Danny Johnson
Funeral services for Danny Herschel Johnson, 67, who died Jan. 30, 2001 in Amargosa Valley, were held Feb. 3 in the Avia Building, Amargosa, with Jeff Bassett officiating. Burial was in the Amargosa Desert Memorial cemetery.
He was born June 2, 1933, in Thatcher, Ariz. He owned Johnson Construction Company and came to Amargosa 12 years ago after living in Las Vegas for 22 years. He also managed lumber companies in Nevada and Arizona, managed Cowboy Joe's Restaurant in Lathrop Wells, owned used car lots and gas stations and worked as a painter at the Nevada Test Site. He was known as a Mr. Fix It and a Jack of all trades. He collected and restored old cars and loved camping, the outdoors and especially mountains and lakes. He was a member of the Jaycees and belonged to the LDS Church.
Carol of Amargosa, his wife of 49 years, survives him. Other survivors include son Michael of Henderson, daughters Beatrice Copsey of North Bend,
Malcolm Simmons
Services for Malcolm Donald Simmons, 67, who died Feb. 1 in Pahrump, were held Feb. 5 in the Neptune Society Chapel with Dan Daffer officiating.
He was born Sept. 12, 1933, in Edmonton, Ky. He worked as a general carpenter in the building industry and came to Pahrump from Las Vegas in 1986.
Wife Diane of Pahrump, son Donald (Sue) of Chicago, stepsons Joseph (Dorrie) Beghan of Clifton, Colo., and Adrian Beghan of Colorado Springs, Colo., stepdaughter Diane (Scott) Sommers of Chesterfield, Mich., sister Agnes Klinkers of Edmonton and 11 grandchildren survive him. (2/1/01)
Bill Jones
Services for Bill Murrray Jones, 75, who died Feb. 5 in Pahrump, will be held at 11:30 Thursday morning in the Neptune Society Chapel.
He was born Dec. 29, 1925, in Alexandria, La. He worked as an air conditioning mechanic and came to Pahrump from Texas 10 years ago. He practiced the metaphysical religion and was a World War II veteran of the Navy.
A previous Silver Tapper in Pahrump, he was a co-organizer of Spiritual Endeavors, a member of the Heal Center, and he loved to fly planes, especially his Comanche. He loved animals, telling stories, playing the piano, and visiting with people. He was a gentle soul, a good friend, and always eager to lend a hand to anyone who needed it. He will be sorely missed.
Wife, Jeanne of Pahrump, daughters Alcia (John) Sanders and Verosa (Benjamin) Phillip of Texas, 10 grandchildren and many friends in the community survive him.
George Blohm
Services for George Fredrick Blohm, 83, who died March 3 in Las Vegas, will be held at 1 p.m. today in the Pahrump United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. at the church, and burial will follow in the Chief Tecopa cemetery.
He was born July 16, 1917, in Columbus, Neb. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, then worked as a bartender.
Wife Eleanor Peters of Pahrump, daughter Karen Tucker of Pahrump, sisters Hilda Robbins of Quail Valley, Calif., and Alice Rupp and Adelia Olson, both of Columbus, brothers Gerald of Pahrump and Ralph of Nixon, Mo., grandson Rob Larsen and granddaughter Laura Larsen, both of Pahrump, survive him.
Son Robert (1956), daughter Geraldine Larsen (2000) and grandson James Ballard (1992) preceded him in death. (3/3/01)
Floyd Burger
Graveside services for Floyd Elmer Burger, 89, who died Feb. 28 in his Pahrump home, will be held at 12:30 p.m. today in the Chief Tecopa cemetery.
He was born March 26, 1911, at Oologah, Okla. He was a retired welder and a member of Operating Engineers Union Local 3 and a 20-year resident of Pahrump.
Son Phillip (Judi) of Fallon, daughters Winona Stokes of Vallejo, Calif., Juanita Hutchison of Las Vegas, Diane of Las Vegas, Aune (George) Bassett of Springfield, Mo., and Elizabeth (Robert) Metzger of Pahrump, sister Mable Neves of Kansas City, Mo., 29 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren, and 13 great great-grandchildren survive him.
He was preceded in death by his wife Matilda "Ted" in 1988, sons James in 1944 and Joe in 1998, and two grandchildren. (2/28/01)
Johann Gotschall
A memorial service for Johann Gotschall, 72, who died Nov. 18 in Las Vegas, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the First Southern Baptist Church.
She was born March 1, 1928, in Seaford, N.Y. She came to Pahrump 21 years ago from Louisiana and was a school bus driver before retiring three years ago. She belonged to the VFW 10054 Women's Auxiliary.
Daughters Sally Reed of Pahrump and Rhonda Ceremony of Vacaville, Calif., sons Ronald of San Diego, Robert of San Antonio and Ronny Gaskey of Wachahachie, Texas, brother Hector McLeod of Redding, Calif., and two grandchildren survive her. (11/18/00)
Felipa Noloya
Services for Felipa Garza Noloya, 86, who died Feb. 19 in a Las Vegas hospice, will be held at Ft. Collins, Colo.
She was born Aug. 26, 1914, in Laredo, Texas. She was a homemaker, a one-year resident of Pahrump, and was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church.
Daughter Frances De Marco of Pahrump and Guadalupe Garza of Laredo, sons Tony Meza of Timnath, Colo., Aurelio Sr. of Laredo and Jesus of Seguin, Texas, 24 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild survive her.

Richard Olney
Services for Richard Paul Olney, 67, who died Feb. 28 in Las Vegas, were held March 5 in the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial cemetery, Boulder City.
He was born March 9, 1933, in Lima, Ohio. He was a career U.S. Air Force officer and came to Pahrump in 1992 from Mountain Home, Idaho. He belonged to the Baptist Church.
Wife Helen of Pahrump, sons Richard of Pocatello, Idaho, Daniel of Sikeston, Mo., and Frank of Bassett, Va., daughter Denise Malfet of Vestal, N.Y., brother Ross of Ventura, Calif., sister Anna Clemens of Oxnard, Calif., and 14 grandchildren survive him. (2/28/01)
Diana Stiles
A memorial service for Diana Lee Stiles, 69, who died March 3 at a Las Vegas hospital, will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at United Methodist Church in Pahrump, with pastors Bill Martin and Ron Trummell officiating. A potluck will follow at the church.
She was born Feb. 28, 1932, in Casper, Wyo. She lived in Granada Hills, Calif., and managed a family-owned uniform shop in nearby Reseda before moving to Pahrump in 1978. She was one of the original members of the Pahrump Town Board when it changed from an advisory board in 1985. She served on the board - including two years as chairwoman - until 1990.
She was a twice-elected member Pahrump Community Hospital District board of trustees, as well of its predecessor, the private, nonprofit Pahrump Community Medical Center Board.
She also was a founding member of the Service Assistance Program and served on the original census committee, the economic development board, the tourism board, and, for 11 years, the Pahrump Harvest Festival
Crystal VonAlst
A memorial service for Crystal A. VonAlst, 33, who died March 1 at Denver after a lengthy illness, will be held in the Falkner Swamp United Church of Christ, Gilbertsville, Pa., at 7 p.m. March 20.
She was born Aug. 31, 1967, in Pottstown. She was a 10-year resident of Pahrump and worked as the co-owner and office manager at Auto World Auto Repair and Towing.
Husband James of Pahrump, parents Michael Stephenson of Birdsboro, Pa., and Nancy Bender, brother Michael (Tracey) Stephenson, niece Jessica and nephew Michael, all of Pottstown, and grandmother Jessie Smith of Birdsboro, survive her.

Harry Wolford
A memorial service is pending for Harry Thomas Wolford, 71, who died in his Pahrump home March 1.
He was born Feb. 14, 1930, in Williams Port, Mo. He served in the U.S. Army and Air Force for 11 years, then worked as a casino pit boss. He came to Pahrump 11 years ago from Las Vegas, and was a member of VFW Post 10054.
Wife Joann of Pahrump, sons Ron (Edith) of Las Vegas and Nicholas of California; daughters Paula and Phyllis of Las Vegas and Lisa Wittbrodt of Illinois, brother Charles Ford of Las Vegas, sisters Phyllis Henniger, Linda Ford and Delores Droste, all of Las Vegas, and seven grandchildren survive him. Services for Harvey Ora Wood, 78, who died March 6 in Pahrump, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Pahrump Family Mortuary chapel with Chaplain Kenny James officiating.
He was born Oct. 13, 1922, in Colby, Wash. He came to Pahrump five years ago from Southgate, Calif.

Roger Wright
A memorial service for Roger Clive Wright, 54, who died Feb. 28 in Beatty, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Beatty Community Church with Pastor Jeff Taguchi officiating.
He was born March 21, 1946, in Sacramento, Calif. He served in Vietnam with the U.S. Army, then worked as an automotive mechanic. He was a member of the Lions Club and enjoyed cowboy action shooting in his spare time. He belonged to the Baptist Church.
His mother Martha of Sacramento and brother Donald of Beatty survive him.

Felipa Noyola
A memorial service for Felipa Garza Noyola, 86, who died Feb. 19 in a Las Vegas hospice, will be held at 7 p.m. March 22 in Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church.
She was born Aug. 26, 1914, in Laredo, Texas and was a homemaker. She was a one-year resident of Pahrump and belonged to Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church.
Daughters Frances De Marco of Pahrump and Guadalupe Garza of Laredo, sons Tony Meza of Timnath, Colo., Aurelio Sr. of Laredo and Jesus of Seguin, Texas, 24 grandchildren, 58 great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild survive her.

Curtis Trolson
Services for L. Curtis Trolson, 38, who died March 11 in Pahrump, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Kearns, Utah, 10th Ward, with burial at 2 p.m. in the Logan City cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday.
He was born May 7, 1962, at Murray, Utah. He worked as an installer for Bingham heating and was a resident of Pahrump.
His wife, Suzie, survives him. They were married
Feb. 13, 1998.
He is also survived by his parents, Elna Yeates and Gary Trolson, both a Kearns, daughter Desiree of Salt Lake City, son Anderson of Pahrump, sister Sheila of Kearns, brothers Steve (Suzanne) of Taylorsville, Utah, Rich (Sheila) of Kearns and Kent (Charlene) of West Jordan, Utah, and grandmother Leona Yeates of Logan. Virginia Wallace
Services for Virginia Genny Wallace, 55, who died March 8 in Pahrump, will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday in the Pahrump Family Mortuary chapel. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. in the chapel.
She was born April 18, 1945, in California. She was a homemaker who came to Pahrump from California in 1993. She belonged to the Catholic Church.
Husband William of Pahrump, daughters Rosella Crowell and Orlanda Crowell, both of California, son Salvadore of Ariz., sisters Patricia Razo and Linda Razo of California and parents Salvadore and Poletia Razo of California survive her. (3/8/01)
Larry Schnelzer
Larry Schnelzer, who left an enduring mark on Pahrump with his construction company projects, died Monday in his home after a lengthy illness. He was 56.
Schnelzer and his wife Joyce came to Pahrump from Ohio in 1978 in search of a home where year-round building activity was possible and opened Schnelzer Construction Co., one of less than a handful then operating in the community. Their first project was Pernicano's Restaurant, now known as the Stagestop.
It marked the beginning of a number of high profile projects in the growing community, a list that included the clubhouse at what is now known as Willow Creek Golf Course as well as the design and construction of Pahrump Valley Vineyards. A symbolic hammer from the company was placed in the time capsule at the Pahrump Valley Vineyards shortly after the only winery in Nevada opened.
The company also rebuilt the Charles Brown Market in Shoshone, Calif., as well as the offices of the Pahrump Valley Times and Pahrump Valley Press.

Robert McCullough
Robert Irl McCullough, 71, died March 20 in Pahrump.
He was born Sept. 30, 1929, in Newcastle, Wyo. A retired U.S. Navy officer, he taught vocational school diesel engineering for 10 years. He was a member of the Fleet Reserve Assn.
Wife Annette of Pahrump, son Robert of Lubbock, Texas, son Eric of Nellis AFB, two grandchildren, sister JoAnn of Pahrump and mother-in-law Melanie of Pahrump survive him. (3/20/01)
Brenda Merrell
No services are planned for Brenda Marie Merrell, 57, who died March 18 in Pahrump.
She was born Sept. 13, 1943, in Jasper, Ark. She was an eight-year resident of Tonopah who came to Nevada from Midwest City, Okla.
Son Randall Verchor of Kaplan, La., stepson David of Edmond, Okla., stepdaughters Tamara Goodwin of Little Rock, Ark., and Michelle Merrell Rayburn of Bryan, Texas, sisters Phyllis Irvin of California and Ruby Phillips of Oklahoma, and five grandchildren survive her.

Bobbie Saunders
Services for Bobbie Robinson Saunders, 65, who died March 22 in Pahrump, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Homestead and Thousandaire.
She was born April 15, 1935, in Denver. She worked as a school bus driver for the Nye County School District and as a Citizen's Area Transit driver in Las Vegas. She came to Pahrump from Las Vegas 27 years ago, and prior to that lived in Houston. She was a Jehovah's Witness.
Husband James "Jay" of Pahrump, sons Willy Mosley of Oklahoma City, James of Las Vegas, Samuel and Orvis Johnson of Pahrump and Jimmy of Indian Springs, daughters Calandra Thomas of Durango, Colo., Sequita Johnson of Dallas and Seranda Johnson of Oklahoma City, sister Lela Hobbs of Las Vegas, nine grandchildren, and one great-grandchild survive her.

James Roberts
Private family services will be held for James Cecil Roberts, 66, who died March 25 in Pahrump.
He was born Nov. 29, 1934, in Pikeville, Ky. He worked as an engineer at the Thunderbird Hotel, belonged to the Baptist Church, and came to Pahrump three years ago from Las Vegas. He was a member of Operating Engineers Local 501.
Wife Christine of Pahrump, daughters Vicki (Sonny) Perry of Crestline, Calif., and Donna (Gary) Campbell of Las Vegas, sister Lorrell Prater of Akron, Ohio, eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren survive him. (3/25/01)
