67, who died Jan. 30 in Amargosa Valley, were held Feb. 3 in the Avia Building, Amargosa, with Jeff Bassett officiating. Burial was in the Amargosa Desert Memorial cemetery.
He was born June 2, 1933, in Thatcher, Ariz. He owned Johnson Construction Company and came to Amargosa 12 years ago after living in Las Vegas for 22 years. He also managed lumber companies in Nevada and Arizona, managed Cowboy Joe's Restaurant in Lathrop Wells, owned used car lots and gas stations and worked as a painter at the Nevada Test Site. He was known as a Mr. Fix It and a Jack of all trades. He collected and restored old cars and loved camping, the outdoors and especially mountains and lakes. He was a member of the Jaycees and belonged to the LDS Church.
Carol of Amargosa, his wife of 49 years, survives him. Other survivors include son Michael of Henderson, daughters Beatrice Copsey of North Bend,
Barbara Joyce
Died: May 12, 2001
A memorial service for Barbara Lee McNamara Joyce, 67, who died May 12 in Pahrump, will be held at 5 p.m. Thursday in Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church.
She was born Jan. 18, 1934, in Hoboken, N.J. She was senior recreation facility administrator for the Best Western Motel in Milford, Pa., for eight years, and a safe deposit manager in the banking industry. She came to Pahrump in 1998 from Milford, where she resided for 20 years.
She belonged to Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, was a hospice volunteer, and loved animals, the outdoors, tennis and water sports.
Sons Thomas Myers of Pahrump and James Myers of Grover Beach, Calif., daughter Jean (Phillip) Myers-Articola of Manassas, Va., brother Terrence McNamara of New Orleans and sister Joan Morgan of Calvert County, Md., survive her.

Carl Johnson
Died June 4, 2001
Celebration of life services for Carl Ray Johnson, 57, who died June 4 in Las Vegas, were held Tuesday in the Neptune Society of Nye County chapel.
He was born April 18, 1944, in Peoria, Ill. He served in the U.S. Army, then had a career as a truck driver. He came to Pahrump from Illinois in 1990.
His mother, Viola Bader of Pekin, Ill., sons Robert of Pahrump and Kacey of Streator, Ill., daughters Renee Jenkins of Streator, Cari of Peoria and Naomi Gardner of Pekin, sister Marilyn Turner of Pekin and four grandchildren survive him. (6/4/01)
Ernest Runnion
Died August 21, 2001
A memorial service for Ernest E. Runnion, 85, who died Aug. 21 at Valley Hospital in Las Vegas, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Palm Mortuary's location in downtown Las Vegas.
He was born Nov. 26, 1915, in Triplett, W.V. He was a 30-year resident of Clark County, most of it spent in the Overton area. He served in the U.S. Navy and later worked as an electrical engineer in the timber industry before he retired. He was the inventor of the Chip 'N' Saw, a type of saw widely used in the lumber industry throughout the world. He was a member of Daylight Lodge No. 44, the Scottish Rite and Zelza Shrine. He liked to travel by motor home and fish.
Wife Marie of Overton; daughters Dee Gove of Vancouver, Wash., and Jana Ward of Warrenton, Va.; brother Roy Wilson of Florida; sister Marjorie Hess of Parkersburg, W.V.; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren survive him.
