Elaine Kranjack
A memorial service for Elaine Kranjack, 81, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home in Yerington. Mrs. Kranjack died Oct. 24, 2004, at home. She was born Dec. 29, 1922, in Wadsworth to Gus and Celia Conley Sheehan.
She graduated from Fernley High School in 1940.
She married Arthur J. "Dutch" Kranjack in 1942. During his time in the military service, she worked in San Francisco and Fresno, Calif. In 1952, she moved to Weed Heights.
Mrs. Kranjack worked for many years as a secretary, at Anaconda Copper until the mine closed, in Hawthorne at the ammunition depot then for the Internal Revenue Service, Legal Counsel until she retired. After her retirement, she was a secretary in the Lyon County Maintenance Shop.
She was a lifetime member of the Eastern Star, Fernley Chapter and was once very active in Weed Heights/Yerington bowling leagues.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1969; daughter, Cindy Menesini; sisters Myrtle Smith and Madge Schaub; sister-in-law Gwen Sheehan; and brothers Bob, Jim and Claude Sheehan.
Among her survivors are her son, Richard of Las Vegas; grandchildren Randy Menesini of Yerington and Diana Menesini Allen of Kings River; great-granddaughters Erica and Monica Menesini; brother Charles Sheehan of Camarillo, Calif.; sister-in-law Ada Sheehan of Reno; seven nieces and nephews; and son-in-law, Don Menesini.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation or a charity of choice.

Robert W. Disney
A memorial service for Robert W. Disney, 75, a Carson City resident for the past five years, will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
Mr. Disney died Oct. 23, 2004, in Carson City.
He was born Aug. 3, 1929, in Kansas to Robert and Mayme Disney.
Before moving to Carson City, he lived in Concord, Calif.
Mr. Disney was a veterinarian. He was a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the California Veterinary Medical Association and the American Legion in Carson City.
He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Concord.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Among his survivors are his wife of 44 years, Wanita of Carson City; children John Mitchell, Toby Martin, Robert Damon and Claire Bickert, all of Concord, Phyllis Edwards of Anderson, Calif., and Mayme M. Disney of Concord; sister, Phyllis Lonnon of St. Paul, Minn.; brother, Richard of Pittsburgh; and eight grandchildren.
Cremation will be at Walton's Sierra Crematory.

Richard 'Dick' Lyon
A memorial service for Richard "Dick" Lyon, 87, a Gardnerville resident for the past 26 years, will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Christ Presbyterian Church in Gardnerville.
Mr. Lyon died Oct. 25, 2004, in Carson City. He was born March 19, 1917, in Lodi, Calif., to Alfred and Mabel Lyon.
He attended schools in Lodi and graduated from Lodi High School.
Mr. Lyon was an aeronautical engineer for Howard Hughes Aircraft for 35 years, during which time he was involved in many projects including the development of the Spruce Goose.
He was most recently honored at the dedication of Evergreen Aviation Museum in McMinnville, Ore. He received many honors throughout his career as a distinguished glider pilot. He was a member of the Christ Presbyterian Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucy.
Among his survivors are his sister, Thelma Thornesberry of Lodi and numerous nieces and nephews.

Adolf Allesch
A memorial service for Adolf Allesch, 75, a Carson City resident for the past 38 years, will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley.
Mr. Allesch died Oct. 25, 2004, at Carson-Tahoe Hospital. He was born Feb. 22, 1929, in Karnten, Austria, to Simon and Emma Mikus Allesch.
He attended the University of California, Los Angeles School of Hotel and Restaurant Management; graduated from Hotel School in Gratz, Austria; and served an apprenticeship at Hotel School in Lake Woerther, Austria.
Before moving to Carson City, he lived in Hawthorne and Reno.
Mr. Allesch became food and beverage director for the Carson Nugget in 1966.
He held executive positions at the El Capitan Lodge and Casino in Hawthorne and the Gold Dust Casino in Reno. He owned and operated the Capital Club Restaurant and Ormsby Inn in Carson City from 1981 to 1986 and Adolf's Midway Inn in Washoe City.
He loved fly fishing, tying his own flies and chukkar hunting. He was a world traveler.
Among his survivors are his wife of 49 years, Grace of Carson City; daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Russell Davidson of Fresno, Calif.; son and daughter-in-law, Adolf and Julie of Cincinnati; sister, Josephine Bailey of Scarborough, Yorkshire, England; and grandchildren Shelby Davidson, Maximillian Allesch and Leonardo Allesch.

Eloise Martha Payne Harris
A celebration of life for Eloise Martha Payne Harris, 86, a Gardnerville resident for the past 30 years, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Genoa Community Church.
Mrs. Harris died Oct. 22, 2004, at Carson Valley Medical Center. She was born July 28, 1918, in Jamestown, R.I., to Fred Addison and Anne Judson Littlefield Payne.
She graduated from the University of California School of Nursing in 1940. Mrs. Harris was a registered nurse and public health nurse for the state of Nevada. She was an Episcopalian.
She served in the U.S. Navy Nurse Corps for a year. She was preceded in death by her son Rich Holoch, in 1995.
Among her survivors are her daughter, Pat France of Gresham, Ore.; son Bob Holoch of Marin County, Calif.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Josephine E. Laws
A service for Josephine E. Laws, 81, a Carson City resident for 19 years, will be at 1 p.m. Nov. 6 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Mrs. Laws died Oct. 20, 2004, at Evergreen Convalescent Center. She was born Oct. 24, 1922, in Caro, Texas, to Jay and Lizzie Beth Butcher Emerson. She married Charles Evans Laws April 7, 1950, in Nacogdoches, Texas. He preceded her in death April 12, 1979, in Medford, Ore.
Before moving to Carson City, she lived in Medford. Mrs. Laws worked for Bunker Ramo, wiring harnesses for some of the first space shuttles. She was a member of the LDS church.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Wanda Campeau May 14, 2004; and granddaughter Jodee Campeau Dec. 24, 1998.
Among her survivors are her daughter Justine Jones of Carson City; grandchildren Justine Chambers, Steven Chambers, John Chambers, Ashley Stafford, Alex Gutierrez and Charlene Moorehead; and seven great-grandchildren.
Inurnment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Medford. Capitol City Cremation & Burial Society is in charge of arrangements.
Ruth Aikman Ramsay
A remembrance for Ruth Aikman Ramsay, 92, a Gardnerville resident for the past 27 years, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Brune and Buck Mortuary, 325 W. Elm St., Bishop. A graveside service at the East Line Street Cemetery will follow.
Mrs. Ramsay died Oct. 24, 2004, in Minden. She was born April 30, 1912, in Ines, Kan., to Claude and Anna Aikman.
She graduated first in her class from the Business College of Wichita in Kansas before relocating to Long Beach, Calif., in 1932.
She married Edmond Ramsay Nov. 9, 1940. She moved to Bishop in 1959.
Mrs. Ramsay was the bookkeeper at Bishop Union High School in the early 1960s, worked in the medical offices of Drs. Scott and Sheldon during the late 1960s and early 1970s, then returned to the high school, where she worked until her retirement in 1977.
She was a skilled seamstress, an accomplished pianist, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and served as president of the Business and Professional Women's organization. She was a Christian.
She was preceded in death by her husband and daughter, Jacqueline Craig.
Among her survivors are her daughters Carol King of Hemet, Calif., Lizabeth Ramsay of Holbrook Junction and Robyn Ramsay Hooker of Arroyo Grande, Calif.; grandchildren Claudia King-Rick of Victorville, Calif., Lisa Daggett Petersen of Junction City, Ore., Robba'Lee King Sweeney of Dayton, Tina Verna Peach, Carl Edmond King, Jill King-Capps of Carson City, Tonyia Verna Brewer of Los Angeles, Vincent Gurzi, Michael Faley of Holbrook Junction and Cori Ramsay Hooker; 10 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Robert Thomas Dobbs
A celebration of life for Robert Thomas Dobbs, 71, a Carson City/Gardnerville resident for the past month, will be at 11 a.m. Nov. 6 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Virginia City.
Mr. Dobbs died Oct. 15, 2004, at Mountain Springs Assisted Living. He was born Nov. 13, 1932, in Idaho to Cecil and Lillian Bennett Dobbs.
Before moving to the area, he lived in Las Vegas.
Mr. Dobbs was a heavy-equipment operator and retired from Operating Engineers Union Local 12. He enjoyed gambling.
He was preceded in death by his brother Lloyd; and sister Hazel Manning.
Among his survivors are his sons and daughters-in-law Thomas and Stacey Dobbs and Daniel and Ruby Post, all of Gardnerville; brothers Virgil of Los Angeles and Jay of Boron, Calif.; sister Shirley Finley of Boron; and three grandchildren.
